In the pilot for the series, you met the #Davenport clan and all their craziness. Pick up in episode one where the pilot for the book left off.
Lucy Davenport is a Hot Mess, no doubt. She’s digging herself in deeper and deeper with the surprise announcement from her in-laws. They are demanding that she marry Cash Davenport, her deceased husbands brother. Her family will bond together to fight them, but their hilarious dys-FUN-ctional antics will land them in trouble, maybe even in jail.
Warning: If you are looking for a sweet, sensitive book with a happily ever after, this isn’t it. It is a totally inappropriate book about a completely dysfunctional family. The F word flies free along with many other curse words. Feel free to get drunk (because the Davenports sure are!) while you’re reading it, and prepare to wet yourself laughing. If sex scenes are not your thing, this book might not be your thing. But, if you have a crazy sense of humor and like raunchy comedies - you’re in the right place. Join in on the craziness of The Crazy Rich Davenport Family.
USA TODAY Bestselling romance author Shannyn Leah loves olives, lip gloss and reading (and writing) romance novels.
Her love of words started at an early age and soon grew until, during her teenage years, she’d started writing her own novels. When her mom pushed to finally publish some of the stories, she quickly amassed a collection of romance series.
AHHHH!!! This book was SO MUCH FUN to write. Kelly makes me laugh with every single one of her chapters. There's a little more Roscoe in this and a little-big-Kitty. Little? Bwahaha, who am I kidding, but I'm not telling. You'll have to grab a copy and find out.
Lucy is trying to be strong for her family. The in-laws are trying to force her hand at marriage to her dead husband’s brother, Cash. The children are against it, but have the in-laws pushed Lucy into a corner? Will she have to marry to save her kids inheritance and the house they live in? While this is all happening, they have an illegal animal in their back garden and a very sexy cowboy trying to conceal it. Lucy is attracted to Troy and decides it might be worth her while to take this sexy cowboy for a ride or two. Ford and Yaya are both trying to protect Lucy and the family with some hysterical incidents. While Lucy is fully aware of her family’s craziness, it is starting to cause her major stress. Is Bets imaginary friend just that, or is there more to it? Can Daisy control Slutty Pepper and Tommy? Is Erik just like his Yaya? This story is crazy but hilarious. This family works well at being dysfunctional with some very interesting schemes. If you are prepared for this crazy ride, you will be howling with laughter all while sympathising with poor Lucy. Our two authors have created a wicked story that is a masterpiece and I cannot wait to read more about this crazy family. Reviewed for Hot books and Sassy Girls book blog
The next installment to this fantastic family's tale was another masterpiece of mischief and dysfunction. The sequel complimented the first episode completely. More antics from Ya Ya and Tommy had me rolling with laughter. Erik surprised me and I loved it! Lucy was a breath of fresh air and I loved how she took over the chaos! (Or at least she thought) As the story unfolds I become more skeptical of who the real villain could be, but Im eager to see how this turns out. The taboo, the crazy and the dysfunctional love this family exhibits is the best love has to offer! A one sitting read!!!
Picking up where the last book left off, Lucy had to make a decision or lose everything. This book didn't seem to have as much chaos, except for the giraffe, as the first book, but there was still some. Nana is hilarious and iv looks how some of the other siblings had more of a role. I am also wondering if the cowboy is good or working with the Davenports. I can't wait to read the next book to see if Lucy can get out of the marriage, if the imaginary friend is actually a ghost and if the cowboy can really be trusted (I hope so). I an hooked on this series.

If there is one thing to take away from this wild and wacky family and series it is that you realize your family may not be as zany as you believe. Lucy’s in-laws want her to marry Cash, her late husband’s brother which means that the fun she is having with Troy may come to an end. If she is going to emerge triumphant she must slow down her drinking and come up with a plan. What could possibly go wrong?
The rest of the family continue to cause chaos, but I think my favorite would have to be Yaya. Full of humor this series will have you laughing out loud as you enjoy the antics of this outrageous family. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
I love this series. Haha and her crazy schemes. Ford just wants to protect his family. Daisy and her crazy personalities makes me laugh specifically Tommy. Bets and her friend Frankie really make you think. The twins are in need of some major guidance specifically Evan. Lucy is still my favorite and I think she will figure a way out of the mess. I can't wait for the next episode.
