Summer break is over, and Raven is hardly eager to be returning to Dullsville High. Not only does school mean daily interaction with preppy pest Trevor Mitchell, but her sleep-filled days and romantic nights with her immortal boyfriend, Alexander, must come to an end. Plus the shock of morning classes isn't the only change in store.

An unexpected letter turns up at Alexander's mansion, announcing his parents will be coming to town. And once they arrive, just about everyone has had a sighting of the macabre couple except Raven. What could be delaying Alexander from introducing Raven to them? Could Alexander be hiding something about his parents' homecoming?

When Raven is finally invited to the most thrilling dinner party of her life, the next turn of events could transform her entire future with Alexander. The sixth book in Ellen Schreiber's bestselling Vampire Kisses series takes an unusual twist in the continuing romance of Raven and Alexander.

Before I took pen to paper, I was an actress. I attended a local university majoring in theatre and spent a summer in London at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts where I learned about the “Old Bard” from amazingly talented teachers.

When I returned from London, I relocated to Chicago where I lived for five years. There, I graduated from the Second City Training Center and performed improv, Shakespeare, comedies and dramas--I even sang and danced on a cruise boat--without falling in Lake Michigan! A classmate of mine from Second City and I created and performed a two woman show for a year before I braved it alone doing stand-up comedy. It was during this time I began to write an adult novel about a rock star--I had always enjoyed writing...

Fast forward a couple of years along with a move home where I was performing “stand-up” at comedy clubs in the area. On a plane to LA to decide my fate-- “to move to LA or not to move to LA” that is the question, my big bro, Mark, coincidentally with the same last name as mine (author of PRINCES IN EXILE, DREAMS OF THE SOLO TRAPEZE and STARCROSSED) handed me a young adult book he found at the library he thought I’d like to read during the flight.

As I read the book, I thought, ‘I can do this!’

I returned from LA, and instead of moving there, I wrote my story about the rock star as a young adult novel and called it JOHNNY LIGHTNING.
Mark, my writing mentor, edited JL for me. He was kind enough to send the manuscript to his publisher in Belgium--Facet--and they published it! In Dutch!

I was now on a new life path!

In 2001 HarperCollins made me an offer I couldn’t refuse! Not only was HarperCollins going to publish TEENAGE MERMAID, but it was in a language I could read and book stores I could walk into! HarperCollins also bought VAMPIRE KISSES and COMEDY GIRL.

It was a dream come true!

Since beginning my new life path, VAMPIRE KISSES, TEENAGE MERMAID, and MY MOTHER, THE CLOWN have been published by Facet in Belgium and JOHNNY LIGHTNING has been published in Germany by Ravensburger.

Then my fabulous editor at HarperCollins asked me for a sequel to VAMPIRE KISSES!
HarperCollins published VAMPIRE KISSES 2--KISSING COFFINS and now the soon to be released VAMPIRE KISSES 3--VAMPIREVILLE. I am currently writing VAMPIRE KISSES 4!

When I'm not writing about the love affair between vampire obsessed, goth girl Raven and my favorite mysterious dark-eyed hottie, Alexander Sterling, I enjoy working on my other novels, shopping for Hello Kitty items, and attempting to gain control of the remote from my boyfriend.

This book is even better then the books before it! i love this series! Ok so in this book alexanders parents come back from romania and it puts a strain on raven and alexanders relationship. after a long time when they are back, raven finally gets invited into the mansion to meet his parents and when she goes she falls in love with them. The dinner goes perfectly and then alexanders mom decides to have a girls day with raven s0 then a few days later both alexanders mom and raven go out and they look like a freakshow because they are both goth. A few weeks later raven finds out that the mansion is going on sale from the news paper and not alexander himself so then she goes and then alexander tells her that they are selling the house and going back to romania because the fued between the maxwells was over. Raven and alexander were so sad so then they decided that if they spread rumors that the houses foundationis week and its a money pit then people wouldnt buy it. Trevor tells raven that his father is planing on vbuying the house, tearing it down, and making a strip mall so then alexander and raven both flip, then alexander decided he was going to buy the house from his parents but he didnt have enough money so then rav4en convinced him to put his paintings in the auction so then when he does his paintings sell for sooo much money then he has enough money for the down pament so then when he tells his parentss that hes buying the house from them they just take it off the market and leave it for him then they go back to romania and leave alexander and jameson in dullsvile.. Oh yeah and i forgot to say, alexanders family invited ravens family to the mansion and then his mom saaw a coffin and they saw a bat flying over them and then when the sterlings went over to ravens house, his mom asked ravens mom if she belived in vampires. I love this book but now i need to wait until i go to the library to get the other 2 books of the series :( oh and my favorite part of the book was all of the parts alexanders mom and trevor were in

