A lavish, full-colour extravaganza filled with party ideas, quizzes, hobbies and games, plus tid-bits about her books — and fantastic new stories from Jacqueline too. Will make a Jacqueline Wilson fan very happy.
Jacqueline Wilson was born in Bath in 1945, but spent most of her childhood in Kingston-on-Thames. She always wanted to be a writer and wrote her first ‘novel’ when she was nine, filling in countless Woolworths’ exercise books as she grew up. As a teenager she started work for a magazine publishing company and then went on to work as a journalist on Jackie magazine (which she was told was named after her!) before turning to writing novels full-time.
One of Jacqueline’s most successful and enduring creations has been the famous Tracy Beaker, who first appeared in 1991 in The Story of Tracy Beaker. This was also the first of her books to be illustrated by Nick Sharratt. Since then Jacqueline has been on countless awards shortlists and has gone on to win many awards. The Illustrated Mum won the Guardian Children’s Fiction Award, the 1999 Children’s Book of the Year at the British Book Awards and was also shortlisted for the 1999 Whitbread Children’s Book Award.
Double Act won the prestigious Smarties Medal and the Children’s Book Award as well as being highly commended for the Carnegie Medal. The Story of Tracy Beaker won the 2002 Blue Peter People’s Choice Award.
Jacqueline is one of the nation’s favourite authors, and her books are loved and cherished by young readers not only in the UK but all over the world. She has sold millions of books and in the UK alone the total now stands at over 35 million!
In 2002 Jacqueline was awarded the OBE for services to literacy in schools and from 2005 to 2007 she was the Children’s Laureate. In 2008 she became Dame Jacqueline Wilson.
This is actually like my eighth time reading this but I never shelved it originally. Oops XD
Totally Jacqueline Wilson is a collection of fun facts, quizzes, sleepover tips and interviews with the author (who I met in 2009), as well as a bunch of exclusive short stories. I really enjoyed reading it as a nine year old but as a now nearly twenty-one year old, I couldn't relate to much of the tips anymore. It's a good guide to anyone who likes Jacky's books. I certainly do!
I really enjoyed it. It has three stories (not real published books can only be found is in this book) one about a teenage boy who writes a letter in the style of a story, a girl who looks after her mum who is in a wheelchair and a chubby girl who has loads of stepsisters, stepbrothers, half brothers and half sisters ect. You can also make recipes, read about Jacqueline's fave films, books and she even answers sixty questions! If you LOVE Jacqueline Wilson you'll LOVE this!
I have loved Jacqueline Wilson for over 3 years, and I can tell why (: Her books are always so descriptive (All her books) And she's not those type of people that make their books so good (at first) And then never put effort for the rest! Her books are also very, very, very, realistic, and it involves real life situations too, that no one could ever tackle in their books! She always improves more with her books, and she adds such good words, that she has a play around with! Whoever doesn't know Jacqueline Wilson, go check her out **After reading this ofc** One last thing, I like how cautious she is with her books, and adds "For older readers" Because most of her fans are kids, and so she is very cautious, which also shows how caring she is ❤
From interviews to meanings of names this book has everything! It starts out with an introduction from Tracy Beaker, quizzes, how to dress and have a party like Jacqueline Wilson and much more! A must read for all Jacqueline Wilson fans
Amazing how much she has said about herself as a person and lots of information that says about the process a book has to go through before it gets published for people to buy and read!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Pretty quick read. I have been a massive Jacqueline Wilson fan since I was a kid. It's been over 20 years I would say that I first picked up one of her books. This book is so cool