I like this series and the crazy antics of its cast of characters. Lucy has her hands full in this one and I wouldn't want to be in her shoes. This is escape to the extreme.

Following the Davenports is like watching a train wreck you want to look away but the colorful wigs of Yaya and the sexy outfits by Slutty Pepper keep drawing your eyes back hoping to catch a glimpse of something a little naughty. To better understand how the story works is to think of it as like an ongoing written soap opera each book builds on the last book. These are not stand alone books and reading them in order will give you a better understanding as to how they ended up in that particular predicament.
Lucy lost her husband Mark, the previous year and sort solace in booze and a couple of boyfriends. She is now beginning to surface from her self induced coping mechanism and is realizing just how off the rails her family is. Just as she is trying to get herself together her controlling evil in-laws are threatening her and her family with losing everything. They are trying to box her in and setting up her husband’s brother Cash who they think they can control more to be her salvation.
Lucy is also realizing there may have been a lot of things her husband Mark may have kept from her. As she is tries to unravel the mystery and figure out how to get her (she was never good enough for their son) in-laws to leave her and her family alone she keeps running into mystery man Troy. Her libido is in full control whenever Troy is around, it wants no part of the “off men” plan that Lucy is trying to enact.
In the mean time Ford, her oldest is trying to evict the porn star tenants that Yaya has rented out their guesthouse to. As things start snowballing we begin to discover some of the hidden bordering on illegal talents that the Davenport clan seem to be developing as time goes on.
We get a little more insight on some more of the members of the family. My suspicions about Frankie, Bets the youngest daughters’ invisible friend is coming to light. Will be interesting to see what direction the author takes with this aspect.
Erik is vastly becoming my new favorite. He’s a con man in the making has no qualms about taking advantage of his family if it suits his purpose but he will mess you up if you come after any of them.
In between all of the high jinx and naughty bits you see a family still struggling, you catch glimpses of vulnerability as they strive to not totally cave to the loss of Mark. While there are some high jinx moments and some steamy bits this book has more of a somber feel to it than the first one, still very enjoyable just not as much comedy.

Welcome back to the wild and wacky world of the Crazy Rich Davenports, where smexy, swearing and slapstick go hand in hand. This book focuses a little more on Lucy, the matriarch of the Davenport family, who is trying to get her act together after the death of her husband, Mark. After climbing out of the bottle and the bedroom (or the kitchen table, against a wall, or any convenient tree outside) she's fighting to keep her family out of the clutches of her evil in-laws who are determined to take everything from her unless she marries Mark's brother, Cash.
Of course, we get a good dose of the rest of the cast, with their characters continuing to develop and reveal a little more insight. The porn-star renters of the guest house turn out to be surprising allies, Tommy, the male zombie fighting personality of nanny Daisy, has some amusing tactics against the police, and things are heating up between newly introduced Cowboy Troy and Lucy in spite of her self-imposed sex hiatus.
These books are novella length serials, so you’ll want to read them in order because questions arise in one book and are answered in the next. I’m eager for the next installment after reading an early copy of this one so I can find out all the answers! Will Lucy marry Cash, or will she keep seeing Troy, or both? What will become of Kitty the giraffe? Will Daisy find a way to control her other personalities or will they control her? Exactly what did Ford find in the box in the safe, and what part does it play in fighting against the evil Davenports? And just how much trouble is Yaya in with the police? Hmm, I wonder if they stopped for ice cream on the way to jail like Yaya asked then to do.
As much as I’m dying to find out the answers, visiting the Davenports isn’t simply an escape from reality like my normal fiction reading. It’s a escape beyond the escape, because the wild, crazy antics keep me laughing through the whole book, and the easy, lighthearted fun is like a rollercoaster ride for the soul - invigorating, surprising, exciting, and an all-around good time!

