With a touch of her hand, Octavia Hollows can restore life. Yet, she couldn’t save the man she loved from the horrific accident that stole him from her. Octavia thought she could outrun the pain, but ghosts from the past refuse to be silenced. Out of options, she chooses to retrace her wayward journey across the country in search of answers. Surrounded by baffling mysteries of the undead, what she learns about herself along the way might become her greatest weapon.
Tallahassee, Florida: Where the love of her life died.
Octavia’s coven has gone missing, and a demented stalker is sending her body parts in the mail. Tired of playing along with his twisted games, the pink-haired necromancer and her swinekick are preparing for war. But this is one battle she won’t face alone. Friends, both living and deceased, will rise to stand beside her. Will it be enough to end the creeper’s murderous vendetta? Or, will death come for the one person Octavia can’t resurrect… herself?
Her journey has come full circle and now Octavia is back in Tallahassee, Florida, the place where Elba died and where her stalker is now holding her coven captive. Reid has travelled with her wanting to help her and pay back the debt he feels he owes her but her focus remains on finding Elba's body and rescuing her coven.
I'm not going to say too much about this final instalment because I don't want to give spoilers but I will say I was really happy with the way this series ended (although I'm still hoping for more in the future!). This was an intense part of Octavia's journey, she has to face some terrible choices and is forced to face up to both her past and what she wants from her future.
I had so much fun reading this series, I ended up devouring all 6 novellas in less than 24 hours because they kept me totally hooked from beginning to end. I loved the colourful characters and the humour and while this may have been my first Stacey Rourke series it definitely won't be the last!
I have been very eager to read the conclusion of Octavia's adventures, although I truly never want them to end. She and Bacon have embedded themselves in my heart and it is bittersweet reading this final installment. I loved the characters and the humor every step of the way through this one. I thought the way the series ended was an interesting twist, and I was very excited to see that there would be more adventures coming in 2020.
The final novella that makes up Book one in the Octavia Hollows series wraps all up with a nice bow. There is a lot of humor and emotion in this one. All is well at the end and I feel like I joined Reid in hopping onto Octavia’s bike at the end to zoom off and see what adventures Octavia and her swinekick can get themselves into! I will be checking out book 2 without a doubt!
I love that I will be owning this book when it comes out on the 25th!! I need to own all of them in pb as it is a good collection to have. The author did just another terrific job again with a series. Amazing character building, humor, action, fighting scenes all came together in a way that makes you want to read more. Sadly this is the last book in this series but we are told we might get to see more of Octavia and Bacon later my fingers are crossed.
In Dead As A Doornail everything comes full circle for Octavia. She will get the answers she seeks and will find heartache as well. Octavia is a character who doesn't need or want anyone besides Bacon. Yet, we see as she grows to accept help from those who do care for her and maybe we see later on that something might happen between her and Reid? Octavia has grown a lot of the last few books and I think this conclusion was just in a good one.
Finally, oh my gosh, finally! We finally come face to face with the conflict that's been driving and what started this series. Even Octavia mentions that if she acted faster she could have saved them and I'm like "no s**t".
Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the previous books but they didn't think about the main plot line until the last chapter. Even this book tried to misdirect us when Octavia seems to give up after the first chapter and starts to play a drinking game with Reid but thankfully the plot reels them back in with a ghost she wasn't expecting to see.
Overall I was sitting on the edge of my seat throughtout this book! Though it wasn't quite a five star read I was still satisfied. The bad guy was okay, I honestly don't get why he waited a year to get revenge on her and where he kept Elba's body for the while time. But, there's supposedly going to be more adventures with Octavia and Bacon so I'm excited to see what they're up to next!
Octavia, Bacon, and her newest friend, Nate are back in Tallahassee, Florida where it all began. The death of Alba her fiance and whatever happened to cause the crazy lunatic after her to stalk her. He's got her coven, Alba's body, and is determined to bring things to a head. Will Octavia go to the psycho to save her friends? Of course, she will... but not alone.
Things get intense, the action is almost non-stop, and the story will have you on the edge of your seat. I love this series and will miss Octavia and her crew. The author leaves this story with a small teasing hope that we might get more stories of Octavia and Bacon's adventures in the future. I sure hope so. I look forward to reading more books by this author.
Stacey, Bacon, and Reid, new addition to their group, make it to Tallahassee. This is where Elba died and is their final destination. Octavia is unable to get in touch with her former coven, so she assumes her crazy stalker has them. At this point Octavia knows the stalker is someone associated with her past from the high school where the mass shooting took place. With Reid’s help and Bacon in tow, Octavia is finally able to fight to save her coven and get the information she has sought about Elba. I cannot recommend this series highly enough.
