Let’s get one thing straight. I love pu$$y. Effin’. Love. It.
Call me shallow, call me a perv, call me a cocky bastard, but the reason I know there’s a heaven is because God made women.
Because no matter who a woman is, a ball-buster in the courtroom or a flower child at an Avitt Brothers concert, I have the keys to their kingdom, and they all want it.
Until Mariah Sanchez - aka Sparky
She wants me.
I can feel it. I can smell it. But for nine months, sixteen days, twelve hours and forty-seven minutes she’s had my “you know what” in irons. Worse, my mouth and my fingers, too. Locked up in an invisible prison of my own making. And because I’m a stupid idiot, the only person I can blame for my predicament is me.
Tessa Layne is a five-time USA Today bestselling author of contemporary romance across many genres. Known for her high heat "emotionally searing and uplifting" story lines, Tessa’s books take you on an adventure of the heart from the rugged and remote Kansas Flint Hills to the big-city boardroom. Additional pen names include TS Layne (billionaires) and coming in 2024, Tessa Snow (dark fantasy romance). Tessa lives in the heart of the Rocky Mountains with her husband, daughters, and two unruly cats. When she’s not writing, you can find her outside chatting up the bees in her garden, hunting for berries in the woods, or playing in the snow.
Let's get one thing straight! I love Tessa Layne! She is one of my favorite authors. And I Effin’. Loved. Pussy Magnet! I knew when I read that title alone, I had to devour this book. It was awesome! I laughed out loud on more than one occasion. Tessa had me at Chapter Three! From the perspective of Steele's dick. LOL!
Brilliantly funny! Steele's nickname, Pussy Magnet, says it all, and so does Mariah's, Sparky. I floved it!
OMG, the tension and chemistry between Sparky and Steele can be felt right from the very first page! I flew through the pages because their story is fun and interesting. This is a really good and entertaining rom-com that you guys need to get a read on. And I can't wait for Stockton and Penny's story!
There are many types of books, there are some that after reading them you are no longer the same, because they make you reconsider, to think deeply, those that cause a storm of emotions and shake you, but also those that are like a balm on the wound, light and refreshing, like cold lemonade on a hot day, which relaxes you and do not burden you at all. Pu$$y Magnet is just that, perfect for days when you just want to relax and enjoy a light read that will bring a smile to your lips Steele and Mariah - two people who are striving for the same goal, colleagues ... one night, a celebration, a lot of alcohol and hidden desires come to light...Is it possible to go back to the old ways when they have already peeked at something that attracts them more and more? ... One bet, who will win? Will it be the womanizer who does not believe in cherishing only one woman or the girl who manages to shake him like no other? And what about that unbearable attraction, can they afford to rock the boat? Definitely a light, fun, and sexy read that will make you laugh and sigh. The writing style is quite interesting and innovative, it is great to read something only from the perspective of the hero, and the accessories from the perspective of his cock is something I meet for the first time. A nice addition to the book, it must be admitted ... Sparky was a badass leading lady - a real spitfire. Small but sassy, open and reliable, and not really that shy about what she wants. Ready to take initiative whenever she finds it suitable. And bringing sexy Steele to his knees was absolutely amazing. Steele was hot-as-sin and cocky but without being arrogant or sleazy. His transition from the guy who can have any woman he wants (and he does) to the swoon-worthy hero is awesome. If you’re looking for a light read which is well written and full of snappy, steamy, and sweet moments with a dash of humor then you have to read this one. Read it! You won’t regret it.
I have to be honest. I found Tessa Layne about a year ago when she was releasing her Bad Boys series (Mr. Pink, Mr. White, etc.). With the first two books of that series, she grabbed my attention, namely because the point of view she takes with that series is mostly elaborated through her heroes. I find that intriguing given that, oftentimes, the heroine’s voice or a third person point of view dominates romances. Even more, I find your capacity to capture a masculine point of view impressive. That’s often my biggest criticism of romances. Just as male writers struggle to capture the voice of women in romance or fiction, I believe female writers have the same struggle. However, Tessa Layne’s depictions read as authentic.
