Chase Calhoun has worked hard at making Calhoun Customs a world-wide sensation and keeping his father’s dream alive. He hasn’t had time to think about settling down, so he’s not expecting to find love or new life in their garage amongst the ghosts of his family’s past.

Charlotte Jackson is on the run from a rebellious past, determined to prove she can be a good mom to three-month-old baby, Zoe. Tired of being delegated to the back office of the racing team her famous NASCAR family owns, she sets out to establish herself as a custom design artist. But her past soon threatens her future and everything she’s worked hard to build is challenged.

While Chase slowly loses his heart, Charlotte learns that sometimes family is more than just blood and DNA.

When I seen overdrive on netgalley I have to say the blurb really intrigued me, having never read from Juanita Kees I quickly requested. I thought this was a great summer read, I love a story with a simple romanance and family.
I really enjoyed the characters chase and callie. Chase's character is wonderful, he's so caring of everyone.
Charlie just wants to make a fresh start and be loved for herself and be the best mother she can for her baby zoe.

What a great, short. Heartwarming story, I truly enjoyed it and would recommend to anyone. This was my first time reading from author Juanita Kees but it certainly won't be the last.

5 "I'm willing to take the risk." Stars

I happened upon this book on Netgalley and the blurb really intrigued me. I love family stories with simple romantic tones. This is a great summer read, easy to get absorbed in and beautifully told - I'm so happy to have read such a well written, lovely romance. Told from the third person point of view, Juanita Kees, a new to me author, laid the foundation for Chase and Charlie's story perfectly with an interesting plot. Her writing engaged me and kept the story flowing smoothly from beginning to end. Their journey encompasses conflicted pasts, a big tight-knit family, and two people looking for redemption and freedom for two very different reasons.

Chase and Charlie are both impeccably charming characters muddling their way through life, creating something better for themselves. Sweet Charlie, tormented by her family, falls into the open arms of the Calhoun family seamlessly. Alpha Chase always taking care of everyone around him falls right into Charlie immediately. Together they wind through a story of coming out on top while finding each other. Kees never burdens us with superfluous conflict or details. She gives everything we need to fall in love with these characters. Additionally, we meet the other characters who make up and complete Calhoun circle each of whom intrigued me greatly. I hope all the Calhoun siblings get stories of their own.

I adore endearing love stories with great outer conflicts that don't inflict the couple with forced angst as their discovering what could be. Add in a big, boisterous family who's overcoming their own issues yet still remain so close and you get a true winner. With excellent storytelling chops, Juanita Kees impressed me with Overdrive not only her lovely writing but an engaging yet easy plot, delightful setting and background, and relatable, intriguing characters. I can't wait for more Calhouns Customs stories.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Thanks to the author for providing a copy of this book via Netgalley.

What a heartwarming book! What a nice, short and enjoyable read! It was my first book from this author, but i’d like to read more books from her.
Our heroine is a single mother on a run, her abusive family want to hurt her and her baby. She needs to prove them that she have changed, she could be a good single mother.
She meets our hero, oh how swoony he is. He was all over her from the first time he saw her. But without “alpha-“ moves. I loved him a lot. What a sweet and caring couple they made! And he was sooo good with her little girl....
No OP scenes, no OP drama... I liked this book a lot!! It was too short for me, i'd like some more time with them in epilogue!

OMG I fell in love Chase and his family in the first chapter of this book, it is the fabulous start to a new series, I have always loved MS Kees writing and this one is up there with all of them a keeper to be sure, clear the decks because when you pick this one up you are not going to want to put it down as you get to journey with Chase and Charlie to an emotional and gorgeous HEA.

Charlie Jackson has just arrived in Bigfork Montana with her three month old daughter Zoe, and yes she is running from her family but with dam good reasons, it is cold and things have not worked out the way she thought they would for the rebellious Charlie who is determined to prove that she can change and look after her daughter. When she meets the handsome stranger Chace Calhoun and she is offered a job with the Calhoun family doing the art work she has always dreamed of, things might be looking up but can she keep her feelings about Chase locked away?

