Love this series. The settings are well described and make you feel like you are really visiting the area. Sabrina is younger than in past stories and this book filled in some of the time between the birth of her daughter and when her daughter attends the police academy. Really enjoy the characters and the plots twists and turns. This book is an excellent addition to your cozy mystery library. Purchased the book through Kindle Unlimited and am very glad I did.
***I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
This book was good. It kept my interest throughout. I have done one other review of this author and i enjoyed that one too but i am not following any of her series. I wasn't lost at all but i am sure if you follow the series in order you would be more familiar with the characters. I did find it strange that seeing one stranger in a parking lot would warrant calling in a sketch artist.
Narrator* She drove me nuts. Please, don't get me wrong, she has a wonderful voice. But like i've said in some of my other reviews...A great voice an audiobook narrator does not make. Her voice was great until she tried changing it for the different characters. Maybe stick with non-fiction? I would love listening to a non-fiction book performed by this narrator.
All in all, I will continue to request this author's books from Audiobook boom when i see them listed.
Claire Blakely is a lovely 17-year old girl who lives with her loving father. Unfortunately, she is missing. The case conjures up some old memories for Sabrina, since her 19-year old sister, Jessica, disappeared many years earlier.
Sabrina and her husband, Detective Dave Carlson are both stressed over the young lady's disappearance as they work to find a solution.
To compound matters for Sabrina, her biological father, Walter Cobb, appears out of the clear blue. He says he wants to be a part of her life again. He deserted the family while she was very young and never even tried to communicate with her for the last 40-odd years. Why is he trying to come back now?
Where has Sabrina’s father been for the past 40 years? What does he hope to gain from his return? Where is Claire Blakely? Did she run away? If so, why? Can Dave and Sabrina find the missing girl before something serious happens to her?
Meredith Potts has again created a page turner with enough intrigue to keep the reader’s attention late into the night with great characters and believable situations.
I loved this story so much, it’s the perfect story to listen to on a hot day. It sure made me long for a visit to the lakes. It was fun reading about an amateur sleuth who are also a mother, and follow the twists and turns of the mystery. I will add books from this author to my wishlist. The narrator did an amazing job at bringing the story to life.
I really enjoy the fact that it is a short mystery, but that is about all. The authors writing is not the type of writing I enjoy so it was very hard to finish the book. I was caught up on the words being used, the repeats, the phrases, that it was hard to focus on the story.
I hate when I start a book and have no clue. Was there a book before this one? The author wrote this story as if we, the reader, knew the back story of the main characters. You got some information on the characters but not much. Writing style needs a lot of help. Will not be reading the next book.
This was okay and a nice easy listen, good for filling in a few hours but not my favourite story in the series. Mainly because Sabrina or he husband didn't do much investigating or questioning people or suspects, just kept on about how it was a difficult case and might not get solved , in fact if the killer hadn't gone nuts they might not have solved it at all. You did get to learn more about Sabrina's life growing up which was interesting. When Claire goes missing it bring up old memories from the past as there is no suspects or witnesses. In fact Sabrina struggles to come up with a clue, believing she is burnt out she decided to leave the case to her husband and take there five year old daughter out of town to recharge and hopefully away from all the stress she will come up with an idea to solve the case. Little did she knew she would get more than she was bargaining for. The narrator is quite different and has a way of making everything sound dramatic or like a question is being asked.
Another great book, #5 in the series but a great stand alone book. Sabrina's father reappears and she thought he was trying to rebuild the relationship. A 17 year old disappeared. Sabrina amateur dleuth starts thinking of old memories of her 19 year old sister who disappeared over a decade ago. Walter Cobbhad been gone 40 years sadley all he wanted was money from Sabrina, not a relationship. She even if she wanted too did not have money so doesn't give him any money and breaks away from him. Sabrina's daughter is named after her missing sister, Jessica. She lets us know it took almost 11 years before they found her sister who went jogging and never returned. She was discovered buried a d the murderer is in prison. This case messes with Sabrina. You have to read to see how it turns out. I love this clean, fsmily friendly book without gore, sex, or foul language. Enjoy
One of the best part of Meredith Potts's books is the baked goods, this one have cookies. This story is in between the Daley Buzz and Mystery of Treasure Cove series, letting us have a look at Sabrina while she is raising her daughter Jessica. And a little different, we don't have a murder to solve this time. We have Claire, missing just like Sabrina's older sister and this one hits very close to home. I love these stories. They are quick and easy to listen to, make me think and have characters I have come to love! We get to escape to Sabrina's vacation home and actually have some doubt of whether she will be able to solve this one! It's a fun quick listen, and Lili Dubuque brings it all to life wonderfully.
I listened to a copy of this book. I found the narrator/reader very enjoyable.
The story is not a typical cozy. By that I mean, it does not put down the police or law enforcement – there is a healthy respect for them. The sleuth does not intentionally put herself in danger.
I found it refreshing, well-written and there were plenty of red herrings to keep you wondering who might have abducted Claire.
Sabrina was trying hard not to get on an emotional roller coaster when she learned from Dave of Claire’s abduction.
I was amazed at how grown up and non-fluff this mystery was. I will read many more from this author.