Reading Vampire Kisses (1-6) is like watching your favorite T.V. show. Each book is similar to a weekly episode. In this episode, Royal Blood, Raven and Alexander have been blissfully enjoying their summer together without the hassle of school and a difference in hours they can spend together. Just as the summer ends, Alexander receives a note indicating that his parents are returning to town. While Raven is excited, Alexander is hesitant of their arrival. After they arrive they are spotted by many people in town but Raven has yet to meet them. Alexander purposely is keeping they separted. Once she does get to meet them, she just love them and their world. Her parents invite them to dinner and the Maxwells reciprocate. Unfortunately, the reason Alexander has been keeping his parents separated from Raven is revealed. It seems they plan to sell the mansion and take Alexander back to Romania with them. This sets the course of events to come since both Raven and Alexander refuse to allow this to happen. The plot is endearing and humorous with a bit of intrigue built in. Raven's nemesis, Trevor is really starting to "jones" for Raven even more. The ending of the story provides a clue as to what is to come in the 7th novel. Very entertaining.

Ive never had a book cause me to actually dream about the characters and its story before, until now. Ha. Ellen Scheiber has written some powerful books here and they have stayed with me and literally affected my Psyche.

I loved this one, book 6. Raven gets to meet Alexanders parents, in the process a lot of things come crashing to a halt. What could the future possibly hold for a long life relationship between vampire and a mortal? One would live for eternity while one dies. This was the way with Alexanders Grandmother. Will it be this way for Raven too. Will she be the one in the mansion at night staring up at the moon from her window, whilst all of the town whisper about her. As much as Raven wants to be a vampire, I dont think she will ever become one.

Highly recommend this whole series, YA or Vampire/Romance lovers or Goth lovers in general would truly appreciate these stories.

Since Kindergarten, Raven's biggest dream was to be a vampire. When her parents are hippies and you watched a lot of old horror films, why wouldn't she? Well, things haven't changed a lot since then, and now Raven's in high school. She's gothic, and gets rejected by all the preps at her school (which is everyone, except for her best friend, Becky). You could say her life is pretty boring - and it is. It is, until a strange and mysterious boy moves into the abandoned mansion up the road from Raven's house. Is he a vampire, and can he make Raven's dreams come true? Read the series to learn about an undying love between two very different teens.

Vampire Kisses just gets better and better! After spending magical summer nights cuddling in Alexander's coffin Raven can't wait to live happily forever after with her tall dark N dreamy vampire but trouble is coming for our love bats! When a mysterious note arrives in Alexander's mailbox, both he and Raven know change is coming. Raven is also dreading the return to school and junior year. She is being asked about a future career, when all she wants is the immortal bite from Alexander and to spend the rest of her life keeping him company while he paints. One of her first assignments is to pair up with the Mr. preppie Trevor Mitchell and interview each other about what they really want. She has always wanted to be a vampire, but what if she had a mortal future?

This was MUCH better than the previous books. I almost felt like I was reading a new series! I finally understand the Alexander and Raven relationship, but yet there were still things that irked me. (Minor spoilers?)

First off, what is with the whole "I am about to turn 18" junk from Alexander? Um, you're a VAMPIRE. What do you mean you're about to turn 18? Aren't you undead? How do you get any older?

And secondly, YOU'RE A VAMPIRE. Your parents tell you what to do still? REALLY?

But it was still a fun read.

This one was quick paced and full of lovely characters new and old.

I really am starting to like Trevor a lot more, I have a new respect for him.

