I love this series because it’s so different from anything else I read. The characters are lovable despite being quirky and flawed. The premise with helping ghosts crossover has been done but I like the ghosts that hang out and the thought of the SPA to police them. I did miss Beechwood Harbor as this book is set mostly in Seattle but the story was still great. I’m hoping there will be more in this series.

By far my favorite book in the series. The stakes seem to be higher and the case more dangerous than what Scarlet has faced previously. Some of the supernaturals in Seattle are up to something nefarious. How far does their sinister plot go? It's Scarlet and her friends versus the supernatural world as none of the authorities (both normal and supernatural) are proving to be of any help.

I’ve been making my way through all of Danielle Garrett’s paranormal cozy mysteries as audiobooks (trying to go in the order she has listed on her website) and for the most part I have enjoyed most of them so far (Magic Mysteries, Ghost Mysteries, and Touch of Magic trilogy). There are some things that drive me a bit crazy - repeated use of “my heart squeezed” or “my heart stopped for a whole beat” - but I enjoy most of the characters and the world that she has built.
The narrator Amanda Ronconi is wonderful at doing all the voices, except the cat, Flapjack - his voice sounds so nasally that it detracts from my enjoyment of his character. He’s a snide sarcastic cat which is wonderful but that voice - yikes.
[Side note about Flapjack: Scarlett is so dang mean to him. Yes, he complains a lot which is also annoying after a while (only a few and far between moment when he’s actually nice), but through the series, she is just so mean to him. And after she finally is able to touch him again, you’d think she’d want to hug him occasionally, if he allowed it]
As for “Bad Ghost Club” - I found this one to be my least favorite in the ghost series. Scarlett does so many things that feel out of character and plot-driven only. Spoilers ahead:
Scarlett hacks into Lucas’s work computer! She doesn’t want the ghosts to spy on him while he’s talking on the phone in the other room, but this she’s fine with. Of course, conveniently he’s left his work computer out even though he just left for work! Such a violation of her husband’s trust. And it’s never mentioned afterwards so Lucas has no idea.
Scarlett’s recklessly gets on some stranger’s motorcycle after talking to him only for a few minutes. She ends up at some warehouse club with no ride home. When her phone is stolen, she doesn’t seem that concerned by it. When she finally gets it back, she uses it like nothing happened - not concerned about possibly having the phone hacked or anything - even though she knows they think she’s an undercover cop and are gunning for her - but she doesn’t have it checked or have her husband do security diagnostic. For some reason, she still has no idea about certain supernatural things - often claiming she should have learned more from Holly. You would think you’d want to know more about your own power and the supernaturals who exist in the world. And in the end, not only does she bring her human husband to the club as “backup”but she also brings her ghosts, even though she knows there are supernatural baddies and a trapped ghost which indicates the possibility of them being trapped as well.
Meanwhile, Lucas is just there - like a cut-out doll. There for her purposes and no questions asked. She is not honest with him regarding her conflicted feelings about leaving Beechwood so he has no idea. She doesn’t tell him about the situation she’s involved in, and even when he conveniently shows up to pick her up at the club (after she rode there with the guy she didn’t know) he’s jealous for a moment and then everything is back to normal. Back to worrying about house hunting. Of course, as luck would have it, he neatly ends up on suspension and decides to go back to his previous non-security work which he’s never told her about throughout their whole relationship.
The biggest miss for me is at the end of the story, there’s a moment when she has a ring that lets a character see their ghost relatives. It’s a lovely moment. But Scarlett has to give the ring back to the SPA later. What I don’t get is why she can’t take a moment and let her human husband actually see the ghosts she interacts with every single day. There was a real missed opportunity to have this moment where he can be a part of her world, even if it’s just for a hour. At least he’d finally have a visual of these ghosts that share their space. Or better yet, a special exception where he gets to have a ring of his own. Maybe if there’s another Scarlett book, he’ll finally get to be more part of her world.

