I like to eat Peanut M&M’s mixed with movie popcorn and Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough is my kryptonite. I enjoy writing stories about flawed women who find their place in the world after overcoming obstacles. I believe strongly that books have the power to heal as much as they entertain.
When I’m not writing, you can find me buried in a book, watching a basketball game, or spending time with my family.
This is the 2nd installment of the "Unapologetically Me" series. Book 2 picks up roughly a few months after book 1 and my heart was racing from jump! From the onset of the plot, I felt like I was fighting along side Jaren and Fatima. My heart has been slapped around and my brain just in a fog of wonderment at how they have survived all that they had! So, I'm like "what else can happen in book 2?" Lort, wth did I ask that for?
The drama in this book will have your stomach in your throat! I have felt physically sick a time or two reading the emotional conundrums that Jaren and Fatima faced. I think I even dabbed my eyes a few times and was screaming "noooo" as well. Listen, this book took me all the way through some thangs! Little surely does have a way with words that can really tug at your emotions. She isn't short on construing the dynamics of relationships either: I felt she did a stellar job on portraying how Jaren and Fatima lost and found love through their circumstances. The conflict in this book was hearty and SO very plausible. Trust me, I even researched some of the issues they faced and it was all legit.
Additionally, I was impressed by the character development of both Jaren and Fatima vs book 1. They both fought for their own sanity and the love of each other, by tooth and nail! And though there is a great deal of conflict between them, Little balances it all with their palpable chemistry that will have you swooning, especially during steamy scenes (ahem). JAREN IS BAE, YOU HEAR ME!! The way he protects Fatima had me melting to THEE ground! Also, I HAVE to mention the minor characters. They added so much to the plot's progression: from family and friends to those in the entertainment world, they all had a hand in bringing humor, self consciousness, and even relief to Jaren and Fatima's circumstances as they fought for their love.
The title of this book was perfect for this installment and readers will understand why by its end. I felt the entire plot was well paced with the various climatic scenes and the lulls. There were so many highs throughout the entire story, I'm just happy Little didn't choke the hell out of my heart altogether as it concluded. And might I add, the conclusion was surely fitting to such an emotionally driven read. Whew, I need some Hennessy!
On that note, I'm sorry it had to end: I was so invested in this story and the lead characters. This felt so real like I was right in the story with them, going through! I've been ecstatic to find another author who actually writes full-length books of quality. I'm reading anything D. Little puts out in the future (PERIODT) and that won't be long (considering she has another book dropping in a minute)!
I hate writing reviews because if I’ve actually taken the time to do so means I absolutely loved the book which means I don’t know how to say what I want and keep it short. I’m going to try here though. This book was everything and nothing I saw coming. There were so many twist and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat. See I wanna say more, but I’ll stop. This was a wonderful sequel and I loved how Jaren and Fatima’s story ended. I look forward to reading more from this author.
I went through so many emotions while reading this sequel. I thought the first book took me through it but this one had me all in my feelings. Even when my chest hurt from the negative emotions attached to the story, I couldn’t stop reading. The journey Fatima and Jaren traveled was real and raw. They experienced probably every adversity you can think of in a relationship but their love held them through it. Love is a powerful thing. It’s not the only necessity for a successful relationship but it definitely is the chord that holds it together through the rough times. I wanted to stomp a few people in the ground while reading this. Woman have to learn how to respect each other. Karma is a very real thing. I see a definite series here because I need to see Autumn’s love story unfold and I have to have Chanel’s story because it will be nothing but pure entertainment.
What an exciting adventurous ride! Jaren's music/rap career is up in the stratosphere and Fatima has finally published her first book. And of course, all hell breaks loose!!! First, betrayal from some of Jaren's closest friends, including his trusted manager. Next, false allegations from his sleazy groupies. Lies so damaging that Fatima ends up in the hospital where she loses something so precious that she and Jaren may never recover from this hit to their relationship. Awesome story!
The sequel to “Unapologetically Me” finds Fatima getting ready to celebrate the release of her first book, while preparing for an upcoming wedding. Just when everything seems to be going right, she is hit with another health blow. This time, it directly affects her relationship with Jaren, and dare I say...threatens its existence!
The couple seek counseling, which turns out to be one of the best things they could’ve done. However, secrets and scandal linger in the background. Is love enough to pull them thru?
