This was such a cute and engaging book! Lex is a great protagonist.  She's a bad-ass bodyguard who is somewhat insecure in her femininity. Parts of the book reminded me a lot of Miss Congeniality.  She undergoes a transformation (read: makeover) so that she can take this undercover assignment, and afterwards everyone is surprised by how attractive she's become.

Lex does her job of protecting someone who doesn't want to be protected very well.  Michael doesn't have a clue that she's actually there to ensure that there are no assassination attempts on him before he completes his business deal.  Michael is a bit of an a*s towards Lex, but only because he thinks she's a gold-digger.  He has to reconcile two very different women in his head--the person that his private investigator dug up while researching Lex's alias and the woman he's gotten to know.  We get scenes from both of their points of view, which helps to build their backstories and give us more insight into who they are and how they really feel about each other.

The mystery in this novel (who is trying to kill Michael) is quite compelling.  We get to meet quite a few interesting side characters as Michael works on his big business deal in Copenhagen, and I found the twists and turns in the case quite surprising.

My only complaint is that I would have liked for them to have spent more time getting to know each other. Maybe through a conversation or two talking about their pasts (with Lex lying through her teeth, but at least trying to be honest wherever she can). For instance, we know that they both had similar upbringings, and I would have liked to have had a scene where they bonded over that.  Without this, the book is a tad too insta-lovey for me.

At the end of the novel, the cheese factor ratcheted up to 11, but I didn't care. I just love a happy ending!

Many Thanks to Dawn Hill Publications for the chance to read and review this book. All opinions are expressed voluntarily.

The story has a very unique plot, that of an agent going undercover as an escort to guard the billionaire. Michael Thornton is a moron who coz of a failed marriage has commitment issues but no worries, he is a handsome devil so there’s no dearth of women falling into his bed.

Lex Granger is assigned to be Michael’s bodyguard but the man in question considers all threats against him as harmless and therefore wants no guarding. So, with the help of Kyle, who is head of security team, Lex becomes Sasha White, an escort, a pretend girlfriend to Michael to help him close a deal with the Dutch government.

The first part of the book was slow going and I was not all that keen about Lex’s character. For a security consultant tasked with guarding a man, initial pages were all about Lex forgetting the threats and becoming a puddle under the hands of Michael. But as the story progress, Lex’s intelligence and strength begins to shine thru’ and the pace of the story also accelerates. There were some interesting scenes as Lex confronts Ivana, the ambassador’s wife and handles her adroitly.

I loved how the author has clearly shown Michael’s confusion and his thoughts, not falling for an escort and be swindled, thus his hot and cold approach. Of course, there’s the angst and worries due to whole lots of misconceptions and misunderstandings and assumptions, but the HEA is definitely guaranteed for a reader.

A good solid romance!

Alexandra ‘Lex’ Granger is supposed to be his bodyguard. Her job is to protect him. But when her duty leaves her heart unprotected, she must ignore her feelings to keep him safe.
Michael Thornton isn't supposed to choose her. He doesn't trust people from her line of job. But his trust has nothing to do with his heart because he's falling for her before he even realizes it.
They want each other. They crave each other. But when his life is at stake, could she risk it all? Could she risk her secret being revealed? Between lies and betrayals, their love and desire burn.

SIZZLING ROMANCE | UNDERCOVER BODYGUARD | QUICK WITTED FMC | HEA
note: this book contain scenes for mature audiences

I am totally blown away by this book. When I read the synopsis, I knew I would like it. I have always loved adult romance books, especially if it involves some kind of undercover bodyguard. The Billionaire Needs a Bodyguard did not disappoint. It exceeded my expectations and served me a story that was totally enjoyable and extremely HOT!

“Then what is it that you want? Say it and I'll give it to you.”

The story started with a nice pace that made me want to keep reading. It focused on the romance between the two characters so the action scenes were not as much as I hoped for. But because of that, I could clearly see their growing feelings for each other, their desire, and also the reasons why they couldn't be together. I think that is beautiful and kept me interested throughout the whole book.

Aside from the love story, I also liked the interaction between the two main characters. Lex is a smart and independent woman while Michael is a proud and accomplished man. I could only describe it as fire met with fire. That's what made it all the more interesting. They're also each other's biggest supporter and admirer. Though I admit, I'm not a fan of Michael because of the way he acted towards Lex but when the time comes, he fought the hardest for their love.

“When I set my mind on something, I make damn sure I achieve it. Whatever it takes.”

Talking about fire met with fire, the love scenes in this book were hot enough to burn my Kindle! What I liked is that those scenes weren't just existing for the sake of having them in the book. Those scenes were not only displays of desire but also implicitly showed their position in this situation. When I read them, I felt their want and passion, I felt their desperation to be with each other, I felt their hopelessness, and I felt their love. IMO, the love scenes were not only hot as hell but also beautiful and meaningful.

