The Gilroy Clan #8

Giving Grace

Rate this book
I’m the broken Gilroy.
Or at least I was until Grace Faraday waltzed into my life with her mile-long legs, smart mouth, and quiet determination and decided I wasn’t as far gone as everyone thought.
She’s trying to make something of her life. For herself. For her daughter, Molly.
The last thing she needs is a washed-up soldier with a bum leg and a broken brain dragging her down, but the more I try to stay away from her, the deeper I sink. The more determined I become to save her from my bullsh*t, the faster I feel my resolve to do the right thing slip away.
Maybe I am broken. Maybe I am beyond repair but Grace sees something in me.
She makes me feel. Not like the man I used to be. She makes me feel like the man I should’ve been— could’ve been —if my life had been different.
Grace is determined. She’s stubborn. She won’t give up on me. On us. All I know is I want her. I like the way she looks at me. The way she makes me feel, and I’m willing to do whatever I have to—be whoever she needs—in order to keep her.

Worth it while it’s free

I swear every book in this series gets worse with grammatical errors the further you get into the series. Did the author not use an editor for the last 3 or 4 books?? Other than that, i did enjoy Ryan and Graces story even though I felt like it was a little rushed. Instant attraction, one hookup, separated, 5 months later they get back together and are in love. There just wasn’t much build up to show them actually falling in love. And I personally think that the ending was rushed. As well as with Declan and Tess’s story. I still enjoyed their story though and think it’s worth the read since it’s free through kindle unlimited.

Long awaited

This was a very long awaited conclusion of Ryan and Grace and I have to say I was a bit disappointed. It was so short, barely touched on anything and jumped right to the end where they love each other, have sex and it’s a HEA. Nothing like the angst of the other books in the series. Was hoping for so much more

I really enjoyed the series as a whole, but I feel like Ryan and Grace’s story was really rushed. I was hoping for a little more of an ending. I liked how there was an epilogue for each of the stories and was hoping to see where Ryan and Grace ended up (besides together). There were also a lot more errors in this one. I noticed some in the all the books but the errors in this book were a little out of hand.

The second half of Ryan and Grace’s story was a lovely read, with Molly as adorable as before.

This is the final book in the Gilroy series, so a real epilogue would have nice. This book ended too suddenly, too soon. Maybe Ms Ward can surprise us with a bonus epilogue or even better another book with all the Gilroys ‘a year or so later’. Please?

It is always so good to read about happy endings. The tragedy of life and overcoming painful situations. Meeting and connecting and wanting something after so long is the story of Ryan and Grace. Enjoyed it, and its quite simple the only downer is the ending should be more seem to lack elements. Then Ryan didnt have closure from his father and mother unlike his sister Henley who discovered that she was not fathered by the man she grew up believing to be her father. I would like for the mom Lydia to a time to be face with her selfishness....she may not be the main focus of the story but she affects two persons in the series. Sorry not as happy as the other endings. But still a 4 because I still like the story plus I'm generous with my ratings! It's not easy to be a writer lol

Business as usual at Gilroy Clan.
Gotta love all them Gilroys and their satellites. Giving Grace is a beautiful finale to the 8 volume saga. Each book can be read as a stand-alone but once you read one of them you definitely will feel the hunger to get your hands on the rest of them. I know I did.
As expected, Grace and Ryan will make your heart melt. You shall laugh and cry with them but you will love the journey and all its colors. And you will be craving for more.

FINALLY. I had to read all 8 books in the series to get to the one that I loved!

First of all - Ryan is an A++ character and the Gilroy family loyalty was something I really enjoyed reading. Also funny that he was my favorite Gilroy clan member, and the only one that isn’t a true Gilroy. lol.

Idk if it’s because he’s a soldier and I LOVE that backstory or because he was just really well written, but book 7 & 8 are by far the best in the series.

Good story

This is a good story, same as the other books in the series. Also has terrible editing, same as the previous books. I recommend the books, but be prepared to do some editing as you read. My personal favorite from this book is when Ryan says he takes Oxytocin at the end of the day.

Finished the series yesterday. Good stories. Funny. Sweet. I would have rated it higher if not for the spelling and grammatical errors. Book 8 had tons of errors. At one point Grace dropped her bra on top of her panties and two paragraphs later she took off her jeans. Quite the trick. Edit please. I would be happy to edit.

Worth the wait!

I’ve been waiting for this book! I knew Ryan had a special story and Grace/Molly was just who he needed to help bring him back from the horror he suffered through life and in the military.

Over too soon

Finally, Grace and Ryan are together! This book felt like it was over too soon! But I really liked the growth these characters went through. And of course the humor Molly brought.