Scarlet reluctantly packs up for her latest trip from Beechwood Harbor to Seattle where she and the ghosts will join Lucas in the latest round of househunting. She is still not excited to be leaving her small town, but she loves Lucas and wants to be with him. Now if only they can find the perfect place for the right price. This might prove difficult since their first real bite on a home finds them tangled with a mind magic user who nearly ensnares them into bidding waaay over the asking price.
Scarlet no sooner gets off the phone with the SPA (Supernatural Protection Agency) on that one when a ghosts begs her help on behalf of her Bad Ghosts Club to find a human girl who has been kidnapped. Scarlet keeps this new investigation on the down lo from Lucas and this is easy to do since he's being irritated by a work project that means he is tied up on the phone or in the office during what is meant to be their precious time together.
The investigation leads to a secret society club and things take a turn toward the dangerous supernatural.
Bad Ghosts Club was more than a paranormal cozy mystery and I've always enjoyed that the author instills developed characters and romance as part of the plot. Scarlet and Lucas are still feeling their way through their first weeks of being married and what it means to have separate careers, separate towns, and not always seeing eye to eye on how she handles the ghostly side of her life. All this makes for a layered, engaging story,
Early in the book, Scarlet had me muttering. This time it wasn't about dragging her feet and not talking through personal stuff with Lucas, but she's lying and hiding her movements from him. There was some truly Too Stupid to Live moments that were part and parcel with not keeping Lucas in the loop. But just as I was really getting restless, she gets it together in time to be smart about her investigation and smarter about her relationship. And, hey, apparently Lucas had his own moments of not-communicating.
This was not the usual ghostly mystery adventure. It dipped into the world of the other Beechwood Harbor Magic series when Scarlet encounters magic more than once and has to involve the supernatural police while of course getting in the middle of the investigation. It was pretty exciting and I enjoyed it. The solution to a couple things bothering Scarlet, Lucas, and the ghosts was found and I had that part figured out a few books ago so I was glad to see them come to the same conclusion.
Amanda Ronconi, as narrator of the series and other books by the author, is in a good groove so that the world of the stories, the characters, and pace are all to the good. Ha, loved the scenes with the new ghost characters especially when interacting with Flap Jack.
So, it was a roller-coaster ride and a fun one at that. The series is pressing on and I look forward to seeing what comes next. Recommend this audio version of the series to paranormal cozy mystery fans who like a humorous, charming, and exciting cast of characters and a side of romance.

Bad Ghosts Club is book 7 in the Beechwood Harbor Ghost Mystery series. This is a cozy mystery set in a small town in the state of Washington, USA. The main character, Scarlet, has the ability to interact with ghosts. Together, with her ghost cat and ghost friends, she helps to solve murders. This book was a little different because Scarlett was trying to solve a missing person case, rather than a murder like she usually does. The case took her into the supernatural community where she finds more magic and other beings that she is not used to interacting with. I enjoyed this book. It has been a solid series overall. The narration is good too. I am starting book 8 now. I give this book 4 stars overall.

Great installment to the series. More fun adventures with the ghostie friends. Enjoyed the adventures around Seattle, empathized with the house hunting woes, and really liked more glimpses into this paranormal world. Will definitely read the other books set in Beechwood Harbor!

Such an adorable end to Scarlet, Lucas, and the ghosts' story! I was really hoping it was going to end exactly as it did. The mystery was fun and interesting, as usual!

In "Bad Ghosts Club" we find Scarlet and Lucas, having survived their honeymoon, finally back in Seattle ready to start wedded live, - and close on their dream house. Of course, nothing is ever quite simple for these two and chaos soon errupts when a ghost commissions Scarlet to find a kidnap victim. Expect, the normal cozy vibes this series is known for, real estate problems, Gwen and Hayward getting a little bit of culture, entanglements with the supernatural law enforcement community and a serpent cult.

