Four of them. One of me. Who will give in first?

It started when they stole me from my life. The daughter of a crime lord who ruled with an iron fist. The heir to a family of blood and ruin.

They left only a whisper of a name in the air. Il Diavolo. A man whose reputation preceded him. Ruthless. Merciless. Cunning.

The one they called the Devil. He was as beautiful as he was terrifying. Except I wasn't scared of him or his three friends. They might want to use me in their quest for revenge, but they picked the wrong girl. Or maybe I was the right one and none of us knew it quite yet.

Our connection is undeniable. Our fates are entwined. But loyalty and lies keep us all locked in a battle of wills and denial.

There’s only one thing I know for certain in this fight between the five of us. Secrets always catch up with you in the end. And my secrets were the worst ones of all.

A dark why choose (MMFMM) romance series set in Sarah Bailey's Dark Universe with cliffhangers and a HEA in the final book.

This is a DARK romance and therefore comes with a content warning. Please see authors website for full details.

I’m not sure if it’s a case of „it’s not you, it’s me“, as there are several good reviews out there, but I gave up on this after rolling my eyes so hard I might get a headache. Let me recap - a mafia princess, abducted by 4 (ofc sinfully hot) equally shady guys, stripped naked, chained in a dungeon, falling madly in lust after what - 2 days? That’s so ridiculous, I actually feel sympathy for her abductors for being forced to have a HEA (eventually) with a FMC like that.

I didn't like the formula of this book. The main heroine is kidnapped, humiliated and mistreated, yet she lusts after her captors and has sex with the biggest jerk in the bunch, all within three days of her captivity. I like slow and medium burn romance books because I love the build up and development of relationships. This moved way too fast. Within the first one hundred pages, all the guys were in love with Ash and vice versa... it seemed very unrealistic and simply not satisfying. It ended on a pretty interesting cliffhanger though and I'm tempted to see if it gets any better.

Boy, was I excited when this puppy showed up on my Kindle! I've been looking forward to reading Sarah Bailey's Devil's Syndicate series for some time now and this is the first book of what will be a five book dark romance reverse harem series. I'm not a huge fan of dark romance because I feel that the female characters sometimes aren't strong and don't always have the full level of consent. In the beginning of this book I did struggle with that a bit, since Ash is kidnapped, but Ms. Bailey does an excellent job of showing Ash's POV so we do see her growing into her feelings about the boys, as confusing as they might be. And, oh, the boys! Hello, sexiness! Quinn is our "bad guy" leader off the bat, although we eventually get a window into his character. As with most of this author's characters, she does a great job with the development and evolution of the characters. Quinn, Eric, Xavier and Rory are all equally interesting and I absolutely LOVE the multiple POVs. The author is even clever enough to put each character's name in a different font as their chapter begins, as if to represent the "mood" of their POV. I thought that was so well done. All in all, although I'm not a huge fan of dark romances, I'm always a huge fan of Ms. Bailey's because she does such a damn fine job at developing the stories and characters. Oh, and the sexy times are HOT. Heck yes. Can't wait for the next book to steam up my Kindle! A MUST READ for any dark romance fans!

Great another group of guys I’m going to obsess over. This is a very diverse group of guys with all very different personalities. But they all start to become fascinated and intrigued by Ashleigh, their captive.

The four take Ashleigh as part of their plan for revenge. Ash is the daughter and heir to a very powerful and dangerous man. Quinn, Rory, Xavier, and Eric all have planned to take Frank Russo down by using her. But what they didn’t expect was how Ash would affect them and work her way under their skin. It becomes clear that she’s nothing like her father. Up to this point Ash has only been with Quinn, who has claimed her for his own. But Ash has made it clear she’s not a possession and finds herself wanting to know all of them..

Loved this start to the series. Enjoyed learning about the dynamics between the men and finally about their plans with Ash and her father. Can’t wait to see what happens when Ash finally takes what she wants.

