BE THIS BOOK IS FOR A MATURE AUDIENCE AND CONTAINS GRAPHIC SEX AND VIOLENCE. Tobias, who writes under the pen name T.K. Tantrum, has received a special gift from his assistant. He's going to an author retreat where he will get the chance to sit and write at the desk of his fallen idol, Melvin Morose, a sick and demented horror writer who hanged himself in the very room in which Tobias will be working. The Grand Georgina, the venue for the retreat, was once a stop on the Underground Railroad, but this hotel is much more than a haunted historical relic. It has become a sick and twisted playground for an evil, demonic company called Diablo Snuff. If you read book 1, you know how horrific Diablo Snuff is. Just wait 'til you read this one.
My name is Carver Pike. Since as far back as I can remember, I've been fascinated by everything horror. I'd sit cross-legged in front of the TV and watch The Texas Chainsaw Massacre while devouring a bowl of Kaboom cereal. I always wished the ghost at the end of each episode of Scooby-Doo wouldn't be just another man behind the mask. I wanted real ghastly ghouls, dastardly demons, and malevolent monsters.
At some point, I knew I couldn't sit back and keep watching this horror world from the stands. I wanted to be in the game. So, now I wield this virtual pen and sling ink onto this page with the hopes of someday being a major player. I want to create those worlds you visit, feed that fear that keeps you up late at night, and entertain you in ways only the greatest storytellers can.
Be advised, most of my books are very graphic in nature. Most contain strong violence, and some have very detailed sex scenes. I try to give you a warning in the book blurb.
Hopefully, we'll form a great author-reader relationship and you'll come to trust that Carver Pike will always keep you entertained.

My second Diablo Snuff read, and I was not disappointed. This one brings us to a writer's retreat, The Grand Georgina, which used to be a stop on the underground railroad. Tobias, a horror writer, is thrilled as his favorite author wrote his famous novel there. From the start things are less than normal. He soon learns fame comes with a price and depravity. Deep underground is the twisted playground of Diablo Snuff and all the horrors he can inflict. Excellent read!
Carver Pike has me hooked again. The second of the Diablo Snuff series is completely insane, with tension building around a creepy house, a writers' retreat and ominous presences that make you realize that you should be very afraid. Horrific and erotic, this has everything that I look for in a horror novel. I just bought the other four books, and I am ready to read the first. Again.
This book, the second in the Diablo Snuff series, was such a lot of fun!! Jam packed full of all the splatterpunk goodies, violence, torture, blood, gore, and a ton of SEX! This story centres around a horror author called Tobias/TK Tantrum, who goes to an ‘authors retreat’ as it’s the place where his favourite author Melvin Morose got the inspiration to write all of his blockbusters, before dying. When he arrives, the ‘hotel’ is rundown and he wonders why anyone would want to stay there, but stay there he does! From then on, he realises not all is as it seems, and it turns into a retreat in HELL! I really liked book one, but this is so much better, and Michael from the first books even makes an appearance. A thrill from start to finish, and I’m looking forward to reading the others in this series. A grindingly horrifically fun 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
THUMP..THUD..THUMP...You're Dead... you're dead...you're dead...dead...dead...dead. You'll never enter the house of ol'Charlie Red. I fucking loved this book I've been caught sleeping one again Carver Pike rules man. This book had me trippin... At first it was like a dream within a dream and realities seeming like paranoid hallucinations and the sex and the violence and the demons and twists and turns. I highly recommend this one. This was really hard to put down and when I wasn't able to read I was thinking about it. This has something for everyone that loves horror and then some. Awesome fucking read.
Holy crap you have some effed up dream Mr. Pike. This story had me guessing throughout the entire book what was real and what was not. Was it a dream, something paranormal, or is Tobias tripping on acid and it was all just a bad trip? It was lots of fun with some intense and creepy parts, some gore, sex, and some paranormal in it. On to the next one!
Somewhere during this book I went from feeling like I was in a weird dream to feeling like I was reading someone else's weird dream. The beginning is like chaos with drunken debauchery, then it transitions into pure evil. The ending felt like all the breath left my body because I know what's coming next.