Picking up about one month after Ghosts Just Wanna Have Fun, Bad Ghosts Club focuses on Scarlet and Lucas starting their married life and trying to find a place to live in Seattle. While housing-hunting, Scarlet catches the attention of a local detective, who also happens to be a ghost. Soon Scarlet is wrapped up in another mystery taking her down a dangerous path.
Unlike the previous book, Scarlet and Lucas spend most of their time apart; him with work and Scarlet busy helping her new ghostly acquaintances. While I enjoyed the mystery - one of the ghost’s sister is kidnapped and involved with some shady characters, I did not care for Scarlet’s reckless behavior. She goes off on her own without telling Lucas, including jumping on the back of a motorcycle with a complete stranger who takes her to a secret club. What. The. Hell? Additionally, Flapjack is super annoying for much of the book, complaining and even encouraging Scarlet to break into Lucas’s work laptop.
Those aspects aside, Scarlet does eventually get her act together and involves Lucas in the investigation. Additionally, I liked seeing Scarlet mulling over her future and what was best for the couple. Like I mentioned above, the mystery is exciting with some interesting twists.
Narration: As always, the Beechwood Harbor ghost gang is brought to life through the performance of Amanda Ronconi, who consistently does a wonderful job. The series is voiced from the first person POV of Scarlet. Ms. Ronconi captures Scarlet’s kindness, generosity, and determination. But also convincingly voices her frustration when called for. Additionally, Ms. Ronconi gives each of the three primary ghost regulars distinct and appropriate voices, and her male voices are generally deeper and fitting.

Wowza! I can't believe this is the last book in the series (at least so far). It was quite a thrilling and suspenseful journey for Scarlet and the Gang. I am sad that it's over because I felt this book had potential to dredge up a new angle to Scarlet and Lucas and the ghosts. It did end on a cheery note which is good. There was action and suspense. It felt much different from the other books. Which was a change but super nice. The only Drawback is that it was short, or at least I felt it was short.
Short Synopsis: Scarlet is in Seattle for a little with Lucas while they hunt for a house there. Scarlet is having second thoughts about living there even if she isnt fully acknowledging it. Lucas is having a tough time at work. The ghosts are making the best of it but knowing that Scarlet moving to the big city is on the horizon. However they are enjoying the time there. Alas, a group of ghosts come in and present a mystery to Scarlet. One of the ghosts sisters suddenly goes missing and Scar teams up with them along with the ghosts to find the missing sister. However, it wont be easy as they are also looking for house. The plot thickens and the rabbit hole goes deeper as Scarlet and the gang try and find the missing girl. Scarlet ventures into the Haven for what feels like the first time. (even though it probably wasnt.)
Mystery Wise: It was thrilling. Scarlet felt more of alive in this book. I felt that she finally broke out of that "let it be" personality quicker than before. She is on the hunt for the missing girl while also looking for a house. The ghosts get more action too. Flapjack harnessing his 007 skills while the other two gather intel of the situation. When it came to the who done it, I was quite amazed at the situation. She has to balance this while also house hunting and trying to coup with Lucas's job taking up the time she has with him while she is visiting him.
Relationship Wise: We see Scarlet and Lucas have some quarrels but it doesn't really explode. Scarlet and Lucas go through some tough times looking for a house but they seem to grow stronger. The ghosties also seem to be enjoying their time. Gwen and Hayward are getting closer and it seems to be getting more serious and they have worked on the issues with each other. Flapjack is more a personality in this book. He may seem that like the grouchy sarcastic cat from before but this time he gets in the action.
There are some plot holes in the book that really through me off. Like there is a part with this guy named Eli, he is in the story for like a smidge and then we never hear about him again. Which to me is weird. Then there is another guy Treavor. ( I think that was his name. i sorta forgot it) but he was mentioned in the book and had some pivotal scenes but alas at the end he was semi forgotten. Then there was the Haven. I wish that Scarlet utilized it more in the previous books.
All in all, the series was amazing and after reading/listening to the Beechwood Magic Mysteries this felt great. I loved it and I am sad that it is over. It did have somewhat closure but I feel that there are some parts that could help bring out another book. We could have also had like an epilogue at the end where we get some what of an update on Scarlet and Lucas and the ghosts life after this book to really give it a good end. Who knows, if there is another book Im sure to get it. I definitely recommend this book series to anyone. It's Cozy and magic mysteries that will have you glued.

