I've read and mostly enjoyed other series by this author, so had expected to enjoy this one as well. I wanted to enjoy, wanted very much, but no can do. Finally gave up. I believe my issue was mostly to do with Fio's constant "No! I don't WANT to do the job that I signed up to do!!" Had it been once or twice, or had it switched to part of mentally coaxing herself into doing her job, I might have been able to live with it. Nope. Just couldn't do it. Neither of the main characters had any draw for me to continue reading. A real shame, that.
I'm glad that Fiorentia is getting used to her role as a realtor/paranormal investigator (if that's what she is in the story). Although I am shocked by Jack's story and background; hopefully he'll get what he desires in the end. Plus I have a feeling he's a big softy but tries not to show it but when it comes to Fio, it comes out sometimes and he's his old self from his childhood. Hopefully I'll see it in the other books in the series.
These books have a great premise and get more horrifying the further you go in the series. Of course I'd like to see more romance, but the ghosts are really quite enough to keep me interested--and up late at night...🙃
A terrific little read. Yes it does have the same overtones as another series but it hasn't gotten stuck yet. It is still moving forward with new cases and growth in the characters. Although a lot of readers that have read the prequel might be forgiven for thinking they have read this before as the opening chapters are a rehash of what has gone before. Her new job is actually scaring her witless. She's always been a little bit different but it's only now that she accepts that she can see ghosts. The two cases run one after another. The first is a haunted apartment where only women are threatened and the second is a piece of land that the company wants to develop but finds the construction workers getting injured when they work at the site of the old homestead. Plus another property nearby has a haunted room. Will she be able to deal with what turns up? Plus has she gotten a spirit guardian? Then there is the information she hears about Jack - can she help?
This second book is really helping to flesh the characters out a lot more and their personalities are beginning to come out. I love the fact that Fio has always been able to see ghost, always known that she is able to see them but have always denied it. But now with this new job that has hired her because she can see ghosts, she has no choice but to admit it to herself that she can do so. Although it is scary, the outcome is often surprising to her and that is really nice. Another winner from Lotta Smith. I received an ARC and this is my honest opinion.
What a fun new series! I love the premise of our main characters trying to rid real estate properties of former owners that never moved on. In this chapter, construction workers are being bitten. Can Fio figure out why? Is it a vampire or something even worse? Will she get hurt in the process? And just how many ghosts are hanging out here? Can wait for the next installment!
I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest! This was a great book ! Fio is at it again. Another house, another problem to tackle. This time the culprit is a vampire. Let's see how Fio solves this little problem It has all the ingredients that you need for a great book! I can't wait for the next book in this series.
I enjoyed the first book in this series and this one was even more enjoyable. I love these characters and reading about the job they are doing. So much fun. I look forward to the next book in this series.
Relax, Fio is also scared, and it's her job, to see and communicate with dead people. Really scary dead people. Luckily she is getting better at her job. Read and enjoy!
Such a wonderful book. I love the characters of Fio and the new character of the Little Fox Ghost Champ. The first book was wonderful but this one I loved even more. Author Lotta Smith has written another wonderful book. Loved it.
