Truth or Dare

Rate this book
DI Helena Stratton has a new case on her hands, one that leaves her perplexed as to who is going around murdering people. With a handful of obvious suspects, it’s a case of narrowing it down to one. The problem is, everyone is so nice…

The killer is removing hearts, hacking them out as though it means nothing, but it means everything—to them, at least. Their past was such that their mind is twisted, and killing is the only way forward.

What is so important about the window?

What do the fox and crow mean?

And why is there rage inside the killer, so much so that they’ve created two sides of themselves—one called Nasty, the other known as Nice?

Helena aims to find out before the body count gets even higher…

A story that is gruesome at times, horrific incidents happen, lives are lost..But it all starts with a young child who is put through mental and physical abuse by the ones who are supposed to love and protect her...Parents who choose to give better snacks, clothes and more of their love to other children, calling her names, laughing at her, eventually she is sexually abused by her own father! The brain is growing quickly in your young years, and constant stress due to abuse will sometimes cause different personalities to develop to handle what the child is going through...So who's fault is the Result?..
A killer is removing from bodies the very thing that keeps people alive, their Heart..DI Helena Stratton has a new case on her hands, and every thing they find to investigate seems so off..strange...There are several suspects, Helena and her Team need to find the One..Meanwhile a woman has been struggling with Herself for years, trying to keep one side buried, she even calls the 'two' sides of herself by name..'NASTY' and "NICE'. Can she keep her quiet life,or will 'Nasty' take over..
An exciting story added to the DI Helena Stratton collection written by two fascinating authors who continue to take readers on a wild ride with every word they write!! The story will have You thinking about the way you treat others, and how you were treated as you grew up...

An elderly man is found not far from the pub where he has spent most of his time. DI Helena Stratton and her team are called on to investigate. What they find is that he was hit with something in the face, leaving holes and scratches. When they turned him over, they see that he is missing his heart ... and is nowhere to be found.

A day or so later, a young boy leaves school and heads for home ... walking through the woods hoping the boys who bully him unmercifully at school won't follow him. He never made it home. When his body is found, it's in the same condition as the elderly man's complete with a missing heart.

How are the man and the child connected? The killings are done in a murderous rage but who would have targeted these two victims?

Stratton her team do due diligence, questioning family, friends, co-workers, and coming up with very little. When they discover who their prime suspect is married to, the investigation goes into an entirely different direction.

And the body count keeps rising ..........

The reader learns early on who the killer is ... the why is told in bits of memories here and there. Well written, this is quite an engaging, riveting read with memorable characters. I read this one is almost only one sitting .... had me literally holding my breath.

Many thanks to the authors for the digital copy of this crime fiction. Read and reviewed voluntarily, opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.

I love it when this fabulous writing duo get together – you know you are going to be in for such a thrill and this one was dark, gruesome and very wicked – I absolutely loved it!!

The plot in this book was excellent, it is very well crafted and I loved how it progressed and brought the plot lines together. The book was dark and I loved the main characters – Rachel was brilliant, twisted and superbly created!!

This is the third book in the series but I think it would be fine to read as a standalone.

It is an excellent crime thriller and it is 5 stars from me for this one, it was brilliant, so well developed, with some brilliant and twisted characters – very, highly recommended!!

When DI Helena Stratton and her team are called out to a man found with his heart cut out, they know they have a grisly case to solve.
Why would anybody want to remove the heart and what possible reason could they have? With a few suspects to speak to, it really is a race against time before the killer strikes again.
This is a disturbing story with physical and mental abuse at its core, it is a difficult book to read. You can’t help but feel for the murderer in this story as you do get snippets through the book of their awful childhood. The story does make you stop and think about other people and how they deal with their pain. Excellent writing by this amazing duo.

A nerve wracking book that had me trying to second guess who the murderer was - to no avail.
DI Helena Stratton has her work cut out for her , literally, trying to find out why these bodies have their hearts removed.
A case that started out as physical abuse as a child and then in adulthood eventually controlling the mind sending it over the top.

Great storyline

Good characters, believable, sad in many ways, but so true as newspaper articles can prove. Vivid murder descriptions that might bother some folks, but i feel were necessary for the storyline. Will add this author to my fave list and look for more of her books, as should you.

Another excellent episode of this fascinating series,

there is obviously some outstanding research done in order for these themes to be so beautifully explained and categorized. A must for fans.

I will have to say that I never expected this series to end up being as good as it is, coming from what the first book was like but this series ended up amazing! Now I'm on to the last one in this series.
