John went through several life-changing moments in his growing-up years. At each fork in the road he was fortunate enough to have something or someone to help him persevere. A very thought-provoking story! Having known the author for nearly half his life, I had heard various vignettes before, but not in the context of chronology that makes his burdens seem almost insurmountable at times. I've been proud to know him for years, never more so than now.
