- ENGLISH - Equipped with a lively imagination and always fascinated by myths and fantastic stories, I began to write poetry and short stories during education. The first ideas for my Fantasy trilogy "The Tears of the Unicorns" came to me at the spur of the moment during a little project - a role play - I did with my best friend. It was a love story between the elements of Water and Fire. This story finally inspired me to pick up the idea of elemental magic and create a mystic new world. In addition to writing, I am following my second major hobby - collecting Mangas - with great enthusiasm. I also draw in this style. My artistic talent was given to me by my father, a master goldsmith and successful painter of expressionistic paintings :) I specialize in drawings that represent light, peace and serenity and my fascination with magical beings also provides me with ideas for my drawings.
Professionally, I have also dedicated myself to the artistic sector. After school education I founded a small company for advertising design. In addition, I work at the Red Cross in Heilbronn driving the ambulance car and support my husband, a doctor and jazz musician, in the management of his practice and organize his musical activities.

The descriptions are profound and detailed put in words. The emotions described in this book are appreciable and comprehensible. The life of Eliya and ultimately her fate are very well described. It is really profound and charged with emotions, I felt sad when she felt sad, I was happy when she was. You almost believe to see yourself in her role even though you have nothing in common with that character. The author masters to fascinate the reader so that you cannot do other than somewhat bond with the character and feel for her and her fate. It is not just that you put yourself in her position … you live it as if you are the character yourself. The despair of Caylen when he loses his charge is deeply moving and reaches the heart of the reader. It also makes his feelings of hatred, which eventually manifest in his wish to destroy the world, understanding and comprehensible.
The author managed to create something special with this story and I can´t wait to get the second volume to continue my reading!
Tolles Buch, sehr temporeich erzählt. Rasche Perspektivwechsel, vile Charaktere, viele Namen.. Teil
I thought the story was going to be a typical "guardian angel falls in love with girl he is meant to protect" but the story ended up taking a turn into a potential apocalypse that I didn't see coming. There were some characters mentioned that I felt it wasn't really explained who they were/ what their importance is. I don't know if that comes into play later in the series but it bothered me to read about characters that I had no clue why they were even mentioned. Also, I felt the book jumped around to different characters and places too much to where it would become confusing. Lastly, I didn't like how the author added this "Jekyll and hyde" split to the main male angel at the very end of the book when there was no prior indication that this could even be a factor. Since when do angels have "other selves?"
I won this book thru a Goodreads Giveaway.

Unfortunately, I didn't like The Tears of the Unicorns. It was okay but I was quite confused through a lot of the book. This disappointed me as I was very interested in the story before I read it. I felt that it was quite an original story (compared to everything I've read anyway).
There were so many different narrators (particularly after Eliya's death) that I felt that I didn't really get to know any of the characters. The narrator would also change quite regularly with multiple narrators per chapter. This really confused me. This confusion led me to become a bit bored reading in places and I struggled to continue reading. The book may have been easier to read if each narrator was a separate chapter with the narrator stated at the beginning of the chapters (if that makes sense - I'm kind of thinking along the lines of the chapters in the Song of Ice and Fire series).
I also felt that the language used was hard to follow. It was quite choppy in places and I questioned a few of the word choices, such as "Get you gone". This may have just been from translating the text into English.
However, I do think the story does have potential. It just needs a few tweaks to make it easier to read and keep the reader engaged. Then, I think the The Tears of the Unicorns would be a great read for fans of fantasy and teens or young adults.
I received a copy of The Tears of the Unicorns I - Temptation from Stephanie Rose in exchange for a review.
