I love to skateboard but hate the attention. It’s hard to stay under the radar when I’m the only girl at the skatepark, especially when I’m better than the guys.
Not every guy though.
Early one morning I find the only other person at the park with me is none other than Beckett Steele, world champion. Now his attention I don’t mind one bit, and I crave more of it. That’s until he blows me off as soon as he learns I’m seventeen to his twenty-five. Whatever, it’s for the best. I could never handle hanging out with a famous guy like him.
When someone posts a video of me skateboarding that goes viral, Beckett’s best friend offers me an opportunity I never saw coming. It would pull me into the world of sponsorships, competitions, and social media frenzy. A world where Beckett Steele is front and center. I’m not cut out for that kind of pressure, and taking it on could ruin the sport I love. Am I willing to risk it if it means getting closer to Beckett?
Ali is a USA Today Bestselling author of sports romance. She has always loved to read, especially when there's a happily ever after, but found that there weren't enough books out there featuring girl athletes. So, she decided to work on that. Like the heroines in her books, Ali is an athlete, with running and skiing her favorite sports these days. Ali hails from Vermont and now lives in her own happily-ever-after in Colorado with her husband, two sets of twins, and golden retriever Pancake. When she's not pursuing an outdoor adventure, Ali's less healthy passions include ice cream, coffee, and beer.

I love the idea of this book, the plot had me intrigued... but now I don't think I would continue reading this series if it's not a skateboarding theme. Sometimes it did remind me of the After series but without the toxicity, I don't know why.
Really not thrilled with this author right now. I picked this book because it seemed like a cute read, basically a pallet cleanser. Turns out this author did what so many do these days and didn’t warn that it ended on a cliffhanger. I don’t get it, this was basically a cute “fluff” piece type of story. It’s definitely not the gripping plot, angst ridden kind of story that leaves you desperate for the next installment. My irritation with the author is on principle, because honestly at the end I found myself not really caring what happens next...
Oh my gosh, Ali! Your books keep getting better and better! I love Jordan so much. She’s so put together and mature but so almost naive at the same time. And Beck. Swoon. I don’t want to say more because I don’t want to give spoilers. Wow. I devoured this one in around 3 hours and I’m already craving book 2.
College freshman, Jordan Slattery, is far from her small hometown in Connecticut for the very first time and living her dream. She has specifically chosen the quaint California college she is attending because it is located in a beachside town which is a haven for pro and wannabe-pro skateboarders, with its abundance of amazing skateparks.
Jordan is an extraordinary skateboarder who has skated since early childhood for her own personal joy. She has never considered competing against anyone but herself and her own lofty standards, because she assumes that the harsh realities of competitions will inevitably destroy her love of the sport for its own sake.
Jordan avoided dating in high school after an awful experience with a ghastly first kiss four years ago. After that, she limited her social life to her two best friends back home. As an extreme introvert, she has never felt lonely while spending the vast amount of her time outside of school with only her trusty skateboard for company. But suddenly at college, all that fulfilling freedom and independence fly out the window. Her bubbly roommate and her roommate's two longtime best friends, who live down the hall in the same dorm, enthusiastically embrace Jordan into the warmly affectionate folds of their close circle of camaraderie.
As if the surprisingly pleasant novelty of wildly extroverted girlfriends isn't overwhelming enough, yet another shocking social anomaly arrives out of the blue at the crack of dawn soon after her arrival at college. While checking out a famous skatepark located a few miles from her dorm, Jordan successfully performs a 540, a pro-level aerial trick where both the skater and her board spin one and a half rotations in midair. Unfortunately, shortly after completing this colossal feat, she takes a major tumble during a lesser effort and is shocked to discover herself being fussed over by none other than Beckett Steele, a skateboarding world champion. Jordan wonders for a moment if the blow she took to the head has caused her to hallucinate, because Beck is her idol. She admires him more than any skateboarder in the world, and she's had a crush on him for years.
In spite of the minor concussion Jordan learns she is suffering from—after Beck rushes her to an urgent care facility—it is instantly apparent to her that there is a mutual, explosive attraction between herself and Beck. But when she admits when he asks her age that she is not quite 18, compared to his much more mature age of 25, she is hurt when he immediately backs off.
Beck feels like a pervert for longing to date a girl so much younger than himself and is determined to shore up his weak resistance to her allure by staying far away from her. But unfortunately for his sacrificial attempt to protect Jordan from himself, it's a small world in town for skaters of her caliber. Within only a few days, his entire closest circle of friends as well as his 15-year-old sister, all of whom are fellow skateboarders, strike up an acquaintance with Jordan, whose phenomenal talent they greatly admire. These mutual connections make it impossible for Beck to avoid Jordan and excruciatingly difficult to continue to resist the overwhelming desire he has to be with her.