This was a fast, fun and erotic read. I wouldn't consider it much of a sequel, but a tie in to the first book. This story revolves around a writer's retreat at a creepy, old hotel. Things aren't what they seem and the sex and gore start from the beginning. A solid read from Carver Pike.
A consistently eerie tale all the way to it's smashing end!!!!
Just like any other book from this author he hits the ground running. Then the creepy and spine tingling action sucks you in right from the start.
Without giving anything away Tobias is an author who's been given the opportunity to go to an author retreat and write at the very desk his favorite author use to write at. However, from the moment he gets to the grounds that he's suppose to stay at he starts seeing strange things. He also meets up with Angelica and let's just say they have lots of "fun" together. The longer he's at this retreat though the more he knows something is WRONG. He's not sure what but as he's snooping he knows that if he doesn't him and Angelica out of here now they will never leave.
The description of things throughout this book will put chills all over. This author gave me a story that will definitely be remembered for awhile.
Who would think when you go to an author retreat that you'd get a new career???
The second book in this series was a lot different than the first one. This one has lots of dream sequences, not sure what’s real or not. More erotic than extreme horror to me. Story line seemed cool but read as more of a horror novel. I’ll read the next one 🤘
For those unfamiliar with the breathtaking works of the Carver Pike this novel is Diablo Snuff book 2, and the sequel to A Foreign Evil: Diablo Snuff book 1. If you have yet to read my review of A Foreign Evil you should probably go back and do so now.
The Grindhouse: Diablo Snuff book 2 by Carver Pike was absolutely incredible! The characters were so fleshed out, Carver triggered all of my senses with his in depth descriptions of sights, sounds, smells, taste, and touch! I felt like I actually was experiencing what our main protagonist was! Before I dive in any deeper I have to say I have yet to be disappointed by a single book I have picked up of Pike’s. The Grindhouse did not break that record!
The plot of the story seems simple enough, but I assure you it is not! An author, T.K. Tantrum, sets off to The Grand Georgina for a writers retreat. It has been graced by the presence of many famous authors, and one in particular that Tobias has drawn much inspiration. Melvin Morose is the author that made Tobias interested in The Grand Georgina. He wants nothing more than to reach the caliber of Morose in his horror writing. However, there is a dark side to The Grand Georgina. Many authors have died there. Including Melvin. Nevertheless, Tobias would love nothing more than to write where Melvin wrote, create a masterpiece of horror, and his friend and aid Pam made a wish turn into a reality.
Almost immediately upon arrival Tobias senses that the hotel is quite peculiar. As well as some very eccentric guests and hosts. As the retreat ensues it seems to be a time of merriment, and writing. However, Tobias keeps receiving odd verbal messages from other patrons. Very lewd and straightforward in fact. He questions himself as to if he hears this crass remarks correctly, but ultimately shakes them off. His eyes are instantly drawn to and fixated on his next door neighbor Angelica, a writer of erotica, and he has all intentions of attempting to make a connection.
As the retreat rolls on full force things start to turn quite bizarre quickly, and Tobias feels as though he is the only one seeing the signs. Guests become sex fueled nymphomaniacs, and cannot seem to contain themselves. Even in front of everyone else in attendance! Tobias also starts having odd visions that he chalks up as too much drink. A mysterious man haunts him, as does three immensely disgusting children.
As the writers retreat rolls on happenings become even stranger still. Occurrences once seemingly harmless begin to seem very sinister indeed. Tobias can only think that he needs to get lost, and quick. But what about Angelica? What about the other guests? Is he simply mad? Or will The Grand Georgina, and it’s history hold the same fate for Tobias as so many writers that visited before him?
The Grindhouse is filled with graphic sexual scenes, gruesome segments, mystery, and many haunting aspects that seem to be tied to the history of the cursed hotel. It is a tantalizing ride from beginning to end! When things are not hot and heavy, Carver sets your leg in a bear trap of horror. Pike has honed his writing to such a point it is nearly immaculate. As with A Foreign Evil I could not put this novel down! In fact I am moving onto his Diablo Snuff spin offs next I am so transfixed. I warn you! Carver Pike will give you a taste, leave you with some questions, and have you fiending for more!
