Kane is the first book in the Coven’s End series by L.A. Boruff and Lia Davies, and you’ll be draw into the story immediately from the amazing prologue.
Kane is the heir to the Vampire throne. But after some attacks on vampires and lycans, and his need to find out what’s happening, his life will be uprooted when he finally sees his fated mate again and everything finally slams into place.
For his mate Jillian, the future high alpha, well things are complicated for her as well. She won’t only have one mate, but 3 fated mates.
The story is really well, written, with character POV’s which are very distinct from each other. The backstories of the characters and how they interrelate are really well detailed as well.
Overall this story will have characters you’ll love, some you’ll definitely hate and a fee drool worthy ones as well.
I highly recommend the first book in this series, and can wait to read the second book - Voss.
I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest! It was a great book ! Kane is the vampire prince Jillian is the lyncan princess Their attraction is undeniable. However, acting on their attraction is forbidden. Loved the characters + the storytelling ! It has all the ingredients that you need for a great book! I can't wait for the next book in this series.
This is book one of the Coven’s End series and the main character is Kane Webb, Lillith’s son and the only heir to the Vampire crown. He has been raised to be the Vampire King all of his life and his father, who he has never met, is Lucien aka Lucifer. His mother wants him to mate with Trinity, a fellow vampire, who he has known most of his life, having been raised with her since her parents were killed by lycans. She is like his sister, but has changed over the last few years and gotten very pushing in trying to make him mate with her against his will. He doesn’t like her in that way at all and she refuses to get the message! To make it even worse, he has met his fated mate without her realising, in a bar some three years before. She is someone The Blood, who rule their type, would never accept as she is a lycan, their mortal enemies. She is also due to take over as High Alpha to the lycan pack, from her father. He would love to mate with her and bring their two people together and form an alliance in peace, but their rules means he would be kicked out of the coven if he even dared to talk about it. Mixing with other kinds is completely forbidden!
Someone has formed a group to attack both vampires and lycans, in their own homes, where they should have felt safe. Both groups believe that the peace accord between their kinds have been broken, but evidence soon comes out that the attackers were human and very well trained. They seemed to know exactly when and where to attack, shocking everyone. Jillian went with her guards to check out the lycan attack site, after the enforcers had cleared the site and checked for evidence. She has a very useful inherited skill that allows her to see what happened, by reading all the emotions and actions that took place, almost like a movie in her head. The older the scene, the more faded what she sees and senses will be. Jillian is fortunate that her father wants her to marry and mate for love, like he did, even if she can’t find her fated mate. She already has felt a pull towards two other lycans in their pack, both very close to her, but didn’t know how to choose between them. Kane and Jillian meet and she finds the pull towards him even harder to resist than that to her two guards. Both Kane and Jillian will have to face their parents as the secret relationship is revealed, Kane’s by the betrayal of someone close to him, direct to his mother, and Jillian’s as a matter giving her father a bit of the information. Kane has done all he can to live up to his mother’s wishes and to always be the protector of his coven, but even he can’t ignore his fated mated when she appears right in front of him and feels the same! Lots for them both to deal with and it won’t be easy, as further attacks finally reveal one of the traitors.
She hired a private group of human soldiers with impeccable training and watched as their gunfire took down the Lycans. She felt very satisfied that they had gotten what they deserved. The humans knew her only as “Commander” and they asked no questions. She watched as they entered a Lycan home and killed a woman and 3 men. Commander, a vampire, wished she could smell their blood, but the Lycans were excellent trackers and she didn’t want to be identified yet. Even the children were murdered. She was only getting started, dispensing justice and issuing a warning. As soon as dawn broke, she would do the same thing to the vampires when they settled down to sleep.
Lilith turned to her son and told him, “You will choose a mate, and then take the throne.” The power in her words made sure he would have to obey. What she didn’t know was that when he became the High King of the vampires, there were going to be changes. He had already met his one true fated mate, but he couldn’t tell his mother and he couldn’t claim his mate. Vampires and Lycans had warred with each other forever, it seemed. He had found his mate at a bar. When he caught her scent, his guard identified her as Jillian, the Lycan princess, only heir to the High Alpha. That definitely meant “hands off”! He was a prince and the law said he had to take a vampire mate when he took the throne. His mother wanted him to marry Trinity, but she was Kane’s childhood best friend, a sister to him, and there would never be romantic feelings. His mother could not take a mate because she was tied to Lucifer. So only Kane could resolve this. For now, she let it go. They needed to discuss the attack the previous night that killed an entire coven. An entire bloodline was gone. And the Lycans would pay for this!