This is an utter mess, first of all I have never seen a more meek heroine dear god like girl was literally kidnapped and then sucking cock like the next day...a backbone please. She bended to Quinn’s will instantly and any fight she picked purely to try to sell her as some sort of strong woman character was dumb and then her feelings were just trampled on by any of the guys. The whole like magic smile/ insta lust-love thing was meh I didn’t hate it. What I did hate tho was the ending, tjis bitch admits that Casey, Quinn’s brother, tried to rape her and then brags about it but still tries to go like “I tried not to have him killed” girl...he should be brutally tortured for life like why tf do we have pages of her crying and trying to say she didn’t want her attempted rapist dead it was nasty

They kidnapped her right under her father's nose for what he and his princess did. They would make sure both of them were destroyed. Who? A man who ran a prominent crime family in London. What Quinn, Xavier, Eric, and Rory didn't realize when they took her was how much of an effect she would have on their lives. This book took off from the beginning and didn't stop until the end. The chemistry and sexual tension that continues to build throughout the book builds as the five of them try to get to know each other. But will they like what they find? You won't want to miss this first book of Sarah Bailey's "The Devil's Syndicate" series.

Wow spicy!!!

This is the first book I've read of Sarahs and I wasn't disappointed
It's based on Ash who's kidnapped by Quinn, Rory, Xav and Eric.
Without spoilers it's a great story full of angst, spice and moodiness.
I'd definitely recommend to anyone who likes mafia romance especially on the steamy side.

Major cliffy! But such a good one! It left me dying for the next book in series!

Wow, oh wow, this book! I love Ms. Baily's Corrupt Empire and Benson Siblings series. So I was thrilled about The Devil's Syndicate! Let me say she did not disappoint. The drama, tension, steamy scenes, and endearing characters have hooked me.

First off, Quinn had me in knots throughout the book. Some good, some bad. I probably shouldn't like him as much as I do, but I like what I like! He's a sexy and serious, no bullshit man. I love that about him. He and best friends Xavier, Eric, and Rory are all unique characters and incredibly close.

Now Ashleigh, Ash. The girl frustrated me, but she wasn't offputting, and given her situation, HELLO, she was kidnapped! I can show her some grace. And she's young at 21. She's been through a lot and is confused about a lot of things, especially the attraction she feels toward all four men who happen to be her captors. It gets dicey because Quinn has claimed Ash as his own. Dang are tensions high among the guys and Ash. You just gotta read it to find out why.

I'm so intrigued to see how all five of these characters come together in this reverse harem! I'm ready for Defied!

OMG OMG OMG super addictive super hot on the edge of my seat good!!!!!!
WoW WoW WoW
Ashleigh is the daughter of the crime lord and he was ruthless, he had no heart and he never let anyone disrespect him or his family. He wanted a son but he only had Ashleigh and he never shielded her from their world. She would be taking over one day and had to learn how to be a killer. He didnt care that she wanted nothing to do with his world he would do anything to show her the lengths she would have to go.
One night while her father and mother were throwing a party she is kidnapped by 4 men who were amazingly sexy but the leader didnt look very happy to have her near him which is stupid seeing as they took her. What had her father done to these men.
She wakes again naked not knowing why and it didnt look like these sexy men were going to tell her. The Leader Quinn looked at her will pure hatred. She didnt understand why?? The other three Xavier, Eric and Rory looked a little bit uncomfortable but like they wouldn't go against the leader.
In this first book we watch the interaction between these men who want and fight their feelings for Ash.
There are so many twists and turns that your head just wont stop spinning and you just wont see them coming. And I cant believe the cliff hanger you left me on. OMG REALLY REALLY!!!!!!!! I NEED MORE PLEASE AND I NEED THE NEXT BOOK NOW!!!!!! AN OUTSTANDING READ!!!!!!

Ok I’m so conflicted about my rating for this book. Sarah Bailey is a new for me author and I had seen this book recommended in a book group I’m in and decided to give it a chance. I love reading mafia romance and the fact that it’s also RH sounded perfect for me.

My issues came in because I honestly just really did not connect with any of the characters. Ash is kidnapped by Quinn, Xaz, Eric, and Rory as part of a plan to weaken her father who is a mafia crime boss. I think I was just wanting Ash to fight and stand up for herself more instead of begging her kidnappers for s*x literally 3 days into her kidnapping 😒 The guys all treat her like absolute sh*t, but it never really seemed to matter because she is instantly attracted to all of them because they are all so good-looking. And of course the guys are all immediately obsessed with Ash even though she never really does anything either 🤷‍♀️ I also really didn’t like Quinn’s nickname “little girl” for Ash. It made me cringe every time I read it and to me it was waaaaaayyyyy overused 😬

I’m intrigued enough by the story and especially after that ending that I’m debating on starting book 2 to see if it gets any better, but I’m honestly not dying to continue this series. I know a ton of people love this book/series so I would still check it out especially if you like mafia romance, but it just wasn’t 100% my cup of tea.

