Thy Kingdom Come

It’s official. I am the world’s worst stripper.

From the orphanage to the stage, I’ve always been the black sheep. People avoid me like the plague…

Until I meet Semion—the only purebred vampire in the Relic area of New York State. He is also the only man who has ever intrigued me and brings me back from the overwhelming darkness that is my life. So when I am introduced to others of his kind, I’m taken by surprise just how many of them speak to my soul.

But regardless of how much I finally fit in, I am still damaged. I still require the blood it takes to lead. It’s not until I am presented to the purest of vampires that my path to destiny is set in stone.

Abandoned at birth and rescued as a stripper, I find myself forced into a position of worth—a reign I will make true on, or die trying.

Rene Folsom, author of contemporary and paranormal, lives in Florida with her husband and three kids. She has officially diagnosed herself with creative ADD and often has a million and one writing projects going at once. In addition to writing, she is also a graphic artist who enjoys creating custom book covers for indie authors. She is definitely an artist at heart and would love nothing more than to be elbow deep in clay during her waking hours.

Rene believes that all fiction is based on some form of reality—otherwise we would never have the inspiration or knowledge to dream up the realistic situations we portray with our words. She is proud to say that her personal experiences have been inspirational, though perhaps not always identical to that of her fictional characters. Where reality and fantasy diverge, however, must remain her little secret…

I don't typically enjoy books with romance. I took a chance with Thy Kingdom Come because I loved another series by this author. I'm glad I did.

I think what initially grabbed my attention was the opening line of: "It's official. I am the world's worst stripper." Just based on that, I had to know more.

Poor Tesla hasn't had it easy. Raised in an orphanage and by abusive foster parents, her whole life has been set up for failure. The girl just can't get a break. Thy Kingdom Come picks up in just the right point in her life for the reader to witness the craziest part of her life yet. Her entire life has been something of a lie and she's only discovering her true self a piece at a time.

Thy Kingdom Come has action, humor, and a bit of sexytimes, but not so much of the sexy to override the rest of the story. There is an underlying sexual tension, but I wasn't quite sure what would happen. When the time comes, boy does it ever.

Speaking of vampires, Thy Kingdom Come has them. And they are a bit different than what I'm used to seeing. Which is fine by me. I'm really looking forward to seeing where this series goes next. A nice twist on vampires and a smokin hot story line. What's not to love?

Eww. M/M. Not for me. Mediocre everything else. Mentions memories of past childhood sexual assault.

I've been a huge supernatural/paranormal fan my whole life. Vampires have always been a fascinating subject for me. So when I saw that one of my favorite authors was writing a new vampire series, I was absolutely ecstatic!

Tesla, self-proclaimed worst stripper in the world, has not had a good life. She's been abused, tossed around in the foster care system, and stranded in a life she doesn't truly feel like she belongs in. She has a hunger she can never seem to abate, and suffers daily.

Her life seems to take a turn for the better when she makes her first real friend, Kat. Of course, immediately after it takes a much bigger turn for the worse when both are kidnapped right in the parking lot of the strip club where they work.

Now thrown into a world of vampires and magicians, Tesla is unsure of where she's going. When presented with five vampire men ready to bow to her as their queen, she must make a choice: cower away from her destiny, or stand proud and take her rightful place in the world.

Author Rene Folsom knows how to bring the heat. She does a masterful job of explaining her world's vampire mythos, which is always my favorite part of a supernatural story. Amidst it all, Tesla is a relatable, fleshed out character I couldn't help but sympathise with. More than once I found myself feeling actual anxiety for her predicament.

All in all, another wonderful book and start to a new series from the forever talented Rene Folsom! Can't wait for the next book!

GUYS. Rene did it again. This book was a whole new ball game for her. I have been on an RH kick and GOODNESS ME. This one was H-O-T with the plot to support it.

I find that some RH stories in the PNR genre lack in a great plot. This one knocks that stereotype out of the park. I was hooked from the first paragraph and once I got going with reading I absolutely got nothing else done for the day.

This is a Vampire read like you have never seen before. Rene takes all the ways you THINK this story is going to go and she throw curve ball after curve ball. I spent half the book deciding what characters I liked and the other half hoping that this book was going the way I REALLY wanted it to go.

The last 20% of this book almost combusted my phone while I was reading. Throw some whopper of twists into the mix and you end this book begging for the nest one. I cannot wait to see where it goes.

Nope

I strongly disliked the first half of the book but I kept on reading in the hopes it would get better and all the confusion would get cleared up, but alas, that never happens. The second half is a bit better, but not by much. Tesla is boring, whiny, kinda unstable and a total contradiction to everything we learn about her from others and from herself. This book is a big no for me.

The good read

The book was slow at first but it was building a most riveting story line . I can't wait to read more of her story.