Unfortunately, due to timing restraints, it has been some time since I’ve read Layne’s books. Until now. The Pu$$y Magnet, the first full book of her Titans of Tech series, hit my Kindle, and I dove deep into its story. This series is interesting because there are so many elements to it. Firstly, this series follows a group of men who either work together in a lucrative business with a multi-faceted profile. They also row together bringing in an oft-neglected sport to romance. Layne’s series, more specifically, Pu$$y Magnet, has this manner about it that offers you something different with the turn of each chapter. After reading this book, there are some decided reasons why readers should spend their hard-earned money on this book to read over a weekend:
I love a reticent heroine. What I mean by that is a heroine who does not readily fall into a love relationship with the hero of the story. This is the case with Mariah “Sparky” in Pu$$y Magnet. Yes, she is attracted to the hero of this book, Harrison Steele. Yet, Harrison is the requisite playboy, bedding anyone in the vicinity of him. As such, Mariah fights against her attraction to him, not readily falling into it. She makes Harrison work for it. Even more, she is a Latina (we need more representation in romance), she is incredibly hardworking, and she is the perfect match for the promiscuous Harrison. She challenges him in ways no other woman challenges him, even beyond being the coxswain for his rowing team. Harrison makes this book light. In fact, Layne takes liberties with this book, ascribing chapters from the perspective of Harrison’s male anatomy. Yes, there is tension between Mariah and Harrison, but given the bet between these two and those chapters that interrupt their burgeoning dalliance, you cannot take this book too seriously, which I find important for today’s world where everything is so serious. As a hero, Harrison is wealthy, handsome, charming, and a bit muddled by Mariah, and that makes for a compelling characterization for Layne’s readers. This romance feels initially like a hate-to-love story in the sense that Mariah challenges Harrison to become a better man, even though she doesn’t necessarily intend it that way. Again, the dichotomy of their attraction for each other and their frustration towards each other compels you forward into their story. And simply, learning little bits about the other Titans of Tech makes you see the opportunities for Layne’s future books. It feels as though you’ve begun a “family” romance series with the ways that these men exist in each other’s worlds. Pu$$y Magnet feels as much of an introduction to this series as it reads like Harrison and Mariah’s love story. If I have any criticism of Pu$$y Magnet, it would be the quick fall into love for Harrison. For someone who has lived life as a playboy for many years, his adoration for Mariah and acceptance of her for a relationship reads unevenly. Additionally, Mariah “Sparky’s” challenging plot point towards the end is underdeveloped. Layne should have spent a bit more time developing that part of her story.
There is something light about Pu$$y Magnet from its title to its points of view to the characterizations of its hero and heroine. I didn’t realize that my heart would feel light when I finished the book, but it turned out to be the perfect respite from a life that feels all too heavy right now. If you love steam, sass, and everything in between, then Tessa Layne’s Pu$$y Magnet is the book for you.
I wouldn't call this one quite that naughty. I expect a little more and risque naughty times. It was a bit of a letdown in the that department. It was a cute book but it was very fast paced and it felt like there were a bunch of other stories going on, which had me a bit clueless as to what was happening.
There was some cuteness with the texts between Mariah and her sister, some occasional cute times between Mariah and Harrison/Steele.
My eye roll came from the fact that we got chapters from the POV of Steele's c*ck. It was a bit ridiculous.
If you need a quick read to up your book count this one is worth it but not much to write home about.
Harrison (Steele) and Sparky have been teammates and friends for years. She's the coxswain (cox) and he's the stroke position. Yes, I know, I know... inappropriate jokes aside, their team is solid and the last thing either wants is to mess up the team's chemistry by indulging an attraction to each other. That's why when she bets him he can't stay celibate, things get even more crazy after a night of team drinking. But she wants to keep it on the down low and he wants it to be known because he's possessive like that. Will the world's biggest player lose his mind to love?
Pu$$y Magnet is hot, sweet and short, a great introduction to this team of rowers. I loved Mariah and Steele together, their wit and snark and holy smokes, their insane chemistry! Whew...Can't wait for Stockton and Penny's story now, O Magnet.
ARC via Wildfire Marketing Solutions for an honest review. Ebook also purchased via Amazon.
Harrison is a man who is well aware of his appeal when it comes to women as long as they realize that he is single and intends to stay that way. He can have any woman he wants so and is not shy about loving and leaving so having his fellow teammate be the one woman he can’t walk away from is a complication he doesn’t need.
Mariah is well aware of Harrison’s reputation and wants no part of it despite how he makes her feel. She values her place on the rowing team and has had to handle men all of her life so he is no different but when she lays down a challenge it is game on!
Humor and heat combine as watching the relationship unfold between Harrison and Mariah was so much fun.
As far as romantic comedies go, this wasn’t a bad story. However, the romance portion was lacking in spades. This is a full-length story, so I expected the romance followed by love to be fully fleshed out in the story-line. It wasn’t. That made me sad because when the *i love you*s were said it was like nothing. I literally did a double take and flipped back to see if i missed a chapter or something.