She was determined but broken by the cruelty of her family!
by sewsummore

This book quickly grabbed my attention and never allowed it to be released. Ash was a gangster's daughter and heir. Her had been kidnapping had been an act of revenge, but the desire for revenge began to dissipate as her captors learned more about the woman she was. Ash was determined but broken by the cruelty of her family. No longer innocent in the ways of the mob, there was a yearning inside of her to be loved and accepted for who she was, not what she represented. As Ash came to care for her captors, they, in turn, cared for her. She never wanted to leave. There is much more to her story, but you will have to buy the book to read more. At the end of this book is a cliffhanger leading into the next book, so be warned!

Wow! First this is book 1 of a series, it ends in a cliffhanger! There are 5 very interesting and different characters! Ash is the Mafia Boss daughter who is taken by 4 men. Quinn is the leader of the pact. He is dark and dominant. Rory, is the youngest of the group. He is Quinn's best friend. He is also very quiet, hates human contact and very aware! Xavier is the emotional, heart on his sleeve type and best friends with Eric the cook, the gentleman, who is secretly in love with Xavier. At first it seems this is the romance between Quinn and Ash. It is hot and steamy. It slowly evolves into something else. It is a great read!

Ashleigh Russo mafia bosses daughter only child and being groomed to take over the empire, now she had been taken by four men logically she should be scared ideally should wanted to stay, away from her parents, the isolated way she lived in her families clutches. Think 4 horsemen of the apocalypse and it sums up these guys there isn't a label for them they they will do what's needed, this was a dark suspense romantic mix up which was truly captivating. Loved it.

Be still my beating heart & libido!
Oh my, my first intro to this author & I'm in for the long haul. Flawless craftsmanship, compelling, deeper than many dark & erotic novels. It spoke to me on so many levels & I can't wait for Book 2, I invariably give up on cliffhangers but this one has me hooked & impatient for more. This is no ordinary dark mafia romance, this will make your heart race with the tension, your toes curl with desire & you may be hooked line & stinker like me. Highly recommended.

Deceived: The Devil’s Syndicate Book One by Sarah Bailey is a brand new series from the author of the “Corrupt Empire” dark romance, employing similar themes but with some fresh new characters and context. Ashleigh Russo, or Ash as she prefers, is the daughter and heir apparent to the infamous Russo crime family. This is not a preferred status for young Ash, as she’s been lamenting the prospects of running this malicious criminal empire, and has been used by family and lover alike. After a bad breakup with a man who was clearly just using her to gain rank in the family, Ash is sulking her way through an exclusive get-together at the Russo compound. Yes, dad, mom and ex are clogging her mind, but this mysterious brooding quartet of handsome men seem to be taking an interest, and it’d be fair to say the feeling is somewhat mutual. After putting it aside, and as Ash looks to retire for the night, she’s suddenly grabbed and drugged, completely out cold until waking up in a cold cell, naked and helpless. The world is turning upside down, but nothing could be as it seems… or could it?

If you’re a veteran of a Sarah Bailey novel, the first notice will be to the chapter length. For the most part, the chapters are shorter, taking pause after each moment and then quickly changing perspectives with each chapter. There are five key moving parts here, Ash of course, and the four men known as the Syndicate Boys: Quinn, Xav, Rory, and Eric. Each character is unique, and I was quite surprised how easy it was to remember the differences between each one, as I often fail in this area in other novels. Each male is important to the story, but the most important focus in Book One is Quinn, the undisputed leader of this antihero group. Quinn’s unique feelings for Ash are for unclear personal reasons, but the goal is simple: tearing down the Russo family; one brick at a time.

The dark romance elements would be clear to any reader, but the notion of kidnapping combined with the lust involved was difficult to process in the first part of the book. I made a snap decision and labeled Quinn as a monster. He called himself the devil and as it turns out, I got sucked in to the character’s own hype. I allowed the character to intimidate me as the reader, and as such became vulnerable to him. With subjects like this, I continue to make the mistake of injecting my own context into a fictional story. I don’t know these people. I’m not their friend, I’m not their lawyer, they don’t live and love anything like I would. What’s brutal and wrong if we heard about it from our friend or family member couldn’t apply the same way here. This author’s Corrupt Empire series started with cold blooded murder, uncompromising and completely chilling. What proceeded the murders could never have been viewed as “worse,” not to mention how soon we learned those people probably deserved to die, with the male protagonist a victim himself. This Syndicate series takes the crescendo approach instead. Ash’s abduction, while scary, was more chilling for its efficiency than any brutality. She wakes up and is duly caged and chained with the calculated finesse of the very worst of humanity. Quinn is captivated by Ash’s sexual energy, and there are some very uncomfortable moments before we learn Ash’s own conflict to the matter. Slowly but surely, we learn not only of how Ash’s personal history leads to her interest in this unique style of budding romance, but how this whole household is about to realize and confront some closely guarded feelings.

