Loves this book

Mia is a Paris travel guide and her adventures with the women she shows around Paris are colorful, descriptive, and informative. It made me want to go back, and it made me think about how much I would love to do this as a profession. If you love Paris or dream about it, you will love this book!

I wanted to love this book. Paris is one of my favorite places and I've read and written about it extensively. On the plus side, the author did a good job of showcasing various attractions. She certainly knows a lot about the city. I couldn't get past the silly plots though. Basically, the synopsis on the back of the book gives you all the background information you're going to get on each of Mia's clients. Each client has one thing in their life that's not working and, through the magic of Paris (and Mia), their problem is solved by the end of their seven day trip. As plots go, they were pretty unbelievable. Also, the lighthearted tone of the book changed dramatically with the last character, who was depressing and somber...yet, with Mia's help, she was magically transformed at the end of her trip! Ridiculous. I give the author credit for trying a new approach to the typical travel guide but this book just didn't do it for me.

Dreamy

This book reminded me of all the places in Paris that I loved so much when I was there last summer. It brought back to me the places I loved , the people I met, and all of the wonderful experiences I had. And now I will go back to relax more in the moments as opposed to running around trying to see everything at once. This was a fabulous sense of the City of Light, and I would recommend this to all who have been there, and those who have not. It will definitely inspire anyone to go!

I really enjoyed this book as I daydream about my next trip to Paris - despite too many typos, especially of the French words. Ordinarily such typos might cause me to stop reading a book, but this time I liked the book enough to enjoy it anyway. Lots of talk about eating, and walking the streets of Paris. I felt it was actually well written - just needed an editor to clean up the spelling and such.

I want to go to Paris with Mia

This is what it would be like to go to Paris with a good friend who knows the city inside and out and knows what you like. The story lines are fairly simple but the destinations and the food are to die for. I wanted the book to go on and on.

“The Paris Effect” in two words…Delightfully Delicious! From the opener, the author captures the spirit and enthusiasm for all things Paris. She describes the city, the food and the people with passion and knowledge. It is quite clear that she knows this city. I loved each of the characters in their own right. While reading I found myself laughing out loud, while other times I was holding back tears. This book and its author will take you on a wonderful journey throughout Paris! And for any of you out there with a love for Paris, for food and for great writing...this book is for you! Also, I just stumbled upon her blog recently too. It is tremendous! http://www.thepariseffect.net/blog

This Is A Dreadful Book

The author changes tenses, seemingly as the whim strikes her. Her tourist guest is an incredibly annoying PITA. I forced myself to finish two chapters, partially because of my astonishment that this ghastly book was ever published.