The best couple yet.

I enjoyed the whole series but this is my favorite couple. The dynamic between them and the other characters keeps you immersed in the Gilroy world.

Rushed

Feels like this story was written in a hurry. The whole Gilroy series needed a better proofreader. Coming from me, that's bad because I'm not that good.

Love the Gilroys

Loving a Gilroy is thinking you can play with a single lit match. Not realizing that spark just cause an inferno. However after destruction, there is new growth, new life, and new beginnings.
This all started with a FB ad that kept following me. The stories get a bit darker the further you read, but the Gilroys are family loyal. When you are accepted by one, you get them ALL. Pushing Patrick because who doesn't love a roommate romance? I kept seeing this ad and I finally caved. Then it was Connor the sworn family womanizer, too smart for his own good, followed by the self destructive Declan who believes he deserves to suffer. Finally, there's Ryan. Not a Gilroy by blood, but family nonetheless. One who has had to work to finally be the man everyone knew he was.
I love how all of their women are strong characters who can push their partner to be a better person. I love little Molly, but she does seem wise beyond her years.
These Gilroy men are all either all in or find themselves unworthy to be all in so they self sabotage. I love this family and hope to read more soon. Was there a story for West?

I was angry at grace for 90% of the book

Ryan was a lost boy and his story had me.in tears. I was sad for him and all he's had to go through. I'm happy he had molly even if her !other was not helping.
All of his self appointed family was great....his relationship with Connor (especially) and declan was so much.
Graces dad got it and it took her mom a.while to get on board but I did like their threats....no chum for her - "kill you and drag you body through the streets". WOW!!!
Jack should have stayed drunk... And I was over the moon excited when read tried to take him out. Finding out Quinn tortured Declan - had me wishing they ended him. Good riddance to bad rubbage.
The dinner when grace defended Ryan to his mom and Spencer stood up to lydia..... Yes, I waa talking to the bok.at that point! Then finding our he got him the.plea deal...
Ryan was a good guy even if he did nor know how to really show it. His brain is broken, remember!!!
I loved the story, the detailed explanations, mystery, romance, bold announcements, suspense... I needed more violence!

Giving Grace is an amazing book. It is one that gives you hope that there is a brighter side to your life. Ryan is having a very tough time right now. He has gone through some things and is trying his hardest to deal with them. Grace is trying to rebuild her life and prove that she can do what is needed for her and her daughter. Ryan wants to be with Grace but knows that he isn't good for her. But that doesn't stop him. Until one day Grace puts her foot down and tells Ryan to leave her alone. That is when things start to change for Ryan. Will it change for the better or will Ryan continue down the rabbit hole? Will Grace and Ryan get the chance to be together? Will he come to her rescue and prove that he is what she needs? I absolutely loved this one. I love Ryan and Grace and their story. Out of all the couples in this series these two are my favorite. There is just something about them that you instantly fall in love with these two. Megyn proved once again how amazing of a writer she is with this couple. Highly recommend.

I love the Gilroy Clan! Each and every two book duet if you will, is wonderfully well written, full of love, laughter, tears, and amazing secondary characters.
I can't believe it's kinda over...
Ryan and Grace are perfect for each other. Both broken in different ways, yet not broken at all. Just waiting for the right person to come along and make them see, they aren't broken, just not the same as they used to be.
Megyn's stories fly by. They are so well written, you can't help but devour them in almost one sitting.
The feelings that she brought out in Ryan and Graces story were just... Ugh..soooo good.
And good golly, miss Molly is such an adorably perfect character. Can't help but love her and her questions, her acceptance, her witty comebacks.
Each couple has been my favorite. Each story becomes my new fave. That's talent, and Megyn has it in spades. Can't wait for their bonus epilogue! I'll always want more of the Gilroys!

In theory I love this series. The last 2 books however not as much, they seem to be missing parts, and for goodness sakes, get a good proofreader or editor. There has been in every book, a certain amount of bad English i.e misspelled words, bad grammar, just pieces of sentences incorrect, but the last 2 books are horrendous with the amount of these. And I don't know about anyone else but this throws off the flow of the book for me making it not near as enjoyable a read. The fact that I stuck it out and read the whole series even with the errors means that these could have been AWESOME!!! but not as they are.

That being said I loved Ryan and Grace, I just thought their story was superficial, in that the author didn't delve as far into their personal issues as I thought was warranted considering all they each had going on separately, not to mention as a couple. This is why I felt their story stayed superficial. All in all enjoyable, just with something missing.