A frightening disappearance and a sinister stranger
A teenage girl has disappeared and there are no clues. The similarity to the disappearance of Sabrina’s sister Jessica is frightening. The subsequent realization that a strange man is following her and the stunning reveal of his identity is enough to rattle her. Although her detective husband, David, could use her help on the case, he agrees that Sabrina and their daughter need a mini-vacation at the cottage on the lake but a restful weekend is not in their future.
The characters are relatable and their interactions are believable. I really like this series.
Once again a young woman has vanished from Treasure Cove. The first time was over twenty years ago and it was Sabrina's sister, so Sabrina feels more stressed than most about the failure of of her detective husband's police officers to find the least scrap of a clue. When her mother's first husband shows up at her door seeking forgiveness for abandoning them all those years ago it is just too much. So she packs up a few things and her young daughter and heads off to the family lake cottage. But she just can't escape fate. Brief, but a good read.
Sabrina Carlson is an amateur sleuth, who occasionally assists her police detective husband on cases. When a young woman disappears from the peaceful town of Treasure Cove, the case becomes personal...Sabrina's sister had been kidnapped and murdered when she was a teen. As Sabrina deals with life with a family, a possible stalker and working on this case, will the kidnapper begin to focus on her and her 5yo daughter? Quick, clean mystery that will leave you saying 'I did not see that coming'. I accepted a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Sabrina needs a get away when the investigation into the disappearance of a young woman bogs down and memories of her sister's murder are all to fresh. Little does she know that her get away may provide exactly the clue needed to solve the case in this cozy mystery featuring Meredith Potts' familiar investigative duo of Sabrina and David Carlson. Potts always weaves an entertaining story, and this one kept me guessing through to the very end which is exactly what I want in a mystery. An enjoyable afternoon's entertainment.
This is the start of another ARC in the Treasure Cove series which features Sabrina Carlson. It takes place five years after Daley Buzz series and before the Mysteries of Treasure Cove.
Sabrina and David’s Jessica is now five years old and wants to be a detective. We see the happily couple get involve in another case like they usually do. Fans will enjoy seeing more of their sleuthing abilities and watch them influence their daughter even as a young age.
When a missing person case comes up, Sabrina remembers her sister that disappeared and was later found dead years later. The same feeling is coming for Sabrina on this case. Claire Blakely didn't have any enemies and just disappear in thin air. Can Sabrina solve this case, or will it end up being a cold case....the one that got away from her? You will need to read the book to find out. I voluntarily reviewed a free copy of this book.
Cookies with a Side of Danger (A Danger in Treasure Cove Cozy Mystery Book 1) was another great read by Meredith Potts. Sabrina is an amateur sleuth who is investigating a case that hits really close to home. There is a missing woman who reminds her of the time her sister went missing. Sabrina can't find any leads that will help find Claire and feels as though she may not find the person who took Claire. I can't wait to read more by Meredith Potts.
Sabrina loves cookies almost as much as I do! She always seems to be eating one or craving one in this clean cozy mystery. Neither she nor her husband can find the culprit until Sabrina finally decides to take her daughter up to the cabin to relax for a bit. Trouble seems to follow her----There are quite a few twists and turns!
This is the first time I have read anything by Meredith Potts--but it won't be the last!
I was a bit confused by the timeline in this one until I went back to the email and it stated that this was a prequel to the Treasure Cove Mystery series. So it comes after the Daily Buzz series. I enjoy these characters so much. This storyline really hit close to home for Sabrina. I look forward to reading the next two books in this series.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
Cookies With a Side of Danger, My twenty-fifth short read/listen from author Meredith Potts and the first in the new Danger in Treasure Cove Mystery Series, Well-written & enjoyable. another cute, clean cozy mystery. I was given an Audible copy of this book & am voluntarily reviewing it. I was impressed and enjoyed the vocal variety & inflections of narrator Lili Dubuque. I look forward to reading more in this series & from this author. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).
Another great mystery from Meredith Potts! I really enjoy this series. The characters are likeable and believable. It is a cozy mystery so no gore or foul language. It is about a woman and her husband solving murders . I highly recommend this book and author to you.
Once again Treasure Cove finds itself with another mystery to solve. This series is set a few years after the Daley Buzz Cozy Mystery series but has the same great characters. I really enjoy listening to this group and love seeing how someone’s intuition can be so important when working a case. I will definitely be continuing this series.
Woman married to a law enforcement officer, has a daughter. Happy family. Wifey, runs a coffee shop, and helps solve crimes with her intuition. This time, a young girl was missing. She and her daughter, go up to their cabin by the lake. The girl's kidnapper, comes after them. Big mistake.
This is one of a series and should more than likely be read as such, it is good as a stand alone. A mystery man watching who turns out to be the ....wait for it. A lost young lady who it seems to have been abducted reminders of the past with her sister. What more could happen? Read on to find out.
I love this series by Meredith Potts and can't wait for the next book if you love a great cozy with characters you will love and a story that keeps you turning the page then this series is a must read
The writing in this book is greatly improved from the other Treasure Cove series. It was an enjoyable read. I did find it odd that this series is new but takes place when Jessica is five instead of her being at the police academy.
This is a great and unusual solution to a missing persons case which leaves me hanging about decisions about the birth dad and why the paranoid man was looking at the flyer. I expect more to come
A young woman is missing and it strikes too close to home to Sabrina. She tries to keep herself and her daughter Jessica from the danger but it seems to follow her. Will she be able to crack the case without putting her daughter and herself in danger? The Audiobook is great
