Walter Elias “Walt” Disney (December 5, 1901 – December 15, 1966) was an American film producer, director, screenwriter, voice actor, animator, entrepreneur, entertainer, international icon, and philanthropist. Disney is famous for his influence in the field of entertainment during the 20th century. As the co-founder (with his brother Roy O. Disney) of Walt Disney Productions, Disney became one of the best-known motion picture producers in the world. The corporation he co-founded, now known as The Walt Disney Company, today has annual revenues of approximately U.S. $35 billion.

Disney is particularly noted for being a film producer and a popular showman, as well as an innovator in animation and theme park design. He and his staff created some of the world's most famous fictional characters including Mickey Mouse, a character for which Disney himself was the original voice. He has been awarded four honorary Academy Awards and has won twenty-two competitive Academy Awards out of fifty-nine nominations, including a record four in one year, giving him more awards and nominations than any other individual. He also won seven Emmy Awards. He is the namesake for Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resort theme parks in the United States, as well as the international resorts Tokyo Disney, Disneyland Paris, and Disneyland Hong Kong.

Disney died of lung cancer in Burbank, California, on December 15, 1966. The following year, construction began on Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. His brother Roy Disney inaugurated the Magic Kingdom on October 1, 1971.

The Walt Disney Company (NYSE: DIS) (commonly referred to as Disney) is the largest media and entertainment conglomerate in the world in terms of revenue. Founded on October 16, 1923, by brothers Walt Disney and Roy Disney as the Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio, the company was reincorporated as Walt Disney Productions in 1929. Walt Disney Productions established itself as a leader in the American animation industry before diversifying into live-action film production, television, and travel. Taking on its current name in 1986, The Walt Disney Company expanded its existing operations and also started divisions focused upon theatre, radio, publishing, and online media. In addition, it has created new divisions of the company in order to market more mature content than it typically associates with its flagship family-oriented brands.

The company is best known for the products of its film studio, the Walt Disney Motion Pictures Group, today one of the largest and best-known studios in Hollywood. Disney also owns and operates the ABC broadcast television network; cable television networks such as Disney Channel, ESPN, and ABC Family; publishing, merchandising, and theatre divisions; and owns and licenses 11 theme parks around the world. On January 23, 2006, it was announced that Disney would purchase Pixar in an all-stock transaction worth $7.4 billion. The deal was finalized on May 5. On December 31, 2009, Disney Company acquired the Marvel Entertainment, Inc. for $4.24 billion. The company has been a component of the Dow Jones Industrial Average since May 6, 1991. An early and well-known cartoon creation of the company, Mickey Mouse, is the official mascot of The Walt Disney Company.

I am an empath, who cannot abide animal death even fictionally. With relief, my 1941 Golden Book subtly skims it. It focuses on education and joy: a Mother's love and a forest welcoming a birth. Emphasis is on friendship, fun, and like German-speakers of my family, Felix Salten lacks no humour. From a more abridged story, I know the language sequence well, in which Flower tutors Bambi amid laughter. We see why a baby takes a butterfly as a bird and a flower as a butterfly; a loving awakening. Don't be wary of these Disney versions.

It was time I looked this iconic figure up and I respect and enjoy “Bambi” more! “Bambi: Eine Lebensgeschichte Aus Dem Walde” was a 1928 novel for adults (“Bambi: A Life Story In The Woods”)! Like “Black Beauty”, this is a pioneering animal rights / conservation effort, one of the first from the animal's side! That changes everything, doesn't it? I always seek happy endings but it makes a treasured difference that Felix didn't add anything sad for dramatic effect, nor hunting because he thought it normal. His mission was to evoke empathy and questions I perceive like this:

“How would you feel, if you solely sought joy and the Mother you adored were killed? By a species who can buy whatever they need but deems murder a sport? How does it feel, that you are a danger word to nature? Animals live for children and loved-ones just like we do and you are their terror”. I salute Siegmund Salzmann, founder of the arts in Austria, during the Jung Wien movement. His was a daring voice but he shows that females or males knowing right from wrong isn't new. Bravo, Sir! I hope you see how many of us are freely speaking out now!

I first saw the Walt Disney version of the classic when I was five or six. And till this date, I love this book and the movie. Simply written with the flair for touching your hearts, this book narrates the story of Bambi, a young fawn born to The Great Prince of the forest. It goes on to describe the events that happen in his life, the tragedies and the corner stones, the way he climbs out of his sorrows and eventually, takes over as the Great Prince himself. A charming yet deep rooted story, a must read for young ones as well as the adults. Go on, fall in love with it.

Bambi is born the new prince of the forrest. Throughout the book Bambi makes friends and learns important life lessons. As he befriends Thumper, Flower, and Faline. The group plays and all is good within the forrest. That is until Bambi's mother is shot and Bambi has to deal with her loss. The great prince and Owl help Bambi grow into a young respectable book. Thumper, Bambi and Flower all find girlfriends in the spring and all is well again. But not for long because Faline is trapped so Bambi jumps into save her and he ends up hurt and in the midst of a fire. Bambi escapes and after a while Faline and Bambi's fawns are born.

This book is full of all the emotions. It really teaches the circle of life and how animals survive. Though the talking animals may not be exactly what happens in real life we are able to get a real picture of wild life. Disney does a great job of creating illustration so that children can make that connection to real life. For these reasons I have given this book a 4 star rating.

Unfortunately I saw the movie as a child well before I read the book and I have to say the movie was a lot more interesting to me. I'm not sure if it was because Walt Disney published the book of Bambi just because the movie has always been such a classic or what but this book was not very well put together. I refute that Bambi will always be a good tale for children as well as a wonderful movie for the whole family to enjoy. I guess I'm just frustrated because a book like this should have been more thought out because of how classic the movie was. All being said, I will always read Bambi to my children and students.

