Part 2 was definitely up to par with Part 1!! I expected the heaviness and grief coming from Taj but seeing the change in Indie was different yet still understood. At first, I was upset with Joey but once he revealed a bit more about everything, I could understand where he was coming from. I believe people were putting too.much responsibility on one man to be the example of having more and being more than what their current situations were. Like Indie was their savior and without him, they were lost. It was too much for him then and it still is. I dont trust Malcolm one bit. He comes off eye controlling all of a sudden. I cannot wait for part 3!!
Taj should have left Malcolm back home trying to play hard in front of Ricky just to get the hell slapped out of him for running his mouth. I hope Taj cool down and give Indigo a chance to explain and get her back. Her dad was wrong trying to get her to settle for Malcolm when he knew Indigo was alive.
Sis stress is not even the word that I can use right now I am f****** flabbergasted. I knew it was gonna be some s*** when Andy decided to pop back up in Taj's life but d*** I didn't expect Taj life to be what it is. My girl is struggling to stay afloat literally. She is in a deep depression about my guy and I have sat through this book like just pop back up please. I mean we found that who the hell put a hit out on in the go and you know I knew that n***** was a plotting a** n***** flaw as s***. D*** Joey don't got set son of a b****, I guess I make since we do get a book on him which is Joey's redemption. Malcolm a** need to die I don't like him something is off about that n*****. And he basically just graped my girl. I don't care how much liquor she had in her system or how horny she might have been it was not consensual. So that death upon his head And I need in to go to leave the charge. I knew she was gonna be mad as s*** and I definitely call her being mad as f*** her daddy. Cause b**** you're supposed to protect her and you didn't you literally let her go through 4 years thinking that her man was dead, I know she was gonna be mad at indigo but you are her father and you still tried to run her life like they wouldn't have been good s*** together. Indigo go get your girl go get your girl we already know what it is.
Miss Arthur ma'am woman the stress you put me through is unmatched... I mean I love you for it but I also hate you at the same time, But you're putting your foot in this story.
Taj Ali has relocated to San Francisco in order to escape the memories of her first love and finally move on with her life. No matter how much she tries, there’s a small piece of her heart that won’t let go. When she returns to South Central one weekend, she is confronted by her past and her dreams. She felt betrayed when she realized that everyone knew Indie was alive…except her. Her response pissed me off so bad, but her feelings were warranted.
Indigo Sims was lured out of hiding and back to South Central after believed dead for four years. From day one, something seemed off and he is determined to find out what it is, as well as who is responsible for trying to kill him. As if that isn’t enough, he must also try to repair the damage that’s been done to Taj’s heart. There are a few people who would rather not see that happen, tho.
This book is everything that I didn’t know that I needed. The homage to South Central for, the culture and Nipsey Hussle was done in excellence and care. I learned so much. My favorite character goes to Indie, for changing his life as well as those around him.and my least favorite is none other than Malcolm. If you haven’t read this page turner by @bigpynnie, then I would highly recommend that you do so.
Senior irritated everything in me!!!…He wanted what was best for Taj, but didn’t make sure his children got the best!!!… I was sooooo relieved to learn that Indie was still alive, but my heart broke learning he was alive and not a soul told Taj!!!… Taj has been walking around with a broken heart for 4 years and in a relationship with no goal with Malcolm!!!… I really hope that Ajai finally get her dreams fulfilled, because she has been riding and she deserves to live in hers!!!… Joey wanted to be soooo grown for so long and he is finally caught up in the mess!!!…I hope his time is not long, and he survives it!!!…Joey has soooo much potential though and I hope he also gets to live in his truth!!!… I love how the women are the village that both Ajai and Taj!!!…
Omg I knew it ! I just fell that taj had every right to be hurt . And indie was dead ass wrong for keeping that secret and having everyone involved. She lost so much and they just trashed her feelings. I’m happy the Ricky and Aja are still going strong ! I loved that we got to see Joey grow up and get his POV I loved how she sets the tone for the chapters with the songs in front ! I loved each selection! And the scene all the boys are in the car trying to encourage indie and let him know they got him really touched me . Not a lot of men feel comfortable enough to let that side show let alone uplift one another . It was a beautiful scene and I hope more men get into these books!

