**** 4 Cranky Stars ****

The Return of the Prodigal Son
The Cranky gossip columnists have a scoop for you!

Arturo King, the front man for the band The Nights, and carrying more baggage than Donald Trump’s hairdresser, is playing at the place where it all started. That’s right: The Round Table.

King, the legendary womanizer and secret love child of Ingrid Tintagel and Locke Uther, stands to inherit the multi-billion dollar label of Camelot Records. Here’s hoping he can keep his shareholders as happy as he does the ladies!

Rumor has it!

Well… it appears the scandalous rogue, Arturo King, has a new lover: none other than Guinevere DeGrance, daughter of Leo DeGrance.

Yes, that Leo DeGrance: King’s mentor and sponsor. It’s a bit “Flowers in the Attic” or “Game of Thrones”, but hey! No judgments.

Guinie is a cello-playing novice, who missed out on a place with the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra. I guess Daddy’s strings only stretch so far. We’re sure, however, that rock’s most eligible bachelor will be a good consolation prize.

How serious is serious you ask? Put away your lipstick, ladies. Rumor has it, Arturo has already taken her to meet his family at his luxurious hideaway: Avalon.

It’s love!
It seems the King has found his Queen. Arturo King and Guinevere DeGrance go from strength to strength. Questions are being asked about the speed of this relationship, but no one can deny it’s a supernova!

Still, we are wondering how King will cope with rumors of a former liaison between his sweetheart and band mate, Lansing.

We all know Arturo doesn’t like to come second. Actually, according to many women he does, but that’s a whole different conversation.

That was unexpected!

Scandal! Big scandal! This is more exciting than Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner’s entire marriage, Charlie Sheen’s drunk-tweets, and anything ‘desperate for attention’ Madonna has done in the last decade. Guinevere DeGrance got into some trouble at a nightclub and ended up going home with one of Arturo’s biggest rivals.

Word is, the rock star is furious, but the big scoop? It wasn’t King that recaptured his damsel in distress, but former “we’re just good friends”, Lansing.

What just happened?
Now, this is something you can stick your sword into!

Unconfirmed, but sources close to Arturo King are saying he’s been in an accident. From the Strange Files, the rock star has disappeared and so has his long-term advisor, Mure Linn.

Sources are also whispering about the fate of Camelot Records, betrayals, unconventional family relationships, secret love children, and problems in King’s relationship with Guinevere DeGrance.

All we can say is if King and Mure Linn have conjured up a disappearing act, then the award for ‘drastic measures in a break up’ goes to King.

Watch this space. The story continues.

I received a copy of the book from the author in exchange for an honest review and let preface this by saying, this is my FIRST time reading this author. No earthly idea who she is, or where she cometh from, but I will DEF be following bc I DRANK that kool-aid
I don't know what to say about this book.
I know I need to review it, blah, blah blah.
This book. I know wont be for everyone. However..........I kind of have a thing for literature, so SUE me. But honestly, I don't care. bahaha. It's not about you. It's about me. hee, hee
I LOVED EVERYTHING about this book. It was perfect. First, I was a lil thrown off by the names,(just a lil bitty bit) but honestly it was just unreal how well it was written.
Arturo was HAWT rockstar with a sordid past and questionable beginning in life. Guinevere, or Guinie, is the beautiful, untainted daughter of someone important to the story(yeah, I am NOT big into providing spoilers, so just read the damn thing......too much? uh, no......mkay moving on)....Guinie is struggling to find her way in life and Arturo is the womanizer that was just ready for the right girl to come along.(In real life, it sucks when you're with the guy and he isnt ready, but when he's ready....OH MAN!! What a treat for the girl after you, because you have done some prepping.........but, I digress)

The way the story flowed was seamless. The characters were old AND new, beautiful and flawed and incredibly well written. The love story was beautiful, passionate and unforgettable.(Hey, the sexy time didn't suck either) hee, hee.

Listen, to me the story just worked and showcased the author's unequivocal talent. The ability to be able to take a story and flip it, make it different while still maintaining it's original purity, is unparalleled. I have not read anything like this, and have not see it done. Yes, I know that people "recreate" fairy tales or Romeo and Juliet all the time. This wasn't that. This was just different.

Every once in a while, you read THAT story that you know will stay with you. You read THAT story that blows you away. You read THAT story that you want EVERYONE to read. THAT story that you NEED to talk about.......yeah, this is it for me. Legend of Arturo King was just beautiful, flawless. I honestly don't know if it's because I love the classics, but I feel this should BE a romantic classic that people read. I hope people aren't thrown off by the unconventionality of the story.
Now, WHEN THE HELL DOES THE STORY CONTINUE!!! I need more!!!

I must admit that the idea of a remix of the tale of King Arthur and his knights of the round table intrigued me. I love reading an old tale from a fresh perspective. And Dunbar nailed it!! Her writing style is crazy unique and I love how she wove historical facts into modern times. And with a mischievous twist. It was a little hard to keep up with the name changes, but thankfully I caught on quickly and it didn't deter me from enjoying this book.

Arturo King was such a whore lol. But I was pleasantly surprised with how quickly he fell for Guinevere. They were so sweet together and through their union we got to see the man be hind the music. The man behind the rock-God image. And I liked what I saw. There were some intense moments and that ending (or cliffhanger) was one of them. What is going to happen to Arturo? And Guinevere? Please tell me she remains loyal to him cuz I just can't take the drama. Although... I am a fan of Lansing Lotte. He was such a sweetie pie and really was a knight in the way he was there for Guinnie. Well I'm going to continue with this series and hopefully find the answers to my questions.