Overall, I enjoyed The Billionaire Needs a Bodyguard! Sure, it has some flaws and it may be not for everyone. But this book is perfect for you who love adult contemporary romance and billionaire trope. The story is nicely written with awesome characters and steamy sexual scenes. If you're looking for a quick great romance read, I really recommend this book.

I don’t think I’ve ever read a book where the main character is a bodyguard (male or female) and I think that was the main thing that caught my interest with this book. And I quite enjoyed it.

I loved the main character, Lex. Not only is she this bad-ass character (she’s basically a bodyguard) who always stands up for herself and always paints this picture of self confidence, she’s also incredibly smart and knows what she wants in life. She is not described as amazingly good looking character (at least in the modern sense of that word), she’s actually very average and I think that’s amazing. I love when the book characters are portrayed as normal people with all their good and bad traits, and not like some flawless, perfect and almost out of this world people. It just makes everything a bit more relatable. She had a very difficult life and worked hard for what she has now. She wants to succeed in her business and that’s the only reason she agrees to fake being an escort for a billionaire (other than basically saving his life).

Michael, on the other hand is a cruel and cold billionaire. He is a womanizer and has women falling at his feet – that is exactly why he hires Lex to act as his girlfriend. Only he doesn’t know she is not an escort but actually protecting his life. He thinks she’s a gold-digger and his main wish is to humiliate her and teach her a lesson, only he doesn’t know he’ll fall in love with her first!

This was a very exciting and interesting read. It was quite steamy but still interesting and action packed. It’s a pretty short book and I went through it quickly. I even wish it were a bit longer, because I find that when a book is shorter, it doesn’t give plot the justice and there is a lot of stuff happening in short period of time which can be overwhelming. But I believe this is author’s debut novel and with that in mind she did an amazing job with it.

When describing Lex and Michael’s relationship, at first, it’s anything but cute. Although very passionate, they are still lying to each other and due to the lack of trust, they fight a lot. Michael was extremely rude at some points but I loved how Lex actually fought back and defended herself like a strong woman she is.

Of course in the end everything sorted itself out and I’m glad for it. The ending was really cute even though it was a bit rushed in my opinion.

Still, it’s an interesting suspenseful romance. Definitely pick this up if you’re into billionaire new adult novels or even if you’re only in search of a fast paced book you’ll fly through.

I have received this ARC from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

The Billionaire Needs a Bodyguard was the very first book I dove into for this author. I think it's fair to say that I fell in love with the writing and was instantly hooked into the book. It also didn't hurt that I found Lex's life completely complicated with this new assignment. The whole thing was addicting and I wanted to see how it was all going to play out.

I, of course, felt so bad for her whenever she was with Michael. Not sure if he knows how to flirt or anything but he said some pretty nasty things to her throughout the entire time. Yes, he thought she was an escort but dang man - they are real people too! I wasn't one bit surprised when she finally put him in his place and I was honestly really proud of the whole situation. To say it was an eye opener for him would be putting it way too nicely.

Other than the drama, I really enjoyed these two together. Yes, there was sexual tension between them and it was obvious to anyone with eyes that they were attracted to one another. Dare I even say it? They had feelings for each other too.

Definitely enjoyed this book and look forward to my next one by this author!

The Billionaire Needs a Bodyguard is a story about a self-made billionaire named Michael - handsome, charismatic, married and divorced once and now does not believe in having long-lasting relationships. His company is going through a merger with a Danish firm and for that he needs to go to Copenhagen and woo the CEO and the Danish ambassador. But there's a catch - the ambassador's wife, Ivana, is pursuing Michael and does not know how to take no for an answer. So, he decides to hire an escort to pose as his girlfriend on the Copenhagen trip. Additionally, someone sends a death threat to Michael but he does not take it seriously. So, his security team hire a bodyguard through an agency with the help of MI5. Enters Alexandra aka Lex, a naive, under-confident girl, but with great observational, organizational, and managerial skills. Also, apparently she's great at her work too.

The storyline seemed very promising to me at first and I was intrigued. I really wanted to know more about these characters and the synopsis had me on my toes. But it was a long downward spiral for me, for at least 80% of the book. The way Michael treats her, even if she's an escort and a gold-digger at that, does not sit well with me. Their fights, their reasonings, I just couldn't wrap my head around it. Also, the girl is an escort and yet, Michael showed extreme jealousy and in today's time and age, real couples don't show such extreme signs of jealousy and possessiveness. During the remaining 20% of the book, the author really tried to redeem the characters and she succeeded to a certain extent. She managed to wrap up a lot of things that were dwindling in front of my eyes throughout the book, and I am greatful. However, some things were just plain inexcusable.

