Rebecca Hunter thought being one of only a hundred people in the world with super powers would be amazing, especially since she can transport to anywhere on the globe. But in Becca ‘s time with Project Lightning she’s lost one friend, another was taken, and another decimated her trust. And that all happened during her first and only operation.
They might have found what they were looking for on their mission, but it was only a small piece of a terrifying puzzle. The missing children of agents with Project Lightning aren’t being kidnapped for ransom, but for something much worse.
Becca is willing to sacrifice herself to find her friend and the children, and she’ll crisscross the world in order to do it. But the closer she and the other agents get to finding them, the more they realize that someone at Project Lightning is playing both sides.
It’s never been so dangerous to be extraordinarily rare.
So I actually started reading this right when I finished the first one, but then life happened and I couldn't pick it back up until the other day.
Cons:
× Okay, so, I'm not entirely comfortable with Becca and Gregory's relationship. Why, you might ask? Because Becca is 17 and Gregory is 20. It doesn't help that Gregory starts eyeballing her in this book in a lowkey suggestive manner (it only happened once but still) just makes me...uncomfortable. Ironically enough, grooming is even brought up by another character in her backstory. Gregory isn't a bad guy or anything, in fact, he's pretty respectful in giving Becca space when she wants/needs it. But I just wish that the author had made Becca 18 instead of 17. I understand it's not that much of an age difference but, uh, you know...just saying...Gregory could get in a LOT of trouble in certain places over this.
× Okay, so I'm not sure why Becca can share a person's ability (when she touches them). She can teleport , but that doesn't explain why she has another ability on top of that. I feel like the author is setting her up to be super special and I'm just not for it. This trope of making the MC in books super duper special/rare has become tiresome for me personally. And Becca is already special . She doesn't need to be MORE special.
× So...what's the point of Tiberius only having it so that if someone is in his house, any tracking devices are rendered useless? Like, for the scene that happened, yeah it works. But then you just start thinking and realize that apparently anyone with a tracking device would be able to literally walk directly into their secret town, up to his house and give the location away without having to step foot inside.
Pros:
× Just like the first book, this makes for a light and easy read. The book is the perfect length and has enough details for you to understand the idea or visualize the picture without hordes of unnecessary descriptions and filler.
× This series so far is gold in getting me to doubt whether my hunches/theories are correct. Some of them seem pretty obvious, but then I catch myself and wonder...is THAT actually the right thing or is it this lowkey thing I noticed earlier a possiblity? In most books, I either feel left in the dark or can guess five steps ahead. Here it feels like I'm along for the ride as the characters themselves go through it.
× I love the cover, especially the back. But I'm just a sucker for the colors purple and black.
× I love how Becca still misses and visits her grandparents, even with things so chaotic and messed up going on around her. Even with her new friends, her new life, her love interest, she still cares about her grandparents and makes time to see them, even if it's only for a few minutes. I will always appreciate a MC who misses and thinks about those from her old life when she's got a new life.
× Raven can talk to animals and I love it.
× And yes, sadly I don't think Ania is coming back. But it works here because there are a few emotional scenes that mention her and the fact she died in the last book really works for how these were in this installment.
I am obsessed with this story. The drive of the characters and their story is so well imagined. I have stayed up yet again to an unreasonable hour because I could not stop! I will finish the third book by tomorrow night I’m sure. Thank you Pam Eaton for writing a series this addicting. Can’t wait to read more!
Powerful emotions in this book. The protagonist experiences blow after blow , but keeps on going, trying to do what is right. Loved it, can’t wait for Eaton to release the next in the series.
I am really loving this series. It is not like most supers stories,it is more about the people and what they do, not about how many powers they have. Off to read next book in series.👍
A fast paced adventure with supernaturals. So much is expected of Becca but the author has her teenage character just right as fairly naive, learning fast that life can be bad and then coming to terms with it, but ignoring the advice of those with more experience. The other characters aren’t as developed but I’m sure there will be more in the next book. I don’t much like cliffhanger endings and waiting for the next book but l will read it when it’s published
The Blessed Many is a young adult fantasy, a sequel to The Extraordinary Few, involving a group of young adults with super human powers. In this second book we follow the group after a tragic mission, traveling the world, in an attempt to rescue kidnapped fellow agents and children. As the protagonist Rebecca Hunter learns more about her growing powers, and the powers of her fellow agents, they are in a race to find the children and learn why they were kidnapped.
There is suspense and intrigue, as Becca finds out more about her deceased parents and the powers she inherited upon their deaths. There is a traitor in the group and time is running out.
This book is an exciting addition to the series and I look forward to the conclusion in next book.
