From acclaimed author Kenji Jasper comes an edgy, gripping new novel that asks if family life turns a hustler soft - or just hardens his heart...
Life on the darker streets of D.C. can turn a clean kid grimy. Snow was one of those good kids - until a gang killed his next door neighbor and he decided to settle the score. But doing what he thought was right only plunged him deeper in a deadly game. Now he's a killer for hire, a grown man who's willing - and able - to do anything necessary to survive. But even a cold-blooded hit man has a heart...
When Snow falls in love and becomes a father, he's more willing than ever to do what it takes to support his woman and his baby girl. But what that means for a hit man and what it means for a family man are two very different things. When the clash between his home life and his street life threatens to explode, Snow decides to make one last score to put his family on easy street, and get out of the game. But as much as he wants to break out, there's someone just as dangerous, and just as determined to keep Snow right where he is...

Not really the type of book I usually read, but it's set in DC so it's kind of fun to see so many references to places I know in a book.

The book is about a young male who starts dealing drugs and stealing and becomes increasingly more violent. When he marries and becomes a father he has to start evaluating his life choices.

I'm starting to really like Vibe books and I'm officially on the hunt for more. I read Death Around the Corner by C-Murder and loved it months ago. Without knowing anything about Jasper or that this book had anything to do with Vibe I ordered it..... and found it was every bit as good as C-Murder's book.
This isn't, by any means, your average street-lit book. Not at all. This book could only be found boring or "not good" by someone who doesn't get it IMO. Open this and you're not going to just get the name brand dropping, all perfect figured, characters that you find in every other book. You're not going to find most of the things you find in urban fiction today.
This is more like really good general fiction in an urban perspective. That isn't to say there is nothing unrealistic here. There is. There is actually a lot that's unrealistic but while some of the actions and situations aren't something that normal people go through every day Jasper managed to be a real true spin on things.
I loved the thinking process of the main character, Snow. That had to be the best part for me. The fact that Snow became a father and that this was a big part of the story did a lot for me too.
I can't wait to find some more Vibe books and I also can't wait to read another Kenji Jasper book.

Honestly, I couldn't put this book down. Not sure why, but it sucked me in within the first 5 minutes of reading. I decided to read the book because it was recommended at the end of Murder Around the Corner by C-Murder. It wasn't as good as MATC. Some parts of the book were a little (a lot) far-fetched but overall, it was good. Death Around the Corner
