My review :

When two estranged lovers rekindle years later, will her secret tears them apart ...

When I began to read this second installment, I do remember Hallie talking of her late lover, the one she lost in Egypt.
Still I didn’t see coming this story.
Hallie is a very progressive woman, determined on the path she wanted to follow. While her first encounter with Arthur ended bitterly. When they meet again the resentment of their parting is lingering between them plus some life changing event on Hallie’s side.
I am not for hiding at all cost secrets, it is the right way for pain and deception. But on Hallie’s case, it was her only option. The area’s society was unforgivable. As a woman in her position, she would have little left to go with if her true condition were known.
What I understood less was her to be so reckless with Arthur, she risked much the first time, and here again she faces the same consequences and their heavy cost.
To be it was more lust than love at this time in their story.
Arthur is a nice man, but rather fickle. He lost Hallie the first time because he was unable to stand for himself against his friends. Since he tried to get her forgiveness for his hasty departure. But when he decided to woo her against everything as she is the total opposite of the classic bride required by his family’s standards, I thought him with more backbone.
Until he showed his true color.
Hallie is a better soul than me as I would have loved more groveling on his side. Yes, love must always win but when a party is wronged, a bit of bootslicking is welcome.

It was a fun read, Mrs Tamara Gill portrayed a strong woman figure, a woman able to provide for herself by her cleverness and hard work. A woman who accepts her emotions and fully lives them. 4.5 stars for this vibrant portrait of a strong and resilient woman.

I was granted an advance copy by the author and I also preordered my own.
Here is my true and unbiased opinion.

I am not a writer and never could be. Even reading over 300 books a year, I could not do what these authors do. With that being said, I don’t write great reviews. If I like or love a book; I just say “Love this book. You need to get it” or something along those lines. J I am trying to be better about my reviews because I noticed some authors do actually see them.

Reading over 370 books last year and hundreds and hundreds of authors over many years, there is only a handful that I truthfully can say are my favorites and I have actually read all their books. Tamara Gill is one of those authors.

She never disappoints. I can truthfully say I love all of her books. Because I read so fast I finish her books in 1/2 a day but still look forward to all her new releases. I will say these characters didn't have quite as much depth as some but still a good read.

Several years ago Miss Hallie Evans rescued Mr Arthur Howard when his friends had played a trick on him & had abandoned him on a cold night. Hallie was returning from burying her father & was preparing to travel to Egypt as an archaeologist's assistant. Now she's returned & has found work as an archaeologist working for the rich, Hallie explores and studies the ancient ruins excavated on their properties. The Viscount of Duncannon, Arthur Howard, was beguiled after a chance encounter with Miss Hallie Evans several years ago. She left an impression on him that never faded. But when their paths cross again, Arthur is determined to win Hallie's heart this time around--at all costs.
But as Hallie's buried secrets begin to surface, neither can stop society from unearthing the truth. Now, Arthur must choose between love and family duty.
This is the second book in the series & is easily read on its own, although we did meet Arthur & Hallie in the previous book. A well written book with strong characters. Hallie was not in any way your typical early nineteenth century woman, she was an intelligent, feisty woman who needed to work for a living, she had a huge secret, which would totally ruin her career prospects if it came to light. She was passionate & had loved twice. I admired her for forging a life for herself. Arthur had the reputation of being a rake but after meeting Hallie he changed & became responsible & hardworking. I liked him & loved how he’d changed until he nearly blew it but he did redeem himself. The book flowed well & there was a lovely mix of blackmail, revenge & romance. The villain is horrid & blood thirsty me wanted him to suffer far more! I would have banished Arthur’s grandmother as I found her to be totally despicable
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

What a great series!!! Hellion at Heart by Tamara Gill is book 2 in the League of Unweddable Gentlemen series. Though in a series this book can be read as a stand alone. Tamara write the most amazing and original stories, I just can’t wait for her new release and Hellion at Heart is no exception. They are easy to read and I find her characters are wonderful. You fall in love with them all. This story has a very intelligent heroine, misunderstandings, cruel pranks, death, protection, blackmail, evil, never giving up and a second chance at love. I highly recommend you read this book.

Hallie was an independent woman, who was very keen on archaeology. She does tend to get carried away with passion at times. Arthur, Viscount Duncannon was a Lord with a reputation as a rake, however he is trying to mend his ways. Hallie and Arthur has met previously and although they had gone their separate ways, they hadn’t forgotten each other. They meet again many years later at a houseparty, where Hallie is undertaking an archaeological dig. The attraction between them is as strong as ever. However, there is a villain who is out for revenge and a scandal that may be uncovered. How will these events affect their growing relationship? I enjoyed the strong friendship between the friends. The story also highlights the double standards for men and women. This was a very entertaining read.