There are spoilers ahead.

This was a book I was seriously looking forward to. I love King Arthur legend and was really interested in seeing how it played out in a modern day story. My initial reaction was concern that I was going to get tied up in comparing other stories details to her version of them. But that was not my problem.

First off I am not a fan of pining. The H immediately tells us the song he is singing is about a girl he met and had a one night stand with. He couldn't stop thinking about her. That was 8 years earlier. He made it sound like he has never seen her since. Then we find out he found her 4 years later and interestingly he can't stand her and thinks she's evil. Can't say more about this person without giving major spoiler. Present time he takes the h to his place and the ex is there. Still indicating he doesn't want or like her. They also have a son he doesn't want or like. I'm really confused because he first indicated he was still hung up on her then later states he can't stand her. But then Arturo makes a statement about her wanting the room next to his so she can sneak in and have a night like 8 years ago. He states he was almost tempted to put Guinevere in a different room. Almost! WTF! Arturo obviously has some dementia because he pines, hates, almost tempted, hates again. If you almost moved the girl you openly claim to want it's time to reevaluate what you want. But the final straw for me was Arturo's treatment of his son. He is just mean and he literally threw a tantrum when Guinevere chose to spend time with his son and not him. No thank you. I also have to say I'm confused as to Guinevere's sexual history. She indicates she lost it to a guy in college. Indicating it was a one night stand. But then she talks to Arturo like she is a virgin. She never used the v word but it was alluded to it. If anyone claims I don't know what I'm talking about...don't bother because I have located these contradicting pages. It was not an easy feat considering there is no X-ray for this book. But I went back and looked because things were not adding up to earlier things I read.
In regards to Arturo's behavior some won't care or can over look it. I couldn't. The story seemed interesting enough but it's hard to read a book when you hate the H. DNF

"Caress it in passion or clutch it in lust."

I'm sitting here a day after finishing this book, trying to put into words my thoughts and feelings about it. The Legend of Arturo King is not your typical rockstar story. It's a tale taken from the Legend of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table, but given a new and modern twist. It's compelling, it's intriguing, it was strangely addicting.

Arturo King is the lead singer of The Nights, a legend with the ladies, and a man searching for his true purpose. But this just isn't his story, it's also Guinevere's. She's fresh out of college, the sheltered daughter of one of The Night's biggest supporters, and at a crossroads in her life. A "chance" encounter between the 2 starts them on a path of friendship, discovery, and ultimately love. But with every good love story, and that is what this book really is at heart, there are factors conspiring to work against the 2 lovers. There are secrets being kept, lies being told, feelings being suppressed.

There is a lot packed into this book- Arturo's family history, his personal past, the stories surrounding the band members. It's all woven together in one seamless tale that will captivate you and leave you wanting, and needing, more. This is a book that I did not expect to have a hold on me like it did...I went in expecting a different type of story and came away completely mesmerized.

Being a fan of all kinds of literature, the thought of a modern day King Arthur’s Court story intrigued me! As I started to read The Legend of Arturo King my mind went right back to my childhood, remembering some of my favorite characters. So, history and rock stars, two of my favorite things combined and OFF WE GO!

Arturo and Guinevere (aka Guinie) come from the same world yet they are worlds apart. He’s the hot, cocky, panty melting rockstar and she is the daughter of a local music mogul Leo DeGrance, who runs the Round Table – the local hotspot for up and coming talent. Guinie is off limits to say the least.

“She wasn’t interested, and that never happened to me. Women were always interested.” ~Arturo~

“Arturo King would never be interested in me, for me. I was Guinie.” ~Guinevere~

The two are brought together in an unsuspecting way. Their friendship turns into more as they learn each other’s pasts and secrets. The slow build kept me itching for more and wondering where things were going. I love how LB Dunbar weaves their story and that of their friends and families. I was always thinking of the correlation to King Arthur and it only made me want more.

This is the type of story that you have to read and experience for yourself, don’t want to give too much away!! Just know that The Legend of Arturo King is #SchmexyJeseyApproved!!

"Sharing? We don't share. I would never share, and I especially would never share you." My tone gave away my rising anger. "Look," I drew a deep breath before I continued, "the past couple of nights have been really special to me. And last night? Last night was everything to me. I don't want to make light of it, and I don't want you to make light of it either. I'm only sharing you with me." ~ Arturo King

I was completely in love with Arturo King even before he spoke these words to Guinevere. The Legend of Arturo King isn't your typical rock band romance story. If you haven't recognized the play on words yet, Arturo King....King Arthur...you'll get it soon enough.

I have to admit I remember very little of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table and I was a drop apprehensive when I started this book. A little of the legendary story is all I remembered from my high school days. But, L.B. Dunbar puts a fresh spin on the legend and you will love this story even if like me, you're memory of British Literature is not so great.

Arturo King is the lead singer of the legendary Nights. The band is also made up of Lansing Lotte, Perkins Vale, and Tristan Lyons. See the similarities now? Well if you don't, The Nights are playing a gig at the Round Table. A club where Leo DeGrance the owner finds and nurtures new bands.

At the Round Table, The Nights are playing the song that made them famous. A song that now pains Arturo whenever he has to sing it. When it wrote the song it meant something to him. Now (and you'll find out why) it means something completely different. At first glance, Arturo is like many of the rock band characters who we've come to love. He's gorgeous to look at. Tousled dark hair, mesmerizing dark eyes and some interesting ink all over his beautiful body. Check out the sword tatt (Excalibur, maybe?) which starts at his shoulder and ends at the knuckle of his middle finger.