Alexander has also grown so much in this book, though, he is still an expert at dodging questions. ;)

Maybe it's me, but this book read a little bit more mature. When I say that I mean the writing improved a little bit! And I love a progressive series (says the bitch who hardly ever reads them).

We got Raven, of course, and her boyfriend Alexander (swoon), then we are finally NOW introduced to Alexander's parents who exude fashion and vibes of Gomez and Morticia Addams.
description

Alexander's parents are worldly and interesting, visiting their son in Dullsville from Romania and other parts of Europe. I felt myself constantly wanting more of them every time they were mentioned or in the story. I'm not sure why, but they had the same effect on Raven where she admired these two like idols, especially Mortic--I mean, Mrs. Sterling. And I'm all for female mentors who obviously ooze confidence and sensuality.
description

Really loved the characters introduced into this book! Can only wonder what the next adventure will be for our young teenage lovebirds.

This one stood out from all the others in the series. I liked how the author mixed things up with this novel in terms of The development of Plot period I thought it was really good that she got away from How the others in this series were formatted with having a giant twist Handsome intense Ish action. This one was a little more subtle kind of similar to The previous novel. But I really enjoyed the plot development.

This is the 6th book in the Vampire Kisses series. It continues to follow Raven, her vampire boyfriend Alexander and her friends from school. Alexander's parents come home from their extended trip to Romania and come between Raven and him a bit. I don't want to go into this short book more as to not spoil the story but Alexander does get recognized again as an amazing artist. Books 1-4 were fun reads for me but I have to say that 5 and 6 rubbed me the wrong way. Raven is getting horrible and every thing has to be about her. Sad to see this happening. For me it is ruining the series.

Raven and her vampire boyfriend, Alexander, have had the perfect summer. With fall comes the beginning of school and the ending of their nights together.

The arrival of Alexander's parents makes things worse. While they're seen all over town, Alexander waits to introduce Raven to his parents, making her feel both neglected and hurt.

However, once they meet, she adores his parents and they seem to like her. Before long, Raven's family and Alexander's family start socializing - with Raven and Alexander on hand to make sure Raven's parents don't discover the truth.

But Alexander's parents didn't come to town to visit, they came to sell the mansion and take their son back to Europe with them. When the devastating news hits the couple, they vow to stop the sale.

ROYALD BLOOD continues with the romantic vampire saga of Raven and Alexander in a Gothic tale of love, loss, and friendship.

The 6th book of the Vampire Kisses Series and still loving it. This book was about Alexander's family visiting Alexander. Everybody but Raven has still the parents which makes Raven wonder, is Alex hiding them from her. Raven doesn't give up and eventually meets them. When she meets them, she really likes them and tries hard to show a good impression. That's not the only problem Raven have, another is at school, with Trevor, her nemesis. Raven and Trevor were paired up to do an English project together and Raven was not too thrill. But what crushed Raven's heart the most is that Alex's family was planning on selling their mansion and moving back to Romania.

Book by book, I still don't understand Trevor. I don't know if he hates Raven or likes her. For me, it feels like his "love" for Raven is impossible, so he doesn't show it. But in the art show, he bought a painting of Raven without her knowing.

Overall I like this series, but I wished it was longer and more suspense.

Royal blood is the 6th book of vampire dairies and it seems the story is getting more interesting.
This has always been a light, fast and a good gothic book. I have never encountered a girl like Raven in any other books . she is kind, brave, and really a loving person. She is totally in love with Alexander.

This book deals with now her parents relationship with Alexander's parents. Dealt with her parents view. This relationship was taken to new level and few interesting things to keep you hooked til the end. We came to know more about Raven's point of view and how Alexander's parents where and progress of Alexander's relationship with parents and new problems that arises few questions!

So yeah a totally goodread!

I kind of wonder sometimes, does she like Alexander for who he is or because he is a vampire. We don't get a lot of moments to really see their relationship. And to be honest I like Trevor more and more. He has more of a personality to me.

Royal blood...Ooh.

Book 6. I must say this book was not what I thought it would be. I was expecting a different story to go with this title, but turns out this is about Alexander's parents coming to town and trying to make him return to Romania with them.

As usual, the pair have obstacles to overcome and come up with all sorts of clever ideas to outsmart the parents. It's a very likeable story just like all the other thus far.