Miss Hallie Evans has spent many years in the Middle East learning about archaeology. Something she has always dreamed of. When she learns that she must go back to England as a scandal is brewing, it destrys her hopes and dreams. Once in England, she works as a hired Archaeologist to uncover the secrets of many of the estates of England. Arthur,  the Viscount of Duncannon met Hallie while she was in Egypt and never forgot her. Hallie has secrets that could destroy her life. Will she be able to stop those that would hurt her? Can she and Arthur work out their problems and get a HEA? Villians, heartbreak, pain and secrets. Will their love withstand the tornado that their lives had become? I love the strong heroine and Arthur. I received this book from the author for an honest review.

Hellion at Heart is the second book in the League of Unweddable Gentlemen series but, it can be read as a stand-alone. I enjoyed reading this book and I think I liked it better than the first book. It was well written, fast paced, full of emotions, and had great characters. Hallie and Arthur were perfect for each other and I can’t wait to read the next book.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Hallie is the heroine of this story and she comes across as a brave and responsible young lady who will do anything to keep her son safe and well cared for.
She is a bit loose with her physical affections but then, she is a hellion after all and a very passionate one at that.
I think I have fallen a little bit in love with Arthur, the hero. He is strong when needed, admits to his mistakes and works to correct them. He has also loved Hallie from the word go, all this besides being generous of heart and pocket too.
I just love to hate the villain in any story and in this one he was created with skill.
The characters are great and the plot and story are amazing so I am definitely recommending this one as a 'must read'!
I read an Advance Reader's Copy (ARC) of the ebook and this is my voluntary and unbiased review of it.

A wonderful story about a woman that takes her life in her hands and becomes who she wants to be. She stands for herself and even society’s strictures can not take from her who she is at heart.
She has things in her life she hides just because she doesn’t want to hurt those closest to her, but she earns her dream of being who she is. She made me want to cheer for her.

Hellion at Heart is the second book in the League of Unweddable Gentlemen series. The story begins in Surrey, 1813, then continues in Felday, 1817. The story then picks up during the London Season in 1824. The heart-warming Epilogue follows two years later in Somerset. This is a clunky historical romance but still has the elements of a feel-good love story.

At the Madame Dufour’s Refining School for Girls in France, schoolgirls, Ava, Hallie, Willow, Evie, and Molly, became friends. The girls remain best friends on their return to England. They remain in each other’s lives as they each discover love.

From France, with Love: 4- stars: Tate & Ava
Hellion at Heart: 3+ stars: Arthur & Hallie

Miss Hallie Evans dreams of sifting through the sands of Egypt while learning of ancient cultures and buried civilisations. Unfortunately, Hallie is displaced from her childhood home because, even though her father is fourth son of a Baron, being related to aristocracy does not earn you funds. She is sent away to school using the house sale profits. After her father’s death, Hallie then sets off abroad to fulfill her dream. Hallie seems a more emotionally mature character than the Hero.

Lord Arthur Howard, the Viscount of Duncannon, is a rake. However, after a chance encounter with a young female aspiring archeologist years ago, Arthur is still beguiled with her. He has moments of being naive, shallow, and weak during the story. I like the idea of him as a Hero but he wasn’t the steadfast Hero type.

Arthur and Hallie basically meet and have a one night stand. There are no written intimate details of the encounter so when the Hero and Heroine recall it later as being quite meaningful, I feel like the reader is left out. I needed a more convincing scenario of attraction to base an entire love story on, imo.

Like the previous book, this book has grammatical errors. Also, when they met, Arthur said his horse was taken by his friends, leaving him stranded. However, when Hallie later reminisces about their meeting she remembers that Arthur was thrown out of his friend’s coach. Which is it? The continuity was shaky.

Having a crazy villain torment the Heroine like in the first book seemed too familiar and copy-cat.

I recommend this book for an average read for this genre.

