I read it after reading "Bookwoman of Troublesome Creek" which I thought was fantastic. I knew of the plagerism comments about the "Giver of Stars" but I loved Jo Jo Moyes other books and hence wanted to read her latest one too. I enjoyed both books and felt that they differed enough in plots (bigotry toward bluepeople of Kentucky was not in "Giver" which made "Bookwoman" a fascinating read) that I was able to feel pleased that I had read both and saw "Giver of Stars" as it's own story covering it's own issues (the flooding from the coal mine's sludge ponds, the brutality of men toward 'their' women even if the men were so called high class and not necessarily ignorant hillbillies, etc. ) I enjoyed the romantic stories of "Giver" as Moyes intertwined them with the goings on of the Packwoman libraries. Occasionally, I found the story line a bit unbelievable but not enough to distract me from the storyline overall. All in all, I'm glad I read "Giver".
