Study in technology ,personal interaction and the price of revenge

Have read all of the Hail books. Have learned something about technology ,politics, and the opportunity for use of nuclear waste Enjoyed following the interactions of kids adopted by Hail and the way in which he enhanced their lives and taught them skills Finds ingenious projects to keep the young, intelligent kids busy and productive
This book showed the dark side of the need for revenge. Well done and realistic. Leaves reader with feelings to " ponder" . Thanks for another book I couldn't put down!

Hail Sting (2019) is Brett Arquette's fifth in the Marshall Hail series, a geopolitical thriller series perfecct for a summer read. I plugged into this series from the first book, Hail Nucleus. and have followed with continuing interest.

The über-hero is Marshall Hail, the youngest physicist ever to win a Nobel Prize and the inventor of a new type of nuclear reactor—a Wave Reactor—that uses spent fuel from standard reactors. Hail has parleyed this into a major multinational corporation that builds new reactors and buys old fuel for them, thus relieving the world of the disposal problem. He owns a fleet of cargo ships decked out to carry radioactive material, and now he lives on his flagship, the Hail Nucleus.

But three years ago Hail's life took a sharp turn when his wife and twin daughters were murdered in a terrorist shootdown of their airliner. The event, called "The Five" because five airliners were simultaneously shot down, turned Marshall Hail into the world's wealthiest, and perhaps its most aggressive, anti-terrorist. He has decked out the Hail Nucleus with an arsenal of weapons, including a fleet miniaturized drones that can go anywhere and do harsh things to anyone. And he has amassed an odd group of teenagers, many orphaned by The Five, who live on his flagship and pilot the drones, among other duties.

Hail has great contacts at the White House. He has done some of its dirty work when it was consistent with his personal goals, and President Joanna White thinks him more than capable. On the other hand, her CIA Director, Jaret Pepper, hates Hail with a passion, which is OK because everyone, including the President, thinks Pepper is a doofus and an accident waiting to happen. Especially anti-Pepper is Kara Ramey, Hail's main squeeze and a top-CIA agent who would have a Nobel Prize for beauty if there were one.

In the previous book Hail captured the thirty-year old Jordanian terrorist who shot his family down. Halati Tamimi is now in very solitary confinement at a CIA-run one-prisoner jail. Pepper wants Tamimi to admit to the shoot-down even though everyone knows she did it, and Tamimi refuses just to piss Pepper off. Hail has pledged to kill her, but everyone on Hail's side opposes it because he will become an enemy of the United States.

OK. We're all on the same page now. The problem du livre is that in spite of prolonged ultra-solitary confinement and cell lights on 24/7/365, Tamimi refuses to admit to shooting the airliner down. Pepper knows that Hail wants to assassinate Tamimi her, probably by using his ultra-miniaturized and weaponized drones to get into the prison. Pepper meets with the President and proposes a plan for retaliation if Hail does kill Tamimi—a retaliatory air strike on the Hail Nucleus, staged to look like the act of an unknown foreign power. This sounds like a very dumb idea, but there it is.

So Pepper selects an international weapons trafficker named Victor Kornev to arrange the hit. Kornev is a regular in the series and, just to keep his bases covered, is also a CIA informant. Kornev detests Hail, who has stymied him several times, so he contracts with a Russian pilot who owns a collection of US warplanes for one 1960s-era F-100 Voodoo and two missiles. Then he waits for the "Go" sign.

As a solid beach read, this is Four stars. Enjoy, and if you like it try numbers one through four.

This is a wonderful piece of writing that I thoroughly enjoyed. The first four books in this series were magnificent, and once again Brett Arquette has done a fabulous job with ‘Hail Sting.’ I love the detail and background that’s put into each character, and that each one of them has their own story that all comes together in the end. The other stand out for me is the emotions I felt when reading this story, from anger to sadness, and then total surprise. It takes a talented Author that can take you on such journey.
Marshall Hail craved revenge for the murder of his wife and two twin daughters. Since finding out from the arms dealer Victor Kornev that the Jordanian terrorist Halati Tamimi was responsible for shooting down the plane they were on, he had thought about nothing else. Except when he was with the very beautiful CIA Agent Kara Ramey. He was yet to convince Kara to move onto his ship to live with him. Marshall was hoping after she finished renovating her house that she would join him. It was certainly made clear to Marshall that the US Government weren’t going to hand Tamimi over to him, and it was also conveyed to him that there could be consequences if he tried to kill her. From start to finish this is an exceptional book, and I would certainly recommend it. 5/5 Star Rating.

This, the fifth book about Marshall Hail, starts off with a terrifying flash-forward and ends on a cliffhanger. In between these two events, the action is non-stop and the character interaction and development just gets steadily better. Marshall burns with the desire to finally eliminate Halata Tamimi but knows that he could end up on the hit list of the American government since she is in their custody. Add to that the probable disintegration of his relationship with Kara? If you have read the first four books, you were probably eagerly awaiting the fifth and I'm certain that you won't be disappointed!

Hail Sting. Brett Arquette

Marshall Hall's family were killed by a terrorist. The commercial jet they were passengers on that was departing an airport in Germany, was brought down by a single missile fired by one person. Now she's imprisoned in America. Not an ordinary prison. Impossible to gain entrance without proper clearance. Impregnable. Hail hunts down terrorists, courtesy of the United States, the CIA as well as POTUS. Now he seeks revenge. He will kill her using one of his trademark weapons, a drone. Unfortunately, he may have killed another person very close to him. This is an extremely well written fast paced novel. Enjoyed immensely.

A great addition to the Hail series

Hail Sting continues the story of Hail, Kara, and the terrorist that shot down Hail’s family’s plane. The story is interesting and full of suspense. This book, however, is darker than the previous ones and it ends with a cliff hanger.
I do recommend this book.

latest in the Marshall Hail series. This time he must decide to proceed with his goal to eliminate a terrorist on the top 10 without alienating the CIA and Kara.

Special thanks to the author for allowing me to be part of the editing team.

Same as always

A great read, but this one had more twists and turns. I enjoyed reading this book. It took a number of plot surprises, but I don’t care for the very end. I can’t wait for the next book in the series.

WTF?

Good continuation of the Hail series, but an incredibly horrible end. Cannot understand why the author took that path. *SMH*