All in all, I give The Grindhouse: Diablo Snuff book 2 by Carver Pike five shimmering stars out of five! I loved the parts where I was left questioning, “what will happen next? I need to know!” You know that it is a fabulous read when that happens. As I mentioned above Pike’s descriptiveness is so vivid it made me feel like I was there! The characterizations were so amazing that they felt like real people. The atmosphere was simply spooky and disturbing in itself. Carver never ceases to amaze me at his diversity of talents. Not to mention intertwining them into one body of work. That is absolutely mind blowing! If you have yet to pick up a Carver Pike novel what are you waiting for? They have all been such hellaciously delicious treats that I have to keep coming back for more!
I started on this straight after finishing the first book in the series, A Foreign Evil, and loved it. Reminiscent of the Hostel franchise, the protagonist-a horror writer-goes to a weekend retreat to write his next book, but it soon becomes clear something is very wrong with this hotel. Right from the start the protagonist and the other authors also staying there are thrust into wild, sex-craved parties losing any and all inhibitions and soon forgetting about getting any writing done. But then the horror starts. Taken on a tour of the hotel with all its grisly history, past merges with present as the protagonist starts suffering horrible visions and seeing things and people who should be long-since dead. And leaving the retreat is not as easy as he thinks as the horror ramps up. My first extreme horror books and definitely some great and grusesome scenes to enjoy for those so inclined. Well edited and written, a definite recommend, but perhaps not something you want your kids to get their hands on!!
I really enjoyed the first book. The 2nd book was just an awesome strange ride. Diablo Snuff takes it up a notch in this book. It's filled with tons of sex and gore. Slowly making my way through all the Diablo Snuff books.
The Grind House continues the descent into madness that is Pike's Diablo Snuff series of books. If you've read A Foreign Evil and Passion & Pain, you'll have some idea what to expect while still finding yourself surprised around every twist and turn captured by the author's impressive imagination. While the previous two installments focused heavily on monstrous cruelty and torture inflicted by agents of the malevolent organization known as Diablo Snuff, this book leans heavily on things that can't be perceived as anything other than the supernatural. The visions of demonic entities--post-climax--in A Foreign Evil could easily be dismissed as little more than the feverish hallucinations of a man who went through hell. It's far more challenging to similarly write off shared visions of inhuman horrors and other aspects of the tale unfolding within The Grind House. Of course, we all knew these things were real--in the context of the story--but it hits home much harder in this book than the previous immersions into the world of Diablo Snuff. Fans of the previous two stories in the Diablo Snuff series will be happy to encounter some familiar characters at different points in this novel. I know I certainly was. In this book, as in the previous two, Pike's history as a writer of dark romance and erotica comes to the forefront in a big way, weaving together heavily eroticized encounters with sheer, unrelenting lunacy. It takes a certain undefined skill to seamlessly blend graphic, sensual intimacy with a bewildering, undercurrent of horror, but it's a skill Pike has in spades. It's The Shining on MDMA. If Shirley Jackson had channeled Marquis de Sade when writing The Haunting, we might be coming close to what you'll find within these pages. This isn't necessarily to suggest The Grind House is a haunted house tale, but in a sense, it most certainly is. If a place can absorb the evil of those within its walls--or beneath its foundations, The Grand Georgina most certainly has. Tobias (T.K. Tantrum) is in for far more than he or his assistant anticipated when he was signed up to attend the writers retreat at The Grand Georgina. He hoped to write the masterpiece that had eluded him so far in his modestly successful career, but he finds himself drawn into real-life peril that rivals anything he could have written. As the abominations of both past and present are revealed, the insidious trap Tobias finds himself within may be something from which even madness provides no escape. As prurience gives way to panic, it may already be too late for any to escape the clutches of Diablo Snuff.
This blew me away! What a great novel to follow on from the novella A Foreign Evil. This series is such a page turner and I can't wait to find out what happens next. I don't read a lot of extreme horror but Carver Pike has got a natural talent for it, he knows how to spin a truly gruesome tale which keeps you wanting more. This one about a writer's retreat which has dark, horrifying secrets will make your hairs stand on end. An excellent 2nd instalment in the Diablo Snuff series!