Some snippets of my experience:

Half way through the book, Lex discovers she is in love with Michael but I just don't get it. He has done nothing but taunt her and insult her. Yes, sure he was good to her in bed but that's just limited to sex. The author hasn't even developed Michael's character enough that we see any good side of him that will make Lex fall for him. There's chemistry between them, sure. But I wish the author had built his character enough so we knew certain characteristics of him for Lex to fall in love with him.
In one incident, Michael is asking Lex to be with him apart from their arrangement, he's asking her to be his girlfriend but Lex uses his past against him saying that "you don't have a great track record. Most of your relationships don't last more than a few weeks." This did not sit well with me. Because if Michael, or anyone for that matter, knows that a relationship is not going anywhere, he surely has a right to break it off and not be in it and make it toxic.
She goes on to say that she can't be with him. When he asks why, she says, "if you don't already know then you wouldn't understand even if I tried to explain it."
What??? Communicate woman. Please. Communicate.

Also, I give 1 extra star for the monologue Lex gives Michael at the airport. But then again, if she sees him to have all the flaws, what made her fall in love with him?

The author did try to address all these problems in the end of the book, like I said, and it did redeem the story for me, but only to a certain extent.

I was asked by the publishing company to review this book.

In all honesty, it took me a while to get into this book, and had I not been asked to read this book it would have been a DNF for me. I did not like the hero, he was an ass and I sympathized with the heroine's insecurity but it came to a point where I became annoyed with her. I kept on wondering how is she an agent, she has lacks too much self-confidence for M15 agent.

After the 47% mark, it actually became good and the story picked up in momentum. There was some action- the heroine finally acted like the M15 heroine she is and she stood up to the hero. Towards the end the heroine kind of makes him work for it and he does apologize for his abhorrent behavior but I would have loved way more groveling.

My recommendations to the author would be:
- I do not like it when heroes Slut shame heroines and even though she did call him a slut back it doesn't make up for it. Yes, the Hero though she was a gold-digging escort because that was her cover, but still it's not a good characteristic to have
- I felt that the first half was slow, nothing was happening per se and I skipped a couple of pages because I got bored. If you do have an assassin plot spread more of that plot throughout the book, I felt most of it was concentrated in the end.
- Show growth in character: Even though the heroine finally stood up to the hero she still thought herself ugly, and it was nice that the hero pointed out how beautiful she actually is, but it's useless if the heroine does not see it for herself.
- And most importantly, have an epilogue! And offer a post epilogue scene few years down the line but have it as a link. Therefore people would need to sign up with their email, automatically putting them on your newsletter list. So only people who are subscribers will get access to it!

Overall for a first book, it was a good attempt! 3/5 Stars

I did not enjoy this book at all. For a main character that seems to be a strong woman, I'm shocked she went along with the sexist premise that is this book with very little debate. After that basic point, the plot fell apart for me. The writing style was also terrible to read. It felt like for every sentence, Hilliard looked up a big word in the thesaurus. None of it was natural. It also felt unnatural in that Hilliard very heavily told us everything rather than showing and also had a tendency of info-dropping. Overall, not a book I would reread or recommend again.

3.5 Stars!

I have some mixed feelings about this book. I liked the premise of the story. It is different, as the heroine is the bodyguard not the hero. I mean who doesn’t like a strong female?!!

My issue was more the writing not being quite there. It was slow starting and I was having a hard time getting into it for the first 20%. That part is necessary as it was setting up the storyline and the characters, BUT it wasn’t very interesting so it was hard to stay focused.

The next 60% of the book was a little hit or miss for me but the last 20% was really interesting.

I know this review seems as if I didn’t like it but I did like the story itself but the execution was just a bit lacking. All & all a good read.

Romance is definitely one of my favourite genres. In fact, when I feel that I am slipping into a reading slump, picking up romance and poetry helps me. When it comes to contemporary romance, the glass isn't exactly rosy but is still fine to relax me. And while May ended on a not-so-good note, I found my reading speed back with this book. I finished it in two days but it was possible to complete it in a go too!

The Billionaire Needs a Bodyguard is a new age and titillating romance novel that explores the human vulnerabilities with love. It focuses on a young woman Lex hired for the protection of a billionaire Michael. He, however, is under impression that Lex is an escort who would accompany him on a business trip to keep 'other' woman away from him. Throughout the building up of novel, we see Lex and Michael fighting repeatedly. But along with that, Lex starts developing feelings for the bad guy Michael is and chooses to stay mum for the sake of her job. She is, after all, his bodyguard.