I'm starting to think I'll have to wait till book 8 for "it" to finally happen...we shall see.

Not bad. Goth girl has a vamp boyfriend. Life is ideal until his parents come. Notice I didn't say come home or come for a visit. Trying desperately not to give away the spoiler. In any case, it reflects what a guy's viewpoint of what they go through. Fairly written and easy to read. Geared for the younger side of young adult readers.

The sixth book in the Vampire Kisses series is different then the first five. There are no teen vampires causing trouble for Alexander and Raven, instead there is only Alexander's cool Vampire Parent's. The plot is quick paced, and you have to love all the pop culture comments Ellen Schreiber places throughout her novels. I would countine to take this series over Twilight any day.

Haha, if only life was that simple. One bite would mean an end to school, her family, and Trevor. Was Raven really prepared to do that?

Aww... This was the best book yet in the series. Why did the cat hiss at Alexander if, in the previous books, it was mentioned again and again how the cat didn't, in fact, hiss at Alexander?

There isn't really much drama in this latest installment except that of meeting your boyfriend's parents...who happen to be vampires.

Summer vacation is over, and Raven Madison is back at Dullsville High as a junior. The only drawback is that she has to put up with Trevor Mitchell as her partner for an English assignment that is part of her grades for eventually getting into college.

After a journey among vampires in Hipsterville, Alexander Sterling is back at the mansion on the hill and Raven has been giving it a few touches to make it feel like home...she even has a "drawer" for her stuff. A letter soon arrives from Alexander's parents saying they will be coming back into town after business has kept them away in Europe and their own home in Romania.

Everyone in the town gets a look at the couple from faraway glances but Raven has yet to meet her boyfriend's parents. Alexander calls his father by his first name and tells Raven his mother is also looking out for him because he is her baby to his annoyance but that's just any teenager whether immortal or not.

When she is invited to the mansion to join them for dinner, Raven finds Constantine and Cassandra Sterling to be everything she imagined with their stylish European clothing and gothic flair to a skull topped cane and carrying around a parasol at night, wearing a cape and long, purple fingernails. Cassandra even spends some girl time with Raven and buys her a custom-made purse, but Alexander doesn't seem happy that his parents seem to adore his girlfriend.

Raven's mother invites the Sterlings to their home for dinner to Raven's shock but the vampires and her parents...get along just fine. Maybe it helps that Raven bribed Billy to go to the movies with Henry that make such a good impression. The Sterlings appreciate the Madison family being the only people in town to welcome them into their home and their town that they ask Raven's parents to come to the mansion for a cocktail hour.

Raven's mother seems to be intimidated by Cassandra Sterling's fashion sense, but Raven assures her mother that what she wears is just as nice because it is just right for her.

Some of the good vibes going around get smashed flat when Raven finds that Alexander's parents want to sell the mansion and have their son return home with them to Romania! Since there is now no feud between the Sterlings and the Maxwell family, Alexander doesn't have to be sent away to his ancestral home in America anymore.

Raven is determined to keep the mansion from being sold but gets more than she bargained for when she hears from Trevor that his dad may buy the land and demolish the mansion if no one buys it to put in a new mall. Never getting to see the love of your life ever again and have the only memory of your happy times together destroyed?

Raven and Alexander are determined to save the symbolism and history of their romance at any cost.

The course of true love never runs smooth...especially for a goth and her tortured vampire artiste.

Royal Blood is just a sweet breath of fresh air after so much drama and dire consequences of vampires invading suburbia but there are still three more books to go...

