Oh boy. Great-Uncle Wren’s goofer dust really got me good this time.
When Aras sits in my section at Sadie’s BBQ, I don’t know that he’s a hotshot Australian footballer. All I know is that I’ve got a serious reaction to this player down under. His accent. His rugged good looks. His...uh…well, let’s just say he’s got some skills on and off the field.
I’m not the kind of girl who wears her heart on her sleeve, but Aras is definitely the kind of guy who always offers a woman his coat.
Soon, we threw caution to the wind. And also our clothes.
Love isn’t supposed to happen this fast. Be this intense. But Aras is a player who’s looking to score. And he doesn’t just want me for just one night. When this MVP falls in love, it’s forever. And he’s not stopping until he’s given me a ring...and a baby.
Aras is an Australian soccer player that is currently playing in a league that has come to the United States. He and his teammates stop in Charleston, South Carolina at the area’s famous soul food restaurant. When Zaliya, aka Zee, meets Aras, she feels he is out of her league and not her usual type. However, she is drawn to him and is willing to take a chance on the possibility of love.
This novel is set in the same area of South Carolina that her other novels are set. Sadie’s BBQ makes an appearance again as Zee is one of the waitresses in the restaurant. The love story between Aras and Zee develops and builds quickly has this story is less than 100 pages. This was a nice read for me. In my opinion, this was more like a romance novel where there is dating, kissing, and falling in love and less of a steamy erotic novel. There is a HEA.
Gullah island has plenty of good food places to go. Zaliya is a waitress at Sadie’s BBQ. She has had her fair of good tips from consumers who had the opportunity of finding and eating there. A few football players came from Florida for a meal. THey ar professional players and had a break. Zaliya was the server and agreed to take them on a tour of the Charleston, South Carolina area. Areas from Australia was the one who arrived and stayed to get close to her. Their attraction for each other can lead to across the county the world. But first we need to Have Dad meet him and maybe accept Zaliya being an adult and not his little girl. Great characters and story line. No cliffhanger

I really liked this story, although I did find Zaliyah to be a little annoying. She was just immature. Also there was so much boring backstory that I skipped a few pages ahead. But that being said, the storyline was great and I loved loved loved the inclusion of the Gullah culture. I haven’t seen that a lot in books and I want to see more! Roots and haintx and all that good old down south cooking made me feel a part of home in this book. The steamy scenes were alright. Wish Ok spoiler below so stop reading here.

The only thing that was an absolute no was a plantation wedding because hellllllll no to that. Like so much no. Like why would you write that, I was rooting for you, we were all rooting for you :(
I loved your story girl, it was different from other stories I've read, I loved that fact that even though Zee is black and Aras is white, you didn't write it all over in the story, they met fell in love and had a baby boy, what a great man Aras is, to love a black woman and never say it, all he said was he never dated an American girl I loved it, Zee deserved happiness, she has been through alot, but it all came together in the end, Love, respect and they like eachother, the making love that was written in the book was off the charts, Aras you go homie, so anyway loved your story, I am reading, story about the Soldier next!
This started off good, but I was quickly jolted by how fast Zaliya and Aras was moving into “babes”, “I love yous”, and the like. For me, their dynamic didn’t work in a novella format. For all that the couple experienced, it may have made more sense for “Score” to be a full length novel.
I did like, however, the glimpses we got of the Gullah culture. I don’t think I’ve ever read a romance that featured it. And I do enjoy stories with a strong presence of food, so Sadie’s BBQ was a welcomed touch and a good anchor for the story.
Honestly, there wasn’t anything *terrible* about the book. Just weird pacing and a too prettily tied up ending.
Aras an Aussie soccer player meets a plain Gullie girl who leaves an undeniable mark on his heart..So does he!! How can two completely different people be so perfectly matched...must be true love and fate! Their love is off the charts from the start. They were just meant to be. Their two worlds would have no option but to blend because their love was solid. You found yourself totally vested in their love and the fast pace of the story. Love Zeliyah family and friends. All the characters came across realistically.
They are from two different continents but their love strives all the same. Aras and Zaliya had love at first sight. He is in town visiting when he enters the restaurant she works at. Their conversation leads to a date that becomes so much more. Aras and Zaliya fall hard and fast but can these two build a happily ever after from the swiftness of their relationship? This touching story will have you believing in the power of love.

