This nonfiction book in a series of 8, explores the haunting of Raynham Hall by the spirit of Lady Dorothy Walpole. Early pictorial dates back to 1936, but the construction on the palatial estate started back in the 1620's the 1800's. The e-book has pictures that helps the factual content of historical dates and time periods and even the 1936 ghostly photo. As with all books in this series, this also gives glimpses into other ghost stories such as Windsor Castle and Amityville, fostering learner motivation to search other ghostly stories if this is what students love reading about. As always, the book offers several different sites for further exploration again fostering learner motivation. Great for the spooky month of October and to inspire kids to read more nonfiction.

The brown lady of Raynham Hall in England is my third Cousin. Her story is really fascinating. Unfortunately, this book doesn’t dive into her backstory. If you get a chance, look into Vicountess Dorothy Walpole and her husband Charles “The Turnip” Townshend.