Anyone, yes Arturo has all the bad boy rocker traits, too many women, too much liquor and indulged by the masses. But there's more to Arturo then that. The circumstances of his birth and upbringing are the stuff legends are made of. He was born from an unwanted sexual encounter and raised by two men who were not his birth father. Mure Linn is one of the men who raised Arturo. He is his mentor and confidante and I don't like him. Once again see the similarity Mure Linn (Merlin)? Mure thinks Arturo is bound for greatness and will basically do anything for this to happen.

The real story is when Arturo meets (or remeets) Guinevere DeGrance. Yes she is Leo's daughter and even though Arturo has seen her in the past, the now twenty one year old beauty catches his eye and Arturo is intent on making her his.

And this is where I fell in love with Arturo. He is more than beautiful to look at. Even though his life is not the norm and he is a bit spoiled, his intentions to Guinie always honorable. The problem is Guinie knows his reputation and even though he never does anything to her to deserve it, she is always suspicious of his motives.

Their courtship takes place at Arturo's country home called Camlann. Much of it is sweet and consists of Arturo coaxing the very sheltered Guinevere out of her shell. It is at Camlann where Guinie learns of one of Arturo's many secrets. Their innocent walks and talks turn into a full blown, very sexy love between the two of them. Arturo and Guinevere have chemistry that is off the charts hot. Because she is sheltered in so many ways, Arturo is her teacher in the ways of love and romance. When Arturo and Guinie finally make love...it is exactly that, making love.

The writing in The Legend of Arturo King is beautiful. Everything that came from Arturo's mouth is just incredibly swoon worthy. He is well aware of the man whorishness from his past and spends a lot of time telling Guinevere that is his past and she is his future. When Arturo tells Guinie "You are my once, You are my future." I melted into a puddle.

There's definitely more to this story than the romance. Arturo has many secrets and Guinie is still trying to figure out her place in the world. Then there's Mure Linn who has his own agenda and it's not hard to figure out what that is. There are definitely some shady goings on at the Round Table, but you need to read the book to find out.

If you know the actual story of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table I'd love to hear your take on this version. I will share again, I loved it. And I find myself a drop obsessed with Arturo (lucky Guinevere).

Two more things. There's a cliff hanger. I'm not going to give you the build up because you need to know the whole story. Next, I know there are going to be at least two more books and I CAN'T WAIT FOR THEM!!

I am obviously giving The Legend of Arturo King a five lip smack review. I generally always find myself immersed in the books I read, but this was a special book. One I think I'll probably go back to and read over and over again.

So much infodumping. And it's very scattered, like one thing has absolutely nothing to do with the other, but they're mentioned as if one is a natural progression into the other.

"I'm the lead singer of a band. I like tacos. Leo's not here tonight, he said something about his daughter or whatever? I wasn't paying attention. They say I look like I'm orgasming when I sing this part. The ladies love me and I grew up in a tough neighborhood, but sometimes I just want to feel numb from it all and now it's time for the guitar riff because apparently this is a ten minute song. Ooh, pretty lady, I want her."

This is absurd.

The Legend of Arturo King was an awesome read filled with all the things we love, romance, lust, emotional angst, a plot that turns one way and goes another and the end will leave you sitting there with your mouth opened in surprise-it does not end in any way you could see coming!

Arturo King is a legend. in bed, know as a chivalrous lover, he is the lead singer of the group The Nights and everyone loves them! He got his start at The Round Table in New York. Muir Linn is his mentor- who has been there for him when he did not have a father's help, a mother from old money who did not claim him, until his real father died when he was 18, and inherited a fortune, along with a record company. Arturo has pretty much been raised with the help of Muir and the man who owns the Round Table, Leo DeGrance. Leo has only one daughter, who he has raised alone since she was a little girl, and he has raised her away from all the rock stars that have entered the halls of his club over the years. Guinie is the perfect hostess, and she has loved Arturo from afar since she was a teenager, but he never knew it.
Arturo now has noticed Guinie, however, the last concert he gave at the Round House he saw her, and he made it his business to follow her! I do not want to say too much more and ruin this book, but this is the story of Arturo and Guinie, and how Arturo's life and wants change when he meets her. How he becomes a better man, and how his nurturing of Guinie makes her blossom into an even more desirable woman.

This book has a cliffhanger, but it is not what you will expect to happen, so do yourself a favor and read this book, it will go fast, so give yourself time to read and enjoy it like I did. I can't wait to read the next books in this series, as I know they will have to be as good as this one!

I gave this book 5***** stars and look forward to more by this author!

The legend of King Arthur and his Knights of the roundtable retold for the modern day.

Meet Arturo King, and his band ‘The Nights’, Lansing Lott (Lancelot), Perkins Vale (Percival), and Arturo’s mentor Mure Linn (Merlin). They play in an underground club called The Round Table, owned by Leo DeGrance. Everything changes one night when Arturo sees Guinevere, Leo’s daughter, and he’s captivated by her.

We all know the legend don’t we? Well this is one amazing twist on it! It’s the first book in a long time that has kept me up all night wanting to finish it! LB Dunbar does a brilliant job with the play on words names, and the retelling of this old classic. Arturo is a womaniser at the start, with a string of conquests to his name, but when he meets Guinie everything changes.

She’s a classical beauty, classically trained in music, playing the cello, and Arturo doesn’t think that she’s at all interested in him. He’s a rock star, able to have any woman he wants, with a reputation as a ‘chivalrous lover’, Guinie thinks that he wouldn’t possibly be interested in her. Pushed together one seemingly chance event, the pair’s interest in each other sparks, and it isn’t long before lust, desire, and attraction start to take over.