I was on the edge of my seat, then laying in bed, then sitting up, then standing, then sitting on the edge of my seat again - all while reading this book! Something would happen or be said/revealed and I had to shift position and or location. So much happening, being done and not done, said and not said, questions, and more with these characters. I’m questioning their decisions and emotions and woo!
I gotta honor Aubrey and not give nothing away. All I’m going to say is you gotta read the series beginning to end!
They all got my nerves bad. Every time I read on I get all crazy. Indie being back and doing something for the greater good may back fire but I think things going to be even better once the dusty settles. Poor Taj man she took this four year period super hard but she held on and made it all happen for her brother and true love. Part 3 big things will happen, I can see it!!!
Soooo why did they think that Taj would react any different than she did?
I’m pissed off at everyone because what are yall thinking? So everyone knew and ain’t nobody wanted to say anything? Lol listen I love when I really be emotional about books when I be in too deep with my feelings! That’s how I know the author is doing her job!
This series has been so good so far, definitely looking forward to book 3!
All the feels with this one! Whew... I need a shot after this drama!
I am not going to post any spoilers, but both Indie and Taj had me legit mad! Matter of fact, everybody in the book that played a part had me in my feelings! I’m team Maria right now, bc I really wanted to smack everyone else!
This second installment of this four part series took it easy on my nerves, because book 1 snatched my heart and my edges 😁😁😁.
Taj and Indie and their supporting cast are magnificent. All of their moves are sitting on the edge of your seat teeth grinding jaw dropping dramatic worthy.
Poor Taj just can't catch a break on her happiness. Indigo definitely should have told her the truth four years ago. She's gonna have to learn to live for Taj and not her dad. Malcolm is definitely not part of her future. She has to stop blaming everyone for what Indie asked them to keep from her. Can't wait to read part three.
Book 2 was just, I have no words. Taj is still going through the motions and honestly kudos to her for being aware because we know folks in real life who pretend like things are normal and they lash out like it’s cool. "Grief is the final act of love…” Crenshaw streets are still hot and honestly, there is no sleep or peace for the wicked and when you find out who the wicked is, your jaw might just drop. Trust is broken, secrets are revealed, manipulation continues, lies continue, boundaries are set, and plans are put in place.
This is a roller coaster ride, you gonna cry, laugh and scream. Life ain’t nowhere near fair and this installment is proof of that. I can’t wait to see what the next two brings. Aubreé wrote the hell out of this one too.
This guy is putting me through some changes me and Taj. Damn you Indie! The s*** done hit the fan now. On to book three. I'm reading this until the end have to find out what happens 🤔.
I am screaming and hollering from Book two!!!😮🫣😱 this book took me for a ride!!! So good! A great continuation from Book one. CAN’T WAIT to dive into Book 3 for the further continuation because I’m already knowing IT’S ABOUT TO GO DOWN!!! 🥰🥰🥰 This marathon continues…
AP said no spoilers so, I'm just going to say "go read the series" its good! I thought one thig and I was wrong, but the dad is getting on my last never! Read the series, you know her pen game is awesome!
I cried in pt.1!!! My mouth was left open in pt. 2. Aubree I can't take it. Omg pt. 3 and 4!!!! We !just be in for one he'll of a RIDE..... LET !E PUT MY SEATBELT ON!
This had me on the edge of my seat and this is just a will they won’t type of book at this point. I enjoyed it. Loved Joey’s development as a character.
Loving this series So far and the story line is getting real. Joey put the power back in Indies hand to follow thru on the plan. Can't wait to read the next install.
Whew…. Nothing is easy in book two. So much pain and sadness is felt. Taj struggling to climb out of the the despair she finds herself in really just breaks you down as a reader. Every emotion Aubree writes is felt through and through. So much drama and surprises , book two doesn’t disappoint!!
