Another lifelong dream, as with England, is Wales, a country with a fascinating history, its own language, gorgeous scenery, and a locale where it seems the past is always nearby, waiting to be explored. I learned much and am encouraged to discover even further (and intensified my desire to visit) through reading this compact guide to Wales.
My heritage is Welsh and I lived there for two years, so I have a lot if familiarity with its history and culture. The book is an overview of that history, but I felt the narrative wandered a lot. The last few pages were actually about the touristy aspect of Wales, which I thought was entirely out of place given the objectives of the book in its title. Regardless, I'm just happy to see something written about this land I love.
Book looks into history of Wales, but as I read the book I got impression that author was in the rush to finish the book, lots of information explained in very fast manner.Book needed some finishing touch.
....to Wales' colorful and enthralling history. I started reading this because I followed a branch of my family tree back to Wales and wanted to know more about the geographic country, the culture, the history and the people. This book was a great introduction to everything I was curious about.