I loved this book, the chemistry between the two main characters is intense, and the story of their blossoming romance was just beautiful. His tenderness, his passion, his desire, his possessiveness. Her understanding of him, his family ties, and the better man that she knows that he can be.

This is a 5+star recommended read! I can’t wait for the next ones in the series!

This is my first book by author LB Dunbar. She is known for taking classic stories and giving them a modern twist. That being said, I couldn't wait to dive into The Legend of Arturo King and check it out for myself.

This book started off a little slow for me, however once I got into it, I was hooked. The Legend of Arturo King is a modern retelling of King Arthur. I knew some of what King Arthur's story was about, so I was excited to see where LB Dunbar would take us! This story takes you for an interesting ride. There's music, romance, deception, and lies. And I loved all the twists along the way. I was left wondering what the true motives were for certain characters. The writing was smart and kept me eager to find out how everything would play out.

I like Arturo and Guinevere right away. Arturo was sexy, successful, broody at times, and doesn't give up on what he wants. The perfect compliment to Guinevere, who was more reserved, innocent and still trying to find herself. They both frustrated me at times, but their chemistry was undeniable. I enjoyed watching their relationship grow and the path that it took.

Overall, I really did enjoy The Legend of Arturo King. I thought the story line was really unique and found the characters to be very enjoyable. It had everything that I look for in a good read and I can't wait to read the next book in this series!

I love the rockstar spin on the King Arthur tale. I've been a huge fan of those characters and to see them in such a different light was amazing.

The author did a great job of keeping a majority of the characteristics for all the major players and giving us a fresh take on the love and drama that they're so famous for.

Arturo King is the famous lead singer of the popular band, The Nights. Living the life of the typical rock stars, he's enjoying the comforts and perks that come with it.

Until one day, he sees the body of a woman that captivates him the very second he sets eyes on her. Her beauty and grace pulls him in and he's locked on her as it they've permanently been tethered to each other. But once he recognizes her as the son his his long time friend and a mentor, he reconciles that she's out of his reach. Until they spend some time together and he gets to know her and her beauty within. After that he's hooked and smitten.

Guinie has had a thing for the famous Arturo King since she was a teenager. She's he's a couple years older, hey neve ran in the same circles but due to the working relationship he had with her father, she was able to fangirl from afar while maintaining the poise and grace she was always expected to have.

Their tale of love is almost as old as time. King Arthur and Guinevere had a great love that has been told in a variety of ways and this story is definitely a story that joins its ranks, in my opinion.

I have a feeling this complete series is going to end up on my top faves!

RATING: 5 STARS

This novel quickly made it's way to being one of my favourites that I have had the chance to review so far and I am so glad I chose it as my challenge book for this week. This book had such a great storyline behind it and I absolutely loved it.

Arturo King is lead member of the band The Nights, along with his bandmates Lansing Lotte, Perkins Vale and Tristan Lyons. One night while playing at The Round Table an underground music mecca where they once got started he sees a vision in white and immediately wants to know more about the mysterious woman. Only she isn't as mysterious as he thought, she just happens to be the only daughter of the manager of The Round Table; Leo DeGrance and her name is Guinevere. Someone he's known distantly for years. She notices Arturo as well and the two begin a journey unlike anything I have ever read before.

The way the author tailored her tale so closely to the Arthurian Legends, something I have always been interested in, was absolutely fantastic. It was great to see the story played out in a modern way. This book leaves you with a doozey of a hangover that has me pulling my hair and officially waiting anxiously for the next book in the series.

An epic love story!
Arturo King is the sexy lead singer of the rock band The Nights who has an intriguing family history. Guinevere DeGrance is the beautiful daughter of the owner of The Round Table, the club where the band got its start. What started out as a walk through Central Park blossomed into a love affair for the ages.
This fantastic fairytale romance has plenty of passion, surprising revelations and teary-eye moments, It will captivate you from the start and take you on emotional roller coaster ride . All the characters are well developed and are loosely based on King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table, but with a cool rock star twist. The chemistry between Arturo and Guinie is sizzling with red hot love scenes. This story is definitely a must read. I absolutely loved this story & I can't wait for the next one!!

The Legend of Arturo King captured my attention from the very beginning until the very end. I absolutely loved the way LB Dunbar used King Arthur and the Knights of the Roundtable as inspiration for her story. For me, it added an additional level of familiarity and intimacy to each character! Positively brilliant and refreshing! Arturo, sexy, gorgeous, rockstar, falls for the beautiful, innocent, shy, Guinevere. Their attraction is instantaneous but complicated. As the story unfolds, you realize that it is wrapped in layers of mystery and secrets. The Legend of Arturo King will leave you breathless and so anxious for the next book. Definitely 5 awesome stars!

Great new twist on an old story.
I love the modern version of a legend. I wasn't sure what to think when I started reading, but I'm happy I did.
Arturo seems to be finding himself as much as Guinie is. I loved seeing all the pieces come together.
So many questions I want answers to and I know I'll find them in the rest of the series which I'll be reading.

My Once.
My Future.

Never did I think that those words would break my heart, but alas they have.

It is no secret that I absolutely adore LB Dunbar. From her first book Sound Advice to her third book Fragrance Free I have been hooked on her sweet, homegrown style of romance writing. So when I heard she was going in an entirely different direction with her new series I was a little leery. Excited to read it, but still leery because I wasn't sure that I could get past my predisposed idea of what her writing style should be, I should have known she wouldn't disappoint me.

