C2D Artistic Director, Andrea Piazza is the visionary behind this one-of-a-kind contemporary version of the “Nutcracker” that not only features dancers with varying abilities but recreates the characters themselves as individuals with unique needs and disabilities. People of varying abilities rarely see “people like themselves” represented as main characters in books, movies and musical productions. “The Nutcracker Reimagined” breaks new ground for C2D, its partners and audience members of all abilities. This original story was written by Andrea Piazza and Nicole Warren in an effort to share with the community a book that could be relatable to all families. Our commitment to diversity and inclusion as well as accessibility and accommodation is what drives the C2D creative process. As an organization we are proud to be able to provide a story book representation of the current culture of the diverse world we live in.
