My kids have spent many a happy hour on Roblox – Roblox being a free, multiplayer game with many different game modes on it. They’ve also watched a lot of Roblox videos on YouTube. They even have some Roblox toys. Therefore this book is a good buy for them.

They also have the Roblox annual 2019 and this is similar in content. In fact looking at the contents page you have returning features such as “Top 10 most-played games on Roblox” (4 of the top 10 are the same games), “Roblox Calendar”, “Games you may have missed”, “nth Annual Bloxy Awards”, “Hottest Roblox Trends” and a few more.

So you may want to get the 2019 annual for cheaper given they are similar (albeit this annual is already reasonably priced, but annuals do tend to drop in price past Christmas). Also this annual, despite saying 2020 on the front, seems a little dated already with a feature on the RDC (Roblox Developer Conference) 2018 and the Roblox calendar also referencing Jan-Dec 2018. But despite features being similar to last year’s annual the content is different with the pictures and text differing.

Also the book is relatively short. It contains only 72 pages. None of the pages are filler though – for example none of the pages are just a big picture that can be used as a poster, or a colouring page or something similar. All pages have written content but at the same time include full colour pictures so definitely suit child readers and non-readers.

Sections of interest include games you may have missed, which should help my kids expand their Roblox experience, the creator challenge sections, which could help them get into the game creation side via Roblox Studio, and also the top 10 played games on Roblox, which includes some games they are familiar with and that they will enjoy reading about. At the end there is the obligatory Merch section too (just like last year), something they will drool over before being told they are not getting any.

All-in-all this is something that Roblox fans will enjoy and is an affordable Christmas present for them. Alternatives are the 2019 annual (as mentioned above) or the Roblox “Top Games” books where they present the top 40 Adventure/Role-Playing/Battle/[Insert genre] games in one book, ideal for finding out about new Roblox games. The other alternative is buying them Robux, the in-game currency used for buying the premium content (and which is certainly something my kids have been asking for before again being told no). 4-stars.
