In "Spirit Translator" Diana Cole shares the story of her spiritual development and presents the reader with "Seven Truths for Creating Well-Being and Connecting with Spirit". The aforementioned seven truths are based around striving to generate positive thinking and feelings, gratitude for the present, letting go of the past and its negative aspects, and using our "wants" for the future to create happiness in our lives. None of it is really anything those interested in spirituality have not heard before, but it's nice to have those truths organized into consecutive and distinctive steps. The very last part of the book lays out practical - if sometimes quite time-consuming/involved - tips on developing one's spirituality.
I found "Spirit Translator" a quick and approachable read, but ultimately lacking. Diana skims over many important details of the building blocks of her spiritual development - her father's influence is referenced continuously, yet he is never named despite being a well-known mystic. I found some of her "truths" confusing (and sometimes contradictory) - I don't really understand the difference between generating positive thinking versus positive feelings, to me they go hand in hand.
For those already familiar with basic tenets of spirituality, soul journey and soul contracts, this book will be an approachable read, but I don't know how much new information it will provide, other than organizing "truths for spiritual development" into clear steps. It was an enjoyable read, but I had hoped for more.
