Treasure That Lasts: Trading Privilege, Pleasure, and Power for What Really Matters

Rate this book
We are surrounded by the temptation to glorify ourselves. We post carefully curated selfies on Instagram, chase money and pleasure, and live the "image is everything" lifestyle. We've created a culture of envy, emptiness, and depression. Even the church has bought into worldly values of wealth and status. God put us on this earth not to seek our own glory but to shine the light of his glory on a dying world.

Through the life of Moses, pastor and author Michael Youssef shows us how to store up treasure that lasts by living for God's glory. Moses turned his back on privilege, pleasure, and power to invest in treasure that lasts--the treasure of God's glory. His goal must be our goal as well.

Experience the rich life God intended for you. If you're not sure you've truly surrendered your whole life to God, let Treasure That Lasts be the flame that lights the way to reliance on him.

This book includes a chapter-by-chapter guide for group discussion or individual study.

In our pursuit of money, pleasure and image on social media, we’ve created a culture of envy, emptiness and depression. The year of covid has added to this feeling of despair. I found this small book on Moses and his journey in Exodus and Numbers to be just the book to give me hope for a wiser future in Christ.

This book is written for the ordinary people, challenging them to trade privilege, pleasure and power for what really matters. The 16 chapters began with a short true story and then fills us in on the struggles of Moses and his followers, and ends with 4 excellent questions to apply for your own journey with Christ. It could be used with teens or men and women in a small discussion study and be as fresh and meaningful for each person in his journey. The author admits to personal weaknesses and explores the weaknesses of Moses, Aaron and Miriam as they wander for 40 years after leaving Egypt.

Today we want quick and permanent fixes to our questions, but the answers will sometimes be very slow in coming as we work through the honest work of examination of our faults and beliefs. This book is as fresh today as all those years since Moses. I intend to suggest it for my small group, and could see it as a sermon series. Excellent title.

This is an excellent study in the life of Moses as presented in the Nook of Exodus. The last chapter was worth the price of the book for me. Get it, study it, and apply what you read to be truly blessed with Treasure That Lasts.

This is an absolutely brilliant Bible study on the book of Exodus. The questions for reflection and discussion at the end of each chapter are very helpful and make the book suitable for use in a group setting.