Hot Mess: Lucy Davenport is the second installment in this hilarious series that will continue to have you laughing out loud. This book should come with another warning: Do not read this book in public, you will be laughing out loud and people will think you are crazy too. Hopefully you have read the first book in this series, if not go back and read the pilot, Dare to Enter (The Crazy Rich Davenports), you will definitely enjoy this book much more. Hot Mess is told from the perspectives of each character, with this book focusing on Lucy. Lucy is trying her best to get her act together, but that is proving difficult with all the waggishness going on all around her. The authors also continue to do a great job giving us insights into all the other characters as the story develops. There is definitely something going on with Lucy's evil in-laws and her brother-in-law Cash, but that has yet to be revealed. I also can't wait to see what happens with the little issue of the love triangle between Lucy and..... Oh no you won't get that piece of info out of me, but, I will tell you there are two men fighting for Lucy's heart. The story is filled with insane antics from Yaya, Tommy, and Erik and I do love the newest pet, Kitty. If you are looking for a fun, laugh out loud crazy a** book, look no further, Hot Mess will definitely scratch that itch. ***Disclaimer: I received an ARC copy of this book from Booksprout with the intent that I voluntarily write an unbiased, unsolicited review. I was not contacted asked or required to leave a review in order to read this book. I received no compensation, financial or otherwise. This is my honest review.***
This book is the first of the series following the preface book. This book focuses on Lucy. Lucy is the matriarch of the Davenport family. However, following the death of her beloved husband Mark, Lucy fell apart and spent a lot of her time inside a bottle while screwing around with the gardener who now feels he’s part of the family. Meanwhile, Lucy’s mother Yaya, has rented the guest house which her husband used to live in! Now Yaya and Pops are in the main house, while Vinnie and Roxy live in the guesthouse and using it as a film studio for porn films! All of this and so much more, all while Lucy is told by her in-laws that she must marry Cash (Mark’s brother), or they will take the house away from Lucy. I’m not sure how or why they feel they can do that, but there’s a hint Mark is not all he projected during their marriage! Meanwhile, Lucy starts to get sober, deals with the police and Kitty the giraffe who showed up out of the blue, starts to fall for Cowboy Troy and starts to be the woman she was before Mark’s death.
I can’t wait for the next book in this series to see what happens with all the weird, ye wonderful characters! Lots of laughs with intrigue and the unexpected made this a fun, entertaining read.
I received a complimentary copy of this book and am voluntarily reviewing it.
Continues the saga of the Davenport family. You have to read the first book before starting this one. Told in alternating perspectives from everyone in the family. Focuses more on the Mom, Lucy.
This series is filthy, madcap fun. Really engaging and hilarious. I never thought I would see the phrase “these are the biters” and laugh out loud. Great descriptions and use of internal monologue to tell the story. Ends in a satisfying place. More fun than the steamiest reality TV!!
This is a really fast read. My brain is spinning with everything that happens in this book, and the revelations that we discover. All the usual suspects are here, but we get the chance to go a little deeper, especially with Lucy, Yaya, and Daisy/Tommy/Slutty Pepper. There are so many things going wrong in this oddly functional dysfunctional family, and yet they’re exactly right for the story being told. To be honest, I’m not even entirely sure what I just read, but I want to read more. I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book.
This is book 2 in the Crazy Rich Davenports series, you must read them in order!
Once again we are joining the Davenports with their ridiculously crazy life, in particular Lucy Davenport who has just had a spanner thrown into the wood works, all whilst finally trying to be a good mother to her brood by giving up sex and booze. There are SO many temptations!!!! We are also joined by the other Davenports in this book which will have you cringing, laughing, crying with laughter and if you read it in a public place people will look at you funny (if only they knew).
These two authors have produced something which is unique and so unlike anything I have read before, you will say ok one more chapter then I will carry on with my day and before you know it you have missed lunch, dinner, bedtime and you have finished the book.
I cannot wait for the rest of the series an get to know each family member that little better!! Will definitely recommend to all my friends!
OH My WOW!! I laughed the whole way through this book. The antics and complete dysfuntional mess that is the Davenports is truly engaging! I loved Lucy and how she tries oh so hard to be "normal" but just can't wuite make it. There are so many things that kept me turning the pages, the questions, the antics, the sexy bits(and they were in abundance!) and just the awesome feirce love they have for each other! can't wait for the next one!!!
This one is more concentrated on Lucy - The mother of The children. She is a hot mess. Getting to yourself after housband loss can be hard. But for Lucy It was Like waking up with cold shower due to Her in-laws. More dysfunctions, more sheanings more fun! This book for sure is dysFUNctional. I really enjoyed That read!