Chase Calhoun and his family are close after losing their mother when he was ten years old, he tends to mother his brothers and sisters and now that his father is not well, there is a lot to think about but with the kind caring heart he has he helps out the young mother who has arrived in town, not realizing who she is and how she and her daughter are going to change his life and his families.

This story has so much to love, racing cars, beautiful artwork, families that love and struggle and a romance that will melt your heart with the joy it brings, Charlie and Chase are the most beautiful couple and what they have to go through will have you turning the pages, Charlie is so strong and amazing what she has been through and how she stands up to her father wow I was cheering her on and the love and caring that she gives to the Calhoun’s is fabulous and the way the family supports her and of course Chase man what a hero I loved him, what can I say, thank you MS Kees for another keeper and I am looking forward to the next book in the series. Do yourself a favour don’t miss this story.

It's a new series by one of my favourite Aussie authors, but this time it's set in the US of A, and instead of the romantic suspense Juanita Kees is so well known for in rural Australia, we get a setting with the big engines of the NASCAR racing series.
Juanita has always known her engines and her cars. Even in some of her earliest works (e.g. Under The Hood) her knowledge of what makes a spanner different to a wrench is clear, and her love of cars that go really really fast is uppermost!
My favourite thing about Overdrive was the start. Charlie (Charlotte) in the story is an absolutely desperate young mother, trying to escape the clutches of her family - themselves a dynasty in NASCAR racing. She goes from dynasty to dynasty though, but the Calhouns are so much nicer - particularly Chase.
I like how Chase finds Charlotte in his garage, hiding in plain sight.
This is a story of second chances, of trust, and of forgiveness, and I for one absolutely loved it. Congratulations Tule Publishing on picking up a great Aussie author.

Charlotte ‘Charlie’ Jackson is determined not to give into her father’s ultimatums, so accepting a job with Calhoun Custom Garages is the perfect opportunity to lay low and decide what to do about her future. However, she knows time is running out before her past catches up with her. Still, she’s determined to be a good mother to her baby and prove she’s fit to care for her little one by getting a job and having somewhere to live. Yet, she never expected Chase Calhoun to worm his way into her heart and show her everything she’s been missing – love, family and happiness. Will Chase be able to help Charlotte be free of her past or will they lose their shot at happy ever after because Charlotte’s father isn’t one to give up on getting what he wants? Read More

Chase Calhoun and his family run Calhoun Customs Garage, where their retired NASCAR driver father started. His father, Marty was just diagnosed with Parkinson's disease thus far only Marty's hands are shaking but that enough that they garage needs to hire a graphic artist for his father to mentor. Chase never expected the girl with a baby to be the one they hire especially after finding her and her three month old baby, Zoe hiding in the attic of the garage--a place that he has rarely gone since his mother's death.

Charlotte Jackson is used to garages and fast cars since her father and brother are both NASCAR drivers. Charlie is also running from the PI her father hired her to bring her home. Tony Jackson is never told no. He is a sore loser.

I think this is the first book by this author that I have read and I will definitely be reading more, especially of this series. It was a great first book, introducing us to the members of the Calhoun family. I loved Chase nicknamed Mother by his family for his caring ways, (I'd like a Chase to take care of me). Chase finds Charlie and her baby hiding and as his nickname suggests he takes her in, but there's more than just mothering instinct between these two. This was a quick read about finding yourself, guilt, grief, redemption and family and I found it entertaining and a delightful read, roll on book 2.

This is the first book in a new series and if this book is any indication of what's to come I'm excited to read more! Chase and Charlotte's story was so sweet and it's wonderful to see how they heal other. Chase has ghosts from the past that still haunt him but meeting Charlotte and getting close to her and her baby Zoey seems to be exactly the balm his heart needed. Charlotte's issues are in the present and the way Chase helps her them head on is heartwarming. I'm looking forward to the next Calhoun Brothers story! I highly recommend this one.

I knew I was going to like this story right from the start. Chase cares for his ailing father. Tick. We immediately get a picture of small town life. Tick. He meets the mysterious Charlie with her baby Zoe and tried to help them out. Hooked. I was particularly drawn by Charlie, what she was running from and her efforts to make everything right. This story is fun, too, thanks to the author's light touch and her way of looking at things. I loved it. And I'm not even a car person!