I read this very soon after the first Diablo Snuff book, as I couldn't wait to get back into this nightmare again... and it didn't disappoint. The action takes place at a writers retreat, and after reading the first story, I couldn't wait for things to start getting nasty, and I didn't have long to wait! I very much look forward to reading the rest of the series, but so far this is my favourite of the two I have read so far. This author is fantastic at crafting an escalating nightmare!
Awesome. Had me completely hooked from page 1. Im going to read the two side stories now, then try my best to be patient and wait for The Maddening!! Great stuff!!
I was blown away by this story. Book 1 was great, book 2 was amazing. Part thriller, part haunted everything, all horror. The ending and how it all comes together is fantastic. I know I have a few more Diablo books to read and more new ones to wait for, so excited. What would you do if you were able to do whatever you wanted, whenever, to whom ever and they wanted the same thing? All hell breaks loose when a group or writer get together to writer their masterpiece. Just remember that Diablo Snuff is just under the skin waiting to consume all who feed on what is offered…and everything is offered. All I can say is that I would have died in this book..I’m no hero. Loved this one Carver!
I wish I could review this book with emojis because it defies words. But I will try words anyway.
The Grindhouse by Carver Pike is the second book in the Diablo Snuff series, and it takes erotic extreme horror to a new level of erotic horror.
Why?
Well, first off, the eroticism (blatant sex and sexuality) is not gratuitous; it is an integral part of the story. Second, the blatant sex and sexuality is not just graphic descriptions of said sex and sexuality; it includes the feelings both physical and emotional that tie it to the storyline and create an evocative response in the reader. Third, they’re really good descriptions! Fourth and last (but not least), there’s an element of horror attached, so hold on to your personal taboos and secret desires.
grindhouse1bbbThe Grindhouse is titillating and suspenseful in addition to being erotic and horrifying. The tension holds you captive while the disturbing content invades your mind and warps your thoughts. It is a very compelling story in spite of its almost nonconsensual evocative nature. Following a prologue that invokes Diablo Snuff 1, A Foreign Evil, the story is told in brilliant and engrossing first person. I like Tobias. I like the way he tells me the story. I like his admission of faults and humanity and fear. Carver Pike makes Tobias almost uncomfortably real.
Oh yeah, just a reminder, this is Extreme Horror, so the both the violence and sex are graphic and not for those with delicate constitutions. Extreme Horror fans will love it, though.
In The Grindhouse, Carver Pike takes Diablo Snuff to a new level, expands it and expounds on it and turns it into a full blown mythos. The good news? There’s more.
Yes I think a letter is warranted after reading the Grindhouse: Diablo Snuff 2. I am currently in a fetal position sitting on the floor rocking back and forth. I think I have been traumatized. Nah, just messing with you but hell every creak and noise in my house will now having me think Diablo Snuff is coming for me. Don’t laugh...it’s the truth. I don’t do scary things and I blame you now that I can’t stop reading your books (so not a bad thing btw - ADDICTED).
Dude, The Grindhouse was beyond amazing. I was terrified at parts but h@ll it made the story the story. I am still in disbelief by some of the things I read. The chills that ran up my spine at parts, the hold your breathe till the scene ends parts, the Blood, the guts, the kinky sex, more blood and guts, oh and throw in a love story in the mix of all this Chaos and I am just purely blown away and scared as to how this storyline was even created. Your mind Carver Pike kinda scares me but completely intrigues me at the same time. Just thought you should know :)
Sincerely, Emilie
Ok, Let’s now get down to business....
Tobias: Let’s go to an Author Retreat my PA says. You will get your MASTERPIECE written she said. It will be AMAZING and you can REJUVENATE and RELAX she said. Yeah OK. That was a brilliant idea. NOT. Get where I am going...yeah Carver it wasn’t all flowers and sunshine - it was pure evil. Pure freaking evil.
Angelica: She too had this brilliant idea of attending an Author Retreat. She too thought it would help bring the BRILLIANCE out and help her create a Best Seller. WRONG... WRONG... WRONG... Just pure evil.