Equally funny and entertaining as the first book! I can't wait to read the next one! Zo many different point of views, so many different characters with all their own quirks, but it all comes together in one amazing book.
Equally funny and entertaining as the first book! I can't wait to read the next one! Zo many different point of views, so many different characters with all their own quirks, but it all comes together in one amazing book.
This saga keeps getting crazier and crazier. Not only do we have this wickedly dysfunctional family, but now we are also including large exotic animals, dead spirits and of course lots and lots of sex. This book had my head spinning and I must have laughed out loud three or four times. If you are looking for a book that is complete enjoyment - look no further.
The things that happen to this family!!! Lucy...I don’t even know what to say lol! Cowboy Troy or Cash?? I don’t think it’s that hard!! Oh and Yaya...she is a trip! My favorite part is when she has the shot gun in the den.
I need Episode Two immediately! This book was even better than the first! The funny parts were more hilarious, and the drama was even more captivating. I can't wait to find out what happens next!
Those crazy Davenports are back with more wild shenanigans and chaos. In order to keep papa Davenport from gaining ammunition to take their house, Lucy tells her family they have to put up a united front and act normal. Yeah, like that's going to happen with this bunch. From biting ferrets to an exotic giraffe, from s*** guns to sex tapes there's never a dull moment with this group. This is a shorter story and quick read but it's got many laugh out loud moments. I would definitely recommend reading this one. *I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. This is my honest review.*
Well written story with nice story line and plot. I like the character profile page. Written in dual POV which gives the reader a lot more of the thoughts and feelings of the main characters and brings the story closer to the reader. Well described characters who develops well and are likeable. I like that the story is a mix of humour, seriousness, steam, chemistry, passion, twists, evil families and emotions all over. I recommend you to read the first book before this one to get the whole background. Absolutely recommendable.
The Crazy Davenport saga continues! Ford and Erik pull a prank to try and get the porno couple out of the cottage house YaYa is renting out. Cash, Lucy’s dead husband’s brother is still trying to force her to marry him. He says it is the only way that it will keep his parents from taking everything away from her. There is a giraffe in the yard that Bets wants to adopt. Of course it is illegal to have exotic pets. Lucy believes her ex father in law had it put in her yard to get them in trouble. That whole scene was hilarious. Let’s not forget about Cowboy Troy that Lucy has the hots for. YaYa is up to her old tricks causing trouble. Another great book that I strongly encourage you to read. I voluntarily read an Advanced Reader’s Copy of this book.
Hot Mess picks up where book one left off and the crazy shenanigans continue. In this book we learn more about Lucy Davenport her struggles and laugh out loud antics! Lucy's in-laws want her to marry her deceased husband's brother Cash, but what about Troy? Will she have to put a stop to all her fun times with Troy? Yaya is hilarious, a pet giraffe, and a ghost are all part of this fun read! I absolutely love this series and this crazy family and I can't wait to read the next book! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Lucy is trying to get her life back under control, and the crazy, wacky and smexy times abound! I am loving this series so far - it's outrageous, entertaining, and hits a couple of raunchy notes, but all in good fun! Can't wait to see more!
What do you get when you take one widow with 6 kids, throw in blackmail by the evil(for a polite way to describe them), a 3in1 nanny( That's 3+ people in one ), a possibly not so imaginary friend, and a Giraffe? You get the Crazy Rich Davenports and all the humorous chaos and escapades that go along with the search for the truth and a way to break free form Those Other Davenports.
Another wild and crazy edition of the Davenports! Get ready to delve deeper (if you dare) into the psyche of the Davenports and their "friends". There is something afoot with Cash and his parents, Lucy is trying to be a better mom, Ford is acting like the man of the house, Yaya is... well Yaya, and watch out for those twins! You do NOT want to miss this episode.
The Davenports pick up the day after the chaotic, wild and crazy birthday party for Imogene. The Hot Mess is Lucy's episode. Things may not be as crazy as the Pilot but nevertheless in Hot Mess things are wild and crazy. The Hot Mess is an easy read and will have you rolling with laughter. In this episode you get to meet Kitty and become better acquainted with Cowboy Troy and understand Cash better. You won't put it down until your at the end. You'll be ready to pick up the next episode to continue to binge read the series.