I personally had a good experience with the novel because of fine writing. I loved how each character is fleshed out and is exposed in open. I saw their strengths, I saw their weaknesses. I came across nasty politics and I realized how pathetic attitude is shown towards the profession of an escort. Prejudice prevails in society and its unreasonable pre-conceived notions have no grounds to substantiate them, really.

Lex is a strong woman, mostly, but she is too quick to fall for Michael. Her switch between two aspects - a lovelorn girl and a strict professional - is amazing though. Michael appears as a tough guy who loves to play his charm on women. His reform, in the end, was a good thing to note, not surprising though. The chemistry between the two was evidently too good but I wish, it wasn't exploited so much so that main story suffers. The characters were sketched properly but were not admirable. They carried an air of shallow thoughts with them.

The narration was quite engaging. However, I missed a terrific plot that could have floored me. The storyline was cliche and again, over the board portrayal of sexual intimacy between the two protagonists affected the narrative. The book will make up for a good read if you are looking for some kinky stuff and entertainment. And If you really into contemporary romance, this might fit your requirement.

* Disclaimer: I received this book from Dawn Hill Publications in exchange for an honest review.

I've read romance novels in the past, but not quite anything like The Billionaire Needs a Bodyguard - a romance that borders on erotica (as I imagine, having not read any).

This is a short and easy to read novel about a young woman, Lex, who works as a bodyguard and has a special assignment - to protect a famous billionaire on a business trip to Denmark, because his life has been threatened due to a new merger. The only tricky part is that he's not supposed to know that she's a bodyguard, because he doesn't want one. Lex, therefore, has to go in undercover as a hired escort.

In certain aspects, the book required some suspension of disbelief on my part, namely the situation that Lex is in: she's very young, yet already a team leader in the bodyguard company she's working in. Also, she's supposed to be very badass, but not only lets Michael treat her like trash, but also gets super emotional about it and loses control extremely quickly, which would be a huge failure in her profession. I would imagine that no matter what he says, she wouldn't bat an eyelash, because she actually knows what's going on, but nope, she starts crying and gets hysterical.

But let's say that all of those are plot devices, though not cleverly written ones, this is where the suspension of disbelief kicked in and I told to myself that perhaps I need to ignore them in order to enjoy the book as it was meant to be enjoyed - for the sexiness (at least I hope so, otherwise the book would lose a lot more merit). Sexy it was. That was the true first for me, I've read novels where there was some sex, but not so much and not so intense. It was an interesting first and I liked the book for it, it was done a lot more tastefully than I would have imagined.

In short, if you want a few hours of steamy romance, The Billionaire Needs a Boyfriend is not a bad choice at all.

WARNING: THIS REVIEW MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS.

The Billionaire Needs a Bodyguard is a contemporary romance of Ravina Hilliard which tells us a story about an agent and a billionaire. This is the first (ever) book of Ravina Hilliard that I’ve read.

My first impression of this book is that it will have a lot of action because Lex is a private security consultant and Michael has death threats. Guess what? My first impression is wrong. The story unfolds with the characters who can’t control their sexual tension with each other. There is a steamy and cheesy story between the characters. I expected this since this is an adult contemporary romance.

The book is entertaining and I also classified it as “light reading” for me. Another thing that I like about this book is the role of Lex. It is not the usual “damsel in distress” which we usually see in romance. I like that she is an undercover bodyguard that I rarely read in this kind of genre. In this book, it is the male lead who needs protection. The only protection that the female lead needs here is protection from her desires with Michael.

The plot, the writing style, and the characters are good and I enjoyed it. The only problem I have in this book is that it ended shortly without much action in it. Nevertheless, I like it.

The Billionaire Needs A Bodyguard is sexy, sassy and smart. Who knew a little role reversal could be an entertaining twist for an at times over used storyline. Lex and Michael pack a ton of heat that sets the story ablaze. Add in a bit of mystery and that makes for a captivating read.

I gave this book 3.7 out of 5 stars. I received this book from Dawn Hill Publishing as part of the DHP book reviewers club program. I live for short adult romance books like this, however, this is a bit different from the ones that I have read in the past months.

Here we follow Alex who is a private security consultant (Just think of her as a highly-skilled bodyguard who protects high-profile clients), she is deployed to protect Michael who is a billionaire (by the way, of course, he is hot) and he is being targeted by people he is in business with. Because they didn't want him to know that she is a bodyguard, she goes undercover as an escort.
As expected Michael thinks that she is a gold-digger who is trying to get him for his money and digs into her past just served him information that the security company put out to support her new cover. Soon he begins to see past the surface, and see that she is smart and resourceful and he begins to fall in love with her (without him knowing it, of course). Anyways, Lex is able to catch the person who has been threatening his life and she is finally able to go back to her life, only he is not able to let her go and she is not able to stop thinking about him. So when he ends up at her doorstep, she wonders if a second chance is worth all the humiliation she felt when she was with him.