Verdict: Deceived by Sarah Bailey is an appropriately powerful start to a fresh dark romance series that’s quick to challenge the reader with their own concepts of love and romance. With five main characters there is a refreshing give’n’take to the dominant character’s feelings, and we can learn more about each one organically. If you can compartmentalize the harsh truths of what brought these people to this moment, the characters themselves each have a level of depth that rewards with every turn of the page. If the lead dom’s antics frustrated me last chapter, maybe his cohort’s toy collections or captivating conservatory will make up for it with creative and even soothing character exposition. While it wouldn’t be a good “pitch” or example of a healthy budding poly relationship given the context, it’s a wonderful examination of the elements that could make it so rewarding. This is a fantastic start to a new series, and most any fan of the genre will be looking to devour what’s next from the quill of the undisputed Queen of Steam.

Special Thanks to Sarah Bailey for providing an advanced review copy of Deceived to TehBen.com. All thoughts and opinions are our own.

Decieved is the first in the Devil's Syndicate series and a first for Sarah Bailey as it marks her first dark reverse harem romance debut.

She does a fantastic job at introducing four very impressionable men who are, as far as Ashleigh Russo is concerned, her kidnappers and her father's enemies.
But they're no match for Ash, who isn't the typical prim and proper daughter of a crime boss they'd thought she'd be. She has enough secrets to rival the renowned Il Diavolo aka Quinn Knox.

It's those secrets, topped with a sprinkling of distrust, "shouldn'ts" and steamy encounters which make this first book intriguing and twisty.

Just as it's difficult for Ash, it's also difficult for me to not love each man and their unique personalities. Quinn is the leader, he's dominant, aggressive and impatient as hell (admittedly I was on the fence just because he vexed me many times and had me leaning towards the other boys but that DOES change - it goes to show just how much personality these characters have). Rory has SO much mystery about him, he's that quiet assessing type you just want to unravel and interview like something out of Interview with a Vampire. Eric is the adoring mediator who is literally the heart of the group and can do no wrong in my eyes. Xavier is the caring type who I immediately loved since his first appearance because he isn't afraid to butt heads with the hot-headed Quinn.

When I mean this book is twisty, I mean it really is twisty. So many things are set up. There's a lot to anticipate. A lot of emotions. A lot of "it's getting hot in here" moments. But it's not messy, and that's the important thing. This is the first time we're seeing multiple POVs from Sarah Bailey and it's fun, I love it. I love learning more about these men and guessing what roles they will each come to play in Ash's life.

Let's not talk about the cliffhanger. I only have love for cliffhangers when I have the next book in my possession to dive straight into. What I will say is the cliffhanger was palpitation inducing (the highest compliment).

As always, I'm always blown away by Sarah's stories and this, having been something very very new and at first questionable (for me), has me incredibly devoted and very excited to continue this journey.

Another dark, enthralling series by Bailey that will keep you on edge from the first page to the last. Her Corrupt Empire and Benson Siblings’ series were outstanding but this new series pushes one step further with a reverse harem twist. Deceived is bold, daring, dangerous and full of twists and turns that will hold you in suspense all the way through the story and a deliciously dangerous cliffhanger.

As with Bailey’s other series, her writing grabs you in such a way that you are immediately drawn to the characters and by writing in multiple POVs the story is even more compelling because it feels like you are really getting inside that character’s head and seeing their side of things and experiencing their emotions with them. Each of her characters’ in this read has an allure that will entice you to learn more about them. They have very different personalities but an unwavering bond of trust, commitment, and friendship forged from the tragedies of their youth. A few snippets regarding their background are shared but nothing in-depth yet; however, I am sure that will change as the series moves forward.

Each of the guys (Quinn, Xavier, Rory, and Eric) is introduced and has a voice in this first book but Quinn’s is the loudest and most dominant. He is a little off-putting to me, actually, some of his actions and reactions were a bit over the top and a few walked the line of crazy obsession but there were also a few things that made me pause and see him differently so I have hope for him; I am crossing my fingers. I enjoyed Xav, Rory, and Eric’s characters more and I am looking forward to learning more about each of them in the stories to come; especially Rory. I was really drawn to his character most.