Another delightful read, I'm actually getting quite sad as i know after this review I'll be onto the last book and I'm not ready to say goodbye to Scarlet and the gang. I adore the town of Beechwood and i really wish i could move there, it would definitely be interesting and i know I'd make great friends..
While house hunting with Lucas in Seattle, Scarlet meets her first ever ghost detective.
The Supernatural Protection Agency has brushed the ghost off for calling wolf too many times, so now they need Scarlet's help. When a young woman who the ghost is watching over is kidnapped, Scarlet and the detective need to work together if they have are to have any chance of rescuing her.
Scarlet goes to see Lucas and it's not long before she's being dragged into another ghostly crisis, but i found that this book was a little bit different from the others mainly because it involves the SPA (Supernatural Protection Agency) it was great to see the higher authorities of the magical community and interesting to read about, especially as Scarlet mainly works by herself or with her friends and Lucas. I did worry about Scarlet at one point as she went of on her own (with Flapjack) with someone she didn't know putting herself in danger just to find a lead, i was relieved when she came to her senses though taking her usual back up later. Apart from that little slip up, (and yes i shouted at my book when she did that) i continue to adore my girl Scarlet.
Lucas isn't having the best time with his job which seems to be taking over even though he's supposed to be off work and spending time with Scarlet and house hunting. Of course when it came to being the back up for Scarlet he's not only in top form but has a few surprises as well. This is why i love him and Scarlet together, they make a fantastic team. And although things haven't been going well for him what happens at the end turns out for the best.
My feline with no filter Flapjack is literally just the absolute best, not only is he the master of manipulation he's still the sassy floofball I've come to know and love.
Well I'm onto the last book (sob) and i can't wait to see what happens to these guys in this last installment. So if you want a fun, fast paced cozy read look no further. I really can't recommend this series enough. 😁
While house hunting with Lucas in Seattle, Scarlet meets her first ever ghost detective.
The Supernatural Protection Agency has brushed the ghost off for calling wolf too many times, so now they need Scarlet's help. When a young woman who the ghost is watching over is kidnapped, Scarlet and the detective need to work together if they have are to have any chance of rescuing her.
Scarlet goes to see Lucas and it's not long before she's being dragged into another ghostly crisis, but i found that this book was a little bit different from the others mainly because it involves the SPA (Supernatural Protection Agency) it was great to see the higher authorities of the magical community and interesting to read about, especially as Scarlet mainly works by herself or with her friends and Lucas. I love cozy mysteries, and Danielle Garrett’s writing and character choices kept me fully engaged. The story is fun, immersive, and exactly what I enjoy about this genre.
What surprised me most wasn’t the mystery — it was my own reaction to the heroine.

Entertaining paranormal cozy mystery series
This is an entertaining paranormal cozy mystery series. A great cast of characters and a fun and entertaining storyline. Our main character is a young woman who owns a flower shop in a small coastal town in Oregon. She recently got married to her boyfriend and they were planning on moving to Seattle as soon as she figures out if she’s going to sell her flower shop and also the mess to find a new home to live in. As the househunting goes on she is going back-and-forth between Beach Harbor and Seattle. While visiting for a few days househunting with her husband in Seattle she meets a new ghost. A new mystery arises and even though she’s not initially intending to get involved she does end up getting involved in the mystery. Well her husband Lucas is involved in some issues arising at work that he must take care of. She goes about with her other cohorts the trio of ghosts that I’ve been hanging around with her for years and the new ghosts to find out what is going on. As by the way you may have noticed she can see and speak to ghosts. Redone and follow along and see where the adventure leads.

Sleepless & Scared in Seattle
Just started this book at 10:00 pm. Couldn't put it down. It's now 1:05 am. Finished Scarlett 's latest adventure. That's how good this story is! However, I expected as much since Danielle Garrett has yet to publish a bad story.
Scarlett is finally spending some quality time with Lucas international Seattle while doing some househunting. At least that was the plan. Along with her ghostly trio of 2 humans & 1 feline, 3 Seattle ghosts have come begging for Scarlett to help them find the still living twin sister to 1of the Bad Ghosts Club, Lydia. Tessa has been brazenly kidnapped off the street.After reporting the information to the SPA, they decide it's the Seattle P.D. jurisdiction. Feeling Lydia needs her help, Scarlet decides to find the clues to not only solve Tessa's kidapping but find another house to live.oh, &try to destoy a secret society named The Serpent's Tongue which may be a cult. Will the SP.A finally send some agents?