I highly recommend this 💎💎💎💎💎read by @dlittlewriter, and look forward to the next installment.
Absolutely loved it! Fatima and Jaren took us on such an emotional rollercoaster. I wanted to shake them at times. The author did a great job of diving into the lows and highs of their relationship and the supporting characters were just enough to give the story more weight but never distract from the leads can’t wait to read more of her work!
Fatima and Jaren are back and the storm was over in the first book, we ended with them back together. When this book opens Fatima and Jaren are planning a wedding and keeping a secret. When the unthinkable happens, this sends Fatima on a emotional ride and she had a hard time getting off. This started the spiral of the relationship. There were so many ups and downs in this relationship and so many hurts and it got to the point that it couldn't be fixed. After separating for awhile, they seemed help and each worked on themselves and worked together. But of course, drama was right around the corner. This was a great ending for Jaren and Fatima. I loved how this author, finished their story. Another book I didn't want to put down and I'm still thinking about it the next day!!!
I loved everything about this book, the writing, the storyline, the ending. Sigh... nothing beats a well written love story with a great ending. I will now commence to stalking the author and reading everything she puts out. She is definitely going on the automatic one-click list. Fatima and Jaren FOREVER!!!
O.M.G!!! This is finally finished....worst female character ever!
Man, I am so relieved that this is finished because I couldn't take it anymore. Fatima was truly the worst female character that I have ever read about. Nothing made sense regarding her and in this book with all of this ups and downs, she was the catalyst for everything that went down yet she had the nerve to sound like a victim all at the end. See this is what kills me with some things; having miscarriages is not an evil thing and just because the woman is the one having the physical strain doesn't mean that the man is not affected. And to top it off, why not wanting to try again for another baby? Why not keep on trying because it is not the end of the world and it is simply as to what God see fit for you. Nothing is just cut and dry and with Fatima, after everything she just run because that what she does best. I truthfully did not like this story because Fatima was so weak, selfish, and just being a brat while she had a man that was willing to drop everything for her, be with her, held her down and make sure that she was always straight and she still had to "act up"...why? See that's what kills me, some woman gets everything and they don't deserve any of it because they take everything for granted while others struggle to make do and pray to God that he sends their soul mate their way soon. Just plain pathetic!!! I will give this author another chance because her penmanship is near perfect. No errors, no grammatical errors and the words flowed, making you feel present with the characters was a perfect combination. There aren't too many authors with that type of ability as hers and the only thing I will say, man this didn't need to be a two book thing nor did it need all of this length, because was it long....
These two here. I wanted to slap, shake, hug, kiss then slap them both, repeatedly. If I didn't love these characters, especially Jaren and Fatima, and needed to see how they crawled out of the hole they dug for themselves, I would have thrown my Kindle. The fact that they had the most beautiful relationship you could ask for, for them to not initially get the help they so obviously needed, was beyond me. As smart as my girl was, she pulled some dumb moves, moves I was hoping she took full responsibility for. My boo Jericho (because that was the devilish one acting) didn't help matters at all. He was only throwing fuel on the flame. This couple got served blow after crippling blow, but because from day one, they had something so exceptional, they were able to hold on to each other and win their battles. Please read the second half of their journey, you'll go through some things, but it's absolutely worth it.
I went through so many emotions while reading this sequel. I thought the first book took me through it but this one had me all in my feelings. The journey Fatima and Jaren traveled was real, raw and emotional. They experienced probably every adversity you can think of in a relationship but their love held them through it. Fatima went through a lot and even though she worked my nerves with her stubbornness, I found myself still rooting for her. This story touched on real issues women go through on a daily basis. Fatima and Jaren experienced some highs and definitely some lows in this story. This was a story of strength, courage and love. Danesha Little is definitely an author to look out for as she delivered another excellent read.
Danesha Little know how to give it to the people!! I was sucked in with " Unapologetically Me" (first book of the series) then she sucker punch us with this!?
I am not going to lie, just like the first book, it was a little lengthy. I didn't mind it though because it was a good story and I was never bored. It was so many highs and lows. Hell, I felt like I was in the relationship with Fatima and Jarren. I would have to say that this is my favorite couple so far that I have read. Mind you, I just really started to get back in the reading game soooooooo this is my favorite so far.