There are a few things about this book that just made me roll my eyes so hard, and it was just the way things were worded in this book. It reminds me of old harlequin books, where they felt the need to use every other word than the penis, breast, and vagina. Its been a while since I read sex scenes like this, I think it is cute. Anyways I really enjoyed this.

The Billionaire Needs a Bodyguard by Ravina Hilliard is an adult contemporary romance fiction full of steamy sexual tension between the leads and sprinkled with light thrills and chills. It's not my usual go-to genre, but it made for a good distraction from my normal picks.

Although the book wasn't an overly thrilling read, it made for a nice entertainer. The story was good and interesting and the idea of the female being the undercover bodyguard appealed to me the most about its plot. The characters were not very relatable but then I was not expecting them to be (I rarely expect it from romances, unless they've been written by the big authors who are good at what they do.) The writing though was good and that's what made me read this book in the first place.

I'd recommend this book to romance and new adult genre readers and to those looking for a new entertaining read.

I loved the book. And I didn't think I would. The first few chapters were a drag but then the book picked up pace and had me on the edge of my seat.
What does this book have?
Romance ? Yes.
Drama ? Yes, very much so.
Heartbreak ? Yes
Douche-alpha male with an attitude problem ? Yes.
Strong female that can't seem do do wrong ? Yes
Humor ? Unfortunately no.
So the question should be what the book doesn't have.
Lex or rather Sasha White is a security agent private or rather in her terms a private security consultant. She is at first reluctant to take the assignment to protect Michael Thornton but finally relents to take the task. After the assignment has begun she only regrets talking on the assignment.Michael is a self made billionaire and he wants the help of an escort to fend off other woman. He finds Sasha and is immediately taken to her. After a background check he thinks he had her all figured out.Cue the beginning of the drama.
I really love the drama (The jealousy really)between the two and their chemistry was also fun to read about.
I want to thank Dawn Hill Publications for an e copy of the book.

The Billionaire Needs a Bodyguard focuses on Lex Granger, a bodyguard hired to pose as an escort to protect billionaire Michael Thornton. Due to a new requisition, added threats surround Micheal, but he does not want added security. So, Lex is secretly hired to pose as his escort, which he needs to avoid the wife of one of his business associates.

Though Lex is intent on performing her job to the best of her ability, she never expected to fall for her client. Michael, in turn, fights his feeling for Lex believing that she is only doing her job. Can they reveal their truths and uncover the enemy that threatens to destroy them?

This is a quick and steamy contemporary romance with an interesting story and complicated relationships. The fast-paced story and the intense action were the highlights of the novel. The romance is steamy but has many complications.

The main romance is built on lies, which causes so many problems for Lex and Michael. Michael is sure that Lex is a gold-digger, and he determines to give her a taste of her own medicine. Lex is trying to keep Michael alive while concealing her true identity. This causes confusion, misunderstandings, and many arguments.

Michael’s attraction to Lex is obvious, but he struggles to reconcile his feelings. When he hires Lex as his escort and then belittles her for being an escort, I became disenchanted. I think some of his behavior stems from his confusion about his feelings, but his demeanor is arrogant and elitist. There is no excuse for how he treats her, and their arguments are mean-spirited and hateful. Plus, their relationship is based completely on lies. This does put them on even ground since they were both lying to each other, but it isn’t the best way to start a relationship.

However, when Michael and Lex let their guards down, they have a strong and lovely connection. Their growing feelings shatter the walls both so carefully constructed. Obstacles that prevent them from being honest with each other propel the plot almost as much as the suspicious threats against Michael.

I find the mystery behind Micheal’s death threats interesting, and I like Lex’s take-charge attitude. She is intelligent, unassuming, and sincere. I also like that Lex is the bodyguard and Michael needs protection. This is a reversal from the typical romantic characters where the man protects the helpless female, and it is what initially piqued my interest.

My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐
Type: Standalone
Genre: Contemporary Fiction Romance
Primary Characters: Michael, Alexandra (Lex)
Narration: Limited third person

When I read the blurb, I was skeptical on how this turns out. A female bodyguard pretending to be escort and main protagonist Michael thinking her as con artist seemed like a different corner in the triangle. After reading the book, it does make sense and how they are all interlinked.

Lex does her job of protecting someone who doesn't want to be protected. He thinks he is not in danger. Lex is pushed in corner by her boss and she reluctantly agrees to protect billionaire Michael by posing as an escort.  Michael doesn’t have a clue on her real profession and treats her badly thinking she is con artist. Lex isn't deterred by his behavior and accompanies him to Denmark on his business trip.