When I saw the cover of the book, I assumed the hellion was the H of the story. How wrong I was. The author took some creative license in creating the h character. I am glad she did. She is an amazing individual who lives and walks to the beat of a different drum. With the encouragement of her father she grew up to become an Archaeologist, Egyptologist, Historian. The day before she left England for Egypt, she met the H. She was returning from the funeral of her father and he was hitching a ride. There was instant attraction there. He was a rake and a rogue but somehow, he found he felt a connection with her that he could not forget. Years later she returned from Egypt and they ran into each other. The h fought not to show her interest in the H. He could not keep his eyes off her. Since she left, he began to change his ways. He left behind the rowdy rakish friends he had and cultivated healthier ones. She was wary of him. But life is funny sometimes and they shared mutual friends. So, they were always thrown together. He wanted to firmly see where his feeling would lead. He needed her to accept his suit. But the h had a huge secret that even her best friends did not know and she loathed to have it revealed to anyone. It would mean the end of her career and bring shame upon her and those she loved. Little did she know an evil man intend on revenge knew all her secrets, blackmailed her and threatened to reveal all. Eventually the evil man did expose her for the fun of it. Wishing she and her loved ones would burn in hell for a wrong he perceived done to his cousin. Although the H thought of himself as a progressive man accepting the h just as she was, when it came down to it, he walked away from her. That was not the end of the evil man. He would not be content until she was beyond redemption and dead. An excellent story. A must read. You will not be disappointed.

Hallie meets Arthur when she is on the way home from her father's funeral. He is stranded and in need of a ride to the next town. She gives it to him. When they arrive in town, there is no place for him to stay. He requests to stay with her and she agrees. They end up having an enjoyable evening ;) and Arthur disappears the next morning. While disappointed that he leaves with giving her his leave, she has plans to join an expedition to Egypt soon and busies herself for her journey.

Fast forward several years and Hallie is back in England. But she is not alone. She had a son out of wedlock and is doing her best to make a life for them. She finds herself working as an archaeologist on an estate. She needs this job to get the last of the money to buy a place of her own for her and her son. While at the estate, the owner has a house party. One of the guests is Arthur. But now, Hallie knows that his is also the Viscount of Duncannon and a known rogue. When he comes back into her life, she tries to keep her distance. She can't let anything jeopardize this job and her future. But someone is determined to expose the secret of her son.

Arthur has never forgotten the night that he spent with Hallie. Now that she is back in his life, he is not about to let go of her. He knows that he was a cad all those years ago and wants to make up for it, but Hallie doesn't make it easy for him. But as he gets closer to her, he learns her secret. Is is enough to keep them apart?

I really enjoyed Hallie and Arthur's story. Their one night together, really wasn't enough to base a lasting love but it was enough to get both parties interested in the other. I loved watching these two get to know one another several years after their initial meeting. Of course, the villain that was going to reveal Hallie's secret add extra drama to the story. I'm excited to see what Gill has in store for us in the next book in the series!

2.75 stars. Maybe I’m being generous? I’ll read the next one because the writing was okay, but the whole plot was annoying and wrapped up too prettily. Like, seriously.

What I liked: 1) The writing was okay. I was surprised with the number of grammatical errors, though. 2) Willow I’d the heroine of the book, I’m sorry to say. She was awesome. She needed a bit more fleshing out in this book to make the reader invested enough to read the next book. If the in the next book a future heroine makes a public declaration to the hero about how he doesn’t deserve the live he’s been offered I will know the formula for these books.

What didn’t work for me: 1) Remember in the last book where the annoying Lord Oakes causing all the craziness finally kills himself in the fire and you thought, “Thank goodness he’s FINALLY gone?” NOPE! Now his cousin wants revenge and since Ava is untouchable as a duchess he goes after Hallie. It was weak. Seriously? You had to recycle a plot line? I better not be reading about an uncle of theirs in the next book! 2) Arthur screws up. Big time. At about the 84-86% mark my boy makes a monumental blunder. Even with the rescue he needed to grovel for a good deal more than 0%. Or was it 0.01%? Seriously wanted to knock that boy over the head. 3) Not to be all Judgey McJudgerton, but how can she go on and on about not wanting another child and then continue to continually jump him. Even when he tries to show a bare minimum of restraint. I just can’t with those two.

Another Tamara Gill Classic. This story has mystery, heartache and another villain!

Hallie Evans' father has decided to sell their home and sent her to a finishing school, in France. He then bought a small cottage where the two can live comfortably and one day Hallie can own a home. She finishes school and tragically her father passes. The day of the funeral (and day before she goes abroad as an archaeologist's assistant), she meets a man who needs a lift back to the inn. Mr Hawk (actually Viscount of Duncannon, Arthur Howard) is smitten immediately. The two after some wine spend the night and he is whisked away in the morning by friends and she must leave. Now some years later she arrives home and is hired as an archaeologist for a Baron. The money is very much needed for private reasons. Arthur is still smitten and wants only Hallie. During her stay at her employer's home she meets the pig Mr. Stewart. He is seeking revenge, and starts threatening, harassing her. He even results in more villainous means to get what he wants. Arthur must throw years of expectations to the side of the road and rescue Hallie but making her his will require a lot more strength, strength that is needed in the end.