Diablo Snuff: Just really...We find out more about the INS and OUTS of what or maybe who Diablo Snuff is but still are left just as confused as ever. Will the Evil ever end. Oh and thanks now too Carver every time I’m out I am going to think I am being stalk by one of them. Like really, the book was so realistic at times - it really does warrant one curling up into the fetal position and just hiding. Pure Evil.
While at this Author Retreat weird and unexplainable things start happening. When Tobias questions it he is told by Angelica “Don’t worry about it. It is all part of the experience the hotel is trying to create for us.” Oh what little they knew. More details can’t really be given - it will ruin the experience for you. Just know it may or may not be the ride of your life 😮 and totally worth all the ups and downs and in betweens.
This book again will have chills crawling up your spine. It will haunt you and potentially scare you but you are so drawn into the story you can’t help but keep reading. At the end of the day as scary and whacked out The Grindhouse: Diablo Snuff 2 was you got me..hook line and sinker. I am officially addicted to Carver Pike.
Carver Pike once again takes us on a whirl wind of a journey that will leave you a little breathless and wonder what what the devil is going on. We meet our cast of characters at The Grand Georgina Hotel where Tobias aka T.K. Tantrum is looking forward to writing in the very room his idol Melvin Morose hanged himself in after completing his last book. Sounds delightful doesn't it. After meeting a few of the other authors and Delores you start to get the feeling things are aren't quite what they seem at this writers retreat. As Tobias learns the history of the Hotel he stumbles across the name Diablo Snuff and begins to sense that there is evil lurking around every corner and slowly making its way into the visiting authors minds. Without giving too much away it becomes a story of survival and a story of good against evil. Will Tobias survive to tell the story of Charlie Red and what he witnesses at The Grand Georgina or will be be consumed by Diablo Snuff like so many have? There's a lot going on in the 300+ pages of Diablo Snuff 2 but Carver Pike manages to keep it going and the book flows well. At one point it was pretty fast and furious and I felt like my legs were aching as I read how Tobias makes his way through the woods in a desperate effort to escape the evil that is Diablo Snuff. We of course have a love interest for Tobias, the lovely Angelica, and we meet up with some of the characters from Diablo Snuff 1. For me this Series is more Erotic Suspense then horror, although some parts of it are pretty horrific. Carver Pike does know how to keep you on the edge of your seat while you wonder how on earth he came up with these characters and this story. We now await the next book in this series and although I am looking forward to it I dread to think what is going on in Carver Pikes mind as he writes it and what he is going to come up with. As long as Charlie Red doesn't make an appearance I'll be fine.
This book. Wow. So I had started reading it. Got a little scared and shut the book. Then I went back to reread it with a group of friends and wow. I don't think I will get much sleep. This book was so we written. I was awaiting the same plot format from Book 1, then BAM! Surprise totally different and after I pulled up my big girl panties, I could not put it down! Wow!!! This book gives you a glimpse of our favorite people from Book 1, Michael. Hehehe. Loved me some Michael. This time we are introduced to new characters. Characters that will pull you in and make you addicted to them. I totally have a girl crush on Angelica. A group of Authors is all brought together for an Authors Retreat. Now, the place of the Authors Retreat was just freaky and the story behind it will probably give me nightmares for weeks. Diablo Snuff. Need I say more??!! Diablo is totally equivalent to any Freddy or Jason. The book was pretty Hot though before I knew it my hand was sneaking down south as the characters were partaking in orgies and the juices flowing... This was an extremely Hot, Scary, Vivid book that makes you totally question... What TF is Carver Pike thinking? Another win for Carver Pike.
The Grind House Diablo Snuff 2 by Carver Pike was so much more than I anticipated. After reading the synopsis, I never imagined how much this book would frighten me. But I also knew that I should never underestimate Carver Pike. There are only 2 other books by him that scared me this much and we wont mention those. And I cannot wait until the next Diablo Snuff book.
T.K Tantrum went to the retreat of a lifetime. He was going to write his next best seller in the room where his favorite author died. In his mind it was a dream come true…. But all the events that followed and happened that weekend will be something he will never forget. I’m not going to give any spoilers… you will have to read to find out more. Once you read Carver Pike, you become enthralled in his books and mind. One question that always comes to mind is… “Did I just read what I think I did?”