Lex is strong and good at her work. At the same time she is also emotional and loses control on emotions easily. Michael is confident and rude. Individual characteristics are explored so well in the book. Sparks and chemistry between them were good.  I didn’t personally like the relationship building. Even though both of them were true to themselves, I felt, they lagged in showcasing true traits with each other. I didn’t like the part where Lex is insecure about her femininity. She fell too easily and too fast for Michael. Author could have added prolog and epilogue. Epilogue would give an added weightage for HEA books.

Plot was ok with an engaging narration style. I would have liked it more if this would have been from dual POV. There was no other intriguing secondary character apart from Kyle. Kyle seemed professional and lovely at the same time.

Overall, this book has some amount of suspense, thrill and light action. Ending was a bit cliché and rushed for my liking yet, it's an entertaining light one time read for contemporary romance book lovers.

I am really disappointed in this book.

Lex is a private security agent who has taken on the task to go undercover for Michael Thornton, a billionaire businessman. The problem is he can't know she is there to protect him. He needs to think he is hiring her as an escort to pretend to be his girlfriend in order for this other woman to back off.
In doing this she has to ensure he is kept safe and also make sure she doesn't fall for him and his charm.

Fake relationship trope, billionaire romance, and strong woman character sign me up. I was so wrong! Lex is a strong character, physically as she can do her job extremely well but that's where it ends. She constantly puts herself down as "not attractive enough" even when she gets a lot of male attention. She "allows" Michael to call her a whore and a slut more than once and she still falls for him?? I'm sorry but when did that become sexy?! Michael thinks she is an escort but that's no excuse. I will admit I did enjoy Lex when she was confident and stood up for herself (It wasn't often but when it did happen I wanted to shout you go girl).

There were a few spelling and editing mistakes throughout the book. One example is - Lex Granger was spelled Grainger a few times.

This book has a dual POV which I loved however it wasn't very balanced. There was more of Lex's POV than Michael's. That really wasn't my issue, my issue was the separating of the two. They almost blended in at times and I found myself thinking who is thinking this.

While reading this book I found the first proposition of the book interesting and then it kind of went dead, however, in my opinion, it picked up again. I loved the element of mystery on who was trying to kill Michael. That is the main reason I continued to read this book.

Overall, Yes I am glad I read this book, I enjoyed the suspense however that is it. I don't recommend this book. Sorry.

*I received this book in exchange for an honest review*

I stayed up until 5:48 am reading this, omg. I need to stop doing this with books.

At first, I wasn't sure if this book was a Harlequin or not. I am still not sure, to be honest. Sometimes it read like one at the beginning, but honestly, lately, I have been reading all these Harlequin style romances, I do not really care anymore.

Maybe it was just because I was tired, or the font style was different than what I was used to, but the first few pages were hard to get into. They read like fanfic almost, and I felt those first few pages, I could have easily written that. Then, when Lex met Carl, and got her assignment explained to her, the novel just picked up and it got really good. I probably also got used to the font, lol. (Later, I was thinking to myself, that I could not have written the ins and outs of that relationship well, especially at the end.)

There was a lot of push and pull in the budding relationship between Lex and Michael, the billionaire and the man she is supposed to be protecting undercover. I really liked the plot. I thought it was pretty original, and the author handled the ins and outs of it very well. The sex (foreplay) was pretty erotic.

When Michael said at the end, ‘Oh, darling! I have never experienced the kind of pleasure like I have with you! I love you so much,’ he cried. ‘I thought I’d lost you forever. I’m never going to let you go. Ever!’ ---I thought this was a little overdramatic and unrealistic for a guy to say.

Despite that, I really liked the novel. I feel like it could have been a bit better if it was just a tad longer and Michael talked more about his past, and maybe Lex too. (Even though it did seem reasonable that they could have fallen in love in that short time period, because they were in close proximity with each other, and it is one's personality and energy.)

Even though no one was a spy, there was a spy & mystery aspect of this story, because someone is out to kill Michael.

“His thick lashes, those penetrating pale grey eyes, that adorable stubble and those impossibly sensuous lips made her go weak at the knees. She was glad she was sitting down. Her nervousness returned as though it had never left her."

Being a huge fan of bodyguard romances I was definitely curious when I saw that in "The Billionaire Needs a Bodyguard", the girl was the one being a bodyguard and not the guy. Add to that the fact that our hero, Michael Thornton, didn't know she was his bodyguard, once she was pretending to be his escort. The plot was totally new to me and I was more than ready to start this one.

This book was in fact a different kind of reading to me, especially in the rhythm. I am used to fast books and this one was slower. Lex and Michael were really stubborn and I was mad with them in a lot of parts of the book. That said, I liked Lex, especially the fact that she was not just the powerful bodyguard she let everyone see, she also had her insecurities in her love life.

