In this sequel to Pumpkin Spice, Marigold and Sawyer are excited to be competing as a team in a Christmas cookie baking contest. Though they have fallen for each other, Marigold and Sawyer have struggled with the distance between them. Specifically, Sawyer's successful restaurant is based in the city while Marigold's job as a teacher is located in her hometown of Sugar Maple. Coming together through their love of baking is the icing on the cake for the two of them.
But when Sawyer makes a crucial error on their entry forms, Marigold and Sawyer finds themselves competing against each other instead of as a team. To make matters worse, they begin to question if their relationship has a future and, if so, where that future may be. Will Sawyer give up his restaurant for the love of his life? Will Marigold leave the home she loves to be with Sawyer? And, perhaps most importantly, are they truly better as a team or own their own?

Sugar Maple is a small town with interesting characters. This story is a sequel to Pumpkin Spice. This time there is a mix-up with the baking entries which leaves Sawyer and Marigold as competitors instead of working together. This is a fun, sweet short story.