Bambi made me remember parenthood and how my mom was a great mother. How loving and caring the animals was with each other. How the world really isn't this way. I try to teach my daughter that children don't actually act like this and you can't make them. Remember life isn't a fairy tale. You can only be nice yourself but in the end you might get hurt and loose your way. Like Bambi he lost his mother but was not alone. He had good friends. Life as we know will not be like that but with God it will feel like that. Stay with God you will never be alone. All and all a learning experience.

I love Bambi! It is a lovely tale of forest creatures. What I liked about this book was it was completely happy. There were no hunters or fires. I think children would like this story better than the movie because they like happy stories unlike the movie. This unforgettable moment happens where you see the baby dear grow up and it is like just a child. I think teachers could learna a lot from this book about diversity and development.

I really liked this book when I was a little girl. This is a story of Bambi, a baby dear and his mother teaches him all about the world and hunters. He meets friends along the way and his mother is shot one winter by a hunter. He gets older and ends up liking a female deer. They become together and there is a fire in the woods. Bambi and his dad help get everyone to safety. Then the story ends with Bambi having a baby.

Loved Disney's Bambi, both book and movie but the killing of Bambi's mother was shocking and very upsetting. I warn all children over 4 about this scene before they watch the movie.
Not a vegetarian but the horror of what I felt as a child has not been forgotten.
Even a decade later, I associate Bambi's mother with venison and will never touch it.

Adored cute little bunny Thumper and really like "Flowers" the skunk.

My mom gave me an envelope containing old schoolwork assigments from when I was in grade school. At the age of 8, on an "About Me" writing assignment, where it asks for the best book I ever read, my answer was Bambi, and when it asked what part I liked best I wrote "when Bambi falls on the ice". So there you go!

Bambi is a deer. Bambi has a friend. His name is Thumper. Thumper is a gray bunny. Bambi made a lot of new friends. Bambi's mom deer told Bambi that the forest is dangerous. Bambi found a big deer with big antlers. Soon Bambi's mom deer died. Bambi was sad. Then it was spring, Bambi grew up. Go to the local library and get this book! By Ruby

This is a great book for coming of age and about family. Bambi goes through all the stages of life that children will go through. Can discuss with the children what they would like to do when they get a little older (1 yr or 2 yr...etc) talk about their families and what their parents or other family members help them with when need it.

The illustrations in this book are fantastic, though they are old fashioned they really make the story. The story is very similar to the movie. So many emotions are felt when I read this book happiness, laughter and sadness, when Bambi's mother died. This book is a classic and I enjoyed reading it.

I love the Little Golden Books. The illustrations and hardcover books are so nostalgic. I wish they still made them like this today. Now they have them more in paperbacks and they don't have the old stories anymore. Bambi is such a wonderful story with great illustrations. There are some sad elements but they are handled with care for young children to learn and understand.

Bambi is such a classic read. You can never read it too many times. The movie is fantastic, but for me the book is even better. This book is one that can show kids the joy of story time and reading.

Bambi is a young deer celebrated as the 'Prince of the Forest' from the moment of his birth. As he matures, Bambi forms friendships with various forest creatures, notably a rabbit named Thumper and a skunk called Flower. He acquires the essential skills for survival and even discovers love. The moral of Bambi's story differs across adaptations, but it generally conveys themes of coming-of-age, resilience, respect for nature, and the confrontation of harsh realities such as death and loss, particularly at the hands of humans. The original book underscores survival through wisdom and solitude, whereas the Disney adaptation emphasizes friendship, perseverance, and the pursuit of joy following tragedy, illustrating a universal journey of personal growth. A crucial lesson is the necessity of learning to live independently and depending on oneself for survival, acquiring wisdom through solitude in a perilous world. This narrative presents a darker, more realistic depiction of life's fragility, where animals face hunting and existence is a relentless battle against 'Man.' The story delves into the life cycle and the acceptance of fate, highlighting the significant effects of loss, such as the death of Bambi's mother.

Bambi was born and the animals were so very excited to meet him. Bambi went along with Thumper on adventures learning new words. Bambi grew older and taught Bambi about the meadow. Bambi met a new friend fallen. Bambi’s mother called for him as the loud sound occurred. The big dear guided Bambi out of the meadow and later winter occurred. Bambi learned how to ice skate and he was dreaming of spring during winter. When Bambi’s mother calls for him to run away to the thicket and mother deer is injured by the hunter. Bambi was alone and the great prince found him, and Bambi went with the great prince. Bambi grew older and fell in love with Fallen. Later there was fire in the forest and he had to save fallen from hounds. Bambi become weak and couldn’t get away from the fire. He then found the Great prince again who made him get up and got away from the fire at the river. Bambi had twins with fallen.

I'm still trying to complete my challenge goal by reading all the books I bought for the kids in the family for Christmas. Having a few that have not yet been delivered, I'm resorting to desperate tactics to make my goal. I thought that I should be able to read three books a month, but life and other commitments sometimes get in the wary. The chances are slim that I'll succeed at this point, however it is fun to re-read books I loved as a child. I find too that there are certain parts of these books that haven't stayed with me over the years. I knew that Bambi lost his mom, but forgot about the forest fire. I remembered Thumper, but not Flower. I just hope the recipients of these books enjoy them as much as I did as a kid. The illustrations in the book are lovely. I know today's generation is more inclined to watch a video or a movie, but it's hard to beat reading a good book especially when it has beautiful pictures.