My only complain about the book is that I missed more dialogues between the couple. I think if we had seen more moments between them, where they were not fighting, it would had been more convincing that they fell in love so fast... But if you are a big fan of haters to lovers, angst and suspenseful romances, you must read this one...

“I’m only hoping against hope that you have feelings for me. If you want me, then I have a shot at happiness"

I’d like to thank Dawn Hill Publishing for providing me a copy in exchange of an honest review.

I would recommend The Billionare Needs a Bodyguard a Bodyguard if you enjoy:

✔️ A strong heroine
I’ve never read a book where the heroine is a bodyguard. Which is why, this book caught my eye. The fact that she’s the hero’s bodyguard without his knowledge up the ante for me.

Despite the novel being a quick and fast read, Lex had depth.

She’s a badass and I loved how she was confident and self assured in herself and her abilities to do her job. The storyline follows, Lex and how she’s tasked to go undercover as an escort and protect a billionaire businessman, Michael Thornton.

Despite her preparation in her field, Lex is mildly insecure in her body image and undergoes a makeover for her assignment. The fact that Lex was portrayed as a capable woman with insecurities added a layer of depth to her character and made her relatable.

✔️Steamy Reads
The chemistry between the MCs was palpable and passionate.

At first, their relationship was borderline toxic and abusive.

Michael was deliberately cruel towards Lex with various comments he makes about her chosen profession.

Despite Michael’s general rudeness, Lex is a professional and takes it all in stride, but also stands up for herself and demands respect.

The highlight for me was when Michael finally finds out who Lex truly is. Michael apologizes profusely, but I loved how Lex respects herself enough to know her self worth and always kept it classy.

My only complaints are that I would’ve enjoyed more groveling on Michael’s part, he was constantly running hot and cold on Lex.

The ending felt rushed. I felt like the proposal came out of nowhere. I would’ve loved having an epilogue 1 or 2 years later where the MCs are dating and Michael proposes then.

The Billionaire Needs a Bodyguard by Ravina Hilliard - 4/5 ⭐️

* Disclaimer: I received this book from Dawn Hill Publications in exchange for an honest review. However all opinions are my own and were not influenced by this fact. ⁣

Today I bring you a review of this book by Ravina Hilliard, I´ve never read anything by this author but I’m glad I accepted to read and review this book, because I really enjoyed it! ⁣

So as you may know I absolutely love romances and if you love short and easy romances with great characters this one is for you! The story focuses on a young woman named Lex that is hired to be the bodyguard of a very sexy, very arrogant billionaire, Michael, however she has to do it whilst she’s undercover. ⁣

I don’t wanna give any spoilers, but throughout the novel we really get to know the characters, the writing is really good and we get to see their strengths and weaknesses.⁣
The main thing that caught my eye with this book is the fact that the bodyguard is female, I really enjoyed that, Lex is extremely smart and she stands up for herself. Another thing is the fact that’s she’s described as someone with flaws, average and not perfect, which was very relatable for me. ⁣
Michael as an arrogant and cold billionaire was pretty rude at some points, however I loved the way Lex dealt with him. ⁣
I would have loved to see more action and drama with the assassin plot, and I felt like the ending was a bit cliche and rushed for my liking.⁣
Also, I don’t think I’ve ever read a book without an epilogue, so I think the author should have added one! ⁣

If you’re looking for something you’ll fly through, this ones for you!⁣

'The Billionaire Needs a Bodyguard by Ravina Hilliard' is a contemporary romance novel. The premise of this novel fits really well for a Hollywood movie. In which desire and obsession becomes a destructive tool for human emotions.
--
Alexandra "Lex" Granger is hired as a Bodyguard for Michael Thornton, a billionaire busineman. Michael thinks Lex of as an escort who will accompany him on business tours to keep him away from the women to woo him. Michael never take Lex's advice seriously, and we see them contending each other. Michael who is a little spoilt businessman and wants to live his to fullest despite getting death threats doesn't care about Lex, who tries to protect him from danger. On the contrary she falls in love with him and story takes a different track altogether.
You need to grab and read to find out course of that track?
Now, as I said above this story has a potential of coming to a screen is because of its fine writing style which is engaging, crisp and fast paced.
The story doesn't talk about characters minds. We get to know them on a surface level and therefore I could connect well with characters.
The book has a side which delves into physical intimacies and in my opinion the story demanded and is not added just to intrigue readers.
--
Overall it's a good read for beginners, and readers who enjoy contemporary romance novel. It's less than 200 pages so it's a bingeable read as well. Grab some wine and enjoy the book.