This is a very exciting read! It opens with a mystery for the reader – who is trying to start a war between Lycans and Vampires? Why? Kane and Jillian will need to work together to discover their common enemy. But they also have to fight the bond that tries to pull them together as fated mates. Jillian has two other potential mates to complicate things. And Kane has the jealous Trinity who would like to be his mate. How will this be resolved? There is so much going on in this story. With a fast story line and strong characters involved in a dangerous mystery, you won’t go wrong with this one. Grab your copy and see where it will lead!
I picked this up as a freebie a few weeks ago now as a book for my PR/UF A-Z Challenge on Goodreads after struggling to find books with certain letters (I'm still struggling to find J, N, Q, X, Y and Z. Any suggestions much appreciated).
So this one starts with a group of merc's taking down a houseful of wolf shifters and then going to take down a houseful of vampires at the orders of a mystery someone. Then we meet Kane who's in a meeting with the Blood - the ruling council - and his mum, Lilith, as they try and get him to pick a mate so he can take the vampire throne. He doesn't want to mate with just anyone, especially when he's already found his true mate, werewolf princess, Jillian. He goes to investigate the site of the murders and bumps into Jillian, who finds out he is her fated mate and the fun begins.
I wasn't sure with how short this was that the story would progress enough for me but I was pleasantly surprised. We learn quite a lot about the werewolves and the vampires and I grew to like the main four characters though we only see things from Kane and Jillian's POV.
It is a serial with each book named after a different person in their harem and the story continuing throughout so be warned - we don't find out who was behind the killings in this one. I have to admit I am intrigued to find out what happens next with these four and to see who was behind the killings.
This is really interesting. This is the first book in the series and a prequel rolled into one. At least that's how I kinda saw it. I'm familiar with reverse harems and like them if done right. Jillian is the Princess of wolves and Kane is the Prince of Vampires. They both have obligations and are being hounded to find mates. Okay so mainly Kane is being hounded by his counsel and Mother. Jillian's Father High Alpha wants her to be happy and if she doesnt mate and wants to go it alone he's good with it. Now vampires and wolves have been on opposite sides for years. Its a constant battle and this new threat although its assumed each side is to blame come to find out they are not. Can they work together on this common foe? Are Jillian and Kane doomed to never mate because its forbidden? A couple other chinks in the chain is her 2 sentries feel the mating pull towards her and them her. Sooo its deliciously complicated.
This ends on a hell of a cliffhanger but alas the other books are available I believe. Which I'll get checking out. I do think a little more could have been done with the story because it seemed things happened really fast almost too fast. I dont mean the mating either. The story moved too quick and there are too many variables that are left unanswered. Perhaps they are answered in the other books. Which there seem to be 3 more.
Two royals. Destined for each over. Completely wrong for each other. How did the universe aline the stars for two fated mates that are both completely different species. The Vampire Prince Kane & The Lucan Princess Julian are both expected to decide on a mate. Fated Mate’s are a myth, hardly anyone finds there’s, until now. Kane has tried to keep his distance. Jillian already has two potential mates she is struggling to pick between & now added into the mix is her fated mate. Kane has a jealous potential mate who he has no intention of marrying, and starts to take her revenge. Amongst this highly strung situation someone decides to break the accords between the species to push a war between them. This is how Jillian finally meets Kane, instantly recognising the fated mate signs . Lia Davis & L.A.Boruff have made an explosive book, both mentally & physically. The storyline keeps, you turning the pages. The suspense of who is attacking each species to the suspense of Kane & Jillian being drawn to each other and the utter destruction that could cause. This is going to be one of those series that will keep drawing you back for more.
The first book in this new serial-style series from Lia Davis quickly introduces us to the worlds of the werewolves and the vampires. Distrustful of each other for what seems to have been forever, an unknown force is now trying to bring hostilities into an all-out war. I don't see too much of the person stirring up trouble and killing tons of werewolves and vampires, and Davis does a good job of showing just enough that of them that I really want to know who it is
Kane is the vampire prince, but in order to take his place on the throne, his mother expects him to have a mate first, Problem is, he's pretty sure his mother won't approve of his true mate - his heart and soul cry out for the werewolf princess.
The book sets us up for a bit of adventure, an interesting mix of a menage, and several conflicts to stand in their way. And let's not forget about the potential war brewing in the background, present enough that I never forgot about it, but never fully overshadowing the romance aspects.
**I voluntarily read a complimentary copy of this book**
One vampire prince. One Lycan princess. Forbidden mates. Their people have a long history as enemies. Now both have been attacked. Open war has never been so close. But the attacks didn't come from each other. They have a common enemy. They need to work together but if they acknowledge their bond, they stand to lose everything. Add in a couple of Lycan guards and it becomes even more complicated.
I was sucked in from the beginning. Kane and Jillian. These two are undeniable. They can't fight the bond. And they are hot together! Such a perfect balance. I can't wait to add in Quid and Voss. Forget about leading the Lycan and vampires, I would be happy for these four to go off script and just disappear together. However, someone needs to pay for the brutal killings. Men, women, children, babies all slaughtered. A deceptive plan. I think I know who is behind it all and if right I look forward to justice being served.