I liked the overall idea of this story but let down by the authors inability to present a stable timeline for the story. Between the arrival of Charlie and the end of the book is meant to be a 7-10 days and yet she seems to have done enough work for at least a month. However, it was the Calhoun family timeline that was a real head-spin and annoyed me throughout. For example, The constant referrals to this event and the bad timeline that goes with it, along with timing of the story itself was off jarring to me as a reader.

Also, some of the characters actions were stupid and went against the historic motivation. The best example of this is when Charlie why? what was the point? did she even think?

I did like Chases character development, he's move towards the forgiving himself felt realistic (if quick), and along side this I thought his brothers beginning steps were well done (and a good set up for a latter book).

I don't think i will be reading the rest of the series as i think the major problem with the timeline will be a fault that all the books suffer from

I really want to hear more from the Calhoun family. Charlie is hiding out from her family and just happens upon the Calhouns and a job. Everything has been against her and she finally finds a place where she fits in. It may be short lived if her father finds her. She doesn't want to lie to the Calhouns, but if she tells them who she is, they may send her away. Chase knows Charlie has problems. They all have problems, but will her problems bring trouble to their door. The more Chase gets to know Charlie, the more he knows that she is the one for him. But, will she stay? She is on the run and he doesn't know how to help her. He just needs her to trust him, but that doesn't seem possible right now. Will he be able to keep her in his life?

Chase was a sweetheart. In fact, I loved the entire Calhoun clan. Charlie sounded like a child until the end. I kept trying to figure out how old she was. The story wrapped up too neatly. The timeline was weird. Everything was resolved within a week. Decades of emotional pain was resolved in a week. Not very believable, but cute. Insta-love. Chase is the ultimate dream guy.

Instant love

Instant love, constant repetition and a simple plot. I get sibling rivalry but is there no other story an author can use. And what’s with the inner monologue. I literally skipped pages to get to dialogue. This books need editing.

Overdrive ticked a few boxes that caused this title to catch my attention immediately. NASCAR. Enough said. I’ve followed many NASCAR dynasties throughout my years of race car addiction, mostly the Earnhardt family, so getting the chance to be right inside those famous or infamous families was definitely a draw. Then there’s the chance to experience a new to me author with Juanita Kees. And this first book in the Calhoun Customs Garage series only tells me that I’ve got some intriguing reading in my future as I explore this author’s back list of books. I love when that happens. Add to those features the fact that Overdrive is an intense yet tender story of two people who really are perfect for each other in all their imperfections… and I was hooked. I’m betting you will be, too.

Charlotte or “Charlie” is the daughter of the Jackson family NASCAR dynasty… or maybe, more precise, the rebellious daughter who can never outshine her brother or please their father. When her father asks the unthinkable from her Charlie sets out to make her own life. An unemployed mother with a tiny baby might not be much to form her own dynasty, but all Charlie wants is a place to belong on her own merits. That shouldn’t be asking for much, yet she’ll find herself living out of her car and crashing in the Calhoun’s attic over their custom garage. She’d been hoping to work as a custom designer for this company, but never thought that she’d be brought into the family in quite the way she was. Once Chase discovers mother and daughter he does what Chase does… takes care of their problem his own way. He might not have been looking for it, but he’ll soon discover that he’s found his own family, one that he’ll do anything to care for and protect.

I was caught up and captured by Overdrive for several reasons. Mostly for the spark between Charlie and Chase. Theirs was an attraction, straightforward without misunderstandings and secrets to get in the way – for the most part. The issues they faced, both individually and together, came from outside their relationship. That made their falling in love, working toward their own future so much more believable. Then there’s the fun of two family dynasties… once current, one former and on to a different path now. The difference between Charlotte’s family and Chase’s is as long as a racetrack. It doesn’t take long before Charlie and her daughter are brought into the fold of this amazing family. And there are several Calhoun family members that I cannot wait to read about in this series.