I listened to the audiobook and Stacey Rourke does a great job narrating.
Octavia and Reid head to back to the town where Elba died. Octavia is hoping to find Elba’s body and her coven. We finally learn who the mystery man in the Maine Black Bear hat is and what his intention towards Octavia. The mystery man (CAS – creepy ass stalker) leaves Octavia a phone and he calls her and puts the coven on. He gives her 30 minutes to find the coven and rescue them – but he doesn’t tell her where they are. Throw in a minotaur and Octavia has her work cut out for her!
The finale we've been waiting for! The answers to who the creepy ass stalker is and what happened to Elba! It wasn't the ending I was expecting but I liked it! I like that it wasn't what I assumed it would be and that Octavia will be moving forward with a fresh start, her ghosts laid to rest, but no longer alone.
I REALLY hope we get more of her whacky adventures in the future!
So far, this is my favorite series by the author. I've only read one other, the Rise of the Sea Witch one. I did like this one quite a bit more. The wit, the pig, the badassness, the actual storylines. It all came together. I did see a little blurb at the end saying Octavia will be back 2020, so Stacey, if you read this, make 2020 great by giving us more. Thanks.
In less than 24 I have read all 6 of these short works. Omg I am on love with bacon and want Reid to be my new wing men when I go out. I literally couldn’t put them down.
This left me wanting more. More of Octavia. More of her crazy adventures. Not sure how I feel about the ending. Not in a bad way. Just not what I expected. Hopefully there will be more Octavia and Bacon in the future. Especially Bacon.
Octavia has finally come full circle and is back in Florida, with Bacon and Reid with her. C.A.S has captured the Coven and now wants Octavia to come out and 'play'. He doesn't give her much time to find the Coven. Jealous Elba shows up to help, and ultimately gives his ok to find friendship and maybe love with Reid. Things do not go Octavia's way - it's messy, painful, and full of heartache. The banter is back. We see a little bit of her relationship with Elba and the Coven. This is all I'm going to say as I don't want to give anything away. There are going to be more stories, and I may check them out just to see where Octavia and Reid end up.
Dead as a Doornail is the final installment in a set of novellas in the Journals of Octavia Hollows series and it definitely wrapped things up quite nicely for our snarky, pink-haired necromancer, her undead piggy sidekick, and her wolfy protector. Everything Octavia's been dealing with throughout the series comes to a critical point - unraveling the mystery behind her dead fiance and the freak who is following her while sending her body parts and finding her kidnapped coven. Her past comes back to bite her in an unexpected way, leaving readers on the edge of their seat. Octavia's heart gets pulled in multiple directions. Reid's role as Octavia's guardian and protector begins to develop into something else and their flirting is absolutely adorable. Can Octavia learn to let go of her past while it's being thrown in her face? That independent, snarky, sharp tongued side of her is out in full force, bringing happiness and giggles on my morning commute. Thank you, Ms. Rourke, for bringing such wonderful, memorable characters into our lives. You truly have a gift for story telling.
Have I really reached the end of The Journals of Octavia Hollows? How can that be?
Dead As A Doornail is the last instalment in this series, and what an amazing way to wrap up this storyline. Octavia and (my book man crush) Reid are on a race against the clock to save her coven, and get Elba back. I don't want to ruin the book by giving spoilers, but she finally gets the answers of who's stalking her, kidnapped her coven, and who took Elba from her. This mysteries man is not what you would have thought and it makes the book that much better.
As sad as I am to see this storyline come to a close, I am also excited to see where Octavia and Bacon journeys will take them in the future, 2020 can not come soon enough. With Stacey Rourke anything is possible and I surly cannot wait. The Journals of Octavia Hollows are EPIC and I highly recommend everyone read about my favorite necromancer and her undead pig!
I’m having a hard time finding the words for how much I love Octavia’s story so far. Her journey was a lonely one till she met Reid. It was just her and Bacon on the open road trying to track down her fiance’s body. You know, that old story… Along the way she defeated some nasty foes and made some friends, but she always moved on alone. Then she met Reid. Now she has a swine kick and someone to watch her back! Let’s just hope that is enough to save her coven. If I didn’t have this series on my kindle to read over and over, I might be more upset that it is over. I could read 50 books about Octavia and Bacon! I can’t wait till there is more to read! Till then I will have to wear out my kindle copies. 5 stars for Dead as a Doornail!! Bring on more Bacon!! You know, when you have time…..please?
Wow.....What a way to end this series of Novellas!!
The characters are phenomenal! Octavia is still her savvy and amazing self and I am still all for #teamReid. They make quite the powerful couple!! And I can't forget Bacon. He is still my hero pig. Power to the piggy!!