This was a hard one for me because while I like the story overall I feel Scarlett took several MAJOR steps backward in terms of her maturity, sensibility, trust, etc before coming to her senses. While I’m Seattle house hunting, Scarlett runs across a ghost who seeks her help to assist her living sister who just might be mixed up in a dangerous situation. Meanwhile Lucas is having problems at work so he is distracted. Holly does some very dangerous things, that I’m not sure Lucas should have so easily forgiven or brushed off? She puts herself in danger with strangers at the drop of a hat, breaks into Lucas’ work computer, violating his privacy, at one point I was thing.. WHO is this character??? Fortunately, she gets it together and she, Lucas, and the ghostly trio and some new ghostly friends, band together to confront a new deadly threat. In the end, loose ends are tied up nicely to keep the gang all together. But I’m still displeased.

I very much appreciate the competentancy of the MC(s) without the bull-headed stupidity that often comes with this kind of supernatural series. Scarlett might have made some dumb choices in the first book, but once she actually realized that she didn't *have* to go it alone, she cheerfully accepted her support structure and uses them to back her up when Trouble comes a callin'. The professionals ALSO being competent is quite refreshing, too, as is Scarlett's willingness to go to them when things start to build to a point beyond her abilities to handle on her own.
On a slightly spoilery note, I do admit to being disappointed about Lucas's new job prospects. Seems like with their track record, the two of them should be taking advantage of that PI throwaway comment from a few books back. But I suppose helping undead clients doesn't exactly pay the bills.

While visiting Lucas in Seattle and looking at houses, Scarlet is approached by a ghost detective who wants her help with a missing person. At first reluctant to help but inevitably gets involved, the missing person case is more than it seems.
With the help from her ghostly trio Scarlet is off to investigate as Lucas is too involved in some work crisis to even look at houses.
This has a nice mystery that is a bit more difficult and dangerous than some of the others she has encountered. Scarlet is a bit different in this book, sneakier and less careful but Lucas just goes with it. Sometimes he’s just too nice although it works for them. There is still the delay in buying a house and moving out of Beechwood. There are some interesting dynamics going on.

In Bad Ghosts Club Scarlet and the gang are back, but this time in Seattle. While Scarlet and Lucas try to find a house, Scarlet meets a new ghost a ghost detective. I loved that this expanded on some of the magic and other creatures in this world. Very interesting and it makes me even more excited to read Holly’s story!

I do wish we had explored way more of Scarlett’s magic. Considering I have one more book until I’ve caught up (not sure if this series is completed or not?) I doubt I’ll get to know as much as I would like.
Overall, I’m going to need a different series to help me get over having to leave Scarlett & gang once I’ve finished. :( I’m going to miss these characters so much.

Ghost detectives on the case!
Scarlet goes to Seattle for the week to see Lucas and look at houses. Of course she gets side tracked when a ghost detective asks for her help when the girl whose house she haunts is taken. It really gets interesting when she hops on a strangers motorcycle and ends up in a secret club. And Lucas seems to be having issues at work, which bleed over into Scar's visit. All in all it turns out to be quite the trip but the ending makes it all worth it!
Im so glad that this isnt the end of Scarlet and Lucas. I love visiting Beechwood.

Last book currently out in the series. I hit a part where I had to put the book down. Most of you will likely recognize it when you get there. I did finish the book and I'm glad I did. HEA was achieved, but I really did not care for this main character having a hypocritical moment. I might be a teensie bit over-involved in these stories, but I do really like the characters and I have developed a certain set of expectations.
Anyway - Moving on to another of Garrett's Beechwood series. Hope it is as good. I suspect it will be.

I had the oddest experience with this book. I am a mood reader and started trying to read this on 5/14, and 5/20. And 5/24. But other books called my heart. On 6/1 I thought I’d give it another try. I was mesmerized from the first sentence!
In this story a real push is made to find a home in the city. But things keep going wrong. Then, a ghost reports her live sister has been kidnapped. The book just keeps getting better.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