If you’re in the mood for a really good romance, complicated families, finding your own way in life while finding some of the redemption you’ve missed throughout the years and finding that just right partner for life… then you’ll enjoy Overdrive and the rest of the series to come. Ms Kees has set the stage for an intriguing, interesting and believable series with the world building in this first book. I’m definitely watching for the next title, Fast Lane, to show up… I cannot wait to continue the Calhoun Customs Garage series. You don’t have to be addicted to NASCAR to enjoy this story, that’s just an additional plus. (grins) I’d recommend this story and I’m betting you’ll be hooked, too.

Overdrive by Juanita Kees
This is Charlotte Jackson and Chase Calhoun's story.
“That’ll be ten dollars, please, honey.” Molly held out her hand and peered into the wrap. “How old is the baby?” “She’s three months old.”
“They’re adorable when they’re so young. Every day there’s something new they discover.” Molly smiled warmly.
So true.” The young woman searched the carryall and pulled out her wallet to pay.
Chase tossed the doctor’s report onto the scarred Formica table and turned to the view of Bigfork Bay—a sight that soothed his scattered thoughts and calmed the edginess growing in his belly. It hurt too much to think about his dad being diagnosed with Parkinson’s. A disease that would steal his mobility, his independence and creativity, and the dream they’d built together at Calhoun Customs Garage.
As if life hadn’t stolen enough from the Calhouns, Chase would have to bring home his siblings to more bad news. None of them had ever given thought to their father’s mortality. Not Marty Calhoun, larger than life, tougher than nails, with a heart full of love for his children.
Chase lifted the carton of milk from the refrigerator and tested its weight.
I highly recommend reading.

This was a fast fun book to read. Even though there were some heavy issues that needed to be relieved within the two main character’s families.

You see you have Charlotte Jackson who was raised by her racing father and a mother who took more time with her charity work that with her daughter. Of course, Ronan her brother, got all her dad’s time, money, and encouragement.

Charlie always wanted to be an artist and her father would have none of it. Said it was a waste of time and money. Discounting her feeling and her passion. So, he put her to work in a nothing job at their racing office in the back office where no one could see her. Where she started to rebel in order to be noticed.

It started to escalate to bigger and bigger things to be seen. Until one day she lit her brother’s car on fire. So, her father had her arrested. The charges were later dropped but not until she spent time in jail and the story was leaked to the press about how bad she was to hold over her head. But when she became pregnant that was the last straw. Her father bullied her and locked her away at their home in the Hamptons. All alone.

With all the time to think she decided she didn’t like being Charlotte the rebellious daughter. She wanted to be Charlie, Zoe’s responsible single mother. Since you see her father paid off Zoe’s dad to give up his rights so that he could give up Zoe for adoption. At first, Charlie thought it was best but to give her up for adoption until she felt her move for the first time. Then, NOPE! Not happening. No amount of money in the world would make her give up her baby.

So, she took out all of her money out of her savings and took her clothes and made her get away. But first, she looked up where she could possibly get a job and made sure it was lined up. She also, lined up a daycare. She knew she could make it work. What she didn’t account for was her car breaking down. When she had to use her credit card to get a rental, the PI was then on her case and it was back to getting away from her dad’s scum PI.

She somehow ends up in Calhoun country. Which she’s excited to be in. Truth be told she has always looked up to the man that took her dad down in a race. You see her dad was also a NACAR race too like her brother. And Marty Calhoun beat him fair and square in a race before her retirement to care for his family after his wife died. But she likes him most since she was a kind not for his racing but for what he did after racing his artwork. For his car restoration work.

What she likes him, for now, he has a son Chase who is sexier than sin. In fact, all his boys a hot as hell. But Chase is the one she meets at Molly’s and he brings her some hot tea when she was out breastfeeding Zoe. Then he offered to introduce her to his dad.

From the moment Chase sees Charlie there is an instant connection. He doesn’t know what it is but it sets his world sideways. He knows things are off with her and he doesn’t know what but he knows she is running from something or someone. That she is scared and filled with fear. Being that he has been mothering his siblings since he was ten that comes naturally but this is different. It stirs something in him.

There are so many other issues that need to be resolved that I can’t even begin to tell you that you will not want to put this down. So, don’t. Because I know you will enjoy it. I give this: 5 stars. Provided by netgalley.com. Follow us at www.1rad-readerreviews.com.