Right I am so team Ryan!! He is such a broken but kind soul. He can’t help but push Grace away. Grace and Molly have captured him in a way that he can’t fathom. Grace just wants to believe him. She wants to be more than someone who sees his scars, she wants to be his everything. She envy’s his relationship with Molly, her daughter who has fallen in love with Ryan and taken to him in ways she hasn’t any one else, including her grandparents who think they know best. Ryan is absolutely captivated by Grace and Molly but knows it’s all borrowed time. Until finally when they have a change to be together and it’s just them that almost stops it. Ryan finally let’s Grace see him, see all of him and Grace accepts him for the man he is and the boy he was.

The writing in the series just keeps getting better, the ever growing ‘family’ and all the little background characters make this series phenomenal. It’s hard to know this is blowing up the way it truly deserves.

The best

Megyn saved the best for last. I never figured I would care for Ryan, yes he had some redeeming qualities but he wasn’t one I was rooting for. (I wasn’t rooting for Declan either but I did want Tess to have HEA.) Reading this one all the way through and seeing how he was instantly smitten with Molly and child oblivion made him likable and reminded me you he had a rough life and made the best of what he had. I was also glad they were able to redeem Spencer I wanted to like him but couldn’t get over the way they left Ryan.
Overall this series was great! I love the way they stories intertwined but were still stand alones and how we got to see each one heal and find happiness. My only complaint is I love a good epilogue! Please don’t give me happy now’s I want happy ever after with weddings and babies! I only want them because the stories are so good and I become attached to these characters like they are real people.

Absolutely loved Ryan and Grace’s story! Excellent pair of books. I’m such a sucker for a MMC who is rough outside because he’s hurting inside and a MFC that just “gets” him. Loved Ryan steadying himself with her over time and, oh, his absolute sweet devotion to her daughter was just extra frosting on the cake! 😍

Conner & Hen are still my fave of the bunch, I don’t think anyone can top Conner for me - he is really in the running for top fave book boyfriend, but Ryan & Grace are right up there too. So good!

As usual with this series, plenty of angst (which had me sobbing in the last 20% of the Grace book) and plenty of heat 😋 The last scene was so heartwarming that I cried all over again! Happy to have read this series and these two were a great addition.

Giving Grace was published in 2021 and I see two more books coming out in 2024 - hooray! Looks like Wentworth/Kaitlyn. Looking forward to more of the Gilroy Clan series and I think I need to check out Megyn’s other books too!

Absolutely hooked! Megyn Ward's Book 8 is a literary gem. Her genius in storytelling shines brightly in this installment.

Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️ (No Fifty Shades here, but just the right amount of heat to keep things deliciously intriguing).

Characters: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (A single mom and a returned military vet – watching them grow and bond with their families is like watching a beautiful dance).

Plot: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (Solid and engaging, with perfect cliffhangers that keep you turning pages like a detective on a case).

Setting: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (Seamlessly transitions between familiar and new locations, adding depth and continuity to the series).

Highly recommended!

Content Warnings: This book tackles heavy themes like sexual assault, torture, violence, and suicidal ideation, all handled with care but potentially distressing for some readers.

This was completely worth the wait!

This series has been amazing but this book has taken it to another level! This story truly captured my heart. Both Ryan and Grace had some tragic life occurrences that left their hearts broken only to try to pick up the pieces and move forward with their lives. They happen to meet and find an instant connection. Will they be able to rely on one another and piece together their broken spirits? Will they be able to conquer the fear of really seeing and understanding the other’s insecurities?

You will definitely want to start at the very beginning of the series to fully enjoy the storyline. It’s a fantastic series. Hoping Went will be the next story.

Loved!!

I loved this story. That Ryan was strong enough to heal and be better for molly and grace. I love their relationship the three of them and molly is adorable in her love and adoration of Ryan. They have both been through so much.
I wish grace got more justice. But she turned something horrible into something extraordinary. I do however wish she had a real convo with Cari and her parents. Because the way her mother treats her when she has no clue about the real story is atrocious.
You get to learn about Ryan as well and that he really is an extraordinary man. I love how they love each other despite their scars both physical and psychological. Amazing story.

Awwwww Ryan...

Ryan's had a really rough life. Then he stepped on a bomb and now he's less. Less strong, less mobile, less capable, just... less. Grace is an absolute vision and he has no idea how he can pursue her as ... less. Then he meets her little girl Molly and he's done. He's madly in love and can see a life ahead of him that seemed impossible before he met Grace. With all of his physical limitations and then add a visit from his sketchy past and there is a lot to work through. This story was fantastic and made me love these 3 so much. I've really enjoyed this series and look forward to more.