What a great story that caught my attention from the beginning all the way to the end. Coven's End: Kane tells the story of one vampire prince, a lycan princess, and how they are forbidden mates. These clans have been enemies for a long time. With tension high and misunderstanding happening, War is so very close. But when they are forced to work together to find out who is attacking them, the two main characters cannot acknowledge their bond, or they could loose everything. Will they give in to their bond, no matter the consequence or will they give up on their chance to be with their mate?
Kane's story is fast paced, with lots of suspense, steamy romance, with a storyline that will keep you intrigued until the end. The characters have great chemistry, and complimented each other well. What a great start to a new series!!!
This is a brand new series by an author I love. Kane is a Vampire Prince who's been trained to one day lead not only his own coven but ALL vampire covens. Jillian is a Werewolf Princess who will, like Kane one day lead not only her Own Pack but become High Alpha and rule ALL packs. Although Kane found Jillian one day by accident he managed to steer clear of her for a year until a chance meeting has Jillians Wolf alert to the presence of her mate. To add the icing on the cake she also gas the mating urge for her 2 guards. What will happen? Will the Blood (aka vampire council) and James mother allow him to rule with a wolf for a Mate? Will Jillian be forced to choose out of them? Read this book to find out
Even with a treaty in place, vampires and lycans don't get along. So what happens when the lycan Princess finds out she's mated to the vampire High Prince? And maybe 2 lycans as well?? Follow along on this interesting and fast-paced serial to see what happens. Oh, did I mention there's a group of humans out to annihilate them all?
I really enjoyed the first book in this new vampire/lycan serial by Lia Davis and L.A. Boruff. The characters are interesting (this book focuses mainly on Kane (vampire prince) and Jillian (lycan princess), the danger is exciting, and the smexy-times are hot enough to melt your ereader.
*Please note: this is book 1 of a 4-part serial. Each novella ends in a cliff-hanger that picks up in the next book.*
Kane is going to be new King of the Vampires, but his mother won't let it go until he finds a mate. But he doesn't want just anybody, and mom wants him to choose the one person he feels that is his little sister. But one night Kane is shocked to find his one true mate Jillian but there's no way he can have. Because she is the daughter of the High Alpha, a Lycan princess, the only heir. Throw in the fact that she has other possible mates out there, someone who wants the Lycans and a Vampire war, those who don't want Kane and Jillian together and more. Put it together with danger, and things are getting hot and heavy, it makes a person want to keep reading and reading and more reading. Great start to a series
If this book is going in the direction I really think it is, I don't know that I actually need to continue reading this series. Starting out it kind of has an Underworld vibe to the book. Lycans and Vampires are enemies. There's no middle ground when it comes to these two species. But what happens when fate steps in and changes everything these two species thought they knew.
I'm really disappointed that this book literally stops in the middle of a scene and leaves readers questioning what is to happen next. It might not have been so bad for the story to end on a cliffhanger had it not just stopped right after each admitting feelings about each other, oh and dropping the bomb about Kane having to give up his birth right.
This book started out very murderous and dark, so I was not sure if I would even want to read the book. But I am glad I did the beginning story of Kane and Jillian is a quick read and yes there are lots of questions unanswered. A war is coming from an unknown source, a fated mate between a Vampire and a wolf – UNHEARD of and forbidden! This book just wet my appetite for what is coming next for Kane, Jillian, Voss and Quin. The story flowed very well and there was no filler in the story it was straight to the point and you knew everything that was going on. One thing I do not like about cliffhangers is you really get into the story then it just stops. So just keep that in mind when reading this book it does just stop.
Kane: A Collective World Story (Coven's End Book 1) By Lia Davis, L.A. Boruff. 4.5 Stars
You just Gotta Love a book with a story inside that gets you so engrossed in it that you forget the time?, Then you get gobsmacked when the next page you turn emerges as the ending and is continued with a great cliffhanger!!! Man this is one of those kind of stories, lol.
Jillian, Kane, Quin and Voss, are mortal enemies on one hand, a prince, princess, three lycans, one vampire on the other hand. Those combinations start a really cool story that begins in here.
I have voluntarily read and I'm voluntarily reviewing this book. Reviewer for Nook Books and More Blog.
You love all the typical tropes of urban fantasy. Oh No, if there is a war the humans will figure out we exist. Opposites Attract. The heirs to the Vampire throne & Lycan throne are 'fated mate's '. The Lycan princess is metaphorically drawn to TWO Lycan sentries AND the Vampire Prince. Did I mention Kane is Lucifer's son? Then throw in a rogue vampire leading human mercenaries to annihilate the coven and pack. NOW... All these things are why I didn't like the book. It's just too much story in such a small package. I want development over time. The adult content went from hot to gross and back at a mind numbing pace. SO....all this leaves me undecided if I'll more in this series.
