Two wounded-in-love go-getters must decide if they’ll break their personal rule that cost them so much in the past by mixing business with pleasure.
Divorcée Bebe Boshey flees her Ojibway community for the city of Thunder Bay to begin anew, landing a great job that affords her an independent lifestyle she covets and a great condo. Best of all, her silver fox boss thinks the world of her. She can’t help her attraction to him, but office dating is a huge no-no.
Divorcé Alden Campbell is tired of spending his nights alone. And he’s also quite uncomfortable about his feelings for his ace real estate agent, Bebe. Even though they are strictly professional in their daily dealings, the sizzling chemistry ready to boil over between them is enough to shake him with fear, because he’s been there and done that.
While they’re on a business trip together, a crafty playboy pushes Alden into making a big decision that might cost him dearly—pursue Bebe and break his rule of business-only, or let Mr. Tall Dark and Handsome work his charm on the one woman Alden wants to call his own.
An Ojibway from Northwestern Ontario, Maggie resides in the country with her husband and their fur babies, two beautiful Alaskan Malamutes. When she’s not writing, she can be found pulling weeds in the flower beds, mowing the huge lawn, walking the Mals deep in the bush, teeing up a ball at the golf course, fishing in the boat for walleye, or sitting on the deck at her sister’s house, making more wonderful memories with the people she loves most. https://books2read.com/ap/n0AggA/Magg...
Alden is an older executive at the real estate office where Bebe works. An unspoken mutual attraction exists between them as they are determined to keep things professional. Bebe has been burned by office romance before so she promises herself she won’t make that mistake again. What happens when they go to a convention and she’s determined to find someone to end her dry spell? Will Alden be forced to make his move? Will Bebe think he’s worth risking her heart? “Dressed for Success” has descriptive details, realistic professional & personal interactions and dialogue. There is not just a physical connection between them but a respectful working relationship that is presented well in this story. A passionate short romance with a strong female lead!

Alden selects Bebe to attend an important conference with him. She's up-and-coming in his business, and a great producer. They're attracted to each other, despite the age difference. But he's her boss - a huge taboo on workplace relationships. Another younger man at the meeting is interested in Bebe, and seems to be monopolizing her time. He needs to make a move, or risk losing her. What happens when they go home? Is there a way to both work together and be together? This is a really nice shorter book. I like that they both think long and hard before they jump into anything. The characters are likable, and have great chemistry together. It was an enjoyable read.

I don't read a lot of m/f romance these days, because too often the female main character is still stuck in the old mode of helpless, damsel who either needs rescuing or a good man to make everything right. Thank goodness Maggie Blackbird knows how to write a woman who is strong and making her own way in the world. Bebe has a job she is successful at and if her boss is attractive and tempting, both of them behave like adults and don't jump into an office affair. Alden is another great three dimensional character who has been burned by the office romance before and while attracted to Bebe stays within bounds. As Bebe decides to start looking for someone to build a relationship with, Alden realizes he has some decisions to make. Really enjoyed the chemistry between these two.
All good things come to those who wait. by and1515
Wow this story by Maggie Blackbird is simply sweet and absolutely delightful I found myself cheering Alden hoping he'd finally get up the nerve to act on his attraction for Bebe before someone else waltz's in an steel her attention. He's her boss but there's something she can't resist and all good things come to those who wait and oh boy the rewards leave them breathless.

Bebe has worked for Alden for three years and even though she finds him attractive she’s never acted on it and Alden hasn’t either. He is her boss after all, but what happens when he chooses Bebe to accompany him to a business conference and another guy is showing an interest in Bebe? No spoilers, so grab your copy and see what happens in this happy for now ending.

Dressed for Success is a short but very enjoyable read.
I really liked this book and found that the characters were intelligent and mature. They know the boundaries of their permitted relationship and think about how to handle any attraction that they have for each other. Can Alden take the chance that another man will woo Bebe before he tells her the truth of his feelings?

Two words to describe this short story: SMOKING HOT.
Maggie Blackbird captures the ultra high sexual tension between Bebe and Alden perfectly. The pages are almost catching fire in this amazing short story.
This was a quick novella set in Thunder Bay and the Soo which was a first for me, and something I'm really enjoying about the Cross Canada Summer Romance Reading Challenge. I also appreciated the indigenous representation in Bebe and Gareth, the rival for her affections who forced Alden to finally make his move at the real estate convention. The sex scenes were hot but my one criticism is that the HFN was really hasty. I understand that Bebe and Alden had to work through how their relationship might be perceived in the office - as an aside, Alden's assertion that no body would think that Bebe slept with her boss to get ahead was naive because OF COURSE someone will because misogyny and patriarchy - but it felt nebulous because it wasn't clear whether they were going to keep things under wraps or be transparent about it, and maybe a bit more discussion on page would have made for a more satisfying ending.
This was cute but felt a bit rushed at the end, they acknowledge that going public with their relationship will be difficult because he is her boss, but they don't show that happening or them overcoming that obstacle. So it felt a little unfinished to me. I also wasn't a fan of how the sex scenes were written.