Hellion at Heart (League of Unweddable Gentlemen Book 2) by Tamara Gill is intriguing Regency Romance set in Egypt and England.
While book 2 it can be read as a stand alone, book 1, "From France, with Love".
Well written and well excuted. Fast paced with well developed, if flawed, characters.
Filled with mystery, secrets, intrigue, revenge, blackmail, heartache, villains, prejudices, and romance.

Follow, Miss Hallie Evans and the Viscount of Duncannon, Arthur Howard, on their journey of danger, finding love, forgiveness, redemption and second chance romance.
I was intrigued from the first page to the last. Arthur, and Hallie, are a couple that makes you want to say, cry at times and laugh others. There are times when you feel this couple will never find their place in society and their HEA. The storyline flows seamlessly and effortlessly.
A delightful story with a few surprises and twists and turns. The epilogue was great. Strongly recommended, for readers who enjoy strong heroine and hero's redemption, England, Egypt, archaeology, secrets, and a beautifully crafted story.

Twist of Fate

Hallie Evans just buried her father and she was leaving for Egypt for a archaeological dig. She was stopped by Arthur Howard as he was left by his friends and they took his horse. She took him to the inn and she went to her cottage. Arthur shows up at her cottage as the inn had no room with the storm. She allows him to stay and he said would pay her. Next morning he's gone and no payment.
Hallie finished her work in Egypt and comes home to her cousin place. She goes to visit her friend Ava Knight and now runs into Arthur who is now Viscount Duncannon, he tries to explain what happened what his friends did but to no avail.
Hallie runs into Arthur as he is friends with Ava husband the Duke. She starts a dig at a Baron house about Roman Castle. Arthur shows up for the house party. While she at the dig she gets blackmailed. The cousin to Lord Oakes knows about her time in Egypt and demand her earn money.
From all her jobs until he says so.
Blackmailer even wrote Arthur Grandmother she shows up at the house party and everything is in the open. Once again Arthur rejects her after he said would always be there for her.
Will Arthur come to his senses and go after her?

A chance meeting meeting on a cold night brought Hallie and Arthur together for one night. But that one night would change her life. The next day she set out on her journey to Egypt were she was going to be an archaeologist's assistant. That in itself was amazing!
Now she is back in London, after the dig was over and her employment ended. But wonder of wonders, having to deliver the last finds of the dig to the London Museum, she found out that Arthur was not Mr Howard, but Lord Duncannon. He had fooled her three years ago.
In her new work, she is going to work as an archaeologist to hopefully find some artifacts on some of the estates in England.
As they meet again, at a house party, where Hallie is doing a dig, the attraction still sizzles between them. But she has a secret and somebody is trying to pull her into a scandal and get revenge.
What will happen? Can these two who met by fate come together for a happy ever after?
Loved this story and highly recommend. Cannot wait for the next in this series!

Hallie Evans is intelligent, independent, and has made a life for herself as a skilled archaeologist. She has returned to England after several years working in Egypt. She becomes reacquainted with Arthur Howard, Lord Duncannon. They begin to fall in love, but Hallie has a big secret, and she is afraid it will drive Arthur away. She right. Arthur doesn’t react well when he learns what she is hiding (thanks to a nasty villain). He doesn’t act like much of a hero. He acts more like a pompous jerk. Is it over between them, or will he go with his heart and make it up to Hallie? He’d better; Hallie is in danger.

Arthur was not my favorite hero for while, but he was able to redeem himself. He truly loved Hallie. He just needed to build up the courage to be her hero. This is a great love story. The hero finds courage and gets the girl, and she gets him. A sweet little boy gets a wonderful father. A nasty villain gets what’s coming to him (at least a bit of it). I enjoyed Hallie and Arthur’s story and the epilogue was the perfect ending.

Finding each other again

Absolutely loved the book. Loved Hallie and Arthur’s story. Hallie met Arthur the day they buried her father. His friends left him in the middle of nowhere and he could have froze to death. When Hallies hired carriage stopped to help him. She again helped him when the local inn was full and she allowed him to stay in her small home.
Hallie left the next day for Egypt and they did not see each other for 5 yrs when they met through there friends. Hallie was hired to excavate Roman ruins on a Barons property and that same Baron was having a month long house party and just so happened that Arthur was invited.
They meet again and Arthur knows it’s fate because he wants Hallie as his wife. Hallie is not only keeping secrets but she’s being blackmailed. Can these 2 learn to trust and love. A beautiful story with a wonderful ending.

