Rate this book

A relentless investigator bent on uncovering the truth.

David Orlando is a private detective who is having an early mid-life crisis. Investigating petty crimes committed by petty people has worn him down emotionally. And his current case, investigating a bitter divorce of two of his college friends, is not helping. The case has ugly secrets that won't help his mental state.

But another case is brought to him. Lyndon Richardson was the reformist mayor of the small town of Linwood Springs, when he and a friend were killed in a hit-and-run accident. The murders have never been solved, and Richardson's son wants one last shot at finding his father's killer. Orlando quickly discovers the mayor was an honest and decent man, who had reformed a small town. The more he learns about the basic courage and decency of the late mayor, the more he wants to find the killer.

Following a twisted, murderous trail into the past, he discovers something he never expected to find - redemption.

A chilling whodunit of family secrets, love gone wrong, and a cold case that refused to stay buried.

I received a free electronic copy of this self-published novel from TheFussyLibrarian and James Kipling. I have read this novel of my own volition, and this review reflects my personal, honest opinion of this work. Thank you for sharing your hard work with me. I am pleased to recommend this work to friends and family. Kipling has a good mystery line and well-developed characters. The occasional conversation seems at times stilted, but that could just be me...

David Orlando is a PI in Winchester Beach, FL. David is feeling burned-out, and considering retiring from private investigations while he is all caught up on cases. Then he gets a call from Sasha, a long time friend, and the wife of his college roommate. Sasha looks ill, is too thin and has a mouse under her eye. She wants him to him find out if Martin is cheating on her. Within hours of taking that on, he is approached about another case, one with the challenge of proving a death from twenty-five years ago was murder rather than accidental. Before he knows it, he is knee-deep in work. And he remembers why he took it on, to begin with.
