Two years have passed since Amelia left Orville. Her senior year of high school had been a mess, her dad’s death being a big reason why. The time away has given her some perspective and now Amelia is ready to face what, and who, she left in her hometown. However, her first night back doesn’t go as planned. Her mom forgets to pick Amelia up at the train station, she falls in the river and almost dies, the police pick her up in the school parking lot, and her brother calls her a monster. Amelia’s only hope for a normal summer resides in reconnecting with her friends, but guilt, fear, and especially her insecurity make even that difficult.