A few years have passed when Hallie Evans and Arthur meet again. Neither has forgotten the other after their chance encounter when Arthur’s friends had played a trick on him and he turned to Hallie for help on a cold night. Hallie left an impression on Arthur and he’s never forgotten her. Hallie has now returned home from Egypt and Arthur is determined to win Hallie's heart this time around. Hallie’s secrets she thought buried come to the surface with blackmail and Arthur must choose between his love for her or his family. A captivating story of an independent woman who has secrets and a man who’s determined to win her hand in marriage at all costs. An excellent story I loved and I voluntarily wrote a review.

A female historian, digger and archeologist

Miss Hallie's dreams are coming true. She's leaving for Egypt, but the night before she leaves she meets Arthur, Viscount of Duncannon. Their one night together convinces Arthur that she's THE ONE, but she's already sailed away before he can catch her. Three and a half years later they meet and Arthur hasn't changed his mind about her. Hallie carries too many secrets and tries to discourage Arthur without revealing all, but a blackmailer has his own plans.
Arthur was a disappointment in the beginning because he seemed so naive. Hallie is much stronger emotionally and in life experiences. Fortunately by the end of the book he redeems himself. I love a strong heroine.

This is a nice different story but I felt that something was missing for me. Hallie has an encounter with a man just before she leaves for Egypt, while there she meets Omar, a general and she falls in love with him. We know as much from the previous book. Here we find out that the man she encountered is Arthur, Lord Ducannon and that he never stopped caring for her. Hallie’s past catches up to her creating some trouble but everything turns out well. The fact she worked in archeology was an original turn.

This is what I don’t like, why didn’t she tell her friends? Ava would have helped her and supported her, specially considering why she was being threatened for. I also never felt that she felt as strongly for Arthur as she felt for her, in many ways she didn’t deserve him.

3.5 stars .
Another good one following on from Ava’s story. Adored Arthur he was once again a totally smitten hero that was hooked.
What lacked I think is again not enough tension.
This series seems to have the statement of woman of these times being allowed to live freely like men do and have lovers unmarried also. In theory it’s great but it just dosnt hit the mark for me in this one. I would like to see more challenge, the hero with more drive to win the heroine . Hallie made it too easy for him to be honest and it wasn’t much of a challenge for him..

SPOILER *** AHEAD ***

I would have also like the child to be his from the first time instead some random.

Will see what the next one is like

I thought this was a beautiful love story of patience, loyalty, and tolerance. You know I was not sure if I would like Arthur but he turned out to be a wonderful hero with a beautiful personality. Yeah, he was a jerk for a short period of time but he realized his bad reactions for what they were and vowed to make it up to Hallie. I admired Hallie for taking back her life and building a great life with her son. There is a villain in this story and I personally thought he should have gotten more than what he did even if it was Newgate. I loved this story of Arthur and Hallie’s love and the epilogue was epic!

This is the story of Hallie and Arthur, when they first met Hallie did not know he was a Viscount, they had one night together and then he disappeared. Years later they meet again. Hallie has secrets and is not really the type of women Arthur’s family would want for him. There are times, I really like Arthur and then there are times I wanted to shake him. When an author can make you feel these emotions, they are good. This book has a villain, which brings a little extra to this love story. I will say I enjoyed the epilogue. This is the 2nd book in the League of Unweddable Gentleman, but you do not have to read the first book to enjoy this book.

Sweet but far-fetched but I love intelligent characters

Sweet but far-fetched but I love intelligent characters . If you are very familiar with Regencies you may have trouble suspending your disbelief this far. Not the intelligence but the situations in this book. There is a short bit at the end where the author admits that a woman couldn’t possibly do the things mentioned in the book during this time period and lists some women that were accomplished in a later period.
Also, this book has a veritable plethora of egregious grammar errors and malapropisms. She needs an editor desperately.
I feel generous giving this 3 stars.

Glad I continued because this was better: the characters were more fleshed out, the heroine was way more interesting than the first and the backstory both character had from like 7 years ago was touching, too. However what happened at present times was another jumble that needs an editor. Again, villain with no backstory and zero believable motivation, but who is extremely determined to get the heroine (for what reason??) going to absolute extremes, two different backstories of the heroine to get flashbacks to, no recognition of interracial dynamics, oh and the continuity at the last quarter was abominable. Perhaps worth it for the first half of it!