This is the first book in what is projected to be a series of four books about this delightful romantic pairing of two fabulously talented athletes. I love young-adult and new-adult romance novels in which the heroine is a brilliant athlete and, even better, when the heroine and hero are champions at the same sport. Ali Dean excels at including both of these fan favorites in her sports romances, and that is definitely the case in this terrific novel.
Before reading this book, my only personal experience of skateboarding was a terrifyingly out-of-control plummet down a steep hill at the age of 15 on a neighbor boy’s skateboard, which very nearly ended in disaster and left me with a permanent fear of ever going near a skateboard again. However, Ali Dean is so talented at writing exciting action scenes involving female sports prodigies, and she does such an outstanding job portraying Jordan’s brilliance at skateboarding, that I had a ball vicariously experiencing her thrill-a-minute, solo skating, as well as her wild, tandem rides with Beck.
This book is written from the dual point of view of both Jordan and Beck, and I myself very much prefer this approach in a romance novel. It allows the reader to intimately know and understand the hero, and Beck is absolutely a hero worth getting to know.
Jordan is a very inexperienced virgin, but this book, thankfully, does not involve the overused romance trope of the "manwhore and the virgin." Beck is not at all promiscuous or disrespectful of women. I adored that about him. Though there is no sexual activity between the two of them beyond one very hot, brief, make-out session in this, the first book in a slow-burn series, I would label this novel more PG-13 than G-rated. The kissing gets quite intense, and there is some blue language and underage drinking in the story as well. However, all of these things are quite mild compared to the X-rated content of the average college romance.
There are many delightful subcharacters in this book, but the female characters are truly noteworthy. The 15-year-old skater girls who become Jordan's friends are particularly lovable, and every scene they are in is a real treat.
I blasted through this book within hours, so enthralled with Jordan and Beck that I could not stand to put it down. I am avidly anticipating the upcoming books in this exciting series, and I highly recommend this first book.
3.5 Stars Brazen Rush was a quick, pleasant read and I enjoyed the skateboarding aspects quite a bit - love the idea of the heroine being great at a sport dominated by males. She has an insta-attraction encounter with the hero, who is already a pro skateboarder. A good portion of the book is spent on the heroine's inexperience and interpersonal communication issues that seem more suited to a tween experience than someone turning eighteen at college, but it is explained that those kinds of things were not important to her previously. Under normal circumstances I think I have so outgrown that kind of story/heroine that I wouldn't be able to enjoy it, but with the real problems in the world right now (we are in the midst of the COVID-19 crisis in the US) it was kind of a relief to read about silly, not real problems for a little bit. I am intrigued by a couple of conflicts that came in toward the end of the first part, and since the story just ends it left me eager to read part two to see what happens next.
To be honest, I have never liked skateboarding it never really interested me. The way that Ali explained it made me invested in the story more than I thought I would. Ali your books just keep getting better and better, they are always engaging and at times on the edge of my seat. For not being that into skateboarding, I liked the duel pov’s. What I have noticed from the books that I have read by Ali is that is always has a strong female lead and Jordan is no different. She is keeping her skateboarding a secret. Wellll that is until there is a video that gets surfaced with a mystery girl. In light that she meets Beck, he is already a celebrity in the skate world and takes and interest in Jordan. The connection they have is truly undeniable. I absolutely love this book I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book.
Brazen Rush is the first book in an all new series by Ali Dean. I love Ali’s sport romances, mainly because she writes about sports that aren’t common when it comes to romance novels.
Jordan is a skateboarder and a pretty amazing one. She is someone that other women and young girls can look up to in the skating world. She may be young, but her maturity level is beyond her age. She just loves skating, she doesn’t care about the fame and fortune that can come with it. Beck, well its hard not to love him. He is the guy all the girls want when it comes to the skating world. He is drawn to Jordan, he is fascinated by her, but he is conflicted about his feelings for her, especially when it comes to the difference in their ages. I loved the chemistry the had throughout the story.
The dynamic between Beck, Griffin and Jordan is interesting and I can’t wait to see where it goes as this series progresses. With this being the first book in the series it does end on a little cliffhanger. Brazen Rush is another great book by Ali Dean!
Felt like a blew through this one! I’m so glad I got the box set because that cliffhanger would have been tortuous!!!
What can I say - it’s a nice change of pace to read about a college freshman skater girl who doesn’t need to save the world or stop a war. She’s literally just figuring out her feelings for Beck (hot skater boy #1) and lowkey Davis (hot surfer boy). Hey man, not mad 😆 light drama and big feelings lol.
