"Tonight, I will master every inch of you. And you will probably feel the urge to beg me to stop, but you won’t, will you?”
I was raised a princess, but a witch’s curse would seal my fate. Only one man dared to marry me—the future king of the fae.
I’m a long way from home.
In this palace, there is no freedom, no solitude. I am his possession. Corseted and gilded, or stripped and bound—either way, I’m his to claim. Anytime. Anywhere. It is the role of the king to dominate his bride, publicly and often. I am the living symbol of his strength. But there is no denying his charm and the power he holds to make me crave him. Even as it leads me to the most dreadful event of all—the day I must submit to him before the eyes of the entire court.
However, he has a secret of his own. A secret that will lead me into the arms not just one men, but two at once—my beloved King Augustus and our loyal guard, Count Axel. A forbidden love none of us can turn away from.
The witch who cursed me lurks in the shadows, ready to destroy us all.
The Surrender of Sleeping Beauty was inspired by the life of Marie Antoinette and my love of fairy tales with a sensual twist. It contains intense sexual scenes and some darker themes, along with much decadence, gardens and gowns, and a happily ever after that is both bitter and sweet.
This series was originally published as the Queen of the Sun Palace and collects the following three books: BOOK ONE: PRISONER OF SILK BOOK TWO: PRISONER OF MIRRORS BOOK THREE: PRISONER OF DREAMS
Lidiya Foxglove grew up on a steady diet of fairy tales, folklore and fantasy and also reads way too much manga. Fantasy romance is her favorite thing in the world, but she likes it steamy. She also loves cats and tea--it's cliche for a reason!
This set of three books weaves an interesting mix of the fairy tale of Sleeping Beauty and the historical tale of the French Revolution, tied together with the author's love of the fae world. Although asserted to be dark, I didn't find it so. Mildly kinky, but not really dark, it carries you along on an intriguing ride. It's well written with very good character and storyline development. And, as with all good fairy tales, in the end love conquers all.
The writing wasn’t bad, although, there were some typos and grammar mistakes. The dialogues and characters were lacking in many ways, and it could get over-descriptive regarding clothing and architecture. The ending was smart but depressing, quite bittersweet. I hated it.
This trilogy was truly a unique take on the Sleeping Beauty story. The reimagining of a historical event such as the French Revolution and Marie Antoinette was really interesting. The fantasy world of fairytales was intricately woven with facts from history. Sleeping Beauty is my favorite of the fairytales and I love to see it retold with such imagination. I loved Rose, Augustus and Axel. All of these characters were morally gray, which I enjoyed. And the end was a bittersweet HEA.
So I ugly cried at the end… Sighhhh. It’s a very dark and spicy Sleeping Beauty as advertised. But I loved it for many reasons. The characters, the relationships, and world building were all yummy. The connections to previous tales in the Fairy Tale Heat Series was soooo much fun!!! The unique take on the classic Sleeping Beauty story was intriguing and engaging. I think I will pursue more series by Ms Foxglove.

This trip of books was a delight to read. At first I was unsure when Axel came into the picture but it seemed to work out in its own way. The similarities with Marie Antoinette were well done. Good character and plot development.
The premise of the book was intriguing and interesting. Ms. Foxglove, Comprised her own interesting take on Sleeping Beauty. Struggled whether to give it three stars or four stars. Really interesting concepts, but once you got further into the story it was like watching bad actors ! Wish it was darker and less cheesy verbiage .
Epic fantasy. I read all three in a row, so it seemed quite long, but very engrossing. I know for some it was a happy ending, but it seemed a little sad to me... very good though
An interesting mashup of fairy tale and history, it was a good read. Since this is a collection, I didn’t mind the cliffhangers since they melted into one another. Very readable.