This book wasn't too bad. I liked where it was going in the beginning but it pattered off and became a cliché cheesy romance at around 70%. The story really jumped the gun too quickly once Jillian and Kane got to "know" each other. Trinity's character was flat and instead of disliking her, I felt completely apathetic. For a series that is four books long, I was surprised at the lack of character development in book one. It would have been nice to see some more struggle and apprehension between the mates. Kane's big problem was too abrupt and felt melodramatic. Tge story just didn't have any guts and instead was going through the motions. The next three books might be excellent but my TBR is too long to pay for another "okay" story.
I loved the way the story was written to the point that I'm planning on binging the whole series before the weekend is over. (Or at least that's what I'm hoping to do.)
The story follows the well loved cliché of vampire and werewolf are fated mates but the rules tell them that they can't be together. All the good stuff that you look for in a quick supernatural romance. The part that I like about this book is that it only focuses on two people at a time in a reverse harem romance. Each man gets the spotlight without having to share it with the other two guys.
There's also a twist at the end but I won't spoil that for you! Go read the book! Or if you'd like, feel free to read about what I has to say about it on my blog!
Warning this is the first book in a series about a lycan princess named Jillian, her two sentries Voss and Quinn, as well as the vampire prince named Kane. The book ends in a partial cliffhanger as these four try to figure out the mate pull as well as figure out why a human military group is after both vampire and lycan. The book was okay but I didn't know that this was a RH series, so I will wait until the other books come out to read the rest. If you are looking for a short story and don't mind the wait then I suggest you go for it. It was an interesting beginning and it left me hungry for more.
Not sure how I hadn’t already read this series, but I devoured all the books in this one fairly quick! Jillian is the heir to the Lycan throne and she discovers that she is a fated mate to Kane who is the heir to the Vampire throne. Their bonding is against the rules, and not only that, but she feels a pull to her two sentry guards, Voss and Quin. Can she make their growing love work? In addition, there is someone out there trying to pit the vampires and lycans against each other!
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This story has a lot going on but it's short so it really leaves you wanting more. There is a star crossed lovers situation going on with the vampire prince and the lycan princess as the groups are mortal enemies. Kane's mom is pressuring him to marry and become the ruler of the vampires. However, he doesn't want anything to do with it as he's met his fated mate and can't have her. With a new enemy killing people on both sides, Kane has to figure out how to save his people. Love or duty? There is explicit adult content.
Vampires and Lycans. Their very nature leads them toward a mutual contempt. But a fated mating between two royals, from either side could either allow for peace amongst both their species or all out war. But...if this werent bad enough, the lycan princess could potentially be matched with not just the vampire prince but also her 2 sentries. This first book, Kane, is short with an introduction into their world giving some background on the characters with a good build throughout. I look forward to reading the next 3 books to see where the story takes us.
I’m so glad I’m reading this as the omnibus edition and can start reading the next as soon as I finish the last, because that cliff at the end is both abrupt and steep. I wanted to say that this story is a little like Underworld crossed with Romeo and Juliet, but Underworld itself was already a little Romeo and Juliet to begin with. I have an idea who the real villain is and now I can’t wait to read more to find out if I’m right. I received a complimentary copy of this book through Booksprout as part of the box set.
This is the first story in the Coven’s End, which is quite phenomenal. Author Lainie Anderson is an amazing author and writer. Each book that I have read by her has had been completely captivating from the beginning all the way through. This book is no different, I completely enjoyed reading it and couldn’t get enough of the book. I definitely would reread this book. I would certainly give this book as a suggestion for anyone to read.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
So far so good, this fast paced story is filled with plenty of intrigue, suspense, and of course steamy romance to keep you hook from beginning to end. Just when things were starting to get good your hit with a cliffhanger ending. So looking forward to seeing what else is in store for this series. Overall a enjoyable and entertaining read and a great start for a new series. I voluntarily read and review this ARC no monetary compensation was received the opinions I have expressed are my own.
I love Kane. He has known he is Jillian fated mated for a few years before Jillian realizes it. He has tried so hard to deny the feelings but when Jillian finds out things change. However; Jillian also feels the pull for Quinn and Voss. Oh and don't forget Lycans and Vampires aren't allowed to mate. Will they choose love? Kane is all out there for those he loves and so accepting of Quinn and Voss. Now they must try and work together to fight a common enemy. I can't wait to read more.
This is a beginning for a series that will catch your attention. It is also short and sweet just enough to get you into it and enough to keep you waiting for more. Jillian does have her plate full in more ways than one. Some of the delicious is Kane whom they will not be in denial after a moment. Oh the barriers though that will push the drama button. Don't let yourself become too overheated there is more scrumptious to come.