I like the length and the pace of this story, it’s a quick one hour read. The characters were fun and easy to enjoy, and the author gave great detail on the chemistry between the two main characters. I will read another novella from this author but there is room for improvement. Some of the dialogue was unnecessary and bought you away from the story. Also the whole interracial taboo is played out and doesn’t need to be included I think.
What can I say about Zaliyah and Aras? Zaliyah is a waitress who happens to meet Aras at non other than...the restaurant she works in, Sadie's BBQ. Their relationship is cute, but it took me some time to get acclimated with their feelings for one another and the book is only 89 pages. This novella took me too long to complete and I honestly don't know why. The book wasn't horrible by any means, but the first half of the book dragged.
I liked Aras and Zee, but this book had too much inconsequential talking, it actually bored me. I'm sure my favour6ite novella in this "Sadie's BBQ" series is "Losing It". This one took me far too many attempts to finish, and it's less than 100 pages
The story was cute and a nice short read. Both characters were likeable. My primary complaint is although the men in this story were well described, I had no idea what the females looked like. As descriptive as she was about everything else, I just couldn’t get a feel for the appearance of any of the women.
I really enjoyed this book and the characters! The chemistry between Aras and Zee was smoking hot 🔥! Loved the story line and meeting another couple that connected at Miss Sadie's. It was very entertaining not a whole lot of drama just a good story. I highly recommend it to my fellow romance readers.
Short, sweet and awesome. One of the best short stories I’ve read in a long time. Aras is my kind of man, Zee makes me proud. Loved how their relationship grew deeper. I laughed when a question popped into my head, and was answered in the next line. I love detail like that being given attention even in a short book. The HEA is great.
A little rib joint in Charleston is an unlikely setting for the meet-cute. He's an Aussie on a weekender from practice in FL with his German football team. Just proves it's a small world and love will find a way. A great short story with a lot heat but the editing could be better. And what's a Lady Leopard?
I like short sweet to the point stories without all the fluff! This story checks off those boxes. I really like the genuine qualities of both characters. This story is truly a sweet read and highly recommended.
I like how this story picked up where Broken Resolutions left off at Sadie’s bar and gives an account of one of the workers there. This story was really sweet and funny. I really enjoyed it.
This was a cute short story about 2strangers meeting and finding that rare thing called love at first sight .They beat the odds and made a life together despite what life brought their way .I'm glad that they got their happily ever after.
Bought this book on a whim, just something quick to read. I hate that it ended. Great love story. Just as simple as a man following his heart and a woman not allowing past prejudice to dictate her future. I am a Fan.
I have This book 5 star's because it covered everything. The only thing I disliked, was that it ended. I highly recommend this book, it took me places I've never been. Ms. Violet thank you for six a well-written masterpiece.
If only it was not a fantasy. I love the way it showed how wonderfully magical a relationship could be without deception and lies leading to a wonderful relationship within a marriage. It made me weep.
This was a very quick and easy read. All the characters were likable and down to earth more so than in reality. Finding love was quick for the male and female leads of the story. The sex was great, the food was good and there was absolutely no drama. This was a nice story to read in a day.
Zaliya met Aras at her job waiting tables. He was head over heels in love at first sight! She was awestruck by the handsome stranger. A date to a Charleston landmark changed everything!
A quick romantic storyline of love at first sight! Zaliya and Aras really kept a smile on my face the entire time I read this book! I really enjoyed the ending with Baby Zaras arrival😊