Rating 4.5 stars. I truly enjoy reading Ali's stories because she creates heroines that are strong and kicka$$ at their sport (and the fact that they are even interested in and participate in a sport!). I always get interesting tidbits about different sports from each of her books, which I love. Then you put a romance in there......that's an A+++++. Jordan and Beckett have a bigger age gap than any of the other couples of Ali's so far, and Beck's anxiety regarding that age gap may lose him his chance with Jordan. May can't come soon enough so I can get my hands on the next book to see what happens between Jordan, Beck, and Davis!

I’m a huge fan of Ali Dean’s books and Brazen Rush did not disappoint. In this first book of the Brazen series we meet Jordan, a young college freshmen, who just moved across the country to a town that is well known for its skateboard scene, which is Jordan’s passion.
After hitting up some local skate parks, an online video surfaces showing a “mystery girl” completing a difficult trick and an unwilling Jordan is suddenly pushed into the limelight of the Skating World. Being away from home for the first time, Jordan has to navigate meeting new friends, getting attention from boys and some new found fame with her skateboard skills.
In true book 1 of a series fashion, this book spends a lot of time introducing us to the main players and the world where the story takes place - skateboarding in California. Jordan is a caring, feisty girl who is very loyal and mature for her age. She befriends some slightly wild but sweet girls that help bring her out of her shell a little. I love the interactions with her new girl friends! We also get an intro into some of the major male players in the skateboard world, who Jordan has admired from afar. Jordan starts getting a lot of attention from these guys and she has to decide what type of relationship she wants with each of the guys.
The story ends on a cliff hanger (obvs) so we have to wait until book 2 (Brazen Steele) to see what happens next. Thank goodness it releases soon so we don’t have to wait too long! ❤️
ABSOLUTELY LOVE this book!!!! Ali’s books are always top notch but man this book! Jordan may actually be my favorite female character of Ali’s ever. Brazen Rush pushes us head first into the skateboarding world and I’m addicted. I can’t get enough.
I have been an Ali Dean fan for a long time. It seems like every series she writes is better than the last. I am only one book into this four book series and I LOVE IT! I absolutely love these characters. Jordan is so awesome. I am constantly surprised by the way Ali Dean can write all these strong and different women characters. Jordan is so different because unlike many of our other favorite sport ladies, she has no idea how great she really is. I can not wait to see her shine as we follow her story. Beck is so lovable already, and I am excited to see how his story unfolds.
This story is just the beginning of Jordan rising to skateboarding fame, her time in college and her time with skateboarding legends Beckett Steele and Griffin Perry. Next we will see where Jordan and Beckett's story goes! That cliffhanger has me anticipating the next book!!
I received an ARC of this book and I am leaving a voluntary review.
This was different from her other books, by far. I love the new complications this couple faces and am excited to see how this play out. This was quite enjoyable reading out on the beach, being in a similar setting. I am excitedly awaiting the next book.

Ali Dean just “landed the bolts” with this book. It’s her best yet. Dean has magnified her potential. Brazen has skated its way into my heart. Jordan is a strong-willed, shy girl, who wants to keep her skateboarding close to her heart. Skateboarding is an escape for her and she doesn’t want it to be tainted by critiques, competitions, and social media. Beck is a celebrity in the skating world. He becomes enamored with Jordan and her skating skills. The sparks between them could light up a city. I was hooked from the first page. This sports romance will leave you enamored with the characters and cursing Dean’s name with the cliffhanger. I can’t wait for the rest of this series. It’s going to be gnar-gnar! I’m leaving a review of my honest opinion after receiving a free copy.
I love Ali Dean's books. Brazen Rush was great. Jordan is a college freshmen and her passion is skateboarding. In her first time at a skate parks, an video of her goes viral of this mistery beauty doing awe tricks. Then we meet Beck, a 25 yeard old pro staker. He's captivaded by her freshness. Their chemistry is undenaible. Between the age difference, her mature but innocent attitude and and his inability let her go makes this book so good!
Ali Dean has done it again. This is the first book of this series and I’m dying to get the next book. Jordan is an up and coming female skateboarder going to college. There she meets Pro skateboarder Beck and they have instant chemistry. Beck is several years older then her and has many commitments between school and his skate-boarding career. He try’s to fight his feeling for her and stay away from her. Will Beck go for what he wants before it’s too late?
Ali Dean’s books tend have have strong female leads that are kick ass in their chosen sports. This book is no different. I love how not only are her female leads strong, competitive, and passionate, but also vulnerable. This story, like her others, sucked me right in and had me wanting more by the end. Highly recommended!
I love all of the stories from Ali and this was no exception. As you come to expect from one of her books the storyline was well mapped out with great characters. Really well written and a joy to read.
