Lily agrees to go on a date at a restaurant with Jake, whom she's never met. He turns out to be fun, sweet and kind of mysterious. Against her own better judgement, she decides to go home with him—and that turns out to be the biggest mistake of her life.
Jake's parents are out of town, so they have the whole, impressive mansion to themselves. Jake makes Lily a drink, goes upstairs but doesn't come back down. Lily waits patiently for several minutes. Still, no Jake. Finally, she goes upstairs to look for him. And that's when the horror begins ...
If you liked Intensity and other heart-pounding thrillers, Blind Date will be perfect for you.

Blind Date: Never Go Home With a Stranger by Nick Clausen
This is one of those cases where the book wasn't bad but it is way more horror then psychological thriller and not the type of book I usually read. I am just not the target audience.
I have to admit it is a bit of a nail biter. It was pretty creepy. This would be a perfect book for someone who likes short stories that lean toward lots of chase sequences and that are pretty fast paced.
SPOILERS:
The ending threw me for a loop..this isn't a bad little book and highly recommended to fans of short stories that lean toward YA thriller.
Looking for a novella that will make you want to walk around your house checking spaces where anyone could potentially hide? Then look no further! Blind Date by Nick Clausen is that book.
Blind Date totally spooked me!
Blind Date begins with our two main characters, Lily and Jake, meeting up for, as I’m sure you could guess, a blind date. The date is going really well! So well that before they know it, the restaurant is closing up.
Neither party wants the night to end just yet, so they head to Jake’s parents home as they were away. This isn’t just any home though. It’s a home that is totally decked out with an advanced security system that only allows you to open doors to enter or exit using a phone that is properly programmed.
The two mix drinks and then Jake heads upstairs to change. When he doesn’t return, Lily goes to look for him… and that’s when the action really kicks off!
I loved how this went from super cute romance to terrifying action! And the intensity doesn’t let up until the very last page.
This tale was so perfectly written! I highly recommend it if you’re looking for a quick, awesome read that will totally creep you out!
This was a short quick and easy read with a twist at the end. It starts off as the two characters are on a blind date at a restaurant then Lilly decides to go home with her blind date. Once at the house something goes wrong and Lilly goes to investigate and that’s when she discovers that she should have listened to her inner voice of reason. You’ll have to read the book to find out what happens and what Lilly discovers. The twist at the end is unexpected as well. Very good story didn’t see it coming. I would recommend this book to fans of the Author or to fans of suspense with a little romance. A definite must read.
I love the cover. It drew me in straight away. It promises a thrilling story and I couldn't wait to read it.
The story isn't very original and it takes a couple of pages for it to really take off. But then the tension builds up and you want to know what happens next. It's all quite predictable, but still I wanted to keep reading. The tension build-up is nice and there's a surprise at the end (which I saw coming before it was revealed, but it was still a good twist).
Overall it's a nice, easy read, but personally I'm hoping for a more original story next time. The title was well chosen.
I picked this up because it looked to be a quick read and the blurb intrigues me. I was trying to guess the twist once the story started, but didn't get it right. Overall it was a thrilling read and made me curious about some of the author's other books. The story was engaging and well-written and the twist was one that I didn't see coming. An amazing short story and one I adored.
Blah... This book just did not do anything for me. It was such a quick read I finished it in under an hour while at work. But the storyline for me had so much more potential than the book did it justice for. It was so rushed that there was no time to enjoy it or appreciate it. I liked the ending and the little twist it had, that definitely helped the book out, I just wish there was more. Don't get me wrong, I love a quick read, who doesn't?! But this was just way too quick and the storyline was too good for the book to be that short.
The story built the tension needed... And then the climax just disapeared like poof! It starts good, when they get to his house it's mediocre, then it becomes thrilling and it ends like a waste of your time. Why??
Well that was a twisted read! Definitely didn't go the direction I was expecting and I appreciated the twists. This was another good one from Nick Clausen.. 4/5 skulls 💀
Blind Date: Never Go Home With a Stranger by Nick Clausen is a well-written 32-page story. A clever twist near the conclusion caught me completely by surprise. On sale for USD 0.00 on Amazon, this is a win-win read in terms of price and entertainment value for the reader.
Lily was on a first date with Jake; a girlfriend, Georgia, had arranged the get-together and assured Lily that Jake was handsome. Lily concurred only to the extent that Jake was cute enough for her, his smile was attractive, and she could put up with his quirky sense of humor. Lily was impressed that Jake had created and ran an IT company at the age of twenty-one. Lily had a minor regret that she had allowed herself to become so intoxicated, she felt as if she were losing control of herself.
The restaurant closed at 10:00, still too early to go home. When Jake invited Lily to his house for coffee, Lily accepted while debating where the night was going and where she would wake up the following morning. On the way to his home, Jake repeatedly looked at messages on his phone. Annoyed, Lily asked, and Jake replied that he was having trouble with a former business partner. The two had started the IT company and Jake had recently forced his erstwhile partner out. Threatening text messages had annoyed Jake since the company breakup.
Arriving at Jake’s mansion, Lily observed the fruits of Jake’s research and IT app development in action. The house was wholly controlled by the application on Jake’s phone. A security system monitored every room, controlled lights, adjusted the temperature in occupied rooms, and turned appliances on and off. After entering, the phone locked all doors and windows.
Jake went to a bathroom while Lily mixed drinks. Jake was gone a long time. Lily found Jake with a severe head wound caused by a hammer strike; Lily found Jake unconscious in a bathtub and the hammer in a plastic bag in the sink. Someone was in the house. Lily heard the noise as the intruder began searching for something. Lily was able to hide but knew she had to find a way to escape. Waiting for the intruder to leave was not an option. To go, she needed Jake’s phone. Lily would have to emerge from hiding and search Jake’s body for the phone controlling the house. The intruder also had a phone able to control and monitor the home. If Lily moved around the house, the intruder would be able to track her movements. It became apparent after overhearing a phone call that Jake’s partner had hired someone to eliminate Jake. The intruder had detected her perfume; he knew someone was in the house. Then he found her purse.
The action sequences are well-described as the cat-and-mouse game played out. The conclusion is intelligent enough for me to give the story four plus Amazon stars. I will read more by this author because there are links in this book that allow me to get two free novels from the author.
If you're looking for an exciting, short, easy and yet thrilling read, this is it.
Lily is nineteen and has agreed to meet Jake for a blind date (arranged by her friend). He's not perfect but still charming enough that despite the warning in her gut, decides to go home with him on the first date. When he keeps checking his phone, she finds it a bit irritating but forgives him when he explains a badly run business partnership and what the calls are about. And when they arrive at his house, all uneasiness is forgotten. Until he goes upstairs to change clothes and never returns.
This is a short read and every page packs action, tension of character build-up. There's never a boring moment and quite a few surprises. Lily's decision sets off alarm bells right away, but the author weaves this in an unexpected direction. The necessary clues are laid out, heightening suspicion before the thrilling moments begin. And when these begin, I was kept on the edge of my seat.
This read reminds me of a spicy piece of candy. It's short and packs a punch. While I thoroughly enjoyed it, I wish it would have been a tad bit longer. There were several logic holes which a little more length could have filled. Still, it was a super fun read and I enjoyed it.