I also have zero clue why “From the perspective of Steele’s dick” chapters were in this book. And there were a lot. I thought it was just an intro thing when the book began but ... no, they kept happening. They added nothing for me *shrug*
I was really impressed with this author on the last (and first) book I read by her so we’ll see what happens when I read the next. Till next time :)

What a quick, fun, laughter, snarky sexy read about Maria “Sparky” and Harrison “Steele”... teammates on the rowing crew until a bet changes the scope of their relationship...she bet him no sex for a year for Mr. “Steele”...friends to temptation. Will they keep it under wraps, away from the rest of the crew so not to disrupt the team dynamics or will the “sparks” blow them out of the water??
This was an ok read it reminded me of Josh Hartnetts 40 days and 40 nights 😆, some entertaining bits. not sure why we had chapters from his aubergine 😳😬
"Right now, a part of me that's becoming increasingly hard to ignore is craving a deeper connection with Sparky."
Harrison Steele is a player through and through. He can never get enough of women - like wine, there are too many types to just stick to one. He just loves the superficial one-and-done deal. When he finds himself entering into a wager with the coxswain of his rowing team, Mariah Sanchez AKA Sparky, he's determined to win because he suddenly can't stop seeing her in a new light, and the prize would be so worth winning. However, as he gets to know better, he realises that winning isn't really what he's interested in. He just wants her. Period. But, they can't afford to rock the boat with their successful rowing crew, when things fizzle out.
"I intend to rock her world so hard she never wants anyone else."
This was a refreshing palate cleanser of a read after the last book I read. I needed something light, fun, and sexy to balance out my reading list. Sparky was a fab leading lady - a real ballbuster of a woman. Small but feisty and not really that shy about what she wants, with more than a little bit of mischief about her. Steele was gorgeous and cocky but without being arrogant. He was actually a great dude, and I loved how Sparky broke him down and had him wanting things he'd never yearned for before. Fab read!
I received a free ARC copy of this book from the author prior to release and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is my first book by this author and the title made me hesitate about reading this story but I absolutely loved it. At first Steele comes off as a huge jerk who only does one nights here or there. He is very wealthy, handsome, runs his own company and also runs his own rowing team and he loves his casual life. That is until one night where he sees his rowing girl, Mariah aka Sparky, flirting and drunk with another team and he decides to save her.
And thats where the fun starts. Its a night for him like no other when he starts to see Sparky and so starts a year long challenge between these two and I loved the two and watching them flirt and start become really awesome friends.
I don't think I have ever read about an adult league rowing team that works together and are good friends and the leader falling for his rowing girl. Honestly I know nothing about the sport so it was a fascinating romance and I really adored both main characters.
The next book sounds really awesome too and I cannot wait to read it.
This was an enjoyable read and I would label an insta romance since things go from 0 to 100 right in the beginning.
Steele and Mariah are teammates on Steele’s company’s row team and they have been teammates for a while. However, after a big win one night Steele starts to notice Mariah, aka Sparky, in a completely different light. When he extracts her from a drunk situation it setups the bet that changes everything between them.
I said this book is an insta romance because although they have been on the same team for a while Steele never noticed Sparky in any way expect as a teammate, then boom she is all he can think about and even accepts a bet of celibacy for a year; which to me is a complete 180 since he thought of her like one of the bros a few hours prior.
But I did enjoy how Steele changed or matured just because he wanted a real chance with Mariah, but I also love that she didn’t give in so easily.
I loved Steele’s friends, teammates and employees: Owen, Stockton, Danny and the others.
"This is the book you didn’t know you needed to read until you actually reach the ending. It was fun as much as it was sexy. I am an avid reader of sports romance novels, but I can honestly say that I have never read a book where the sport is rowing. And I absolutely loved it. Steele & Sparky had a great friendship before they became anything more. A great mutual respect for each other as well. I enjoyed their banter but I especially loved Mariah’s sassiness and her take no cr*p attitude. She was such a breath of fresh air. Now I can’t wait to get my hands on Stockton & Penny’s book next. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book" ~Sharon
This is my first book by this author and I thoroughly enjoyed it from the start. I love a good sports romance and this is my first rowing romance so it kept my interest and even more so with the chemistry, spark, banter between Steele and Sparky. Enjoyable till the end!! ~Jen
Harrison Steele can have any woman he wants. And he does. Until one morning, he makes a bet with the one woman he SHOULDN'T want - Mariah Sanchez.
Told mostly from Harrison's POV, we get a fun, steamy romance from a man who's accustomed to being in control butting heads with an equally strong female. Sparky doesn't take Harrison's crap, and it's one of the reasons why they work so well together in and out of the bedroom.
I enjoyed this rom-com so much! I laughed quite a bit. Even Harrison's "perfect junk" got in on the hilarious action! I loved the story arc, and I look forward to the other titan's stories. The ending really whet my appetite for more.
I voluntarily read & reviewed an ARC of this book.