I enjoy stories with a small-town setting, so Overdrive by Juanita Kees seemed a perfect fit. I have read a few of her other books taking place elsewhere so I was looking forward to this story. It was everything I loved about small town romance and more. Besides the wonderful Montana area highlighted, it is also a racing story too. Living in NASCAR country, I loved this different take on it. Of course, I didn’t love the villain in the story, but recognized how this could happen in any profession.

The Calhouns are a great family starting with the patriarch, Marty all the way down the line. They are also a family that has experience tragedy and heartaches but have remained loyal to each other. Just the kind of folks you would want to know. Charlie Jackson may not have been the best in the past but her love for her baby is a huge redeeming factor. Chase and Charlie face the problems and challenges together, almost as if the Calhouns are circling the wagons with Charlie and Zoe safely in the center. Great characters in the middle of a strong Montana town.

Overdrive is a heartwarming story giving me a smile with a few tears shed along the way. I can whole heartily recommend this book.

An ARC of the book was given to me by the publisher through Net Galley which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I love discovering a new author and reading their first book for me is like meeting a new friend. I wasn't sure what to expect but as soon as I saw Montana mentioned I knew it was going to be a good read. I was not disappointed at all. This book is well written and kept my attention from start to finish. Chase Calhoun meets Charlie and Zoe and it changes both of their lives as well as the Calhoun family too. I am looking forward to meeting more of the Calhoun family as this series is written. I as shocked and amazed that the author Juanita Kees was not from the states. She wrote as if she were. Bravo. I not only look forward to more in this series but also look to find other books but this talented author.

Overdrive (Book 1 in the Calhoun Customs Series) by Juanita Kees. This is Chase Calhoun and Charlotte “Charlie” Jackson’s story.

This was a fun read. I was hooked from beginning to end. Chase is so wonderful. I love how his family calls him “Mother”. His character is so caring of everyone. Charlie just wants to make a fresh start, to be loved for herself, and the best mother she can be for Zoe. Chase and Charlie are perfect for each other but what will happen when Chase discovers her secrets? What will happen when Charlie’s Past catches up to her?

This was an entertaining and enjoyable read. I look forward to the next books in this series.

Took me a bit to get into it but I actually quite liked it.
The book itself is not that long, the writing was engaging and I liked the main characters. I do think the heroines father/family was a bit OTT but all misdeeds were solved quite easily in the end.
It is a bit too insta-lovey for me (time frame is really short) but there are more books in the series so I am sure we will meet our H/h again!

I really enjoyed this book! I loved how much detail the author put into setting you up in the world where Chase and Charlie live. Immediately you route for Charlie because she has this baby and clearly was escaping some horrible life. And there is Chase who was basically his brothers and sisters mother their whole life. Chase and Charlie were destined to be together and it was such a cute story. There is so much chemistry between them! I really enjoyed how well intertwined there world is. This is a must read for any romance novel addict!!!! I couldn't put it down.

A great start to the Calhoun Customs Garage series, Overdrive by Juanita Kees. A sure roller-coaster of a storyline. Pulled me in from the first page. Charlotte comes to town with her baby escaping her father and brother, looking for a new start. When she is caught squatting at Calhoun Customs Garage, Chase lets her move in to his house until she can get back on her feet. I loved how they fell in love and how Charlotte quickly became part of the family. In the end, the Calhouns were there for her and stepped up to protect her from her biological family. This was a great book!

What happens when you have a baby and your father wants you to give it up for adoption? Well if you are Charlie you take your baby and run. Charlie and Zoe end up hiding out in the attic of Calhoun Customs. That is until Chase Calhoun finds her. He is called Mother by his siblings because he tends to take care of everyone. So Charlie is about to find the perfect person to help her break free from her family. Great story and I will be reading the rest of this series!

Great book

This is a great book and a fast read. Charlie is new to town and is taking some of Chase things. Chase is mad thinking his brother is taking his food when he finds out it is Charlie and her 3month old daughter Zoey. This is a great family book as all the brothers and sisters call Chase their mother and Charlie is just trying to prove she will be a good mom to her kid.