The second book in a series always seems to be the hardest to get through and that was NOT the case with this book! I loved every moment in this installment. I really liked how Fatima and Jaren went through some serious trials in their relationship. The miscarriages were the hardest to get through and I could imagine every emotion Fatima went through. I also liked seeing how Jaren's grief was explored as well. Their journey back to each other was rough but so worth the wait. Kaiya's birth was so heartwarming and the love that they received from their friends and family was so great. Their therapist Richale was really good and I liked how she helped them process their emotions and fall back in love with each other. Fatima's description of her book titled, Born to Save You sounds like a good read! I would totally download it! Their date at the African American National Museum and the maternity shoot was such a beautiful gift! I really loved how Jaren's words, "A Silenced Gift Helps No One" was brought back up in this story and tied so well with the story line. I also liked how Fatima had compassion for London and could relate to her state of mind after a miscarriage. I really enjoyed this book and I inhaled this book! It was that good! I'm looking forward to Chanel's story!

Following Fatima and Jaren's relationship was truly quite the experience. Ngl reading this book there were moments where I felt myself get physically ill because I couldn't handle the gut wrenching heartache both of these characters went through in their relationship. I love Fatima and Jaren soo much that their struggles became my own, their fears, worries and frustration I felt them DEEP in my SOUL. But I can't get over their love for each other it was not only BEAUTIFUL but also Powerful, and how they both made the effort to work through their issues and struggles together and saw them grow and develop as individuals. The difference between their characters from the first book and the second was so stark. I believed Fatima when she said she wasn't the same woman as before, cause there were moments while reading I was like "Wait are they really the same people I was reading about in the first book??".
I loved all the other side characters ugh I can't get over TLC(😂😂Blame Jaren for the name), Chanel, Autumn and Fatima their friendship was everything and soo genuine it made me so happy to know Fatima had such a great friends. Chanel and Autumn had me cackling all the time with their interactions.
My babies are going through. And all in such a short time. I felt all the pain and anguish.
I love Autumn. Chanel is crazy.
Pia really trying to be a problem. I hope she get hers
"Forget Jaren, we’re about to go find you a Barack tonight.”
I’m so impressed with PD’s maturity bc I could stand his ass in book 1
Wow. London is trash. I hate females like her.
SEVEN!!! I thought it was only three. And even that was a lot. JC Fatima handled that better than I could’ve
Damn I really can’t believe how much I’m liking PD
London is a trip and need her ass whooped for that stunt
How would Jaren know without a doubt. Condoms are not 100% preventative
Omg this was just as wild as book one if not wilder. I enjoyed it just as much. Fatima and Jaren made me want to knock each of them out at times but I really loved both characters. Lovely ending
This book was good, though I didn't enjoy it quite as much as book 1. However, it did keep me enthralled. I couldn't stop reading.
Unlike book one, where we see these two meet, fall in love, break up, and then get back together. In this book, we follow the slow disintegration of a happy relationship. It became both tedious and monotonous. Many of the actions and behaviors of the protagonists didn't make much sense (which was true in the last book but even more glaring in this one).
There was a good amount of therapy that took place in the book (trigger warnings: miscarriage, suicide attempt, and premature birth) which I think was well done. With all that being said, this was an interesting story, and if you read book one, I definitely recommend reading this book.
Fatima frustrated me so much in both book 1 and book 2 of this series. Jaren loved Fatima with everything in him and she loved him equally as much, but each time there was a maor hurdle in their relationship she ran or found away to push him away. This was an awesome story of two people trying to maintain their love and build a life and family while in the publics eye since one was a major Hip-hop entertainer and one was rising to fame as an author. Their triumphs and troubles, joy's and sorrows always captured and critiqued on social media by supporters and haters. Finally Fatima stopped running and pushing Jaren away but stood side by side and fought the haters and trolls with him. Hands down a great ending to an AMAZING love story.
Fatima and Jaren's story continues and will have you on an emotional rollercoaster. Their relationship has truly been put to the test throughout this book and there was definitely a moment where you had to wonder will they ever come back from all the pain and scandal. One thing for sure was that the love was felt in this book between these two. Although Fatima was stubborn and built a wall up with Jaren, she knew he was the only man that could provide her comfort and peace. I love Jaren's determination to make everything right with Fatima. His protective nature is what made me love him even more. They deserved that happy ending with their bonus bundle of joy to make their family complete.
