Automatic Pilot is the first publication of Claude Pélieu, translated from French to English in cooperation with his then girlfriend and future wife Mary Beach. The experimental poetry of Pélieu would come to be associated with the work of contemporaries such as William Burroughs, Bob Kaufman, Allen Ginsberg, Lawrence Ferlinghetti and Charles Plymell.