Finally, this book was steamy, sexy, horrifying, but also made me laugh so hard I was crying and then I was terrified to get out of my bed because I kept hearing noises. Well done Carver.
” Liquid nightmare. That’s what I decided to call it.” "Diablo Snuff is every shadow, everywhere."
You know how you're watching a scary movie by yourself and you start jumping at every little sound? That was how I felt reading this mindf**k of a book. Tobias thought he was getting the experience of a lifetime when he took that fateful trip to an author retreat, but he got so much more than he ever dreamed. The sinister horrors and the diabolical machinations Tobias found at the evil vortex that was the Grand Georgina were heinously surreal - the very nightmares that strike fear in us. The myriad of evil souls he met were like every scary movie you've ever seen times a thousand. Throughout the story, the lines between dreams/nightmares and reality were blurred. I think it crossed my mind many times that this was certainly an epic House of Horrors on steroids. The scenes were erotically and gruesomely vivid, and the characters were complex and multi-faceted. Still breathless after finishing it, and by the way, the story doesn't end here. I can't wait for the next one!
If you read Diablo Snuff 1, you're just getting warmed up. You *need* to read Diablo Snuff 2! Be prepared for a serious mind-bender!
I could not put this book down. It was scary, captivating and kept me glued to each page. Carver Pike has a way with words that keeps a story interesting and at a constant peak. Diablo Snuff is frightening because it is all around us in reality in the form of serial killers, rapists or cannibalism. We often forget how much we are surrounded by evil until you read about it. This book brings all evil together in one and brings it to a whole new level. It frightens you, makes you cringe and root for a better ending. The plot of the story is incredible with the feel of an retreat but evil lurking right around the corner. The book ends with a bit of a cliffhanger and a glimpse into Diablo Snuff 3: The Maddening. Evil will continue... Erotic Horror is a fairly new genre for me and I was first introduced to it by Carver Pike. Mixing sexy and evil can be challenging and Carver Pike has the perfect blend of both. This is a great read if you like horror mixed with great erotica.
A fantastic story that keeps you on the edge of your seat until the end. In The Grindhouse, we follow writer T.K. Tantrum, aka Tobias, to a retreat held in an old estate turned hotel that is ground zero for some of the most horrific crimes. As soon as Tobias steps over the threshold he’s taken into a madhouse of sorts. Throughout the story, the reader is taken on a journey where you wonder what is real and what is his imagination. Could all of those things be real or are you sucked into the folklore of the setting? It’s not until the explosive ending where you see where all the madness lies.
The first book was fabulous, but the second in the series just takes you into the darkness of Diablo Snuff and you just hope you get out alive! I absolutely loved this book! Talk about a page turner! I couldn’t put it down! This story is so well written and takes you into the back history of where it all began! Carver pike does a brilliant job melding the past with the present to help us understand how Diablo Snuff became so powerful. This is a wild ride. It’s sexy and fast paced!! Must read thrill!
This book was outstanding, a great full length follow up to book 1. Tobias is a horror writer and is booked into an authors retreat where he hopes to find inspiration by writing in the same room his favourite author has used in the past. He starts to get strange and twisted visions which unnerve him but decides to stay thinking its all a gimmick to get the authors to write. Things go from bad to worse as the story progresses but I couldn’t wait to see what came next, definitely a page turner would highly recommend.
The first book was so unique (and short) the author could have easily coasted with more of the same wicked "death rooms" (I so wanted to explore more of these haha) Instead I was very pleasantly surprised. You are given more of the story with all the grit, horror and naughty fun of the first book. :) Will be keeping an eye out for book 3.
This book is about an author. He is bought tickets to an author retreat by his PA. Little does he know what is really going on there until it is almost too late. I liked the story for the most part. It did seem to run on a bit much in certain scenes. It is very graphic if you have any issues with blood and gore it isn't for you.
Wow, I thought A Foreign Evil was good, hold on to your horses with this one!! I thought it started off a little slow, but boy was that made up for when the action started! This book is filled with sex, gore and a ton of blood and kept me tense the whole time! I can't wait to see where the next three books in the series leads to!