This book is what ride to die looks like. Two stubborn people in love. Fatima was so sheltered by her parents. She had a strong support system. I was glad she followed heart and stepped out on her comfort zone and fight for her love. She was bratty at times, but she was young. She was so young dealing with the craziness in the world. This book really makes you not like social media. There was so much truth in the trauma experienced by Fatima. I loved how she had to find herself. The was the author made sure that Mental Health Therapy was weaved all through this story was great. This story was the truth!
Both books were great! 5 stars for sure! The first book had me so anxious that I spoiled the second book for myself by searching some names to see how they were involved in the second book 😝 I absolutely hate when other women are involved. I can deal with so many other issues but when other females/males get involved I get antsy. However, nobody was cheated on in this book and the things that did take place happened while they were on a break. Fatima got on my nerves during some points of the book and Jaren was so patient with her. Great read overall and I can’t wait to dive into Chanel’s book.
Sorry I'm a year late to the party, this was the best story I have read in a long time. In a day and age of novella's (which I am not a fan of), I must say that you have written this story with so much substance that I stayed up reading through the night. Thank you for putting in so many twist and turns to the story that wasn't expected. Usually when a story ends if leaves you with questions but you have covered Jalen and Fatima to a beautiful conclusion. I will always go back to this story when I have nothing to read and want a good story to re-read.
Man, these two books tugged at my heartstrings! Like, I almost stopped reading because it was just that intense! Jaren and Fatima let love win! Fatima finally, FINALLY, got that Jaren would always protect, love, and cherish her before the vows were ever taken. Since their first meeting he was #teamfatima. Fatima on the other hand showed when you lived for everybody else, you're not living for yourself. Her growth, was awesome! All the twist and turns in these two books made for an awesome emotionally heavy book. Well worth reading!
I really enjoyed the first book in the series and was looking forward to the second book in the series. This started out strong but became weird close to the end with the introduction of London. At that point it felt like a horrible reality show. I wished that Fatima was honest with Jaren but I guess we have to include some form of drama in the book. I wished it wasn't that because Jaren and Fatima went through it already. I will continue reading the series because the author has a talent in crafting stories.
I am so glad this is a series!! Fatima know she worked my nerves, so glad Jaren told her to stop pushing him away. The ups and downs, back and forth would normally get on my nerves but this author was able to do so from the prospective of both characters without wearing out the readers. I absolutely enjoyed this! I also loved how the author carefully showed how therapy truly does help. Danesha Little I am hooked to this series...I am 2days late from doing my grocery shopping lol. Readers you won't be disappointed!
How much can someone take... I felt for Fatima, she overcome so much and she she is unaware of her own strength. She has amazing fiends, and I can't wait to read their stories. As for Jaren I was mad at him for seeking comfort in those Jezebels's arms,so soon... I expected better from him. So typical of man!! 🙄, I cried for my girl. This series is awesome, page turner, the emotions are sky high and at times you will laugh your a** off. BTW, how old is Jaren? His age was never mentioned , not even at his birthday party...?! Great read!!
This book was an emotional roller coaster. Fatima couldn’t get a break and fear began to rule her life. She mad some major mistakes and made decisions for Jaren that she shouldn’t have. I wanted to mad at Jaren but I understood and he learned his lesson quickly.
What I do appreciate about this book is how realistic Jaren and Fatima relationship are…hard and sometimes love isn’t enough but with work, communication and the desire to make it work. They figured it out even though I wasn’t sure at moments. Such a great emotional read.
As I read A Silenced Gift, I kept thinking to myself that this book was better than the first! And I really loved Book 1, too! Jaren and Tima continue to go through a lot of drama in this book, but they eventually get through it. With help from their friends and family, these two weather some storms that at times seemed unimaginable. Hats off to Danesha Little! I am on my way to reading your entire catalogue!
I thought the first book was great till I read second book. I read it so fast I didn’t even come out for air till I was done. An Emotional roller coasters was what this book put me through but I loved every minute of it. A little Warning ⚠️ this book has very sensitive topics ( fertility issues and topics a long those lines). I love how real and RaulThis is my second book by this author and it wouldn’t be the last one.
This book took my emotions to a place to where I had to stop reading for a few days . Fatima went though so much. Jaren is there thought it but one thing brought him to his breaking point and everything started going out of control for Fatima and Jaren . Sit down grab this book and please make sure you don’t have to work for a few days cause emotional circumstances will have you not wanting to move .