When we first meet Arturo he is doing his thing as the lead singer and guitarist of his band The Nights, on stage at The Round Table, the underground rock bar his band got their start in. While he's singing his heart out and tons of female fans are screaming their heads off trying to get his attention in hopes they would be his, even if just for the night, he sees a vision in white across the room. Technically he really couldn't see her past the blinding stage lights so it was more or less that he sensed her, felt her, couldn't stop following her as she was the girl of his dreams. He just knew it.

When we first meet Guinevere (or Guinie as she is better known) she is standing in a corner in the back of her fathers underground bar, The Round Table completely mesmerized by the man on stage. The man that she has fantasized about for what seems like forever. The one man who didn't know she even existed. THE Arturo King, lead singer and guitarist of The Nights. Being that she is 4 years younger than him, somewhat of a loner and classically trained to play the cello, her and Arturo have never officially met. But she has admired him from afar. Her father has always sheltered her from that part of his life, never letting her get too close to any of the bands that he helped get started or even letting her in the bar when their was a band playing. He has also always had his own plans for her future. But what about what SHE, Guinie wants?? She wanted to get accepted into the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra so that she could get away from her fathers domineering ways and make a name for herself away from the DeGrance influence, but that was not to be.

What started out as an innocent walk in Central Park, that her father pushed her into, turned into a media hailstorm. What started out as an innocent kiss on a boat, on a lake, turned into the greatest love affair either of them would ever know. What started out as a concert for abused women turned into the most pain either of them would ever experience.

There's sex, drugs, alcohol and rock & roll in this book. This book ripped me apart emotionally, sitting her writing this I have tears forming for these two amazing characters. I literally am dying to get my hands on the next book in this series. LB you have managed to yet again leave me stunned and totally in love with fictional characters. Thank you for bringing Arturo and the rest of The Nights to us.

As I discussed before I am a complete book snob, it's not even really that, it's just I know what I like in a novel and I know what doesn't work for me. Rock stars fall into that iffy hit-or-miss category simply because any time I have delved into the world of rock gods I come out annoyed and bored from the tedium of groupies and drugs and heavy-laden angst. But to discover that L.B Dunbar who up until now has been the queen of tender-hearted romance reminiscent of Mia Sheridan's writing, was turning her hand to a much more raunchy and darker tale and one that took the legend of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table transforming it into an almost unrecognisable but astonishing modern day story I was beyond intrigued, in fact I felt rather nervous for her but that was my problem because the woman has created magic in a world about music and managed to make it look effortless. I managed to complete The Legend of Arturo King in one sitting, I had the leg cramp and caffeine jitters to prove it.

"I love you, Once." His voice was breathy as he said the words before we hung up.
"I love you Future."

The whole story was so well written and each detail and event and consequence was executed by what felt like an author who was about to publish her twentieth novel, not her fourth and in only a year at that. Not only was each character name and trait distinguishable and connected someway to King Arthur's legend but they're written in such a way that they burrow under your skin until you need to learn more about them, nurture them through the bad and sigh with happiness when it goes their way. Arturo- the quintessential womanising singer has his secrets and his negative not-so-attractive selfish side but it makes him fallible and real while his gorgeous face and body and rock star status elevate him into a book boyfriend legend especially after he learns the error of his ways, whereas Guinevere (my favourite name of all time) was such a sweet girl, she was caring, tender and likeable and a great leading lady who rather refreshingly was unafraid to express her sexuality and take charge in the bedroom when she had the notion to. As with any great story there are certain people and a timeline of events that occur to stir up the equilibrium giving us some terrific and dramatic scenes that will leave you on the edge of your seat. Once I got to the epilogue and realised where I was being left hanging I could have wept in frustration such was the power and pull of this novel. If is an absolutely fantastic foray into the darker side of the music industry and L.B Dunbar has done herself proud with this bad boy. Word perfect dialogue, brilliant drama and a bit of heartache, sensual sex and a beautiful romance ensure this to be a gem of a read.

I don't even know where to begin with this review, this book blew me away. Sadly for me, this is the first book that I've read from L.B. Dunbar, though her books have been on my e-reader for quite some time. It was smartly and cleverly written and the tale that she was able to tell was enchanting to say the least. There are multiple references to the story King Author (see the title) through the characters and some of the situations; just a more modern version. I got invested in the characters and the story from the get-go. The opening pulled me right in and I read furiously until there were no pages left and I still wanted more. It is told in a dual POV from both main characters. However, there isn't much overlap in the different views. It is more of a cause and effect type portrayal of events from one side and then the other.

The Legend of Arturo King, follows the story of Arturo and his band The Nights as they're about to set off on their world tour. Arturo is a bit disenchanted with his life at the onset. But when Arturo sets eyes upon Guinevere in the crowd, it as if his world stands still for a moment before it is righted on its axis. Things are rocky with them to say the least. Guinie is sweet and innocent and ready to find her own way in the world that has been dominated my music. However, when they both let the other in, they fall fast and hard. Their playfulness provided a lightness that was needed in the story. I really liked Arturo's transition from the start of the book. Guinie brought out a softer, calmer, more grounded side to him. I loved how he not only spoke of love, valor and honor but proved it through his actions. And he allowed her to flourish and find the footing she was so desperately searching for.

