When Heywood Miller and Dylan Greig meet, it’s not under the best of circumstances. Two boys become lifelong friends and slowly discover that their love for each other is deeper than they thought. Told in first person through the eyes of Heywood, their relationship over the years is a rocky one at times, but in the end the two of them discover that, just like the song, they Can’t Let Go.
PLEASE NOTE: There is cheating in this story, but the MCs do end up with their HEA!
Before we begin, there's a possible trigger. It gets into mentions of drugs and alcohol abuse, nothing severe, bullying, beating, abuse and there is some BDSM in this book. Breath play and a more aggressive side to it. Nothing like blood play or beatings but you never quite know what will trigger someone. Anyway, after that,.This is a story of friends-to-lovers, of finding themselves and second chances. It's a harsh story at times, but it's very real life and good. Dylan and Heywood ended up friends after Dylan saved Hey from bullying at school. Hey started beefing up after Dylan had gotten him free martial arts training and after defending himself against his abusive father, it was time to run. Starting out in New York with modeling and acting, things started to go to Dylan's head. And after being caught in a compromising position, Hey felt it was time to leave. They stayed married but separated for 7 years, when Dylan begs for Hey to speak to him. And they rekindle what was lost for so long. But will it last or will things get too much again? I really love this story, if for no other reason, because it is so REAL. Even without the modeling or acting jobs, this book is everyday life. It is lives people endure every day. And there were moments my heart broke completely. Because all could have been solved with communication and simple respect. And even though this is fictional, it's a sad reminder too that life can get in the way if we let it. If we don't stay focused on what's truly important in our lives, we can lose the very thing we wanted to begin with. And while things have gotten better at some point for Dylan and Hey, it was still a hard road they had to go through and learn. It was still an everyday fight for them to keep what they had. That didn't mean there were no fights or disagreements. It's life, we all have them. But if love and commitment is truly in the relationship, along with communication, then more often than not, things will work out better. It's a dang good story and I'm glad I got to read it. I hope to see more down the road
This is a GREAT story about how hard and great love can be. Heywood and Dylan met in high school. Dylan saved Heywood from a vicious bully. They grew up together, watched out for each other, took care of each other when life dealt the hardest blows. The love they share is strong but not unbreakable. They find out that love is never easy. To keep it strong you have to tend and nurture it daily. This is a MAGNIFICENTLY written story of true love and some of the pit falls along the way. It does have a HEA. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK!!!
Fiction as autobiography, a model turned writer delineates the bright lives of the beautiful people, mixed with descriptions of hot male-male sex. With a linear timeline, not much in the way of plot, but the characters are filled in nicely. A rounded up 3.5.
As I am a gatherer of books, I collect books and ebooks from a variety of sources: Goodreads wins, BookBub, BookFunnel, Riffle, Prolific Works, emails from authors and publishers, and others. I do lose track of their sources. But, as a reader, I feel I should give an honest, unencumbered review for all I read.
I just coulcn’t get into this story. There was nothing about either Hey or Dylan that endeared them to me. The story is told entirely from Hey’s POV and it jumps forward in time in leaps and bounds, leaving huge gaps in their timeline. This really should have been a lot longer so the author could take the time to really build develop their relationship. Sorry, but this on fell completely flat for me.
I wanted to enjoy this book but I felt it missed so much. Maybe having only 1 POV did not give much growth for both characters. Even in the 7 year break between Heywood and Dylan it still felt out of place when they reconciled. I felt like the book missed so much of again maybe having dual POV would have been better even in certain spots and not the whole book. I feel unsatisfied with it.
A novella in length with some of the hottest sex I have read in a long time. Told in first person from start to finish, it chronicles the love that grew over the years, even surviving infidelity. Definitely a five star for me.