This was a quick read. I found the perspective from Steele's junk to be hilarious. Given the title of the book, it was quite fitting. Mariah "Sparky" Sanchez and Harrison Steele wagered that he could be celibate for one year. As the only female and coxswain for the rowing crew, she was off limits.... no crewmance allowed. Steele has quite the reputation so Sparky's wager was a big one. It was only fitting how he broke his celibacy. I thought how they revealed their feelings for each other would have been more spectacular given how they tried to deny their attraction, but they got their HEA so there's that.
I was received a complimentary copy of this book at my request and voluntarily left this review.
My first read of a Tessa Layne book - but it won't be my last - I enjoyed Pu$$y Magnet it was a really nice RomCom - don't let the title fool you if you are looking for something raunchy this isn't it - hot yes but not over the top!
This is a slow burn romance - well it would have to be as Sparky (Mariah Sanchez) the coxswain (read on your rowing ladies) for the rowing team that Mr Magnet himself Steele is part of challenges 'The Man of Steel' to remain celibate for 1 year and she will give him one night with her!
Yeah like that is go to happen right? Well you will have to follow Sparky Mr Pu$$y Magnet on this funny engaging book to find out!
This is the book you didn’t know you needed to read until you actually reach the ending. It was fun as much as it was sexy. This was one of those books were it was good, but I felt like I was missing half the book? Like did I even read the same book as everyone else? I honestly don’t think so. Everything was warp speed and sometimes I couldn’t understand the timeline bc of it. Also I didn’t even understand that this was supposed to be a romantic comedy book? Also like maybe I’m missing something but I don’t get how the company fits it? What’s the point of including that if your not gonna explain how it all works? This book could have used a lot more words...especially background words lol
2.5 ~quick, fun, and only slightly confusing~ stars for this book
This is the 1st in a new series from this author and is Harrison and Mariah’s story. These two have been friends and teammates for some time, and with Harrison the womanizer meets his match in the spitfire Mariah, and he is determined to make the girl he wants change her mind. When Mariah challenges Harrison to a bet that if he spends 1-year without sex, he can have 1-night with her. This is a well written story which has witty banter and is an entertaining and humorous page turner. I look forward to reading more from this author and I recommend this story.
I'm not always a fan of the reformed man w**** as a hero, but I really enjoyed this one because the H and h formed a legitimate relationship before they got together. The H didn't just suddenly stop sleeping around because he hooked up one time with the h. He formed real feelings besides lust. This book worked really well being primarily from the H (and his penis) POV, with a small insite into the h's thoughts via texts between herself and her sister. Can't wait for the next one!
I received a free copy of this book and am leaving a voluntary review.
This is another book that I started reading holding my nose.
Pu$$y Magnet despite its cringe worthy title is a decent friends to lovers romance. I found the story rather humorous in parts, which is something that is missing in a lot of "serious" romances.
The sex is mostly safe, until the couple decide that they are a monogamous committed couple. The sex is fairly vanilla, and other sex acts are mentioned but not done. About the kinkiest thing the couple does is have a no condom quickie in the boat house. YMMV
While I enjoyed Pu$$y Magnet and would like to read another story with the MCs, I did not enjoy it enough to purchase another book. I would read another free book from this author.

A new sport to add to my sports romance list. Harrison is part of a crew team and Mariah(Sparky) is the Cox. So get ready for some sexy word play, steam and laughs. He can have any woman he wants. A bet with Sparky puts his “perfect junk” on hold. He wants her, she wants him but they can’t mess up synergy of the team. Written from mostly Harrison’s POV. There is also fun texts with Sparky and her sister. Cute story.
Sparky and Steele's story is hot, sexy and HOT! Their chemistry is off-the-charts since the beginning and their banters are funny to read and I enjoy their encounters a lot. Steele is cocky but he is so sweet with Sparky. Usually I want to read a dual POV because I want to understand both main characters but the author writes the book so good I don't feel boring at all even if she only writes Steele's POV so it is easy to give the book 5 stars.
Cute story, moved quickly. Steele and Sparky. ( AKA Mariah) Loved the characters. Hated the nick name “Sparky”. No explanation on that. Would have liked more development. His penis talking was cute sometimes, weird others. Loved the texts between sisters. All in all a Ok story
This was book one of the Titans of tech series. This was a very quick enjoyable funny and sexy read. The Titan boys are very funny and have a great back and forth banter. Mariah is a very independent strong female that wants to do things her way. Steele is a man who knows what he wants and he wants Sparky! This was a very enjoyable read. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series!
Omg this book had me laughing so much it hurt. The POV from 3 characters was just to much and I’m laughing again thinking about the 3rd POV. Steele is a manwhore who needs a woman to warm his bed every night but when Sparky makes him a bet he starts to realize it’s not a new woman he wants, it’s her.