I thoroughly enjoyed the cast of secondary characters (and there were a lot of them). The relationships were realistic and it was fairly easy to follow all the connections between everyone. They only enhanced the likeability and relate-ability of both Guinie and Arturo. Everyone from Kaye, Murr, Lansing, Ana, Perkins and Lou played an important role in the development of the story as well as Arturo and Guinevere's relationship. Of course, with The Nights' fame, there is going to be jealousy and the haters come out of the woodwork to try and sabotage the good thing Arturo and Guinevere have going on. My heart was pounding and I was waiting with baited breath for the other shoe to drop. And when it did, allegiances were tested. Just as things were getting back on track for the couple, disaster strikes. Holy mother of cliffhangers. I absolutely can not wait to see what happens next for the whole gang. But more importantly what will become of Arturo and Guine's relationship...

Read and reviewed for Chicks Controlled by Books. 5 Stonking Stars
I took a huge risk requesting to review this for two reasons. The first being that unfortunately I am one of those readers that don't particularly gravitate towards books about Rockers, I don't often enjoy them. And secondly I have LB Dunbar's Sound Advice that I have struggled to finish reading. So I was interested to see if this would hold my attention and perhaps sway me. I can quite confidently say that LB Dunbar had me hooked by the 3rd page of the first chapter and I am so very glad I took this chance! I loved this book.
It is, by far, my favourite book of this year. In subject terms it's clever, really clever! I know the Legend of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table. It is whispered that Merlin, who is heavily associated with Arthur, lies burried along the banks of the River Tweed. A river I've walked along, swam in, fished on, a river I live not so far from. So yes, I know Arthur's legend well. I was really glad to have that knowledge whilst reading this, it gave the story so much more. LB Dunbar didn't try to recreate it but put her own twist on characters and events. It worked beautifully!
The words are positively lyrical, and I mean that in both a musical and a literary sense. There's something poetic in the way the words are woven that I often gave a little sigh at how they wrapped around my head. I see a growth in LB Dunbar, wether it's the story or the maturity of the author I have no idea. It just is! And the title is absolutely perfect for what this tale is. This IS the legend of Arturo King from his birth, to his name , to his music, to his love. I found myself swept up in a modern day tale of love and loss that I found breathtaking at times.
The characters are described in such a way that you know who they are from the old tales, and you know how they fit into the storyline. Everything just fits, but it's obscure enough for you to feel like you are reading a story in it's own right. The old world references scattered throughout the book gave it an almost nostalgic feel that settles into your bones and stays there long after you have finished reading.
There's no cliffhanger here, it may appear to the reader that there is. It's the perfect ending although it may not seem that way. I've purposefully not rehashed the story in my review as the synopsis speaks for itself. If you read anything this year please let it be this. It will hold your heart and your head and you will fall in love with the legend that is Arturo. Just simply amazing....

I was given an ARC by the author for an honest review.

I started this book after reading Colleen Hoover's latest book and I thought I probably would take a day or two before getting hooked due to that fact. Actually, it didn't and if I'm being honest if I read this prior to Colleen Hoover's book I would have taken longer to read hers. I was hooked from the first page for many reasons.

Reason One: The descriptions and details. L.B. Dunbar doesn't use the cliché and typical descriptions I've often seen in many romance books of all sorts. I was quite pleased to see a new way of body parts or even hair being described. Most rock star romances tend to go to the same details and descriptions for everything however, Ms. Dunbar chose to go a different way, a way in which it got me to want more and actually finish the book.

Reason Two: When you a read a rock star romance book you expect the typical- drugs, sex and rock 'n' roll. Yes, they were there but Ms. Dunbar added a couple twist to her story. She added kidnapping, an attempted rape scene and worst of all a cliffhanger (LOL). Cliffhangers are the worst. I don't think, to my knowledge, that I have read a rock star romance book that had a cliffhanger. So I was pissed this one did, LOL.

Reason Three: Arturo King. The New Hot, Badass Book Boyfriend. Enough Said. I absolutely loved this book. She goes through Arturo's background and how he got where he is now. When you get that much detail you have two kinds of people the people who feel it is to much and the people who felt it was needed. I felt the story wouldn't have been same or as good without it. To learn he was just naturally musically talented unlike his siblings who had lessons to gain their talent. To see his family history and learn about his childhood helped you see who he is as a man, you can't help but wish you were Guinevere.

Reason Four (the final reason: Guinevere. The name alone I loved. It's not the traditional female name being used. She, just like the rest of the book, wasn't your typical female. She could have been classified as off limits at one point. She had her own family history to surpass. Her dad being the guy all the bands want approval from. She was a caring, sweet, lovable girl. She is someone you would never expect to see be so sexually unafraid and to take charge, I know I never saw it coming.

Ms. Dunbar takes you on a ride to dark side of rock star romances but, there are no cookies with this darker side just a cliffhanger. She takes you where you have never been when you read rock star romance books. I can't want to read the next book.

I have to say it. This story slayed me. I was on edge the entire time I was reading, worrying and wondering how this tale would unfold. LB Dunbar has crafted a unique masterpiece with this book and my head is still reeling from the way she left things in anticipation of the next part of this series. The Legend of Arturo King is a modern retelling of the story of King Arthur. As a fan of the famous legend I was hesitant to see how elements of this story would be altered to fit within the confines of a modern romance. I was thrilled to find that LB has done an amazing job at translating this classic into a present day rocker love story. From the plot line to the characters, the heart of this legend shines through, but everything about this story remains relevant and fresh resulting in a book that is completely addicting and characters you can’t help but fall hard for.

