A nice little adventure story with some of my favourite characters. Perhaps a bit more juvenile than I usually like but it was short and quick to read, so perfect for my train journey!
We enjoyed this one! It's fairly simplistic and predictable, but Lily was captivated enough to finish it, which is saying something. It's always fun spending time with favorite characters.
I love Disney. I love Frozen. I love buying books that I haven’t read and then leaving them on my bookshelf for a few years. Good thing I only paid a couple dollars for this at a thrift store. Plus, I finally got around to it!
I have been reading quite a few Middle Grade lately and I’m not sure why but at least they are back-listed titles.
This one was a cute story following our favorite characters as they go on an adventure to help Little Rock earn his crystal. I also enjoyed that each character told their favorite story about the Northern Lights.
There is also pages talking about the Northern Lights with photos and facts from history.
Overall, I enjoyed this one! It was a quick and easy read plus I got to read about some of my favorite Disney characters.
It's a magical adventure. I listened to this on Audible, and it was very nice to listen to during some mundane work. In my opinion it was entertaining and I liked the style, story, but I do wish there was more Elsa and that she wasn't just standing in the background most of the time - to me she felt invisible only until a magical solution was needed or it was her turn to tell a story. I did really enjoy more of the troll lore and I have my own theory that somehow the ice/snow crystals the trolls use have something to do with Elsa's magic, similar to how the Queen of Corona used the magic of the golden flower. Overall very good for a Frozen book but not quite movie material. I wish that there will be more adventures before Frozen 2 comes out.
This book took me absolutely forever to read, and given that it's got a second grade reading level, that really shouldn't happen. The quest, such as it is, wasn't exactly exciting, and even the problems weren't all that interesting. I lost interest so many times, and kept putting this book down. I was sorely disappointed, and so were my kids who have an entire 'meh' attitude about this particular story, much as they actually like Frozen.
I really had hoped this would be a lot more interesting than this, especially because it's a nice long story in a world that we already enjoy. I'm sorry I wasted my money on this when I bought it for the kids for Christmas.
A spinoff series to Frozen for particularly young readers? The novelization of the movie seemed to be geared for a (very) slightly older reading audience, but then, at those ages, half a year can have drastically differently levels of reading comprehension.
I honestly don't care at all for the trolls in the movie (glad they didn't show up in 2), and I usually never like original characters created for spinoffs like this, so having an original character troll is like a double whammy of pain. Maybe some young readers will *really* be into it, but I personally think even the youngest of readers would have preferred if the story focus more on the characters from the actual, you know, *movie*.
Also, the original character troll is named Little Rock. Listening to the phrase "Little Rock" repeated continuously in the audiobook doesn't seem like it would be a big deal until you actually do it, and then it is a test of patience and wondering why a published author couldn't have come up with a better name than *Little Rock* of all things. (In Francis's defense, Disney undoubtedly strictly controls everything in all of their properties, including undoubtedly spinoffs that not many people will likely ever learn exists, so it's very likely that that name was picked for her by Disney and she just had to roll with it.)
This book was really interesting. I enjoyed reading it, and for the most part, the characters acted like the ones from the movie. I was interested in the majority of the book, and I didn't want to put it down. The only thing I didn't like about it was the way parts of the book were written. The story was great the characters were fun, but the writing wasn't great and it took away from the story.
I'm not going to rate this book as it's definitely not intended for someone my age reading it, but this was the perfect short and easy read that I needed. Frozen has a special place in my heart and this little story was a nice little addition to add to the tale.
This is a super cute book that has my kids entertained every time we read it. They love the movie Frozen and they love to be outside and explore so this book is a great read for them!
This story drug in forever and forever. It could have been so much shorter. It’s really a short story that someone added a ton of extra not needed parts to make it 200 pages
This is probably the longest chapter book I have read to Payton. She was very engaged in listening most of the time. The story is mostly about a troll and these crystals and how he's trying to earn a tracking crystal. Anna, Elsa, Kristoff, Olaf and Sven help. The Northern Lights are also important. A section in the middle of the book shows some pictures of the northern lights.
This book taught me more about trolls and how the Northern Lights are important to them. I especially enjoyed the factual insert with photos. The part where all the characters shared their stories was my next favorite. I loved all the references to the original story. Each time Elsa used her powers is a good example of a reference. My only complaint is the book is too short.