Raven is now back in Dullsville and another year in high school is about to begin. Raven is hardly looking forward to going back to school. Not only will she end up seeing her beloved vampire Alexander less, she will have to do homework and see her nemesis Trevor. One day, an unexpected letter arrives for Alexander announcing his parents' arrival to Dullsville. Raven cannot wait to meet her boyfriend's parents and hopes that they would approve of her - a mortal teenaged girl, a commoner, dating their son - vampire royalty. Meanwhile, Alexander seems on edge.
When Mr. and Mrs. Sterling do arrive, it appears as if everyone else in town has gotten a sighting of them... everyone except Raven. It appears as if Alexander is hiding his parents from her. Raven nothing more than to know why? Is it because they do not approve? Or is Alexander hiding something else from her. Raven will have to do what she does best and find out what is going on in the mansion at Benson Hill.
Royal Blood is the sixth book (of nine books altogether) in the Vampire Kisses series. This book reprises the formula of the other books. Vampires arrive and Raven investigates. There is something a bit anticlimactic about every ending. However, I don't really mind. By now, I know what to expect. I do not expect a bunch of action and explosions, and that is okay. I do expect that Raven will still contemplate the pros and cons of being a vampire. She'll keep telling Alexander to turn her, and then she'll think differently when she remembers about her life as a mortal.
Will Raven ever become a vampire? It seems like the only logical conclusion that Raven will end up as a vampire at the end of the series. After all, she has stated many (so many) times that she cannot live without Alexander, and he cannot live without her. It is doubtful that Alexander will become mortal.
And so, although I can guess what will happen three books from now, I am still excited to see where the series will go, the new characters who will pop up in Dullsville. Hopefully, there will be another trip to Hipsterville in the near future with a bit more of Aunt Libby.
If you liked the other books in the series, then you'll like this one.

Royal Blood is the sixth installment of the Vampire Kisses series. It’s around 200 pages long. We haven’t had book this long in the series since the first installment. The other ones range around 160-180 pages so far. I do know the books get a little longer after Royal Blood, which I love because I adore this series so much. They definitely have a special place in my heart.

This installment’s main plot is that Alexander’s parents finally arrive to Dullsville to visit their beloved son. Raven is ecstatic to meet her beau’s parents. Alexander on the other hand, is not as thrilled as his girlfriend. Days after the Sterling couple’s arrival everyone but Raven has seen the vampiric couple.

Time for an intervention on Raven’s behalf of course. Raven’s wish comes trues as she finally gets to meet Alexander’s elusive and enigmatic parents. Constantine and Cassandra Sterling are not your typical everyday familial couple. Think of Gomez and Morticia Addams and you’ll imagine what they look like. At first they do come off quite imposing and rather blunt when it comes to their first interaction with Raven with their backhanded comments about Raven’s obsession with vampires and how much her predicament is similar to Alexander’s late grandmother. But with all due time they do warm up to Raven eventually.

What is Alexander’s parents sudden arrival at Dullsville mean? What is their reason for coming all the way from Romania? And what does their presence mean for Alexander’s and Raven’s relationship?

I feel this book was more of a filler book in my opinion. Nothing major is going on other than Alexander’s parents coming in and interfering in Raven and Alexander’s relationship. Just the typical drama that happens whenever you meet your significant other’s parents. It’s ironic to me that the least happens in this book, but at the exact time the biggest conundrum occurs in this book as well.

I’m going to give this book a 3/5. In my opinion, this book is the most lackluster in the entire series. It can be that I was already used to a nefarious villain making their sudden appearance in every book. Royal Blood was definitely lacking the villainy that other Vampire Kisses books provided. But overall a good and entertaining read.

The Vampire Kisses series is a great young adult series of books full of paranormal and supernatural elements, teenage drama, angst, and spooky fun. While I love a great vampire story, this series is definitely aimed towards a much younger audience. I did however enjoy following Raven on her ‘adventures’- meeting Alexander and the rest of the quirky cast. I ended up reading this series as a buddy read with a 15-year-old girl. It was great to get her perspective on the books, and to see them through her eyes. This is definitely an insta-love situation, but the story is quick, easy and fun. Just keep in mind that it is definitely aimed towards 14 to 17 year-olds and is quite simplistic in style.
Raven lives in a small town where nothing really happens, she calls it “Dullsville”. She’s the outsider of the town, the Goth girl who is a little strange in everyone’s eyes. She is a bit of a drama queen- and spends a lot of time in her dream world. She has a fascination for horror movies and all things vampire. When other little girls wanted to become ballerina’s, Raven wanted to be a vampire. Then a mysterious, creepy family moves into the old haunted mansion and rumors abound with what they could be. Raven’s world changes and her adventures begin.
A sweet, cute, romantic, and fun read. A perfect teenage read.

Thank you, Ms. Schreiber!