Arturo is quite simply yummy and his true family lies in his band, Nights. LB Dunbar has taken great care in developing a sense of camaraderie and mutual respect and admiration amongst the band members. These inimitable bonds gave this story an added emotional depth that definitely sucked me into their world. Guinie’s personal journey over the course of this story was particularly stunning. I loved watching this innocent, sheltered, and naïve girl pave her own road. Arturo and Guinie have an explosive chemistry that LB expertly fueled along the way. These two can’t so much as look at each other without the world around them threatening to come crashing down. The lust and electricity between them was the perfect partner to their emotional connection, assuring that they would be an unforgettable couple.

It’s true that this story is much too fraught with turmoil and doubt to be properly told in just one book. In that regard, I’m very glad LB didn’t try to force an airtight ending to this book. I can’t imagine it would have done the epic love story of Arthur and Guinevere justice. I thought LB Dunbar did an exceptional job in making this story her own. She followed lore when crucial and strayed from the traditional interpretations when necessary to carry her story through and make it work for the modern day music scene. I’m excited to learn more about the rest of the band in the upcoming additions to this series and I’m desperate to put the pieces of this convoluted puzzle together to find out what is next for this incredible couple. If you like legends, fairytales and hot rocker book boyfriends, then The Legend of Arturo King should certainly be your next one-click!

~4 1/2 Stars~

Fantastic modern twist on the legendary King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table. I was hooked from the very first page! Arturo King is a rock legend with the world at his feet. He enjoys the best of everything and the company of many women. However, he never feels anything for the women he beds. All that changes when Guinevere DeGrace re-enters his life. She is the daughter of the man who gave him his first real break. But, Arturo never really paid attention to Guinie; she was 4 years younger than him. However, she has returned home from college, and when they see each other again, there is an instant pull toward one another. As with the legendary love story between Arthur and Guinevere, the romance between Arturo and Guinie is full of passion and danger.

While there is romance and some great steamy sex within the pages of this book, there is also intrigue and mystery. There are many players who are manipulating things behind the major players’ backs which may impact their newfound romance. I wasn’t ever really sure if they were good or bad intentions. BUT, the mystery kept the story intriguing for me and kept me turning the pages.

All the characters were well-written and well-developed, even the minor characters. Arturo and Guinie mature a lot throughout the book. Arturo seems self-centered and arrogant. However, he develops into a more caring individual who begins to put others’ needs before his as his relationship grows with Guinie. And, she is very unsure of herself at the beginning of the story, but he brings out her self-confidence, and she begins telling others what her feelings and needs are. I would be remiss if I didn’t mention what a great job Dunbar does of describing the different settings in the book. I could picture every single location where the two lovers were…from the city to the beautiful mansion overlooking the lake.

The story does end in a cliffhanger, but I wasn’t upset. It just made me anxious for the next book. While Dunbar retold the basic story of King Arthur, she made it her own, and she did a fantastic job. I highly recommend this book for anyone who likes a sexy, fairytale romance with a rockin’ modern twist! Loved it, and L.B., I need the next book TODAY!!!!!

After reading The Legend of Arturo King I am left speechless.
Arturo King, the legendary ladies man, the chivalrous lover and lead singer of The Nights. We are immediately thrown into Arturo’s world and want to be one of his many conquests. We see the passion he has for his music, but he feels like he is missing something.
This is where Gunie DeGrance comes in. The only daughter of the famous Leo Degrance, Guinie is told from a young age to stay away from the rock stars. That would be easy if a certain sexy lead singer wasn’t thrown in her path.
The relationship between Arturo and Gunie starts out slow but when they put the pedal to the metal, hold on tight because it is sure to be a fun ride. I love the way that LB draws out the encounters between Arturo and Guinie. It isn’t a wham bam kind of thing. We see why Arturo truly deserves the name The Chivalrous Lover. The transformation that Guinie undergoes is really beautiful. Arturo brings out a side of her that was hidden away for all these years. I feel that this story is as much a story of Guinie’s metamorphosis as it is Arturo’s .
Like many couples they have their ups and downs, but when you are with a rock star they are a little more extreme; a love child, long lists of conquests and paparazzi at every turn. Bravo to LB for making this a new kind of Rocker series. I usually stay away from rock star stories because I feel they are all the same; sex , drugs and rock’n’roll. LB delves deeper into the life of a rock star and shows their softer side. A softer side that may lead to Arturo’s downfall.
The only thing I will say about the ending is, well played LB, well played. She took us on this journey and put the breaks on when we least expect it. She left us wanting more and almost scratching our heads to wonder, what happened to our boy.
Although this story is based loosely on King Arthur, this is in no way just a sexy retelling of the classic tale. LB puts her own spin on it and does a fantastic job. This is a romantic love story that is made to stand the tests of time. The mixture of passion, love, joy heartache and suspense has left me wanting more, much more, from LB Dunbar and the rest of the boys in The Nights.

I received this book from the author for an honest review.

Every book by this author gets better and better!!!

I am sitting her after finishing this book and am not sure...it is 4 ot 5 stars. I am literally soooo just lost!! Please dont think lost in a bad way becasue the author did what she meant to do....she got us all messed in our own heads with this book......OK 5 stars it is....

Arturo is the Adam Levine of our time. His band is Maroon 5 ok...understand? Well imagine if your dad asks you to go for a walk with Adam..who says no to that right???? Who DOESNT like him right? Well our girl Guinne is forced to do just that. Guinne is not "wise to the word" like Arturo is. But he is fascinated by her. He cant stop thinking about her. He cant imagine a classy girl would want anything to do with him but ...he invites her to his house. They are gonna hang out and he hopes see where things go. Guinne is excited but can it be real? Arturo...THE Arturo wants to spend time with her???? Then the secrets start to rollin..Arturo's heritage, his ex girlfriend, his mom, and his other deep dark secret. Guinne takes it all in stride. We get to see she has a bit of a past with band member Lans who also went to school with Guinne. What is that past? We are not sure.....

