I won this book from first reads giveaways.

This is such a great read! I loved the idea of the actor fine downhill trying to redeem himself. I was on the edge of my seat everyone something else happened. It was a great cast of characters with many different but great personalities. I never knew who it was until the end which is nice for me. A great read by a great author. I will be recommending it to everyone.

The main character is an aging ex-Hollywood star, who took fame and fortune to the extreme, as many do, partaking in abundant drugs and alcohol, until his addictions almost killed him. Giving up the acting life and fame has been difficult, but Asher Blaine is trying to keep his addictions under control and has managed to be clean and sober for over two years now. The only contact with his old life is his accountant who keeps him on a limited income, for his own good. Everyone else he knew in the past, he has either hurt badly or burnt bridges with.

The one thing that bothers him about his old life, are the huge gaps in his memory – where he can remember nothing at all, and has had to rely on newspapers and the internet to fill in the gaps and see what he did at those times.

The police come calling one day and arrest him for the murder of an old friend. He’s innocent, but they have evidence that proves he did it! His past doesn’t help in this situation and one biased cop I particular finds it had to believe he is clean. He constantly has to prove this, as even his old friends and colleagues don’t believe him. With everyone believing he is guilty, he has to try and figure out who has framed him, why and especially how.

He has to go bad to old friends and work colleague in the Hollywood industry and try to mend bridges, to get them to believe he is innocent but more importantly to them, that he is free of his addictions. Another murder soon gets him dragged back into the police’s hands and again there is a link to his past involved. His new ‘manager/PR’ girl is very young and inexperienced, but he wants to give her a chance, everyone else thinks he is messing about with her and think the worst of Asher due to her age and looks.

Lots of twists in this book, from a man trying to redeem himself, after spending most of his working lifetime in debauchery and never being sober, to a neighbour who believes he is bringing the neighbour down and dislikes him due to his past, to ex-wives and ex friends who can’t forgive him, even though most of it is for things he doesn’t even remember – they do. Someone is trying to frame him and doing a pretty good job of it. The pace is spot on and you will want to read this right through to the end in probably one sitting, as it keeps you mind in gear and attentive throughout. A good read and I look forward to book two in the series.

I received an ARC copy of this book from Hidden Gems and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.

When a Hollywood 'bad boy' Asher Blaine gets arrested for murder. He knows he is innocent, but his wild history and the evidence say other wise.
He then goes to the people he used to know, and try and on convince them that he is innocent and sober. Can he burn his bridges, and prove his innocence? You will need to read the book to find out. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book from Hidden Gems.
