How far can a man, fearful of death and falling rapidly into the bottomless abyss of nihilism reach? Could we say that he is capable of reaching the point of believing in something absurd, something completely insane, until he finds a new meaning in the world, or maybe to the point of fooling himself?

I want you to remember something we discussed in the prologue: that the annihilation of every meaning and purpose in a person, is the destruction of their will to live. And, of course, when I refer to “annihilation” (or nihilism), I do not only mean the absence of a “higher meaning in life”, but also the absolute absence of any meaning that makes life alluring.

With the “invasion” of a new meaning, life can go on and the forces of Null fall apart. The question is, which of these two forces is stronger, the force of Null or the force of the New Meaning? This dilemma is especially deepened when this new meaning is based on dreams.

Το "Far Darrig" μου έκανε ακόμα μεγαλύτερη εντύπωση από το "Angel", το πρώτο βιβλίο του συγγραφέα. Ο κύριος Καλαϊτζής πραγματεύεται αυτή τη φορά την επαναμάγευση του κόσμου, την ιδέα ότι τα υπερφυσικά όντα ουδέποτε έπαψαν να υπάρχουν. Από ότι φαίνεται, ο συγκεκριμένος συγγραφέας δεν πρόκειται να σταματήσει να με εκπλήσσει με τα ιδιαίτερα, σκοτεινά μα εντυπωσιακά θέματα που επιλέγει να θίξει. Κάθε του βιβλίο κατάφερε να με βάλει σε σκέψεις, σκέψεις που υπό άλλες συνθήκες δεν θα μου περνούσαν καν από το μυαλό. Παρατήρησα ξανά ότι όπως στο "Angel", ετσι και στο "Far Darrig" διαφαίνεται ξεκαθαρα ο πνευματικός πλούτος του συγγραφέα, αλλά και η πληρότητα των γνώσεων του σε οποιοδήποτε θέμα επιλέγει να θίξει. Για άλλη μια φορά είχα την ευκαιρία να διαβάσω ένα μικρό διαμαντάκι. Το προτείνω ανεπιφύλακτα!