On Ashleigh (Ash), the verdict is still out on her, for me. Even though she is an adult, in her early twenties, she still seems very ‘young’ emotionally, to me, and some of her actions/reactions slightly bordered on childish. She is the ‘innocent’ light to their dark, however, and brings hope and goodness into the lives. Her emotions are all over the place from first, being who she is – the family name she has to bear; second, being the heir to a twisted, corrupt, depraved legacy she wants no part of; third, being kidnapped and thrust into an unknown situation; and last, her attachment and confusing feelings towards her captors. She has a lot to deal with and sort out and I hope she will mature more as the series progresses.

This is a dark romance series and it has some elements that will push comfort zones. However, this book is also balanced with love, devotion, trust, friendship, betrayal, steamy scenes, funny moments, and suspense throughout. There is also, a cliffhanger at the end of this first book so you will want to read the series in order for full understanding and enjoyment.

This was an excellent start for this series. So far I like all the characters other than the FMC. I overall have an issue with meek heroines and Ash fits that bill so far. I have hopes that the MMCs are going to build her up into a warrior, so I’m reserving total judgement on her for right now.

Quinn is a total dick alphahole. He doesn’t have too many redeeming characteristics right now other than his obvious protective nature over them all. I hope he gets some awesome growth in the series.

Xavier is a freaking doll. So far he’s probably my favorite. I love how he calls her Angel *swoon* 🥰 He just seems like he truly would be happy only being able to comfort the FMC and I appreciate the hell out of that. He may lust after her, but you could tell if she friend zoned him, he would still love her regardless.

Rory is my favorite stereotype… the quiet, broken, nerdy one. Only speaks when he has something to say, but talks the most to the FMC. I have a feeling that by the end of the series he’s going to be my favorite of the guys. I’m calling it now.

Eric is the quintessential gentlemen. He’s probably the only one that likes the FMC, but would never act on his feelings even the slightest bit (or at least never make the first move). I’m interested to see how the gap gets bridged between them. I have a feeling it will be Xavier 😉😏

I’m enjoying all the intrigue and secrets. There isn’t even a little hint of anything and then BAM you get smacked with something. I love not having any freaking clue what’s going to come out next. I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book!

Thank you, sir!

One night. One party. One turn of events that turned my life upside. Now they have me, but what do they want from me?

First things first, I have finally picked this book up after it set on my kindle for a little while. I am so sad I did not read it sooner. It was so good! The twist and turns at the end. I didn’t see them coming. I loved the mystery that came with the book and not knowing why certain things happened until the end. Those spicy scenes, um….. YESSS!

Ash was immediately one of my favorite characters that I have ever read. The way she tried her best to stay strong. The way she kept fighting before submitting. By the ending of the book, she finally put her foot down. She’s beautifully broken and I cannot wait to see her progress in the next book.

I can already guarantee with 100% positivity, I am going to fall in love with them all. Quinn kind of has me on a roller coaster. One minute I’m like NO, and then the next minute I’m like, YES SIR. Rory already has taken my heart. Whether that speaks volumes about me or what. Who knows. I need this man! I think Xavier and Eric are the cutest ever. I just cannot wait to see how the dynamic changes and how everyone handles sharing.

With all that being said, I enjoyed reading this book. I also recommend giving this book a shot if you haven’t already. I am immediately onto the next one because I can’t wait!

So – this was brilliant. Okay better than brilliant. Deceived is a bit of a slow burn RH as we don’t really get a lot of harem in the first book but it does not detract from the story in the least.

I am a huge fan of the whole hate / love is a thin line premise in stories and this one is a doozy. I mean what could be more hate / love than feeling attracted to your kidnappers? Or even worse… falling in love with them?

Maybe having your kidnapper fall in love with you?

Ash is a really cute character. So completely naive and innocent for a mafia boss’ daughter. So soft and sweet that you kind of want to kick the guys in the nuts for daring to kidnap, embarrass and hurt Ash. But once you get to know them too you kind of get over your need to kick and start developing this need to kiss.

As were mostly focused on Ash and Quinn’s relationship in the first book I will start with them. I am a fan of the BDSM genre and this is really well written. Ash gets to know a whole other part of herself when Quinn’s control freak side starts poking at her. (Pun intended). Then we get introduced to some other dynamics. Some secret feelings, some scary past relationships and even some biggish twists. Can Ash trust her feelings for Quinn and trust that he really does want to protect her above all else.
