Worldwide research, interviewing key witnesses and discussing the subject with astronauts, military and intelligence specialists, pilots, politicians and scientists, has established Timothy Good as a leading authority on UFOs and the alien presence - the most highly classified subject on Earth.

He became interested in the subject in 1955, when his passion for aviation and space led him to read a book by Major Donald Keyhoe describing UFO sightings by qualified observers such as military and civilian pilots. In 1961, after reading a book by Captain Edward Ruppelt, a U.S. Air Force intelligence officer, he began to conduct his own research. Since then, he has amassed a wealth of evidence, including several thousand declassified intelligence documents.

Timothy Good has lectured at universities, schools, and at many organizations, including the Institute of Medical Laboratory Sciences, the Royal Canadian Military Institute, the Royal Geographical Society, the Royal Naval Air Reserve Branch, the House of Lords All-Party UFO Study Group, and the Oxford and Cambridge Union societies. In January 1989, following the dissolution of the Soviet empire, he became the first UFO researcher from the West to be interviewed on Russian television. He was invited for discussions at the Pentagon in 1998, and at the headquarters of the French Air Force in 2002. He has also acted as consultant for several U.S. Congress investigations. He is known to millions through his numerous television appearances and has co-produced several documentaries on the subject.

Timothy Good's first book, Above Top Secret: The Worldwide UFO Cover-up (1987) became an instant bestseller, and is regarded widely as the definitive work on the subject, together with the fully revised and updated book replacing it, Beyond Top Secret: The Worldwide UFO Security Threat (1996), which remained for five weeks on the Sunday Times bestseller list. Alien Liaison: The Ultimate Secret (1991) spent thirteen weeks on the same bestseller list. Alien Base: Earth's Encounters with Extraterrestrials (1998) went to No.4 on the Guardian bestseller list. His book, Unearthly Disclosure: Conflicting Interests in the Control of Extraterrestrial Intelligence (2000) was serialized in the Daily Mail. He has also edited a number of books on the subject, including the bestselling Alien Update (1993). Four of these books have a foreword by Admiral of the Fleet The Lord Hill-Norton, former Chief of the Defence Staff and Chairman of the NATO Military Committee. Need to Know: UFOs, the Military and Intelligence (2006/2007) is now published in paperback in the U.K., U.S and Canada. Good’s latest work - EARTH: An Alien Enterprise – is due for publication by Pegasus Books (New York) in November 2013.

This seems to be more a compilation of articles, letters, and sightings that took place in the years 1991 and 1992. Sort of a Wikipedia article on "Aliens in 1991" before the internet was a thing.

It's dry, boring, wordy, and some of the letters are people defending themselves and their credentials from other people's letters who called them out for hoaxes.

I'm wondering if there is another one of these that covers 1993 and 1994? :)

If you're really into the whole UFO thing, whether authentically or ironically, you could probably easily bypass this book...unless your a gluttonous, self-punishing, completionist, like myself. :)

VARIOUS ESSAYS ON A VARIETY OF TOPICS

Author and Ufologist Timothy Good wrote in the Foreword to this 1993 book, “It is my conviction that NASA and the US intelligence community have proof (at a restricted level) that aliens have already landed on Earth and that contact has been established. The evidence suggests that large amounts of money are spent on top secret extraterrestrial research programs (funded by so-called ‘black’ budgets) in the United States, and information about these ‘Special Access Programs’ is so restricted that few have knowledge of them… That the results of top secret extraterrestrial investigations will break open eventually is a certainty. But will we all be pleased to know the results?”

An essay by George Wingfield says of Crop Circles, “a large pictogram was expertly hoaxed at Upton Lovell… One could scarcely fail to admire the craftsmanship and dexterity of the circle-fakers who had painstakingly reproduced many indicators of genuine circles. The deception, however, did not succeed. In the morning the great sham pictogram lay waiting in the fields like a Trojan horse ready to be discovered by CCCS. No one saw it, no one noticed, no one came; only the farmer, who failed to notice it initially, and then gave signs that he was about the harvest the field. At this juncture, our chief conspirator, horrified that the masterpiece might be destroyed before it had been seen by his intended victims, himself telephoned the contact number for reporting circles. In due course, certain researchers---but not the ones he was after---did arrive, as he waited with his camcorder to record their anticipated wonder and admiration. The Froxfield Fake was indeed right ‘over the top]… Shortly afterwards, the ringleader… telephoned me… I said it was a fake, that we knew who had done it, and that charges of criminal damage would shortly be brought by farmers against the hoaxers.” (Pg. 52-53)

John Spencer argues, “Suppose that [an] investigator examines the case and concludes that it proves an extraterrestrial, or even paranormal, origin of UFOs. What do we then have? Simply one more person who believes in an extraordinary origin of UFOs. With a world population of 3,000 million… that is hardly an efficient way of convincing people of the truth of UFOs. We need something more. We need evidence that can successfully be presented to others so that they, too, can be convinced.” (Pg. 88)

Dr. Samuel Grego noted of a February 1992 sighting, “The witnesses were ordinary people going about their daily lives at the time the sightings took place… They were not interested in telling their story for publicity and profit and they did not want their names released to the public... Two persons who were non-UFO believers were converted. Some of the witnesses had seen the movie, ‘Close Encounters of the Third Kind.’ Two had read a few books or articles on UFOs, or had heard something about them on television news stories. Eight enjoyed seeing the television series ‘Star Trek.’ Four enjoyed viewing television documentaries about UFOs, such as those presented by ‘Unsolved Mysteries.’ Two persons stated that they had psychic abilities.” (Pg. 128-129)

Linda Moulton Howe asks, “If genetic material is what the alien intelligence wants, why does it need so much over so many years? And why does it leave animals to be found with strange, bloodless excisions that provoke fear and anger?” (Pg. 200)

Bob Oechsler observes, “It is no longer surprising to me that Bob Lazar… has had extraordinary difficulty in validating his classified employment in the area of disc technology. [Jerold] Johnson and [Armen] Victorian were unable to validate my Unclassified employment with NASA and resorted to apparent debunking tactics. For example, Johnson phoned NASA’s Public Affairs Office at the Goddard Space Flight Center and was informed that ‘The title “mission specialist” is not something that is used abound here; that’s a title that NASA gives to an astronaut!’ This implies, of course, that I had lied about or misrepresented my credentials. Had Johnson bothered to call me on the phone, I could have provided clarification. In the technical aspects of my former work at NASA in the mid-1970s we were referred to either as Operations Specialists or Mission Specialists. I worked mainly with Technical Mission Directives and was indeed referred to as a Mission Specialist. We had no contact with the Astronaut corps except through communications monitoring during missions. I was unaware of the UFO phenomenon during my tenure at NASA and thus consider my employment there as irrelevant to the issue.” (Pg. 205-206)

This book will be of some interest to those studying UFOs and related topics.

Always a cool read, after finishing it I went out looking for more details. Not a huge literature breakthrough, but a nice introduction into the UFO / alien field.