this book started off so amazing and fast paced everything was happening so quickly the ending was kind of confusing for me . it had a nice amount of pages a good quick read if you like psychological thrillers this book is for you , the writing was nice had a lot of suspense and some unanswered questions in the end but still a good read I can't wait to read more of his stories I would recommend this to my friends and family love LAURA8759.
When I read the summary of this book I honestly didn't know if it was for me but alas, I was wrong.
It started off as the perfect evening between two people that was set up by a friend. Once dinner was over and they decided to continue the evening at his house, this turned from romantic to horrifyingly sinister.
It had a twist at the end that I wasn't expecting and left me wanting more. This is a short novella that I would recommend to anyone that likes thrillers, romance, and a slight amount of mystery. There is something for everyone.

One thing that confused me was that after the horrors that happened in the house, the author made it seem like Jake survived and Lily was visiting him in the hospital. I feel like the author should have italicized the part where Lily was in fact dreaming about this.

This author is a genius at writing shorter stories that are fully packed with horror and fright! I love this story as it grabbed me immediately as I anticipated what must be coming! You cannot completely guess! It is so intense and well-written. Since I love short stories I hope that the author ignores people who mark down this book for being a short story because it takes talent to write a good short story and this author has it!

This was a super quick read (I timed it, it took me 40 minutes). But it was good.
This is a thriller about the dangers of going home with a stranger at the end of a blind date. You'd think, with only about 30 pages, that it would be hard to throw in a plot twist. And yet, Clausen manages it. And manages it well.
There isn't too much more I can say without spoiling something, but if you like a good fast-paced thriller, check this out. I dove in without even reading a synopsis, like a blind date with a book, and I think that's the best way to read this.
ARC provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.
I didn't think I could find such a short book so entertaining.... I was wrong. I'll never figure out how Nick Clausen keeps you so interested in finding out what happened to characters you've know for 20 pages. I couldn't stop until I figured out what happened.
If you're looking for a short story, definitely pick this one up.
Nick Clausen has done it again, managing to pack thrills and chills into a short, easy read! I was NOT expecting the twist ending, and to be honest, I wasn't very happy with it either, but don't let that keep you from reading it (I'm just a sucker for happy endings, no matter what). The romance is secondary to the thriller aspect, and those thrills came from an unexpected angle, which kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. A great short horror story to past a bit of time!
Blind Date is a short thriller, that got me from the first page. It's about the blind date of Jake and Lily with a terrible end. Lily decides to go home with Jake and that's where everything goes wrong, but not like you think it will. This book surprised me more than once and I loved the plot at the end. All in all ist a nice suspenseful short thriller for everyone that loves thrillers, that aren't transparent.
Blind Date is a great well thought out, original, suspenseful, and thrilling. I really enjoyed this book. Really good plot to the story. Very well written. Would highly recommend it to anyone who likes this kind of stories. Can't wait to read more from this author. Fast-paced to the end.
I received a free copy of this book. This review was posted voluntarily.
The tag line says it all - never go home with a stranger. Lily’s blind date with Jake goes better than expected, but things take a dark turn when she decides to go back to his place, and the situation is complicated by Jake’s state of the art security system. An enjoyable, quick read. Like Nick Clausen’s other works, the characters are likeable and real and the situation is tense.
I totally understand that this was a short story but, I was all in into they got to the house. I won't say anything else because I don't want to tell the story but.. I agree don't go home with a stranger. Just so very confused how it was written
Jake & Lily had an interesting book. This was a very short, quick read. But keeps you on your toes like it's you there. I'm voluntarily leaving an honest review for a free copy of the book via booksprout.
Obvious from the first pages that the ex partner would be the killer or hire someone to kill jake by the authors use of the weird text from the ex partner. The ending was pretty good fake obviously as no one could survive a blow to the head from a hammer and loose so much blood. Decent book.

A great, suspenseful short read. I really liked the Female MC and her date. The bad guys were easy to hate. This was a fun story to read. The twist at the end I definitely wasn't expecting. Great twist!!