The story-line is incredible! So much action and suspense adding up to a shocking yet unforgettable ending. Rourke has once again used her storytelling power to reel me in hook, line and sinker from beginning to end. I so can't believe this set of adventures is over and that Octavia and Bacon solved the mystery that sent them on their adventure to begin with. Bravo, Rourke, bravo! I highly recommend this read and the entire series of Novellas.
The Final book in this series. So sad to see it end. Stacey did a wonderful job with this series. I really liked how she wrapped up Octavia and Bacon's adventures. This is one series I really would love to get the paperback version so I can read this at anytime. I am happy that Octavia got answers she was searching for. I found the last 3 books in this series were my favorite and got better and better. I found the action and the searching that Octavia had to do was more exciting and seemed to have kept my attention a lot more then the first 3. Not that the first three weren't good but I think as the ending was getting near the action, the comedy and even some sadness were just exiting. Hope to get more of Octavia and Bacon in the future.
Brilliant! Ended in the only way it could have. I warred with myself over what I wanted from this series finale, what would feel right. I didn't know what the author had planned, but assumed certain things would happen. Yes and no. Yes in all the best ways, and no in all the ways that would have been wrong, as it turns out. I really enjoyed the race to save the day. The author made choices throughout the entire series that meant no one was safe, which caused a few heart spikes along the way. Charm and sass and clever one-liners had us laughing though. It was equal parts light and fluffy and deep and dangerous. And creative. I loved spending time in this world and am very excited to hear that there are more stories coming.
As all good things must, this series to has come to an end. And what an amazing wonderful end it was. We finally got to know the identiy of C.A.S, we got the ending that Octavia needed with a certain construction worker *cough* Elba *cough* and we had some of her spells actually work this time round!
I'm sorry but that scene in the morgue!!!!! The lady asking for help with her knickers....I laughed so hard my tea went down the wrong pipe.
Stacey thank you for such inventive worlds that we can fall head first into and land on a comfy cosy little pig who likes popcorn and french fries almost as much as we do.
Oh and FYI I think we all need a Dina in our lives. Just saying.
I hope you bring these characters back again someday and we get to watch someone pound a gatarade!

Outstanding! Heart wrenching! Written with the usual snarky sarcasm and witty humor that are true Octavia style. Totally laugh out loud funny and it might just pull on your heartstrings, as well. This book has it all. A fabulous ending to the series! Almost all of my questions were answered in this final chapter of Octavia’s journey to find her dead fiancé, Elba. Bacon and Reid are the best of sidekicks, along with Elba in a surprising twist of fate. A superb finale.
Wow! This series of novellas has been one thrilling ride full of humor, action, and adventure with twists and turns throughout! I am so sad to see it end, but Stacey Rourke created such a fabulous world full of interesting characters that came together so well in the end. The underlining question throughout each of the novellas is finally answered. I feel for Octavia as she has gone through a lot of hardships, but luckily our favorite pink haired heroine is not going down without a fight.
Soooooo Good!! This series is hilarious, heart wrenching, & adventurous wrapped in a paranormal bow of awesome! Each release had my full attention until the very end, & I could not get my hands on the next quick enough. I am sad for the end, but beyond thrilled to know we will see more of Octavia & Bacon...and hopefully Reid! If you enjoy paranormal tales with a twist that may bring on the tears, but will always bring a chuckle too then this series is for you! Life’s always better with Bacon!
We finally know who has been following Octavia and why. While I laughed at Bacon's cuteness and the banter between Octavia, Reid and Elba, I got teary eyed as well. This was another suspenseful chapter in Octavia's life. The conclusion of this series is bittersweet. I enjoyed reading about Octavia and her swinekick, Bacon.
I think this was the best of them all yet.. I have binged the entire series as quickly as I could wanting to go on the adventures with our pink haired friend & porky sidekick. I'm sad I've got to wait for the next adventure.. But I'm so happy with the events of this book. It seems she's finally healing since book one.
In this book all the intrigue and unanswered questions are finally answered. The mystery stalker is revealed And with it sees Octavia face her biggest challenge yet, one that could see her lose everything! A gripping and nail biting finale to this adventure, I’ll be keeping a close eye on any future adventures from Octavia and Bacon.
Oh Stacey im.Very happy. You brought us an ending that was happy and sad all in one I loved it im.still crying. It was a ending this wonderful series deserved thank you for allowing us to go on this journey with you.
I did not want this series to end I will be team bacon forever. I was stunned how it ended and wholly approve of the ending can't wait to read more from this author and maybe revisit these characters again.