Guine and Arturo go through alot of stuff to finally admit their love for each other. Arturo has found his one...and he will not let her go. The couple have major ups and downs with others trying to cause issues and family members scheming behind their backs but Guinne and Arturo will make it right?

The end of the book I was a mess of anxiety and stress. I was so confused and kinda wrecked by my reaction. I mean I was like "WHAT!" and "BUT BUT BUT ARTURO!!" and even "I. Cant.". I mean I was at 89% and KNEW the bad stuff was coming and almost didnt wanna finish cuz I dont want my Arturo hurt! I want him and Guinne happy...............Sweet Baby Jesus...this book......

Oh my! I loved this book! It's been awhile since I've read a book with a big cliffhanger that left me saying, OMG, how long do I have to wait for the next book? This book had me on the edge of my seat with all of the twists and turns and I found myself holding my breath as I read the final pages! WOW!

This is a modern day re-telling of the tale of King Arthur. I loved Arturo and Guinevere right from the beginning. Arturo is a sexy, confident rocker who always gets what he wants, yet feels empty, even though he has a different woman in his bed every night. They met when they were younger, but when they see each other several years later at the Round Table, their mutual interest in each other is ignited. Her father is the owner of the Round Table and the man that gave the Nights their big start. She is shy, innocent, and beautiful.

Once they eventually meet, their relationship starts to flourish.

"You aren't in the way, Guinie," I said softly stroking my thumb up and down her neck. "You might just be the way," I muttered quietly.

"Guinevere," I said on a sigh, forcing her to look up at me. "You are the most beautiful creature I've ever seen. You make me smile and laugh and write songs. You inspire me with your desire to be yourself and you motivate me to be a better man. You make me feel special, and not just because I'm a member of a band. I feel...I feel cherished. That's what you do for me."

And this book is filled with twists and turns and my emotions were scattered all over the place.

When our phone call ended, I wanted to go to him immediately. I suddenly had a bad feeling about the night to come, and that gut feeling I should have listened to because that night changed everything. .

OMG, I cannot wait for the next book in this series. It cannot come soon enough. I highly recommend this well-written, sexy fairy tale of a romance. Ms. Dunbar did a wonderful job with this re-telling and really made it her own story. All I have to say is when is the next book coming????

I received this book in exchange for my honest review.

Let me start off by saying this author had captured my heart with Sound Advice. There hasn't been a book by her that I have not read and fallen in love with the characters. Each story captivates, enthralls, and wraps it's words around your heart. I will say each book in the Sensation Collection has brought me to tears, and this new series has already started the same way. Good tears mind you. I am loving her twist to the classic tales we grew up with. Now saying this I will honestly say I was scared but excited to read this story in particular. I know we all know the story of King Arthur and we know what happens. Well let's say LB Dunbar does a great job giving us this story with a more realistic view. Arturo in the now is just as amazing as Arthur in the old days.

You will fall in love with him, grow to accept his behavior and reasons behind it. You will have those awww moments where you wish you could be his queen and give him what he never knew he was looking for. You will feel for him what Guinie does, but your also going to want to protect him. I know I did. Oh and ladies he is hot, sexy, charismatic, but what I love about him the most is his chivalry. It's rare to find those. He is very devoted once he finds his true love.

Oh, but it isn't just a flowers and chocolate kind of romance. This book also has an edge to it. Hot sexy scenes that make you want to fan yourself and wipe the drool. The writer brings out these scenes in a very tasteful way. So, get yourself comfy and in a private place to read this book. Enjoy the ride of emotions like I did. I am still feeling the aftershocks of this roller coaster that is Arturo's story.

So, as the title says this story will be legendary. You will remember Arturo and the Nights. I would love to say more but it's hard to put into words. I just loved the start, and I am anxious to know what will follow. My greedy hands itch for the next book. As will yours after reading his story.

This is my first time reading this author’s work and it won’t be my last, especially with the cliffhanger that was at the end of this book. It has to be a good sign of a book worth reading that when I finished the book I had to re-read the last chapter and was still yelling out loud as to what the heck just happened. My husband thought I was totally crazy.
Since I was not familiar with the story of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table I probably didn’t get a lot of the inside references some people may have but don’t let that keep you from reading this book. I was still able to get the author’s subtle way of bringing in some of the names relating to the original story and this version was outstanding.
I really loved this story in the way Ms. Dunbar not only made it a” hot rocker” book as far as some of the steamy sex scenes, but in the way that there was a “nice” girl who was brought out of her shell by this domineering rock star. Guinie was also able to bring out the best of Arturo which spoke of the person that Guinie actually was even though she did not recognize that about herself.
You got a little bit of everything in this book. It felt like you went on this ride right along with Guinie. The depth of the love between Arturo and Guinie was really felt because Ms. Dunbar had you feeling everything that Guinie was feeling from her first kiss with Arturo to the famous lines of “I love you my Once and My Future”. I couldn’t put it down because I had to know what was going to happen next and what is the deal with Lans Lott?! So many questions!! I can’t wait to see what’s next. This book had you along for the whole ride.
This is the first time that I read a book and actually googled to see what the mirror story was really all about. That has to speak volumes as to how I was pulled into to this storyline. The hard part now is waiting to see what happens in the next book. I definitely will be picking that book up as soon as it comes out!
