When widow Ruth Arbuckle discovers her ranch foreman is stealing from her, she decides to do something completely unorthodox—she sends for a mail-order husband. She refuses to continue losing money, and she wants someone competent to run all aspects of her ranch, including the financial side. It’s purely business, but when the man arrives to marry her, she’s stunned to find him so compelling. She has no idea what to think or feel!
Sebastian Miller toils away in a bank in Beckham, Massachusetts, wishing for the opportunity to work outdoors while occasionally playing with the numbers he’s come to love. When his sister Elizabeth comes to see him with a plan for him to go west, he jumps at the chance—it’s as if Ruth’s letter was meant just for him. He gets on a train just days later, determined to woo his wife until she falls in love with him.
Will the two of them—each looking at things from very different perspectives—be able to find love together? Or will they have the loveless marriage Ruth initially planned?
Elizabeth knows who to send when she gets Ruth Arbuckle 's letter requesting a groom to work her ranch but especially be able to work her finances. Sebastian Miller is the middle child of the famed Demon Horde. While he has a good paying job at the bank, he finds it confining and yearns to be outside. A story of typical matchmaking if brought to life by author Osbourne as she adds in the in typical switch of bride and groom sent for, awful ranch bands and a supposedly disgruntled set of in-laws. Sebastian can charm the socks off anyone, especially his bride!
Another winner from a great author! Any of the Brides of Beckham are a treat; but when the bride or groom is one of the demon horde, you know there’s fun ahead. One of Elizabeth aka Lizard Breath’s brothers is sent to a Wyoming widow who needs help. He’s a match for the villains and the perfect groom for his bride! No spoilers except this—I want Matt the Cat! Lol
Kirsten gifted us with another successful match for one of the demon horde. This time Elizabeth matches her banker brother Sebastian with a widow ranch owner. Ruth ordered a groom to save her ranch from financial ruin from the foreman, no romantic relationship needed. Will they keep the ranch and find their happily ever after at the same time?
I loved Mail Order Magic! Elizabeth sends another member of the demon horde to wedded bliss. Sebastian is a great with numbers but wants to work outside more. Ruth has just lost her husband. When Elizabeth gets a letter from Ruth asking for help managing her ranch she thinks of Sebastian. Sebastian jumps at the chance to maybe find love and do what he wants instead of being stuck behind a desk.
Sebastian is the middle child of 14! His siblings were so bad as children, their lasting impression on Beckham keeps him from finding a girl to marry. When his older sister proposes a mail order match for him, he jumps at the chance. Ruth is a widow who is being cheated by the men working for her. Sebastian's arrival brings changes, all of them food. To Ruth, he brought magic back into her dismal life.
This is another wonderful Brides of Beckham book that Kirsten Osborne writes so very well. You can just pick one up and dive in to characters you already know and love. This story is about a mail order groom and it is such a great book I couldn’t put it down until I was done.
I'm so enjoying this series with all this mail order brides and was happy to see this one is a mail order husband. Ruth is a widow who needs a husband to run her ranch. Sebastian is one of the demon horde and perfect for Ruth. I look forward to more of these books.
I thought they would be more adventure in this book due to how it started with the foreman and ranch hands stealing from Ruth. When they all got arrested I thought they would come back for revenge. But alas the story was focusing on Ruth's Reconciliation with the family she left 5 years prior when she initially got married.
Mail Order Magic was a great story! Sebastian from the demon horde of Beckham gets to be a groom. A little miscommunication and some dumb criminals make for a fun read!
Wonderful to read a BOB book. I love this story of two people finding their way. Both finding in each other just what they needed. The dialogue is believable. The wit is entertaining. MRS. OSBOURNE continues to make fresh and entertaining stories.
I look forward to to every one of these. They are even more unique when Elizabeth sends a brother like she did in this one. I'm going to hate when she runs out of siblings.
I love the Beckham Mail Order Brides/Grooms, especially when it come to the demon horde. I love hearing about their pranks. The characters are wonderfully built, and the continuity is great. I highly recommend this book and the series.
I really enjoyed this book Kiersten Osborne is a wonderful writer I have always enjoyed her books if I know it’s written by thing I know I’m going to enjoy it characters are all wonderful storyline is good it’s a book that just makes you feel really good I recommend it
Very good easy to read book. Ruth orders a mail order groom, nice twist to mail order bride. Sebastian learns the life on a ranch is different then a farm. How the two concur family matters. Enjoy this read.
Sadly disappointing. No real story it was more of a teenage bedtime story. Move to a ranch fall in love. No drama or action. Generally love Ms Osbourne’s mail order bride/groom books but last few have been so elementary I won’t take a chance on another one.
Sebastian- a mail order groom, a banker who loves the outdoors. Ruth- a widow with an untrustworthy Forman on her ranch. I enjoyed reading this sweet story that is well written with lovable characters. Their story has a wonderful HEA.
So nice to read about the demon horde! Sebastian to the rescue!! Ruth was left with a ranch that the Gorman was stealing from and he was the perfect guy to help Ruth
Adorable story beginning with you Ruth, recently widowed from a much older husband. Needing help with her ranch, she sends off for a husband. Sweet love story.
The “demon horde”, the younger brothers and sisters of matchmaker Elizabeth Miller, have played a large part in much of the Brides of Beckham over the years. At first as younger mischiefmaking siblings, and then later as young men and women becoming of an age to put aside their childhood antics and seek out true love – usually through Elizabeth’s matchmaking help. So, I will always enjoy a story where one of the 14 members of that “demon horde” find their match and everlasting love.
Mail Order Magic is a very simple, delightful love story of two people who are brought together by chance and necessity that will discover a love well worth fighting for is blooming between them. Sebastian is a numbers man who enjoys his job at the bank yet yearns for a way to combine his love of numbers with his longing to be working outside. Ruth is a young widow who is being robbed by her nasty ranch foreman who sees a woman as an easy target. Add to that some tensions between Ruth and her family over how she married in the first place and you have just enough tensions to make an interesting story, and all the time needed for two people to fall in love.
I enjoyed Ruth and Sebastian’s romance and would not hesitate to recommend Mail Order Magic or any titles in the Brides of Beckham series to readers who enjoy Western Historical Romance and finding love with a stranger that can turn into a lifetime adventure.