The whole inexperienced heroine thing gets old! I’m tired of reading this type of book, but it seems that’s all authors know how to write in this category.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ REVIEW: Brazen Rush (Brazen Series Book 1) by Ali Dean.... After reading this author's Defiance Falls Series a few weeks ago I couldn't wait to read her upcoming Brazen Series. I was blessed with an ARC of book 1, BRAZEN RUSH, and I devoured it. I had to force myself to stop reading at 84% because it was 4:30am and my eyes just wouldn't cooperate anymore. Jordan is a female surrounded by guys in the male dominated sport of skateboarding. I laughed so many times at some of her sassy spitfire remarks. She holds her own against the guys and earns respect from them before they even know her name. She has an innocence to her, yet she also has that "wise beyond her years" feel about her views on life. Beckett is a pro skateboarder, who is taking time off to finish college. Beckett and Jordan have a sizzling chemistry. His past experiences and future obligations have him running away from that magnetic pull, but when he changes his mind will it be too late. Be sure to grab your copy on April 10th!
The cliffhanger KILLED me, but at least the planned time between books isn't too horrible of a wait. Can't wait to see how this story continues in the next book.
Ali Dean always has relatable and honest characters. Jordan and Beck do not disappoint. Both are mature in some ways and figuring out themselves and life in other ways. I didn’t think I’d love it as much as her other books because I’m not familiar with Skateboarding world at all, but as always she develops characters in a way that are relatable, honest and unique. In book 1 you get introduced to them and their friends and I’m really looking forward to reading their journeys. I’m so ready for book 2!!

Ali Dean has done it again. She did an excellent job with Brazen Crush. Perfect for young adult romance readers and those who enjoy YA. She gets you loving the characters right from the beginning. This book does leave a big cliff hanger which is okay since book 2 will be out quickly.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Brazen Rush had me googling skateboarding moves. Ali Dean has this way of writing that makes me (someone who's very lazy when it comes to any form of physics activity) want to get up and try out the sport she's writing about. I also love how mature and kick ass her characters almost always are, and Brazen Rush was no exception. I love how Jordan's naivety did not make her a pushover. I also love her supportive friend circle. We need more female friendships in the world. The plot was interesting with just the right amount of drama, but it didn't move fast enough. At the end of the entire book, I did not feel like enough had happened.
With the whole pandemic situation going on, I haven't really been feeling up to reading. But Brazen Rush was different. I flew through it and it made me forget all of the craziness. For that reason itself I would recommend this book.
I really enjoyed this book. At first I thought it would be a love triangle, but I am so happy it is not. I really enjoyed all of the characters in the book, even some of the side characters. I gave 4 stars because, for the main male character Beck being 25, he sometimes acted like he was only 18 or 19. It was a nice read and did give me some of those butterflies new relationships sometimes give. I look forward to reading book 2 in hopes that Beck starts to become more open and honest and Jordan loses some of her "innocence." While having innocent young characters can be refreshing sometimes it can be over done. Overall I really liked the book and I definitely will read the next one when it comes out because I do feel invested in the characters.

Everything I have read by Ali Dean has been amazing. Brazen Rush is no different.
Not surprisingly, this is a sports romance. I like that it revolves around skateboard. I’ve never read a skateboarding romance and I only ever mainly see basketball, football, and baseball romances. So this was a nice change.
I loved Jordan’s character. I love that she’s not afraid to be herself and that she doesn’t let any one peer pressure her into doing what she doesn’t want to. I also liked that she not so in your face but also not really shy either.
Anyone else kind of want this to be RH? I mean Beck, Griffin, and Taylor....maybe even Davies....hello hotness!
Overall, I really enjoyed Brazen Rush and I can’t wait for Brazen Steele!
gahhhhhhh Ali Dean! You kill me! I loved Brazen Rush!!! This was such great read. I loved the storyline and the characters. The chemistry between Jordan and Beckett was off the charts. The way they officially met gave me butterflies and I can just tell that their story is going to be one I never get over!! Plenty of angst but minimal over the top drama but one kick ass FMC!! Cannot wait for the next book!!!! **arc received in exchange for honest review
This is another example of how good a college romance can be. You have Beck Steele an older college boy and an experienced pro-skater. Then you have Jordan Slattery a college freshman who lives skateboarding. The sparks flew between the two of them from the time they met. The only drawback for me is that this book ended to soon.
Ali Dean is my go to for sports romance, and she doesn’t disappoint. Brazen Rush is set in the male dominated skateboarding world, and I love that. Jordan is a bit of a loner and an undiscovered talent, who is about to be a breakout star, factor in a little older hottie world champion named Beckett Steele, and you have a sizzling hot sports romance! Awesome book, I can’t wait for the second one !