I was asked by Dawn Hill Publications to review this book. All opinions are my own and were not influenced by this fact.

3.5 stars!

The Billionaire Needs a Bodyguard is an innovative romance between Lex - an undercover bodyguard - and Michael - the man Lex is sworn to protect. There were a few things I did not like or that overall bothered me as well as a great deal of things I did like, so I'm just going to list them.
Things I did not like
· The writing! I'm not really a fan of third person romances but it was really easy to get into.
· The relationship was kind of rushed. I get that, though, because it is a really short book.
· Michael was an ass. Like, a complete ass throughout the whole book. It was really off-putting. His hot and cold demeanor, his comments towards Lex...
Things I did like
· An interesting main character. Would've liked her to have more depth, but still.
· The bodyguard trope is given a spin here. The woman is the bodyguard! I appreciated the change for once.
· Fake dating. Should we consider it fake dating? I think imma consider it fake dating.
· Bed sharing because, of course.
· The steamy scenes are not overwhelming.
· Angry love confession.

Overall, this was a really quick read (believe me, it took me hours) and, even tho it's the first novel by this author, a good one.

The billionaire needs a Bodyguard is a story of Lex and Michael. Michael who's receiving a death threat isn't taking it seriously. His security Kyle appointed Lex as his personal bodyguard whereas Michael had another Idea in his mind.
.
What happens next? Will she save his life? Who is his enemy? And what's on Michael's Mind?.
.
This book reminded me of my favourite book take a chance on me. I truly loved this book. Though it was Lil predictable but an intriguing one.
.
It's the journey of quarrels, jealousy, insecurities, twists and Love.
The plot of the story is interesting filled with twists and drama. I liked the storyline of the book. The way the story turned out to be is amazing. It makes the reader curious to know what will happen next.
.
The writing style of the author is crisp and engaging. This book has a lot of seductive scenes. It's a fast-paced story filled with drama and dialogues that will make you fall in love with the book.
.
The well-developed characters and the sequence of the events again make this book amazing. The author has done a great job by showing a female protagonist as someone who protects the male and the character Lex has been portrayed as a strong woman also a very beautiful one.
.
The jealousy, quarrels and the little fights between Michael and Lex are wonderful to see. How Lex did her job of Bodyguard perfectly. The best part comes when Michael life is actually in danger. There are many moments in the book that will make you smile and curious.
.
Love reading romance books? Want to read a different book? Go for it. It's worth a read.

Can a novel upset? Can a book draw you into its pages in a few sentences and prevent you from letting it go to the end word? Well, here it is. It is very difficult to talk about it because I don't know how or where to start. Maybe I could tell you it's a romance, but it's not just that. Or that it's a detective story or a spy story, but it's not even that alone.

Or that it is an erotic book, but this too would be an understatement. A psychological analysis? Also, but not only. It involved me so much that I could imagine it on the screen, like a movie. I could see the script, the protagonists, the sets, I heard their words, I could touch certain environments with my hand. Fortunately, there aren't too violent scenes, but a lot is imagined and this is perhaps even worse.

I don't know if I managed to convey everything I felt while reading, certainly not. I'm just a passionate reader who wants you to read this book. I want you to read it and get overwhelmed like it happened to me.

I received this book as a free gift for an honest review.
I enjoyed the premise a lot. To be honest when Lex was doing her bodyguard duties she was awesome. She was very focused, mature, and could discern more than most people older and more in touch with the situation. My problems with the book were the hard hitting, laser focused, ready for any situation woman you meet running beside the Thames in the beginning of the book, disappears because the man was hot.

I would have liked her leading him on more of a merry little chase than simply falling at his feet because he was rich and handsome. The same person who didn't like a former co-worker who was pretty in the face and stopped dating him because he manipulated and withheld things from her, lets her panties fall without a though to a guy who manipulates and withholds things from her.

This book was a great quick read! I really enjoyed Lex's character. She was a strong, take-no-nonsense bodyguard. Lex is relatable towards her thought of being a woman in a male dominate workplace. This book had a lots of echos of the movie "Miss Congeniality" with how Lex underwent a makeover transformation in order to take on the undercover assignment. This book has a mystery that surrounds the reason for the death treat made against Michael, the man Lex is hired to protect. I liked the way Lex was able to match Michael in brains and professional pride in the work both of them do. The relationship moved a little fast, but I think that was in part because of her cover as a hired escort. Overall, I liked the ending of the book even though it had a predictable HEA.

I appreciated the fast pace that the author begins the novel with because nothing grates on me more than a book that takes numerous chapters to get to the point. It was a light and easy though predictable read, a novel easily picked up and read in one afternoon. I only give it 3 stars due to the rushed and idealistic ending but for die hard romance readers, it's an agreeable ending.
