Memoirs of a Headbanger: A Rock Novel
It's the excessive nineteen-eighties in the suburbs of America. Nurtured by music video, mass merchandising and suburban angst, young underachiever Mark and his heavy metal band seek the American Dream. Their world is one of drum solos and power chords, big hair and spandex--the only community they've ever known.
Memoirs of a Headbanger is an intimate look at the triumphs and tragedies of a local rock band aspiring to greatness. The story is told through the eyes of lead singer Mark Magruder, who recalls his glory days with a self-effacing sense of humor and heart. The novel deals with the power and promise of modern dreams, and the bond shared between those who pursue these impossible goals.
